    FLIES

Dead really don't have to rot (lol, you sick-sick wierdo, lol) .. & that won't be good for server performance either.. If you want to up performance and keep the fallen for longer, despawn their backpack and whatever they are carrying (at the normal rate as it happens in the game now) .. leave the body wearing it's clothing with whatever is in it's pockets.. and anything ruined despawn that too.. As BI can now run 100 player servers (in test, at least) .. then we can argue that say 40 of those players could be DEAD and the server would STILL run as good as it did when they were alive.. ?? Even better in fact as they wouldn't be moving around much.. right ? So on a 60 player - IF it were FULL.. a dead player could be left lying where he fell until another player wanted to log in, then the dead player would despawn to (make place) for the new log ... If you run a first-dead first-despawn stack, AND you despawn the dezad after they are looted.. then your 60 player server MAY fill up slowly.. but many of the new logins will be players who just died on the server.. so in practice the "full server" including alive/dead players, would only turn up on the max PvP servers Or on a 60 player, set the max alive/dead to say 40 or 50, so that as 50 alive players showed up, the dead would despawn more quickly to keep players on servers at that level. * Why not? well I guess if that worked it would in fact be really more USEFUL to use at least SOME of the server capacity for the ZOMBIES. Because they definitely need cheering up a bit.. they don't even chase me anymore, they get exhausted after 10 seconds.. they got no PEP and no ZAP or ZIP, neither.. they look and move like they've been standing in the rain too long. Need more zomb variation with more attack (like a zombie that could RUN FAST or a zomb that could kick a door down, or MORE than 3 in a town?) (maybe they ARE rotting away in the game right now?).. xxP

    Server hopping

No we dont both know, scott - Ive never played on private hive servers.. OK. So stiff upper lip mate, stop blubbering - wait for BI to implement Xbox shards .. read what Baty says about Xbox following PC development. In the meantime - if you REALLY cant stand hoppers, DONT GO where hoppers go... GOT IT? - there are 100 ways to play this game. You have "played since the Mod" , you claim - so you have played PC (why not go back to it?) So you already KNOW from WAY BACK why the public (Official) hive is NOT divided into individual servers with different avatars on each. And you know the work BI put in to set that up. Stop whining: go SHOOT some hoppers on Xbox.. If you have "played since the Mod" (2012?) you are NOT AT ALL a typical Xbox player - let them work out for themselves the good and the bad of THEIR brand new experience. If you still HAVE your PC, get back on, dude, it and join a whitelist server where you were HAPPY. the PC private/community & official hive argument is OLD .. it was an half-baked argument between DRAB PC players and it dribbled into the sands of time and vanished into nothing YEARS AGO.. There is plenty of Xbox discussion NOW, with various suggestions to deal with hopping - I noted a few THREADS above. Try reading them, or JOINING them, and see if you can make a positive contribution. But please dump the << Make All Servers run on Individual shards >> : you KNOW that will annihilate the Xbox player-base just as it starts up. WHY do you think BI started the Official hive in the first place ? xxP * * * I suggest a 3 minute logout countdown in key areas. Then in a face-to-face you have to fight or die - or run like hell Don't anyone complain about a 3 minute logout - you knew what you were up for when you went in there. If you don't want to take that risk for any reason, stay out of those places.

    Tents?

Hi Baron - When <persistence> comes to Xbox you will see it changes the game and opens it up enormously. (like having to remember what server you left your tent on, for instance) ENJOY

