Funny you should mention care bears, I notice under the Xbox section, as well as rules to end KOS, some players are already asking for quests and missions .. I think of it more as a move to turn DayZ into an online Tomb Raider or free-for-all Assassins Creed, or perhaps just make it into ArmA online ? Can we have Boss NPCs in DayZ un-instanced missions, and grinding, leveling, and a points system .. please ? How do I level up to use explosive arrows, and carry more weight, and how many skill points do I need to fly a helicopter gunship? Does the gunner need Steady Aim or are Mechanic Skills OK ? no offense (good man, Bombarding) - just only-only-only an example https://games.slashdot.org/story/02/12/27/1748252/everquest-what-you-really-get-from-an-online-game I feel kind of old - and now the good old days are coming back for revenge. Look out for DayZ-2 (put a lightning stroke through the Z graphic to give it more punch) xxP

Staying Alive is a pretty good DayZ objective. Wait till XboX gets up to speed - then see if you have time for built-in game missions , instead of the objectives you invent for yourself. If you want a starter mission? = find the Bronze Statue of the 'Forgotten Socialist Leader' - it's tilted & half buried in woodland (it is NOT in a town). The half still above ground level is about 10 feet high You'll know it when you see it. Which direction is he pointing? [just don't tell him on the forum, folks]

NO - This is where we started 4 PAGES ago - I disagree ! deal with it. I think you are wrong, - UPPING the powers and varieties of Zombies is obviously the MOST important thing to do. I don't know how BI can do this, technically - I think they may not be able too without taking up too much of the available 'space' of each DayZ instance, or exceeding it. Remember they moved from 40 players to 60 players? Perhaps they should have stayed at 40 players and concentrated on making zombies seriously more worthwhile NPCs ? Because of this I am an "insufferable twat" - ?? .. LOL xxP

YES {sigh} THREE posts and 11 hours ago Pilgrim (that's me) said : So you DO live on a private cooperative server and you STILL want the game changed ? wow.. is it getting boring in there? .. I thought we were talking about the REAL DayZ for any player. er.. "Living on a private server with a dedicated community." Right before the START of this long green (?) diatribe on the vapid boredom of living on a private cooperative server [ which I was NOT talking about - but that is a choice DayZ lets you make. ] - Back at the start of the long green comment, Pilgrim (that's me) said:

