    Just found...

yes, each animal-type has a different zone of detection.. when I say 'inside their zone of detection, they run" .. I don't mean wolves, lets not get confused about that. Try sneaking up on a heard of deer.. or in fact try killing any animal (except WOLVES) with a melee weapon instead of a gun.. you soon suss the distance they become alarmed. It doesn't change however you approach them, or if they can see you or not.

doesn't matter with animals - you can crawl through bushes or be behind a hill completely out of sight (or in a shed, behind a wall, wear a ghillie, wherever), as soon as your avatar gets inside that animal's zone of detection they run. Even cows.

    PVE Server. Disable PVP Damage

If you want a safe zone, like a trade zone (but you don't want to say what you want, I guess..) then you are looking for the same thing as Gizda in this thread, and maybe that would interest other server owners too, and maybe it already has-been/is-being implemented ? Invulnerability inside or in a zone around - a trade post, maybe would be the easiest way to go at that. Alternatively - if you are looking for "disable PVP damage only" across the whole map - you could start by looking at how weapons damage is inflicted IF you are interested in LEARNING anything about <How To Mod> . But if you want someone to hand you a readymade 'no pvp server' where you just run a chunk of code that you don't understand at all - then why not SAY you are NOT a modder, you are a beginner or it's beyond your level (this is no shame) and ask some of the big Scripters on this thread to help you out, (because some of them are HOT), or point you in the right direction? No-PvP zones HAVE been done before, as I remember.. ( just not for DayZ SA =YET= [28 Sept. 2018] ) The Modders/Scripters are generally a VERY FRIENDLY bunch and pretty KEEN and they like to STAY up to date with their skills, and check out what other folk are doing. If you think "structurally", you can see ways it can be done.. but it would take some lines of script, not "set one variable" .. but I said that already, didn't I? Sorry.. I thought yous guys were Modders.. (scuse me, I'll just leave now and close the door on my way out, thanx).

    PVE Server. Disable PVP Damage

I just did.. If you want a working server (delivered) to your specs, tell the experienced modders on this blog what you want exactly (they ARE here). Maybe someone will do the work for you or has already done it.. If you don't want to damage a player, then set the damage seed parameter(s) to zero. You can start from there ? I'm not a modder, dude - I started on machine code and FORTH and served my time on (bloody) C and Java .. I don't DO that stuff NO more .. (in fact I shouldn't even BE here.. See you around!) .. ;) haha

    FLIES

YES let's Go For It... (and think how happy the Xbox players will be, too!) FLIES are just too good to miss out on. ( I was saving pro-active zombs for the next thread.. e.g. their =random= walk in the Mod was slightly biased towards any local player, so if you didn't move they gradually closed in on your location.. this will be GOOD for gameplay when "base building" or "barricading" turns up.)

Weird shxt you've encountered whilst playing.

I also saw a rabbit fly overhead once, back when I was young (maybe 2016?) .. it was going fast in a straight line about 30-40 feet off the ground, and I was kind of amazed so I didn't take a screenshot. I guess this long-ago rabbit-migration is why there are no rabbits left in Chernarus now? It was heading East.

    PVE Server. Disable PVP Damage

so you want that players can fall off buildings & ladders too ?? ..OK .. so you DO want Invulnerability .. so set ALL the possible player damage calculations in your safe zone to Zero If .. in THAT territory .. (if player damage off) .. set total damage calculation=Zero .. go to end of damage calculation .. else do the damage calculation Then in effect you're using your sweet SetAllowDamage handle, you're just scripting what it is a handle to. If you want to just mess with what's already there, without doing any work, then you can't mess with what's already NOT there.. hmmm ?

    PVE Server. Disable PVP Damage

<< you DONT WANT Invulnerability>> please read and think .. you ONLY want bullet hit damage on a player to total up to Zero, or you want bullets to miss the player box... ya know... ? that doesn't stop them from punching it out, natch.. but it also stops them from shooting themselves in the head, right ? <heh, win some lose some, it's your server and you can write script> If you could set player.SetAllowDamage to false then what are the wolves and zombies going to do ?

Weird shxt you've encountered whilst playing.

Weird Shit ! ... I put in that Curse of green mountain link right after droefheid's first post... and it vanished! But I aint been near Green mountain since the last time I was up there !!! That place must have some kind of long term effect.. Now Biohaze will start vanishing too (unless he's wearing that Voodoo-Order of the Golden Dawn sign, maybe?). It's [{whisper}] a dangerous place to even talk about [{end whisper}]. * If you get bored by KOS go up into the northern highlands by yourself meditate see if you can levitate a rock xxP

    PVE Server. Disable PVP Damage

Thought you modders wanted to Mod the GAME, not Mod the NOT-GAME ?? Why should "they" <fix it> to make it the game YOU want, so then YOU can mod it without the effort of MODDING it.. ?? you already have the player.SetAllowDamage handle.. but what is it for? .. you dont want Invulnerability, you only need shots fired at a player to miss them <.. hmm..> - you want to Mod with TOTALLY ZERO mental effort ?

