Can I say it now ? ... 1.O YYYYyyyyyeeaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!
-
you certainly got that right, mah ol' Emu !!
-
Why shout for more servers now when you are shouting what a mess the servers are now ? - just a question. When Xbox is ROLLING REAL SMOOTH then enough servers will be online for everyone who wants to play, worldwide - that's got to be 100% certain. The bottom line is to sell the game to whoever wants to play it. I guess BI have figured that ?

I'm saying there are already 8663 comments on "server hopping" and I'm agreeing with some of them and disagreeing with some of them. Look up "hopping" (one word) and "ghosting" and you'll find another 10,000+ comments and suggestions and arguments. DayZ is not a game that has "safe places" in it. This makes it an unusual game. Check this out - most games have areas of high risk and areas of high safety (breathing space or security?) - I think many players, coming from those standard games, find it stressful to be at risk ALL the time, from login to logout/death. One great thing about DayZ is you never at ANY moment know WHERE the risk is coming from. It's a true "player survival" game. Brain and wits and knowledge count a lot more than kit. Knowing you are not ever safe is the starting point. If that <constant unexpected insecurity> leaves the game, it wont be worth playing anymore. Some players starting the game don't really get this - they go through a phase of thinking DayZ is "unfair" because it kills them when they don't expect it to for reasons they don't expect. Let's see how Bases play out.. I think a player would have to be crazy to trap themselves in one of those.. suicidal and highly visible .. I used to like helicopters in the old game because I hunted them and I shot them down or destroyed them on the ground. so I don't object at ato bases and I'm sure they'll be a lot of fun. There have been MANY arguments about hopping and about special zones, and ways to stop people from logging out of fights, or ghosting, etc.. Lets see what BI does with BASES. They will iron out the glitches. And THEN: In this game, finding a weakness in your plan doesn't mean there's something wrong with the game, it means there's something wrong with your plan. xxP

So in fact you have no idea what the "release" will be like because you've never played it?
-
Let me try a Blog Search (it only takes a couple of seconds).. here ya go.. Search: "Server Hopping" FOUND 8663 RESULTS Wonder if any of them have anything interesting to say ? Oh .. I remember now .. that's right .. I read them all already.. * Say! - what's going to happen to your base when someone turns up when you arent logged in ? And what's going to happen to you, in your base, when Parazite turns up with his hand grenades, and a sniper up in the trees ? Dayz is a Terribly EXISTENTIAL Game, aint it? * [note : In the view of the existentialist, the individual's starting point (call it the 'log in') is characterized by what has been called "the existential attitude", or a sense of disorientation, confusion, or dread in the face of an apparently meaningless or absurd world. Many existentialists (including DayZ players) have regarded traditional philosophies as abstract and remote from real concrete human experience.] xxP

The game was "not released" a while ago and the general public could play it !! It "is released" now and the same general public can still play it !! wow - that's soooooooo different. show me your legal definition of "release" and I'll show you my legal definition of "general public" .. in the meantime lets stop squabbling. No member of the <general public> has to get involved in this game in any way (or any other game) unless they think its worthwhile. I enjoy it... you got a definition for that? I do what I like in my free time, within the democratic social and human rights contract of the country I live in.. please don't tell me I wasn't playing DayZ as a member of the public since it first reached the public. Have you ever read the Microsoft disclaimer? - just to put things in dogmatic legal perspective ? Try it - have a laugh. You'll definitely Never buy an MS platform when you read exactly what it legally does not entitle you to. Enjoy - BI is not destroying the World today.

(.. I'm wondering) - how do you get even with someone who just ate you ? -
You've been here from the start and its been LIVING HELL, right... ? BI tried every hypocrite trick & torture to break you but they couldn't do it. You are one tough dude. You suffered like a dog but you played on even though you hated the damned twisted game. - So now your parole's come up and you don't know how to face it ? You're free, but combined PTSD & Stockholm Syndrome won't EVER let you leave. (and to me it was just fun, ya know?.. strange how folk take stuff differently).
-
Whatever the version number, the game was released to the general public quite a while ago .. If it was a good or bad idea BACK THEN it was so long ago I don't remember .. Was it ? I thought it was OK.
-
it's real strange this subject of server hopping has never come up before
-
it won't happen