wow EM, make your mind up ! this guy derides theories" then spouts -<< moral determinism >> - then launches into his THEORY = !!!! (LINE of AMAZED exclamation marks) . And you are the guy who says I avoid the REALITY of the GAME, when I am the guy who asks: What is DayZ .. ?? Dear Emuthreat: I think changing your socks would be GREAT in DayZ (but not vital) [BNV] (BNV = "but not vital", OK?) I think changing your broken shoelaces AND using them to strangle other players would be GREAT in DayZ [BNV] I think making Zuccini & mixed-fruits salads with handmade goat's cheese & Pasta and Beef Stroganof would be great in DayZ [BNV] I think WASHING you face and CLEANING your teeth would be great in DayZ [BNV] And manufacturing black Pudding from pigs blood and intestines - (with alternatives for players of alternative faiths, naturally) [BNV] p.s. I think having blankets and bedsheets would be great in DayZ. A WHOLE COUNTRY with ZERO blankets is very odd.. what happened to them all? I think pillowcases would be very useful in DayZ [BNV] I think chopping up wooden doors, woodn walls, whole shacks, and furniture to make fires (or boats) would be great in DayZ [BNV] I think several different species of fish and the different kinds of bait and tackle you need to catch them would be great in DayZ [BNV] I think wearing a cap on backwards would be brilliant in Dayz [BNV] I think an extended pocket edition fireside cookbook of delicious meals and Tasty Burgers would be Great in DayZ [BNV] I think making BREAD would be a necessary part of any emergent agrarian peaceful society in DayZ [BNV] I think extracting salt from seawater would be a fine way of preserving animal products [BNV] Dairy farming would be great in Dayz, and each cow could be given an individual calling name, like in Real Life dairy farms [BNV] I think building a monastery would be great in DayZ [BNV] I think a viking long-ship would be brilliant in DayZ, to raid monasteries. As well as helicopter gunships. [BNV] I think sewing leather patches on the elbows of your jacket so it lasts longer would be great in DayZ [BNV] I notice there are BOOKS in DayZ but no one spends a lot of time reading, but more books by the ancient classical authors, (and some soft erotica) would be great in DayZ [BNV] Catching rare butterflies and mounting them in frames would be a great activity in DayZ [But Not Vital] Especially cooking up complex gourmet meals would be totally the best PEACEFUL UNLESS RAIDED activity . [BNV] And wine to go with it would be great in DayZ, [BNV] Add wineglasses to the loot list. [BNV] Folding camp chairs? [NV] * If I were YOU - I would PUSH to have these beautiful additions included in th game. Then players could NOT make use of them unless they wanted to, except for the list of NECESSARY actions - such as changing your SOCKS.. The list of things you have to do could be made longer and longer and longer.. and longer see?.. no moral determinism here, dude just a simple statement (which you missed?) You ask << Is there really any logical chain of reasoning by which ADDING MORE to the game, WILL TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM ANYONE??? >> well, yes, of course there is. Firstly - if you double the size of the game - the price of hiring a server instance will double. Secondly - If you have to gut a deer the way you gut a deer in real life it will take a whole long series of more complex actions than waving a knife over it to turn it into spare ribs & steaks. Really. Thirdly - If you want a game that imitates the total breakdown of law and order then the ONLY weighting you can give to the gameplay "direction" is the weighting that EACH PLAYER brings to the game themselves. WE do not want to ENCOURAGE players to play in ANY manner whatever EXCEPT their OWN well .. It would be harder to shoot someone if you did not point a gun at them. Yoda told me, ..but I thought even kids knew this.. Basic gun safety rules apply before AND after the apocalypse. But it has to be the PLAYER who decides that, otherwise the player is NOT in a Decide For Yourself game.. The consequences of player's actions are already built into the game.. If a player wants to shoot someone it is NOT my problem unless he's trying to shoot Me. But I can MAKE it my problem if I choose to.. WHY would you want to make it harder or easier to shoot people (marksman Level 19 versus handgun Level 06 ?) (or maybe a shootout between Mechanic level 22 versus Root Crop Farmer level 43?) ... don't be silly. A ) - Trying to twist this game about a LAWLESS zombified country into a Jesuitical Educational Game to encourage human nature to change will in fact Destroy DayZ utterly. If you want civilization in the game.. go into the game and create it. <<Please don't shoot me I've got fishing level 9 and bandaging level 14>> BANG. If you want socks to wear out regularly (and decrease your stamina) and ladders to rust unless you paint them regularly, etc .. lobby for it. (but it will not happen). Tweaks will happen. Hell, maybe one day you will even get socks you have to change and carrots you have to boil for 7 minutes. - That will b'e sooooooooooooo NEAT. It will radically change MY game play (and lose another few % of players). B ) - No levels, no skills, no specialties, no experience points, no scores - dump all that shit. Why turn DayZ into a too-complicated STANDARD game? = BIG waste of effort. DayZ is NOT and NEVER WAS and Never Will Be a levels, skills, experience points, awards, scores, GAME. That is why it was made. If you think that is what you want, you are mistaken. When you have those things is the day you will leave the game, because it will not be different from any other game. Just get the zombies up to speed; that will cheer you up. xxP
-
Leveling - skills - score - make DayZ the SAME as 100 other games. = Skills, HUD, Leveling, Stamina, Score, turn DayZ into Tomb Raider multiplayer.

