Hi there - it was ME - not the others - who see myself as an opponent =IN GAME =of military style squads.. I totally DO NOT care how other players get their kicks in the game as long as they are Legal and not exploiting/hacking ... DayZ has NO Rules about "how to play".. that is the good thing about DayZ: there is no winning strategy, you do whatever you feel, see how it plays out. And dress how you like, or wear whatever you find, there are advantages and disadvantages to each piece of kit.. not just visual. Personally - Im a countryman, a solo player, and when I see "military style folk" penetrating into MY Territory in MY country I do what any self-respecting Mujahideen would do.. or what any self respecting Declaration of Independence backswoodman would do if they saw a bunch of Brit Redcoats coming up the trail. So natch, if I go down onto the main highways or into the towns (into THEIR territory), I expect to be shot at, tricked or murdered.. I'd be crazy if I didnt expect trouble. OK ? - and so would they. In the PC game there is a wider choice of dress and weapons.. If I find a player wearing all buckskin (you can craft that on PC) carrying a hunting/sniping rifle, or other 'unusual' kit.. I think he has set himself up for his style of play - not only to LOOK like anything, but because it works and that's how he plays.. Personally I like an assault vest because it is USEFUL .. but I also know a "worn" yellow raincoat gives pretty good camo (believe it or not) - but if it's new it stands out far off. So If I see folk who are <totally geared up from military barracks> I guess I know how THEY play too.. I sure know where they're coming from. Say, for instance you see a guy on the coast road carrying a fire extinguisher and dressed badly, with a kiddy backpack: they "very probably" have more game experience than an axe freak with a mask. (IMO) .. so act accordingly.. So, in the game I make my own decisions, sometimes I don't even know why.. I have objectives when I start a session, a place to go - and I go there .. and stuff happens on the way. I decide I want a Longhorn pistol (takes 308 ammo and it comes WITH a good useful scope already attached) so I go looking for one. If I meet a payday mask or a wandering lost person or an organized squad, or I come across some hidden tents or a working truck parked out of sight, I act accordingly.. How those players see themselves or WHY that stuff is there, is ALL part of the game.. if a tent is full of mil gear I am kind of "anti", but it has half a can of beans and a couple of 'worn' kit and a piece of rope and 2 worms, I am kind of "pro".. I leave them a can or two, or some NICE cooked steaks, see if they Notice.. In the old game I used to hunt helicopters, not build them. Hit them on the ground or in the air, I don't care. <I'm that kind of guy, don't KNOW why>. I aint even a RP fan. If I'm suddenly Dead.. then I guess that was a sniper. Respect to that player. Running through the woods I get two shots in the back, dead, someone trailed me and I wasn't taking the precautions and not looking back and around enough, not lying up, not backtracking, not changing direction .. careless of me. (that has happened 1 time in 1500 hours). My fault. Never saw how the player was dressed, but he played OK. respect. (still MY fault though). On PC, the players with mil kit and assault weapons are generally into a mil and assault manner of play. I'm into a resistance and backwoods/dirt tracks/country/village manner of play. DayZ needs both - the more styles of play the better for the game (sure, need psycho-killers too). If you watch a player/group for 2 minutes from cover you can pretty often TELL their playstyle just by the way they move. If they run around anywhere they are probably "kidz" - if they put a player on a roof with a long rifle, time to rethink my attitude. One general rule is to be more unexpected than the other player/s (hmm?) To see the range of different kit that is in the PC game you can do worse than look here. This list is out of date now but it gives you an idea of whats coming into Xbox. Other pages on the wiki are useful too : but take it under advisement. https://dayz.gamepedia.com/Clothing xxP

WOW - well GOOOOD MORRNIIING CHERNARUSSSSSss !!! But the dog tag idea I like and have also suggested it .. you can spawn either with a dog tag OR if you dont want to be mil-style, with a bracelet with your name & blood group on it. That is like any piece of kit and can be taken from you, or thrown away, or collected by the nasty players (for instance by psychos who want to collect trophies and make masks out of your Face).. Also, finding (capturing or shooting) a player with 5 or 6 dogtags stacked in his backpack, would be a dead giveaway. .. OK ?
-
How you going to ban it? - the first Public Hive server you log into you cant EVER play on any other server ? ( that would "work", but it's not a very good solution, right? ) -so how do you suggest to stop it ? What's the solution ?
-
totally - and their age and attitude too maybe? (no offense). But ALSO I don't like a fully geared up player wearing all coordinated mil gear - I wouldn't talk to them, for sure.. and SPECIALLY I don't like 2 or 3 players wearing ALL the SAME coordinated gear.. First instinct.. really INSTINCT.; is to get under cover, observe, work round, check I have a good rout away.. then shoot one in till he drops and leave the scene fast back to the deep woods. Don't know why.. How come so-called mil teams ALMOST totally NEVER work a real overwatch? .. your mil team without an overwatch and one flanker is just fancy dress, people. The local hill-tribes will take your boots while they are still warm. (why don't you KNOW that?)

