Hope this is not too far off topic - it is about the loot economy and storage. You all know that loot in storage or carried by the player is not counted by the server when it decides how many items to spawn.

Frankly I don't know about private shard spawning rules. I guess private shards act as a "mini public hive", so each server in a private shard has the same spawning tables and numbers as any public hive server. That's my guess. But yes - what you say is true - if you run two private hives on one shard you could farm loot on one and stockpile it on the other. That looks to be true. There was a thread on this forum started a week or so back - about two private servers linked together, that ran out of memory according to the SP and one of them kept crashing. I thought this was interesting (for a lot of people) but no one commented or followed it up. [heh - there are servers on the public hive that stockpile for sure, and seem to have ways of keeping other players out - lets hope they crash too] sorry about my english, I have a strange mind.. my fault :)

Eh, yes I answered the question exactly Johnny :) OK - (for you) - the barrels count towards the NEW server Nope it does not "increase barrel limitation" anywhere. When the server has the max number of barrels in play, no more barrels will spawn. The server does not CARE where the barrels came from. so if you bring barrels IN you can have far more barrels than would spawn normally on that server. If you have a server with NO barrels spawned and you bring in 500 barrels - no more barrels will spawn. If you take away all the barrels, more will spawn. What counts for respawn is the number of barrels in play on the server. Obviously you can't take barrels in or out of a private shard, so this is public hive stuff yes barrel migration is TRUE - it really happens !! But if someone takes away barrels from a public hive server, more barrels will spawn to replace them, so no one looses out in the gameplay.

this is a good question logically 2 private servers each have a full load of barrels = 2x barrels Because if not, someone would connect ten private servers together to one shard, and suddenly have only a tiny tiny quantity of loot scattered around a real big space :)

When there are so many barrels in play on your public hive server that barrels stop spawning, you can still bring in more barrels from other servers. Barrels you bring to the server are included in the total number in play on that server. On the server you take barrels from, they are not counted as in play (spawned) so the server will spawn more. Stuff that you keep in tents and storage on a server is also not counted as spawned. This way, I guess the limit to stockpiling loot on a public hive server is when it runs out of memory.

I object to being called out for saying that DayZ is not a religion. I have NO beef with Nocturas at all. As I said. "As long as you have fun, that's what counts." Nocturas can totally play the game any way he wants to play. Why would I object to the way he plays? He explains how he plays, here in this thread. Honestly, I haven't seen my 2 barrels despawn on the server I play - but that's because the other <sane, serious> players on HELPY HELPERS had their storage start vanishing and warned me. So I emptied mine out, picked them up, put them down and filled them again. They are still in place (they WERE last time I looked) . Most of the stored gear vanished in about 1 minute as I was moving it = resetting a barrel is a serious logistics problem. But I don't store stuff very much- and now I keep what I need on my back same as I always did. Emuthreat has the lowdown on this. Every time I have left a yellow container anywhere (in isolated places) it has NOT been there next time I came past, so I can't say anything about how long they persist. "don't get attached to your gear," right?

Maybe the server maxed out on spawned wheels, so they get reclaimed if you turn your back on them ? Just a theory. My problem is getting barrels to persist - ya know if you dump stuff out of the barrel to move it to reset the timer, half your stuff will despawn while you stand next to it ( in "a really short time! wow!" ) so you need another barrel to empty the first barrel into, so you can keep the first barrel with you bits of wire and rabbit steaks and cooking stuff and.. oops, ok .. they gone I think winter is coming

In case some public kickserver admin complains because I logged in onto his Farm ? Public server admins can blacklist a steam UI on their own sayso ? An admin can't ban you from a DayZ public server. If an admin blocks you from using his DayZ private server, that has nothing to do with any other servers. Battleye only issues global bans when it detects cheats or hacks. This means you are banned for running software that Battleye does not like. If you think the ban was unfair you must appeal to Battleye - find out what software Battleye detected (if you do not know already) but you cannot be banned for getting kicked off a server. Everyone who plays now has been kicked off servers for no reason - that does not get you a Battleye ban. If it did, there would be no players left. xxp

Radiation poisoning might be a nice illness risk from going into certain areas. I don't know how that would play, though. xxp

No problem - brilliant design - very sexy I agree, and they were used for exactly what they were designed for. That's why we don't get to keep them at home (in Europe) Also, a good hunting rifle is a lovely thing but we don't have much space left for hunting in, ya know? Just saying. Times change.

Yes that's what I said Noctoras For you the game is broken, but you paid for it, you have it on your list and you jive around with it You don't want to find a better game to occupy you, or maybe you can't find one - so you do what you like in DayZ There's no law says you can't do that. It's true surviving is "time consuming" - If you don't have the time, you just can't play that way. So play how you like, right? I hope a better game turns up soon for ya. Yes sure - I guess you can mess around and do anything yo like in DayZ - there is no LAW says you have to take it seriously. You say yourself the game is "basically a mistake" and you don't have any respect for it. You paid for it, so do what you like

Nocuturas, no one is forcing you to play this game. When you say "what option do you have " - are you being deliberately stupid? The option is - go play some other game.