The game is already balanced. Weighting the game to favor your own style of gameplay is deeply silly. That's like saying << after the disaster only NICE people will be left, BAD people will be punished and find it more difficult to survive>>" Dude - that's religion, that's not not what happens in a country-wide disaster-survival situation. If you want to be religious or moral go right ahead - its YOUR choice, what YOU want to happen in-game.. MAKE it HAPPEN.. don't change the game rules to suit YOU and make it harder for otherstyles of play.. Apocalypse Survival = NO RULES... You want rules? - make your own IN the game. The ingame itself is "No Rules". The idea of building forts is coming up - why the HELL would you want to build a fort if the game was already WEIGHTED so that people who wanted to Attack forts were ALREADY penalized in-game for their BAD attitude to your life and property ? THEY wouldn't even arrive at the walls, they wouldn't survive to GET there, and you WOULDNT NEED walls.. because everyone would be nice, sane, peaceful and respectful. If you want to build a cooperative civilization - go right ahead, the GAME is not stopping you. Only other players will stop you or help you. They will decide for themselves. If you want to move to a Private whitelist server where only NICE people can play, go right ahead, the GAME is not stopping you. On a private server that only permitted similar people sharing YOUR attitude I'm sure you'd find it a lot EASIER, everyone on there would agreed with you.. Then you could get what YOU want, DONE efficiently. Meanwhile - the game is already balanced. If players want to eat raw worms or human flesh OR have three hot nourishing means a day - that's THEIR choice. If they want to form a military armed group and TAKE what they need from the bodies and tents of other players, that's THEIR choice. Since day 1 of DayZ there have ALWAYS been 100% deathmatchers running round in Cherno (some GREAT ones) - and at the opposite extreme, for a LONG while there have been lone hunters out in the wilds who live off the land (some GREAT ones) . - Their CHOICE = their CHOICE... Survivors who spawn into the game will find out for THEMSELVES what is wrong about the way they play and if it doesn't work they will change the way they play.. they will find a better strategy. They will fit into DayZ and LEARN - or DayZ will kill them. And if DayZ does it's work PROPERLY then DayZ will kill them anyway. .. What IS DayZ? = It is a game about a place where society and all rules of law and conduct have collapsed. = 100% - that is what DayZ IS, that is what it was DESIGNED to be. The ONLY good change that could be made to DayZ now is =BOOT UP THE ZOMBIES=, make them BADDER, different, more of them, with varied behaviors, more unpredictable, give them more NPC processor time and more AI software space. Sorry, but that's the way it is.. new players to this game (once Xbox is really working) - should realize that their expectations don't count after the total collapse of civilization. Their ideas of "dayz" are totally IN their HEADS.. not in the gaming reality. You are on a beach in a place where there ARE NO rules of conduct.. if your expectations don't fit what happens, then DAMN, you have to change your expectations.. * Better Zombies = definitely (if BI can DO it without making the game-instance too big, because bigger = more expensive to hire server space) HUDs, statistics, kill counts, levels, zones, skills = No point..; christmas tree glitter.. makes no difference to the REAL game.. icing sugar.. Who cares, doesn't CHANGE ANYTHING. Guns: Ask Gews. Game balance or weighting = No.

Emuthreat - because we are friends (and I do ingame TRUST you), let me ague a little unkindly (against a trend of your argument over several posts) . Your views are always interesting. * There are many different kinds of recognized survivalists and preppers in the Real World.. Here are just a couple of well known, well-defined theories: Rawlesian survivalists: This group anticipates a near-term crisis and seek to be well-armed as well as ready to dispense charity in the event of a disaster or complete social breakdown. Self-defense-driven survivalists: This group focuses on surviving brief encounters of violent activity, including personal protection, danger awareness, John Boyd's cycle (also known as the OODA loop—observe, orient, decide and act), martial arts, self-defense tactics and tools (both lethal and non-lethal). These survivalist tactics are often firearm-oriented, in order to ensure a method of defense against attackers. Legal-continuity-oriented survivalists : This group has a primary concern with maintaining some form of legal system and social cohesion after a breakdown in the technical infrastructure of society. .. terminology : Goblin: A criminal miscreant Golden horde: The anticipated large mixed horde of refugees and looters SHTF: Shit hits the fan WROL: Without rule of law. Describes a potential lawless state of society YOYO: You're on your own. FPS: The aim is to progress by shooting players and NPCs without getting shot. DayZ: The game is basically concerned with man's moral duties and social responsibility & the ideal behavior for leaders (e.g. Moses leading his people out of Egypt). Endgame: When the top leveled-up Medic players (level 200) with full stats, & disinfected gear and gloves - cure the plague and the zombies go back to being farmers and decent citizens. [ .. did I get this right? I think I read it in the game description, or am I being ironic? ] KOS: "Kill them all and let God sort out his own" - The Catholic Papal Legate, abbot Arnaud Amalric, August 1209. In the whole list of survival scenarios , Survivalists do not mention looting and violent crime and the denial of human rights, as being one practical & very effective method of survival. I guess this means that the Mafia, armed street gangs, extremist (terrorist) organizations, and hardcore military dictatorships (warlords) will NOT survive? OR - it means that if someone published a survival manual based on those techniques, a lot of people would get mad about it? xxP
-
Sorry about the funny language in the last post, Bombarding - I guess you missed my point a little (no blame for that) : In DayZ I don't have to KOS or PVP unless I want to. xxP
-
I'm 65, maybe we should team up? If what we both say is true (and both male) - then statistically there are two players in the game who won't be born for five and a half years.
-
What is this KOS of which you speak? I think I have heard of it once many many longtime ago. Is it bigger than a fish? Is it smaller than a grass-snake ? what is it. When I seek it I cannot find it. Must I do all this myself? Where is the path to the KOS ? Can I CHOOSE not to KOS? Am I a Player? .. can I not KOS if I feel not to KOS ? Where is rule that says I must KOS or I will be kicked from server? Show me.