On DayZ Mod there were (at the end) players who bought hack tools off the net.. most of these tools had options to let you use ArmA assets to wreck the game - I have seen big military bases with lines of military trucks full of weapons, I've seen warplanes of different types .. there was a youtube video of someone nuking Cherno with a tactical Nuclear Ballistic Missile from a full mobile launch platform.. (nice!) = but NOT in the official DayZ, it was a home made hack. Also some of the legit independent Mods to the game had base building etc.. perhaps that's what you saw ? - but DayZ Mod, and DayZ SA, neither of them have ever had << Base Building >> as part of the legitimate game. In my opinion there is ZERO need for <<base building>> mechanics to be added into DayZ SA.. It will completely change the game, and NOT in a good way. It will make it more ordinary, another move towards a bog-standard game, and further from what it was intended to be. It is not a collecting, or points, or NPC quest dungeon, or leveling, or Base Building game - at all. It is a scrounging and surviving and being paranoid and cunning and making decisions and reacting & living by your knowledge and your wits until you DIE, game.. NOT a <<Base Building>> game.. You Xbox players will be getting PERSISTANT storage soon - tents, vehicles and barrels, that you store gear in. They stay on the server even if you are killed.. If you are solo you can hide a barrel or a tent somewhere you think is safe, or repair a car and move about, store gear in it, .. if you are a team you can have a whole camp of tents and vehicles .. I think Xbox players should get used to THAT DayZ.. you will have it soon (I hear) just like on PC... when it is all in place (soon) you will have a chance to evaluate the real DayZ experience as it is now. If BI bring in military <<Base Building>>.. (as many PC players hope for) - then you will never have a chance to get involved in DayZ as it has been played for a few years.. Instead, you will think it is a <Base Building> game - and that's how it will be catalogued.. But there are already plenty of those. AND that would be a great pity.. Xboxers would MISS OUT on so much of this very UNUSUAL game.. BI are working now to give you the full set of features, then you will have many different play style choices. Get used to THAT (the full DayZ as it is now on PC), and see what you think of it .. it will give you plenty of life-choices and a few hundred ways to die. Try it out for a while. (ps - maybe Baty Alquawen can give you a pointer to when persistence with tents, vehicles, barrels, will be on Xbox ? ) All this about <Base Building> is just my opinion, natch.. Like my POV on on helicopters the old DayZ Mod.. dont LIKE them.. bases will give me something new to seek and destroy. I am totally the resistance & in cover on the high ground .. military occupation of my country I not like it. xxP

you don't have 'payday masks' yet on Xbox ?? .. that's the bog-standard play-style total giveaway on PC.. When you see a damned lunatic in a clown mask you know their play style is A Damned Lunatic in a Clown Mask

Need a way to stop Combat Loggers on Xbox One.

