There's a difference between "capitalism & communism" and consumerism (as the chinese demonstrate, them being a socialist country "aiming for" communism - but producing consumer goods like crazy) - do you think we will have time to come full circle before we run out of the strategic materials necessary to support our civilization? Consumerism does have enormous bearing on human rights, of course. - just wondering Light reading for you, HERE - and the timelines are worth noticing. Only a page, won't take 10 mins. Nothing about the Illuminati though.. Just an intro then short sit. reps. condensed from government & military & scientific & economic studies. Ya know? <no prob.> xxP

OK, so this takes us back to what Poolofdeath1337 was saying in the first post in this thread - his thread.

TRUE - very True .. YES !! - Let's hope THAT is SORTED.

I have heard people speak of this thing. I think I know of it.. it is big like a backpack, yes? It has many-many things in it. Some of these things we know and some we do not know, but we must carry them still without knowing because it is in our life. I have heard of this. Yes, certainly. I remember, an old blind man spoke of it in the village. It was long ago. Where he went away after that, I do not know. How can we know these things? They are like the things in our life that we must carry with us, not knowing. It is like a backpack, is it not? But if a fish is alive, what does it carry? If the sky is alive what does it dream? If a man is alive, what does he wish for? Is not this - the thing you speak of?

Yes - I hadn't thought of that - a molotov should drive zombies back from an area for a time , or kill them if they are dumb enough or close enough to walk into the heat..
-
hmm, three different things below - I'll just say them all at once, then I wont have to THINK about them anymore Molotovs would be useful for clearing houses. I think BI got the light leakage under control, when it was a problem for players using torches inside house's, didn't they?? That was sorted. (tell me if I'm wrong) So <flame/smoke> is just another application of a light source NOT more difficult that a hearth lighting a room (just a graphics variation on a campfire), but it also spreads heat - And smoke rises through doors and staircases.. Simple AI - it spreads and rises..the molotov heats one area, the smoke spreads through doors and up stairs, along corridors. Natch - molotov "smoke-light" causes player incremental damage. That should be feasible with the particle effects now in the game. Just a variation on what is there now. Plus a ripped-off zombie AI function to move the smoke clouds around. * * * AND ps while I'm there - I never understood why BI had such problems with "CELLARS" I mean I understand their "reasons" but I don't understand the rationale ... (the landscape has been redesigned several times since this first came up) Look BI dudes and dudesses - 1) You make a square PIT in the country, in a FLAT area - make it standard 'one-floor' depth with the sides "as steep as you can get them". (give it rock or rough stone texture sides) 2) You build a house that is DEFINITELY larger than the pit on all sides. ( so house floorplan = "larger" & scenery pit = considerably "smaller". got it? ) 3) From inside it's ground floor the house model has has a trapdoor and ladder, or a staircase, going DOWN one story beneath it ..(same as the roof or chimney going up, ya know.. except on the bottom).. 4) You place the house on top of the pit and settle it nicely onto the GROUND all around the pit. Now you have a standard house, and in the middle of the main room there is a TRAPDOOR and a ladder down into .. darkness - you can DO darkness, right? Even if you have to set the house manually - try this with 2 or 3 of the big buildings in cities.. give them an old cellar which is just in fact an oblong in the ground under the building. - with access from above. you CAN spawn loot there, or add scenery objects. I know you (BI) were - at one time - thinking about this and messing with it - My estimation is that you didn't consider that you just have to make the building floorplan much larger than the "hole/steep square valley/ravine/pit/whatever" that the building sits over. There doesn't have to be anything interesting in it, just "darkness" and (maybe loot) a ladder up and down, and a manhole cover .. ya know ?? * * * AND As a final thought Ive been mulling over for a WHILE. You ought to be able to take the pin out of a GRENADE and hold it in your hand for any length of time before you throw it.. BUT THEN if you carry out any other hand movement.. like e.g. being SHOT - or putting your hands on your head to surrender.. or being handcuffed .. you DROP the grenade... OK ?? <nice hu??... take the bandits out with you> .. (or maybe you could fake it even with just a DROP option to go with the THROW option, to make life easier) xxP

The main thing to remember about a large corporation is it is a non-human life form. Don't ever forget that.

DUDE, It's a PAY TO PLAY WORLD Take over the distribution network, then you control the content providers Anybody who CREATES anything has to go THROUGH YOU to DISTRIBUTE it. and ANYBODY who PLAYS ANYTHING, pays YOU to PLAY IT. Hey, where did the internet go? Intelligence test: In this video, what is Microsoft NOT SAYING about YOUR wonderful future ? They left something out of the pitch, it must have been <deliberate> , right? Can you spot the missing info? <<its actually about choice for you>> ROFLMAO