It's not "pseudo" I know you don't get it. Do you think the things you <dont get> should be banned from the forum as well as from the game? Read the bit about the AVERAGE AGE of VIDEO GAME PLAYERS again - these are adults, the'y can drive cars, vote, own real guns at home, get married, work, go to prison, pay income tax, & legally be held responsible for their actions, AND they play video games.. ... so WHAT is your BEEF with them? I gave you the links to find out for yourself what's eating you up about the society you live in but you did NOT look at one of them. Am I right? Yes. {sigh} I'm an average player, I have an average brain, I can read, I can understand, I can make decisions. JUST like YOU. No better no worse - don't call me a "pseudo intellectual" or I'll call you a "pseudo-player". (frightening idea hu?) - I gave you a few FUN simple links to the easy REAL stuff about games and people, and you think it's word pooing? lol << word pooing? >> Go play DayZ,- I tell you now dude you won't see me if I see you first. OK - be happy - I'm out of this. ENJOY xxP

- LOL - * * * - to show you some respect (this is a serious & respectful reply) here is a leader into the explanation of DayZ .. In 2018 the average age of a male video game player is 33, the average age of a female video game player is 37 .. so we can assume that average players are doing what they do because they are adults .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existentialism <<Sartre rejects what he calls "deterministic excuses" and claims that people must take responsibility for their behavior.>> * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchy << Anarchy is primarily advocated by anarchists, individuals who propose replacing government with voluntary institutions.>> * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture * <<The Game>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(mind_game) <<The definition of "thinking about The Game" is not always clear. If one discusses The Game without realizing that they have lost, this may or may not constitute a loss. If someone says "What is The Game?" before understanding the rules, whether they have lost is up for interpretation. Some players enjoy thinking of elaborate pranks that will cause others to lose the game. The Game may have been created in 1977 by members of Cambridge University when attempting to create a game that did not fit in with game theory>> *ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_theory <<it is impossible to isolate play from the social influences of everyday life, and in turn, play will have both intended and unintended consequences for the individual and society.>> [ .. some say] * Some video games present problem solving questions that the player must think on in order to properly solve, while action orientated video games require strategy in order to successfully compete. This process of being forced to think critically helps to sharpen the mind of the player. Should there be competition between players in DayZ ? After an apocalypse, should there be competition for resources ? There is no winning there is no loosing - there is only the always-continuing process of adapting to face the circumstances of each moment. [Imagawa .. or was it Musashi? Sorry dude, I forget] Next to the maiden's Sleeping place I left The sabre, the sword — Alas, that sword. xxP

A human opponent is better than an AI opponent. A human buddy is better than an AI buddy. Which do you want today , an opponent or a buddy .? - or maybe just go solo? You can't try for "buddy" ?? - WHY NOT? = OK, I get it - because it is the fault of every player except you. xxP

1) - that's maybe why most of us are here.. I'll bet if you took a poll, most DayZ players are "one game at a time for months" .. me too, anyhow. 2) - story: - A KOSer did something like a 'Proud to KOS' thread a while back; He said <<I'm EVIL, I kill Bambies, I kill Anybody, I'm Smart and Bad, I love it. I Iie, I shoot in the back, in the face, from far from close, If they surrender I put bags on their heads and beat them to death. I murder, I dont CARE what you or anyone thinks, I'll get YOU .. >> so I said <<Thanks mate - it's people like you that make this game interesting and worthwhile. Without serious dedicated bad mean evil KOS bandits, what would be left of DayZ? Thanx for your work, keep it up, it's a hell of a lot better than facing NPCs. See you in the game. >>

OK, got ya! "suicide" with a gun kills you. Does this work with the pipe-wrench ? ENJOY xxP