    Server hopping

Why not just wait till private servers (with shard hives) come out on Xbox? Then go back to a private hive. It took a lot of hassle for BI to negotiate "public" server instances with the Server Providers (even before persistence was introduced). On PC, many players use the Official hive servers, and some privately hired server instances link to the Official hive instead of running their own shard (because that's how they want to play) - if you want Xbox whitelist or 'clan' servers where you only ever meet the same 15 players, or no PvP, etc .. OK - if that's your style those "private shard" servers will be along in a while. Hey - You'll be able to run your OWN private hive server !! Then no one will bother you except your own friends. Then I'll bet you'll all live at a military base, right? A lot of players WANT to move between public hive (Official) servers AS THEY HAVE ALWAYS DONE since DayZ started. I am one of them. (and PERSONALLY I don't Hardly Ever go anywhere near any high loot places. That's NOT why I play). Also the logout timer will certainly be set (if enough players WANT it) to make hopping on Xbox considerably less interesting and less safe. (at the moment on PC with a 15 second timer I can log out the first time I hear a wolf howl, if I want to, and <probably> log back in without a bite) I'd put it at 3 minutes myself. That would totally change gameplay everywhere on the map, and especially around high loot mil bases and airports. * ps - If you don't like hoppers right now on Xbox, just don't go where the hoppers go ? (is that too obvious?) Or lie in wait for them and kill them ? - there - two easy solutions that will work for you Right Now, and Zero software changes involved.

    Logging out mid fight.

I said " can't be done .. unless" In DayZ there is the Public hive (called Official) run by BI themselves. Many servers run on the Official hive - and playing on 'Official' servers a kitted character can move between servers with anything they can carry. There are also Private hives (called "Community") - those severs do NOT have one shared hive for all of them. Each person who hires a 'private' DayZ instance can get an attached 'private hive' with it, called a "shard". Players on that hive only keep their character-state on THAT hive and THAT server .. if they move to a Public (Official hive) server they start from zero. If they move to a DIFFERENT Private server, which has it's own <different> private hive attached to it, they start from zero. Because their character is NOT stored on THAT hive. OK? So yes, it's silly to say "impossible" - it is POSSIBLE that DayZ players can win big-heart-points for catching butterflies and hugging teddy-bears.. that's TECHNICALLY possible. So ask DayZ players about it, or BI. On PC, some servers are listed as 'Community' (meaning they are hired by a private individual who runs that DayZ sever instance with it's own hive) and so, if you move between those private servers you start with a new character each time - AND some private servers are whitelisted, some have playing rules, some won't let you in at all. Others let anyone in - but any gear you collect is only stored on THAT server hive. AND others just hire their own server and connect it to the Official hive. On PC the Public (Official) hive coves ALL the 'Public servers'. Anyone can log in to any of them. Your same character can visit any you want. This Official/Community hive stuff will also happen on Xbox in a short while, I'm sure. then you can log in to a "private" server and your character will only exist on that server (if they let you in). This is why I said - your idea << "cant be done unless" ALL the severs are Private.>> As things stand, BI won't go for that, I'm sure. A lot of players won't either. - but nothing is impossible - In DayZ I've seen a flying rabbit. Another player saw a zombie fall up into the sky. So "impossible" aint ever a word I attach to software. xxP

About that 3 minute logout countdown in key zones - if you log out while your avatar is still in the game (as you can do now on PC) the 'avatar logout' countdown window should continue on your login screen. so you don't get frustrated and crazy (or stuck) trying to log in to the next server while your avatar is still in the last one. You know how excited and irrational those reddit folk get about little stuff.. * * * Jack O'Neill ??? .. guess again xxP

    Server hopping

<<< I just wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts on server hopping and wether they feel like it is a fair, legitimate tactic; or if they would prefer the devs try to implement some way of blocking it. >>> server hopping server hopping .. just examples .. This last month, a lot of folk seem to be starting new Xbox threads on Server Hopping and Ghosting (I count 15 threads on that subject in 30 days?) .. I hope these players who start threads do actually =MAYBE= read each other's threads too .. then perhaps they could get together & form an action group... the more threads on the SAME subject, the less anyone reads what anyone else says, IMO. Short attention span ? Lack of interest in other players ?
  16. Are you on PC or on Xbox, please? - you ask the same question in both. You have played already and now you can't - right ? When you have the server listing open - tick the top right box <only list servers for this character> over your character's <name> - then you will ONLY get a list of servers this character CAN play on.. If you have made more than one character, click left or right by the character name box, until it shows the character you want to play.. then the server list will only show where that character can play. Also tick "correct version only" in the list of options.. fill in the rest as you want. Choose Official servers, see if your character is listed there (meaning see if a list if servers come up where your chosen character can play) - then try Community servers, see of any servers are listed there (that means your chosen character can play on those listed servers)... Maybe you started off playing on a Community private server, and the character you have on THAT server - you can only play him on that server. Most Community servers are like that. * Easiest way to start fresh, is design yourself a character (give him/her a name on the char design page) - then go to Servers, choose Official. (at the top of the listing window) tick <only list server for this character>.. make sure his name is selected, tick <correct version only> .. try to log on to a server on the list. Maybe you know this stuff already.. so 'scuse me .. just some folk haven't sussed it (it aint obvious, till you notice) .. If that doesn't work, tell us WHAT message comes up when you are kicked.