Ever heard of Microsoft Millennium or Microsoft 8 or MS 8.1 ??... are you sure your windows 10 is working "OK" now ??.. OR 'scuse me - I mean are you sure your Xbox is working OK now that Microsoft are on their fourth version of Xbox One due to multi problems and complaints concerning all the previous units they sold (and new complaints and problems about the latest) - - BUT if you read the disclaimer you signed when you bought into the Microsoft "package deal", they DENY any responsibility for ANY EXPECTATION you have, they disclaim ANY FUNCTIONALITY you may have imagined or they may have "suggested" and DO NOT claim that Xbox can do ANYTHING specific AT ALL.. hardware or software.. if it doesn't work as you expect they MAY at their discretion replace it with another one that also doesn't work as you expect, but it's YOUR problem, NOT THEIRS. Historically it was Microsoft who INVENTED the "SOFTWARE TOTAL NON-FITNESS FOR USE" DISCLAIMER.. You DO READ that stuff, right ?? I feel sympathy for consumer rights (NO SHIT!) .. But I have been involved, been interested, argued & worked in development for a LONG time (back since ARPANET) and seen the big companies muscle in over the last quarter century.. Mainly "the masses" simply did NOT stand up to them.. it took them 20+ years and billions of cash to get a stranglehold on the Internet, and they aint QUITE got it yet... WHY do you THINK they are plugging Games Machines instead of PCs?.. Because you are NOT ROOT of your games machine, Microsoft is in charge of it, not you - you never REALLY own it., you just paid to tie yourself to Microsoft. you pay for what Microsoft chooses (to max profit) & only what THEY let you have, and End Of Story. WHY did you make THAT choice to go along with THAT crap? You should have known better. JeeeZ [my answer = because it was an easy, cheap and ill advised choice, made in ignorance - tell me I'm wrong]. Millions of people (literally MILLIONS) are making the same dumb decision right now - multiply that by the cost per Xbox/Playstation/Etc to see why the Games Machine mega-corps are Laughing At You. Bit if you are waking up a bit and wondering WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON - then I sympathize with you.. but BI is not the place to start..if they stand or fall it wont make a blind bit of difference.. BI are a small (we can almost say TINY) company.. and there are VERY FEW of THOSE small/medium left after Sony and Disney have bought them up and STAMPED them OUT... I paid - I don't remember - 30 bucks (?) for this DayZ game maybe 6 years back and that entitles me to FREE PLAY and FREE UPGRADES FOREVER... and that, friend, is NOT typical.. xxP Unpack your machine & read the Xbox small print * p.s. The GDC Originally called the Computer Game Developers Conference, the first conference was organized in April 1988 by Chris Crawford in his San Jose, California-area living room. About twenty-seven designers attended. In 2008 there were 18,000 attendees. Today Sony Computer Entertainment, Microsoft and Nintendo deliver KEYNOTES at the GDC conference showcasing upcoming products and technologies. hmmm ?

one hit? - so where is the <Guns Don't Work> in that ? .. please don't jump on me for asking .. thanks. I'm just passing through seeing a one hit kill with a strange headline.. seems like some Xboxers are keen to start their own threads but NOT keen to read other player's threads.. am I right? The result is a hundred threads with just one or two posts in each, plus ONLY a few threads with real discussion and info exchange going on - and THOSE are swamped by groan-groan go-nowhere same-same me-me threads and never get read by 90% of Xboxers who just want to START their own THREAD EVERY DAY.. then let it drop, or use it to exchange some insults. But seriously, don't ever READ any other Xbox threads or you might FIND the answer BEFORE you post.. Then all you can post is <thanx> at the bottom of the thread, and that really ain't Macho. ONE SHOT KILL eh ? - nice. you got a video of that? MY beef is it rained in DayZ Exp. ALL weekend but I aint going to START a THREAD about it. (or maybe I might... )

Writing Notes...The biggest "small" content mechanic.
pilgrim* replied to philbur's topic in General Discussion
Yes it was in previous builds. Players left notes. Top right of this page: Do a search in <All Content> for the exact words "found a note" - there are plenty of stories about notes. There also was a great selection of BOOKS too in previous builds, (full whole complete-text readable books, from start to finish.. the whole text. Plenty of classics... Many folk tore out pages to light fires (you could do that).. but I used to sit in a bush and read Moby Dick when it was raining & waiting for my tomatoes to grow. That is one hell of a good book. Must have been a selection of over 70 (?) mainly fiction classics in the game. There was a kind of clan of ... well, a group of players, who used to go around with no pants & carrying a Bible and read from it to players to convert them. I was on the hospital roof in Cherno a long while ago when one of these guys climbed up excited & cheerful with no pants and started reading some passage to a sniper who was up there (a Dutch guy I think - we'd just met and didn't feel like shooting and we'd been exchanging stuff, he was a relaxed guy) .. after half a page of being read at, this sniper stood up and fell dead.. He wasn't bleeding he wasn't shot, he didn't suicide.; he just heard the words and dropped stone dead.. This was recorded in a Youtube video but that vanished a while ago I guess, I couldn't find it again. - but Moby Dick is definitely a great book. Maybe other old-time bush-men remember their favorite literature in the game ?? xxP