Quotes: <<Sorry, but only thing I read out of this all is that you dont like PVP and dying.>> <<My issue is that DayZ has had from the outset a goal of an authentic/realism approach to the genre, yet the prevailing meta is at odds with that.>> <<I like the idea of an NPC system to enrich and direct player actions, but do not expect or necessarily want this in DayZ>> Yo! Ive just three (general) things to say about this general discussion 1 ) - DayZ has become EASIER since the "old days" .. step by step .. each version has added on play or crafting options BUT made survival simpler and less dangerous.. You might even say this gives it greater appeal to the more casual type of player.. (and they are the people who get bored the quickest, I think) . Definitely, if you go back to the central game concept and compare DayZ SA to the original Mod, you see how MUCH SAFER the whole environment and the whole range of play possibilities has become. Since DayZ SA started this has been a step by step process. One obvious example (of many) that SURPRISED me - was the introduction of THE HUD - when one of the KEY POINTS on the old DayZ SA shortlist (why we are SPECIAL) was 'NO HUD, we don't DO that crap.' There are many other examples. Game complexity has increased and EASE of playing has increased too. = Steadily =. The game has moved gradually and step by step forwards toward being an ORTHODOX STANDARD game .. It started WAY off from being "orthodox, standard, or easy (and boring) to survive, and THAT was what Attracted a whole GENERATION of playerz. This was a game that was AMAZINGLY different from everything else on offer. And THAT DayZ was GREAT. 2) - Obviously if you present the game to a whole bunch of new Xbox players, they are coming from the Xbox Gaming Experience (no insult intended). That experience means they are habituated to games that have been vetted and designed to be fairly short lifetime BEST SELLERS.. Which means they are designed for the Average Xbox player (and look at the statistics on age and difficulty and game popularity - still no insult intended). The "prevailing meta" is Worldwide. Xbox games are normally either "play through once" (50 hours playing time, then buy something else) or they are REPETITIVE and short action "open world".. (collect stuff, grab power-ups, fight other players, face the NPC, face the NPC Boss, fight other players, capture the flag, collect better stuff, find the BFG, level up, get POINTS). They are games you can play for 10 mins or 20 mins, or play through the "whole game action" time after time. Plenty of markers, plenty of points, plenty of achievements, lists of "wins"..etc. Exciting "now immediately" and "exciting" until you get casually bored. Coming from that environment, to an Xbox DayZ only half built, it is not surprising that Xbox players say "I collected the kit, found the food, what do I do now?". My guess is - many do NOT UNDERSTAND how anyone could play DayZ for two thousand hours or more. So obviously a lot of people come into DayZ are expecting .. an Xbox Game... DayZ is a LOT easier than it started, but it is NOT one of those. It was intended and designed to be NOT like that, and every PC player who has stayed with the game for more than a couple of months KNOWS that, still even today. And the 'old time long time' players know that totally 100%. This game is an Alternative to mass popularity not too difficult, big sales gaming. Especially with the Xbox version currently even simpler than the PC version, it's not surprising folk enter it thinking it's an online DOOMLIKE with ..er.. trees. And its a BAD idea for DayZ to try to go that way OR to encourage new players to think they get the point - "it's just another same-same game, only the graphics are different." = DAMN: Put back the HEADER at the top of the blog saying "Average Life Expectancy this week = 1hr 27minutes, and make SURE DayZ stays that way. NEW PLAYErS CAN UNDERSTAND THAT CHALLENGE; THAT is the 'level marker' new players need (& want, & expect) to play against. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that. 3) - about NPCs: We all know BI had a REAL lot of problems with zombies in DayZ SA.. bandwith, detection, damage... The point and interest of zombies in the game was reduced enormously (and it NEVER got back up to speed, did it?) = The result was zombies were reduced in number (sometimes there just WEREN'T ANY) , AND made more static (if they were even around).. So a village would have maybe 2 who just kind of STOOD there, mainly, unless you kicked them.. AND didn't wander about or patrol haphazardly through streets and buildings like they used to, AND they were slower, AND (because people complained of ruined gear?) - they were made WEAKER too. = (remember the heli zombies in the Mod? They were pretty MEAN) - anyone ever crawled up to a crash for 10 mins changing direction to avoid the 3+ helmeted pilot zombies who were WANDERING around the whole area, they could be dozens of yards away.. then change their direction and wander back.. and then find another one right behind the damn heli? - wow, fight or flight! And in the Mod the zombies could HEAR you if you spoke on the open channel, and came running. AND if you were holed up, they would gradually move in towards you (weighted random movement towards a player presence.) And they ran damned fast, with crazy tracking.. = So a FIRST OBVIOUS move re NPCs would be to: Bring the zombies up to strength (more of them & less predictable locations.. some where you would expect, some moving around that area) Make them move around much more while nothing special is going down .. Bring back the chance of infection from bites (and add "cauterizing wounds" to counter that possibility, using propellant from a cartridge, disinfectant, or any fire) Randomly make some zombies STRONGER than others.. (more damage) Change the way zombies do damage - more clothing and more physical damage, less gear damage Add some random zombies that will kick a door and try to break it down if they detect you are in a house Make some zombies FASTER than others (like Jeez, twice as fast) - that will give you a good selection of NPCs with more variety, more quantity, and less predictability.. IF the BI programmers can find enough AI server-space to get the zombs GOING again. xxP * For the PVPers who want to keep score - if you really need a point to the game - give every spawn a dogtag and let players collect that off the body. [and hey, IF you want to play a "game-game", get ten players with bare fists in a town square and throw in a can of beans or a watermelon, the one left standing with the can of beans at the end, is the winner] Making up stuff to do is NOT difficult, really.. like.. Seriously?