Thing is - DayZ is NOT a fair game.. it was designed to be NOT fair. There is NO rule of Law and there is NO safe place. you can loot for hours and be fully kitted up and if you AREN'T CAREFUL a player who just fresh spawned 3 mins ago and only found an old monkey wrench, or with his bare fists - he can kill you dead.. He's NOT cheating.. YOU just LOST the GAME. You thought you were safe but you were not. Nowhere is ever safe in DayZ, that's the POINT of DAYZ The AIM of DayZ is to avoid getting killed - to Survive. There is NO WAY to Win DayZ. There are a million ways to TRY to avoid LOSING - you choose for yourself how best to do that.. at every moment you are in danger and you make Decisions that might be good or bad, what you do might work or it might not work. Nothing is safe ever. That is what DayZ is ABOUT. So if you LIKE that and you want to PLAY DAYZ.. then you CANT have a button that says <Get Me Out Of the Game Now With All My Stuff>> Because if you have that, then you're never in danger. It makes the game pointless - You can play THAT game forever but you're not playing DayZ. you can make stupid selfish moves and log out as soon as you notice how stupid that was, and stay alive ?? .. Nah ! . .. In DayZ you pay the price. If you were gunned down, you were standing in the wrong place - that's YOUR fault. Know better next time. This is what DayZ is for. Anything that makes DayZ safe to play, screws the game up completely. Sorry about that - DayZ is supposed to be not safe and not fair, and you have to work out ways of dealing with that IN the GAME. - and in your head - That's just one big reason WHY you cant log out instantly. -
Hang on a mo, dark.! . I was just saying that tents and barrels and vehicles are already PERSISTENT and already in the PC game. Xbox players are supposed to catch up to the PC game, so what is on PC is what Xbox will get - that's how I understand it. But, for the future there has been talk, and maybe promises of introducing "BASE BUILDING" on PC. - It is not there on PC yet - so I was just mentioning what is already in the PC game now. Some folk think Base Building for the future MUST means military = sandbags and barbed wire and watchtowers, or maybe ALL those things plus bigger constructions (?) plus invulnerability when the owner is offline(?) , or maybe just a berm to put your tents in? - or maybe a way of barricading houses already in the game?.. .. in fact many folk think all KINDS of things about it.. but Base Building is a concept in the air from BI without any deep info given out (not that I know about). Some players WANT that <<Construct a Military Base>> gameplay , some think it will wreck the game.. etc etc etc.. Just saying that AT the MOMENT on PC - I have SEEN lines and squares of 6 or 8 tents (2 different kinds of tents) - quite often, and sometimes with plenty of gear in them and also FOUND like 15 or 20 barrels stashed away together in an isolated place (just once) .. and maybe 4 tents and a line of 3 or 4 repaired cars and vehicles.. a truck, a coach & two saloon cars (you can also keep gear in vehicles) .. it is interesting to go looking for this stuff (hehehe) .. .. That is all persistent on PC at this stage in the game already. So there are player constructed server-specific persistent "camps" in the game, if you want to make them, to store your gear. Or you can just hide one barrel or one tent somewhere quiet on a server you like.. So you will be getting that stuff with persistence soon on Xbox. I believe that's the plan. Actual full military base building is still ..er.. moot. (?). it is not in the PC game now (anyway) .. Something will turn up, and my opinion is there will be a LOT of argument about that, and how it works (personally I agree with your view) .. but it's not out in the open yet, not in DayZ yet.. Different folk have different ideas and hopes .. guess we'll see ?? xxp
-
Also remember Xbox-folk, you've got vehicles, & tents and barrels (for stashing stuff) coming. These are already on PC. These are all persistent - they do NOT vanish when you die - and they ARE server dependent. So even if you think server hopping on public hive is your best way to play, as soon as you have stashed a few items in a tent one ONE server.. then you start being tied to that server. If you are a big collector and have 3 tents and a truck, that represents a lot of effort and it is all on one server. Someone may find it, ya know? You will spend time on that server for sure. I stick to barrels (usually just one is ok for the way I play), which are much easier to hide than tents. Like any other gear you carry on your person, you can move an EMPTY barrel or a FOLDED tent, from one server to another. But once a tent is set up and has gear in it, you have to empty it before you can pack it up & move it, at all. Same for a barrel. So if you have 2 tents somewhere with any gear in them you probably won't be moving them much. And if you fix up a vehicle, it stays on THAT server where you found it. So you are already half-tied to a base hidden on one server. It won't vanish if you are killed. Also - for meeting players - on PC word gets around fast which servers are the main attractions for PVP.. its like the trendy hangout in town, OK? .. people who WANT run-around action all queue up to get in there for their session. I guess some players keep their tents on a low pop server, and then gear up for Friday/Saturday night and move over to their fave hot high pop server .. But other folk stay on low pop servers by choice, and go hunting or looting, farming, & surviving.. it's a play-style choice (among other ways to go) .. Either way <<Persistence>> of tents, vehicles, barrels, on PC, already links a player pretty strongly to "their" server. That's where their gear is. = PC players already say "found another player's base" as much as they say "found another player's tents" - because 5 or 6 tents together plus 2 vehicles is definitely a base, right? Check Youtube.