    Logging out mid fight.

On PC Experimental right now, when you log out you can still see the game action, and you get an onscreen timer at center-window of 15 seconds, with the options, "Exit" & "Stop" - If you 'Stop' the timer you stay in the game, if you press 'Exit', you are immediately out of the game back to the login screen, but your avatar stays in the game to the end of the timer. I think 15 secs is too short. I think 30 secs would break nobody's neck at all, specially as it's going to take you around 20 secs or so to think about it and do the manips to log back in ( so you're not really losing any play time anyway, unless you got an insta-log fetish ) - And a 30-40 second log out would give you the time to know =FEAR= ... .. will you scream when you see CarlTheGooner kick the door down and come in to GIT YA while you're trying to Panic Log ?? .. <wow>. that's ONE of the things that makes the game Interesting... you got yourself in a bad bad situation, now FEEL the FEAR.. (mmuahahahah) .. Seriously.

    Logging out mid fight.

Can't be done - unless all the servers are Private (which comes down to the same thing).

    Severograd freezing and lagging

Yes bent - it seems like the Xbox gpu is NOT causing a problem running DayZ graphics, even though <<the console was generally criticized for running games at a technically lower graphical level than the PlayStation 4>> .. if it were MY problem, I'd look at the APU and the way Xbox AND/OR the server deals with the DayZ network bubble. But it is not my problem, & it may be much simpler than that, and BI <the experts> are surely WORKING on it ATM so long as you HAVE read the Feedback guide & put in your FEEDBACK REPORT.

    Severograd freezing and lagging

You mean the two vids 6104-1118 & 6104-1101 run together as one sequence = 1 minute with just 1 frame on screen .. will be interesting to know what Xbox is DOING for this 1 minute. <right> Were you playing on a high pop server? Is it Xbox One , One S, or Xbox One X? Did you get into town and up to that floor of the station without any problems? Players came into your zone and the server was overdosing to link their info in to your network bubble? Or Xbox decided it had something more important to do than show you the game? .. I'll just step back and let the experts sort it..

  21. say - we didn't both work for Omni Consumer Products, sometime.. did we ? You still with them ? After Mangnavolt, I heard OCP went on to design Steam, and some other stuff .. how's OCP going these days ? - I guess we had the same boss < don't worry folks .. old timer technical joke >

    Tents?

The player Interactions with objects in the game - mags, inventory, game objects, environment, database saves, other players, persistence, are the CORE of the game - THAT core structure has to be solid and working - otherwise you add in other stuff and end with a MESS.. This is why the patches sound like they are "not interesting" so far. You need the foundation of the gameplay actions to be unbreakable before you can build on that, and then go on to add the "fancy stuff" that makes it a more fun game. What the player sees is really the outside shell of the game structure..Because you don't SEE changes or notice them, doesn't mean BI are not working like hell on fitting the REAL game into Xbox. If they stuck in "everything at once" on a shaky base, then 'everything at once' would just jam up and bug like crazy. It would be hell.

Game was fun for a while

Yes - looking down the Official (public hive ) list - I chose the first medium pop server I come to.. (playing on on PC standard game) .. Ive probably got a well known server I play where I keep a tent or a barrel and know some local people.. but I maybe only go back there from time to time, to drop in ..I go from the top of the list (by ping) and look for a medium pop and play there. After a while you have 3 or 4 servers you play that are good, and a couple that are nasty. Sometimes it's fun to play a session on the nasty ones.. hmm ? Maybe if some group mistreated me there, I'll go back sometime and scout around see if I can't find their tents & gear. I know already they won't like me if they notice I'm around. So that can make a session interesting .. This is why I like public servers. Private, is too limiting for me (but if private is how you want to play.. '..your choice)

Game was fun for a while

There are 2 or 3 PC public hive servers that are 60 full on Saturday night with people waiting to get in to PVP.. the PVPers go there for their big weekend fight.. but you don't think those players gear up on that server, do you ?? .. they gear up in the week - and have fun too, on SOME OTHER server, and stash their loot there - and then drop in to the Big Fight all geared up & grinding their teeth an' foaming at the mouth. When they get killed (pretty quick) they log back into their stash on their usual server and gear up again - and do it again. I guess a lot of players do this if they want PVP .. the PvP servers get a rep fast. Check it out. Some players maybe want to go in there with just a Fire Axe, because that's how they feel, but I guess they mainly find the Axe on their usual server and have it ready when they go across to PvP.. I don't go in those servers because (a) they are Full.. and (b) I don't hoard much gear and it's like being dropped in the middle of Stalingrad. It's a short lifetime place. Who needs it? And I have a slow reaction time, ya know? Play how you like, people.