I suggested a long while back = WAY more than a year ago AND 2 years ago AND 3 or 4 years ago, (etc) that key areas (high loot areas), like mil bases and airports, should be NO-LOG zones. 1 ) - If you log out in a NO-LOG ZONE your avatar stays in place for 3 minutes - that's 180 whole seconds = That's a a REALLY LONG TIME for it to be standing in game vulnerable; in a high risk area .. So if (for instance) you were trapped in a building in a gunfight in a NO-LOG ZONE, you'd stand a much better chance of surviving if you stay in-game to fight it out, or trying to make a break ,or surrendering .. that would be a lot MORE realistic. 2 ) - If you do anyway log out in a NO-LOG ZONE, then when you log in again (after waiting 3 whole minutes for your avatar to leave the last game) you arrive at a random freshspawn point, but keeping all your gear. * A lot of the DayZ fighting takes place around high loot zones. So you'd be in a place where you MUST really go through with the consequences, and can't log out and hope your avatar will leave the game before the opponent realizes you are 'really gone' and comes in to get it .. that would be Fine and make better Gameplay. Three minutes is a LONG time, in those situations. People complain it's TOO LONG waiting to switch servers.. so this "serious" time delay would only be for the NO-LOG ZONES. and most players know exactly where those key high loot places are, AND what they are getting into .. Setting perimeter zones is not a =BIG= programming problem in DayZ - a player could have a red light (now that we use HUDs) to tell him he was inside a ZONE. * I wanted - I proposed - to have some TOTAL no-log zones (if you can't log out there, obviously you cant log back in there) where IF you logged out you died - so ANY contact in a high-risk high-loot area would be totally REAL and to-the-finish.. you escape or you die.. But many people complained that the server might drop them (not their fault) - that their mom might tell them to "stop playing Now" (not their fault), that server owners might misuse their power (eg, turn the server off to kill people in the Zone), that they could get stuck in a wall or glitch, (and a few other objections) - And that it would be easy & fast for hoppers to run out of the ZONE, hop, and then run back in (I don't agree about that last one - if they did that they'd be entering the zone the same way everyone does) & etc, etc .. so there were a few hundred threads of discussion and 10000 comments.. for years. So - eventually a 'short delay' was introduced by BI when a player changes servers quickly, anywhere on the map.. (I don't remember how many seconds it is, it's just a pause with a countdown..anyone remember how long?) - Also your avatar stays on the map after you log out for X seconds.. OK - so it's good to find a quiet place to log out. ALSO it stops players in firefights from switching servers, moving behind their opponent, and switching back in .. But it's not a "long" delay and so it does NOT discourage server hoppers. Hopping is BY FAR the quickest easiest way of getting from one high loot area to the next (ie the same high loot area) - on the next server, and then the next server after that .. I say "3 Minutes" because most everyone ranted and howled that waiting "4 minutes" to log back in was just totally unplayable and unacceptable - even if it only happened under special circumstances = because they MADE it happen - and a player could avoid that "punishment" just by getting OUT of the NO LOG ZONE. Hell, even if the server goes down, or you get kicked, you spawn with all your gear somewhere else.. (but the answer to 240 seconds was NO.. too long) * Hmm.. haven't mentioned this subject for about a =CENTURY=. It's been argued through (different ideas) for years. PC players found their own solutions, eg like playing on private hives, or they just got used to it, or changed their play-style, or found ways to deal with it (waiting for hoppers and sniping them?) .. whatever.. It's a thing about DayZ that is part of DayZ ..ya know? The subject doesn't get any airtime & players give it no thought anymore. xxP