Yeah - this is the argument folk have sometimes come up with against timers : "my Mom turned the computer off when I was playing" I never heard of ANY online game that has a RULE for how to be safe if your Dad shouts at you for playing too long and makes you stop NOW, or your house gets hit by a plane crash-landing through your roof, or the neighbour's dog bites your hand off in the middle of an online firefight, or you don't check the time, and you play right up until the last second before you're late for work or late for school... Is there ANY online game that gives you a SAFE key to get out of the game instantly like you've were never in it ?? I ain't heard of one. In DayZ if you play the game you make your own decisions & you take the consequences to your character - there is NOWHERE SAFE in DayZ EVER. If you have to suddenly turn off the game, man you are screwed.. you might get away with it, but don't EXPECT to be alive when you log in again. If you are in an in-game situation, you have to get OUT of it BEFORE you can log off safely.. go hide in the bushes, make sure no one is following you.. OK? This is how the game works. Nowhere is safe.. try to log out in a safe place.. see? It's PART of the Game. When you watch a war film, you get to the scene where the hero gets killed in a firefight - you don't SWITCH IT OFF before he gets hit.. <duh?> Maybe try to plan ahead a little in your at-home free time.. ?? (like Dude, that's your problem, not a DayZ problem) ENJOY xxP -
Go here : and report it. This might seem complicated until you sort out how the Feedback Tracker works, but it is to report bugs, hacks = technical stuff that causes game problems. It is worth it in the long run, fr you and other Xbox players. A server owner (or anyone) should not be able to respawn themself kitted up or at a location they chose. If what you say is fact, it definitely needs fixing. xxP

Basebuilding - How far Away? What's Coming? The Hopes and Dreams....
pilgrim* replied to Caatalyst's topic in Suggestions
safe bases will break DayZ I guess the first move to introducing "bases" will be to have doors and windows of existing buildings boarded up by the player. * xxP -
Thirty wolves - wow, worth loosing a character just to have that story to tell your grandchildren - bet you were screaming aloud right there at your rig .. ain't DayZ a once-in-a-lifetime game ? stick with it Xbox players

0.63 Exp, Bacteria symbol when drinking from well
pilgrim* replied to Dudas_'s topic in New Player Discussion
that all sounds like good sense to me, friend. Except that I DO get 3 up arrows when I drink "quite" a lot (full plastic bottle after adding water purification tablets) and they ARE over the "Germ" for just a couple of seconds max. But yours still sounds good solid experience, thanx; I'll go experiment with it & try to die of something horrible & slow. xxP -

The whole Base thing is really complicated.. as far as the technical aspects and the (technical) gamplay goes.. NOBODY has the same idea about "what is a Base"... and BI are not giving any specifications right now. Without going into the Whole List of expectations/technical/gameplay.. just your example of "keys" for instance: - Do you 'lock your base' with a key that you CARRY in the game.. so someone can loot that key off you?.. & you can MAKE ingame another key for a friend? OR - are you listed on a database as the "owner.". Can you add other owners to the list?.. Can multiple owners spawn in and out of the base.. Can the original "owner" take them off the list again? If the base is taken over (even when the owner is not in the game) does the base transfer ownership to whoever captured it, or is it "destroyed" ? Is the base totally impregnable when the owner is not logged in (some folk expect this).. or is it .. er "easy" to break into a base when the owner is not there. Can you ram through the gate with a car, for instance, or cut the barbed wire with a cutter.. etc.. or use a lockpick.. (even if the owner isn't around.) People are thinking of Bases exactly as if they were in-game bulletproof indestructible TENTS that only the person who put up the tent can get in and out. This would be really Stupid for gameplay. And if a base were Seriously Difficult to get into - WHY would someone attack it while the player was at home? Wait till he comes out, shoot him and take his key. Or wait till hes not in play and break in or use a lockpick ? So.. (er) .. for instance.. A base would be a kind of shooting gallery for players outside, who could snipe at players trapped inside, who could not get out the gate without being almost certainly killed.. So what would be the advantage of that to a Base builder? You can already do that with a standard house if you lock the front door. (except players CAN hop in to an ordinary house .. as you point out). The gameplay implementation has not been made public, and so the idea of <what is a "Base"> is a still a general individual player fantasy .. whatever comes up will not make most players "happy", because they have such different vague ideas on what they want and how it will play. In my opinion, they think, "if it LOOKS like a Base then it IS a Base" (so it must be Cool!) and haven't thought further. .. but the look of a thing doesn't have much to do with the gameplay. So BI is working it out and not saying a lot right now. But I see a lot of argument & rants coming up. IMO -
0.63 Exp, Bacteria symbol when drinking from well
pilgrim* replied to Dudas_'s topic in New Player Discussion
OK.. I experience that drinking makes 3 up-arrows appear for a SHORT time (seconds) .. but on my PC experimental build (this week) that happens above the 4th symbol from the RIGHT - which looks to me like a stomach (more than a germ?) and has a little small thing like a gall bladder (?) or a tiny sea urchin (?) incorporated in the SAME symbol/pictogram. I thought maybe THAT little thing in the top right of that SAME "stomach" icon was the germ..?? My symbols are lined up exactly as shown in Dudas_'s image above.. and the symbols don't change. I don't get (so far) any extra symbol appearing or disappearing, just the up/down arrows change. Maybe I need to get seriously sick, but so far haven't managed.. I don't even see any color changes in my icons. Except I THINK I got a color change in the blood icon when I once bled to death, but I wasn't REALLY noticing right at that moment like I should have been. -