    Are raincoats functional?

on PC, yes.. & you need to wear a hat. And not stand in deep water. Also if you have something damp or wet in your kit after the rain stops, carry it in your hand a short while, it will dry out.

1 month of DayZ on Xbox One.

how long have you been in gaming history ?
  20. pilgrim*

People taking a lot of bullets ?

Depends on the gun, depends on the players state of health, depends on what he's wearing.. depends on how often you really DID hit him, and where. A clip of 15 bullets all headshot hits SHOULD ..er.. just about do it. - It might take 2 or 3 if he's wearing a helmet (for instance). If you see blood spray, it is not the "no shot" glitch that Xbox players have talked about. I guess. Gews is the known expert on this (on PC) - may be worth riffing back through some of his posts on bullet dynamics in DayZ - he really does know everything on that subject, re PC - and at the moment (30 Sept) Xbox and PC Experimental seem pretty close.. I think deliberately. If it IS a glitch that you are head-shotting 10+ times, seeing blood spray (so you are really hitting), and the target is still standing, then it is a glitch that no one else has reported. Try it out with your friends for an hour, see if it is reproducible - describe it in a reproducible manner and put in a Report. BI will be glad to know.

    PVE Server. Disable PVP Damage

Not even if you're wearing something on your head, like a great helm or a mil helmet for instance ? Are you joking ? Wearing "nothing" on your head is a special instance of wearing "something"; so send it through the <something> hit box damage calculation. OK? - If I've got time on my hands when the days get shorter I'll draw you a flow diagram of what happens from - <weapon attack on hitbox> through to <you are dead> .. but if you want to Mod, shouldn't you be doing this 1-2-3 overview of <WTF is going on> stuff for yourself ? Seems like nobody has written the script you want YET, which ain't surprising, today is 30 Sept 2018. When were the server files released? Put your feet up and wait for someone to do the work. ps Tom_48_97 will say you can't do it AND put it out through Steam to the DayZ community. also battleye wont put up with it, natch - it's a hack, ain't it. * Ask Tom_48_97 about it : or ask github about it : https://github.com/Arkensor/DayZCommunityOfflineMode xxP

In PC Experimental today, 30 Sept, you can walk up to a chicken and punch it in the head unless it's full daylight - this is the first time I've noticed this. They just stand there (maybe they are zombie chickens). In the Standard Game last time I was there, they used to try to get out of your way and you had to run around trying to hit them with something. I don't know what animal reactions are like on Xbox but I've noticed a lot of people saying they eat chicken. When you get barrels on Xbox (soon I guess) you can use them as persistent stashes, but you can also use them to cure skins; with cured hides you can make clothing and stuff. I think Emuthreat has done this with wolfskin, on PC. He's a kind of wolf-hunter, last I heard.

OK - I'm willing to be shown wrong.. I'd be very pleased in fact. - I guess a guy in a gillie suit SHOULD stand a better chance of getting closer to game, or someone skirting round behind a hill crest, or keeps out of sight, rather than just running at them .. If crawling gets you closer to hunted animals, I'm all for it. My experience with them is that they have been pretty certainly predictable (even how far they run before they stand). If I'm wrong - then that's totally great. Also perhaps most players shoot game from a distance, so they don't notice how close you need to be when different animals spook? I used to try to kill boars with an axe - running in you could get SOMETIMES get one swing at them as they took off.. if they ran uphill against a fallen tree you could maybe get one.. but it was about a 50 to 1 chance.. (or less).. xxP Note: in PC Experimental right now (30 Sept) you can walk up to a chicken and punch it in the head.. so I really don't know what's going on ATM.