This is just looking at the the last 24 hours in Xbox.. (might help you?) Try doing a search on <All Content> (The Search function is at the top right of this page under your login info) .. put in the exact words "server hopping" in quotation marks - I see on on the Forum there are 7261 THREADS already, where people talk about server hopping. Maybe someone has a solution or a good idea in there somewhere?

I think you probably got that right. I didn't think of it (to be honest). But in the pre-stamina game you could run faster if you had nothing in your hands, than if you were holding something (eg a gun or melee weapon or an oildrum .. heh). So there were back then two set speeds for fast. The standard way to get clear of a loony with a melee weapon was to put your gun away and run hands empty. You left the other guy trailing further and further behind after a while. = tests show that Loonies never think of putting away their axe so they can keep up with you, they NEED to have it in their hands (they talk to it, I guess?) Yeah, but a range of graduated movement-speed animations, I guess that would screw my 'simple' proposal. - Good point.

this seems a fair suggestion. So - how about if the bar were longer or shorter depending on your total WEIGHT AND the length of your personal bar ALSO sets your Max running speed .. ? So a short bar would have a lower Max speed than a long bar. Short bar means you are carrying more weight, your speed starts dropping from YOUR max speed. A guy with less weight has a longer bar, higher speed, and his speed starts dropping from his higher Max. So he can always catch the guy who carries more weight, and it'll take him longer to reach 'exhausted'. And if both guys are exhausted - of course they can't catch each other. (that's not worse than the game was pre-stamina). So don't chase someone if you're low on stamina unless you can run faster than them. They may have a big load that gives them a low Max speed, but their personal stamina may be up at their max, unlike your exhausted guy carrying no weight. Also make sure that the "total-full-load" speed in the game (the shortest bar), is set lower than zombie running speed, so seriously overloaded players, even if not tired, would have to drop stuff if they wanted to escape zombs.. (and maybe sneak back later for it).. ??

What is this word "patch" of which you are speaking of? Not worry! In my country we have heard of it many time! Go play, drink warm blood. feel GOOD. If person say "patch" just shoot head or hit with heavy thing. Is best way. Is kind for him also. ENJOY !! Remember old INUIT wise saying: << Наслаждайтесь! - братья и сестры - Hаслаждайтесь! Сделать кровь колбасу в то время как солнце светит, тьма скоро придет! >> Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam. xxP

well, like any other "dark side of the force" player, a sniper can always hop servers while staying in a good chosen position ... but that's moving into a whole other thread-knot that has been going on for a bunch of years, and I notice the Xbox folk have just started it up again.. I think it's great that the new blood has recently noticed KOS and Hoppers and started to COMMENT on these strange human activities.. PC players seem to have already got their heads around the existence of KOS and Hoppers as part of the basic UNFAIRNESS of DayZ the Game Itself, and found out various ways to deal with those things. Nobody on PC is "shocked" by them anymore. Perhaps PC players can imagine IRL, in an apocalypse, some folk sometimes being really unfair, without breaking gameplay rules, and some people actually ignoring social censure to get what they want? =!!!!= (those BAD people!) . PC players have sorted out an attitude to them and everyone has a personal solution, they are a part of the game. I hope Xbox players don"t start off expect DayZ to be FAIR ? (in ANY way) There aren't any points or medals handed out in this game for having a good attitude or being nice & there is no moral code except the one you invent for yourself. If you invent it and stick to it then maybe you will feel good about that, maybe it will work, or maybe you will get eaten by folk who disagree, or maybe you will start an organization - or start up a private server where "shoot first" gets you kicked, or "bad language" gets you banned, or you may even find it necessary to do do things you feel bad about. Or you may not care - some players play just to play (I don't know why) . DayZ is NOT fair.. That's the Game. There are no points and no wins except the ones you invent for yourself in your head. Already half the Xbox players on the Forum are saying the Game is TOO EASY and the other half are complaining about Hoppers and KOS. -{sigh} - and they're just weeks into their Xbox Beta ?? xxP