When it was argued over on PC (for years) - seems most folk were SERIOUSLY anti hopper..BUT seems most folk were seriously anti login delays TOO .. no one wanted to put up with "long" login waits.. and the rest just shouted "play on private hive servers". BI came up with a compromise that solved combat logs and fast log-out-and-in behind your enemy <pretty good compromise, I thought> but didn't do much to put off server hoppers across high loot areas.. Server hopping on the PC public hive is still by FAR the quickest way to go through 10 or 15 bases or airfields.. if that's how you want to play.. How about : YES you can log straight back in to the same Hive (public or private)(same server or different server) , BUT if you don't wait 5 minutes you get a random spawn login, NOT back to the location you logged out. - I think we're kind of on the same wavelength here. ? -

Is that not a stomach ?, wow.. I'm pretty sure it's a Stomach, 4th from right (but if I'm wrong.. then I'm wrong) .. .. So how do you know when you are stuffed and about to throw up ? On PC experimental I've been drinking from any water I find, to try this out.. but so far nothing happened.. haven't got sick.. found some water purification tabs - BUT seeing as I aint sick from drinking river water anyway , up to now, they make no difference I can see. Naturally, I don't get a message "you have purified the water in your bottle" or any of that <easy to understand stuff> we used to have. Like : "you feel sick" etc.. You sure this 4th from right is NOT a stomach? with maybe one little bacteria next to it? .. I expected the little "bacteria" thing next to the "stomach" to go red or even start flashing if you drank petrol, or something you really shouldn't drink (maybe petrol or cleaning fluid - or perhaps also ingesting cholera-water or eating worms, or raw or burned meat, ya know?? ) Like I said above - I'm just going to have to eat a load of worms and see what happens to my "Stomach" * In the pic you show : Why is the player losing health? a) is he stuffed and about to throw up? b) is he hungry and beginning to suffering from heat ? c) is he regaining health from LOW after something that happened earlier in the game ? d) how does he know he's not poisoned? - he can see his stomach is <full> but his "eat" value is still <hungry> ?? So perhaps he's stuffed himself with something that has no food value (water) or negative food value (petrol) .. ?? But if he's just drunk a gutfull of water shouldn't his temperature be stabilizing after overheating? (unless he has cholera). I ask because I don't know the answers to these things. Drinking petrol or eating worms is probably the easiest way to find out (if that is still in the game). xxP -
0.63 Exp, Bacteria symbol when drinking from well
pilgrim* replied to Dudas_'s topic in New Player Discussion
Maybe this answer is dumb, but what "bacteria" symbol exactly ?.. are you sure you don't just mean the stomach symbol?? 4th symbol counting from the right is your stomach. When you put water in it, after drinking a little you will get the 3 arrows upwards for a very short time - a second or so (because you've been putting stuff into your stomach) - then they vanish.. On PC (exp) I haven't BEEN ill yet with this graphics HUD, but Ive tried (drinking from lakes & rivers mostly all the time) .. I GUESS if you are gut-ill you should get arrows pointing DOWN from your stomach, then from your red cross life symbol? - Like if you are thirsty you get arrows pointing down from your water level indicator, or bleeding you get arrows pointing down from your blood count.. <duh, guess I'm going to have to eat worms till I'm stuffed, then see what happens... {sigh}> Can anyone point us/me to a clarification on this please? - thanx people. xxP -
Lockpicks are just for the player to lock or unlock doors. No door is locked unless a player has locked it. .. So - for instance - if you want a quiet <safer> place to log out in the middle of town, go up to a second floor and lock yourself in a room .. hmm?? Also you can lock a shed out in the country, I've seen players stash a barrel in a shed and lock the door.. How useful that is I'll leave you to decide. For me (on PC) lockpicks seem to get worn down fast, after only being used a few times.
-
bye friend, have a nice life.. stay frosty
-
A-OK dude - so what would YOU use to lock a door ?
-
.. er .. a lockpick both LOCKS and UNLOCKS a door .. hmmm .. how useful that is depends on if you've got one or not, and who else carries them, and what they use them for