Jungian - pleeeease ! - but I definitely didn't notice that myself .. probably because I don't care what it says on the box-sticker. Frankly my dear, I don't give a Damn. - I bought it YEARS AGO, I aint paid anything SINCE THEN , and that's nearly as much free entertainment as I've had from ANY deal, ever (I wonder how that money splits down into BI wages and profit etc.. ?). I have zero complaints about that. - They are pulling the big lever, the Creative Director has left because they DONT NEED HIM anymore (get it?), that's the END of DayZ Development. - The timing is entirely due to (-1-) the console market. And (-2-) what else is there to DEVELOP? You build your building, you design your aircraft, you construct your bridge, .. and then you go design something else.. I haven't noticed many designers working on the Sydney Opera House or the Golden Gate Bridge or the Tower of London or the Sphinx, recently... just maintenance, right ? Maybe add a new railing? A postcard stand? A repaint ? - DayZ can trail on forever adding on little bits, altering little bits, and changing MINOR stuff, but in 2 years or 5 years from now it will be JUST ABOUT EXACTLY the SAME as it is.. - We'll see what happens, but NOW the aim is a SMOOTH Xbox experience and a LAUNCH. - Back when folk were shouting and foaming at the mouth about ENDGAME, BI decided on Bases, and they also decided on the move to CONSOLE, and those two things have come together. Complete game AS INTENDED, complete MARKET for BI products AS INTENDED.. and so nothing left to do except the varnishing. - that's obvious, obvious, really SOOOOoooooooo OBVIOUS. - so the techs get it smooth and FINISHED for the opening , to SEND IT OUT to the PC gamers and the great MASS of console players - and there are millions of consoles .. just Sony and Microsoft together have more than 600,000,000 units out ATM .. that's home player-buyers, ya know? And then WHAT ELSE IS TO DO ?? - sit back and see what happens. You cant have a game that is everything to everybody. Not Ever. This is a game, not a fundamentalist religion (and maybe you've noticed, all the religious fanatics "A" disagree with the religious fanatics "B" in BIG ways. you CANT please A & B, fact of life. Try and they both hate you for it). If I was developing this game and READ THIS BLOG for one month, I'd DUMP the whole lot of you, (damn crapheads) I'd give you whatever was in the Office at the moment, lock up, and CLOSE IT DOWN. Thanx, Goodbye, Have a Nice Life.. Seriously, have you read the "adult criticism" in this blog ? - NOBODY would put up with that crap for long .. Maybe games developers HAVE TO, but I definitely would NOT. If you don't like the game, go hang yourselves. Future development? - WHY?? - Seriously Emuthreat, take a poll and SEE how many existing players would buy a SECOND COPY of the game if it had "making sandwiches" in it.? Adding a different shape car, a new gun, or a different can of beanz.. you call that DEVELOPMENT ? - Development is OVER, dude.. Personally, I'd like FLIES - then you can call the version any number you like.. but that is NOT going to happen, nothing is going to happen to DayZ.. except fixing glitches this is supposed to make you CHEERFUL and HAPPY because now you HAVE the FINISHED GAME. OK ? Enjoy

.. but there's no downside to cannibalism right now -
OK that's fair - me too.
-
LOL <good grief>
-
.. console mods ?
-
Nothing perfect on THIS planet. What the hell - (wish they'd bring back the flies) - but what the hell. .. lets have fun. I've paid my dues, from here on in everything is free
-
Except me and one or two other people - we know how this will go down. Aint NOBODY going to get HURT. The glitches will be fixed.. It's a pity PC and Xbox players cant MEET on the same server because soon both versions will be SMOOTH - and the two styles of player running their machines on one common ground would be NEAT and a lot of fun. You seem pretty SURE you know about <the Great Disaster that is DayZ>, but .. ('scuse me being direct and honest) - considering the uncouth swearing, the every-post constant attitude-problem, the personal insults against players and individual BI staff - and the <<I am the Prophet of Doooom>> approach, I'd say .. you're faking it. We don't agree with you. But we do have a pretty good idea what is happening and what WILL happen. DayZ 1.0 launch is coming up. OK. That'z the way it IS (nor you nor I won't change it by shouting or cheering) .. IN the Dropship, dude - buckle up & lets GO FOR IT.

<< I feel DayZ has reached a point in which I, much like how Dean felt years back, am no longer needed [..] now that you have started to see and touch DayZ .63 >> - Brian Hicks 05/2018 So Brian had 'nothing more to do' when he left (that's what the guy says) : I obviously read this to mean that there will not be any focus on new-unseen-innovative content .. The innovation and new content phase of DayZ is now in the past, IMO .. it reached it's peak, it WENT AWAY.. .. Seems to me that the TARGET is putting BACK all the stuff that had appeared in the game by 0.62 - and adding some functionality to base-building - I think that's the whole 0.1 strategy and that's as far as DayZ is going to go in the predictable future. Maybe there will be some fancy tweak-or-other might be dropped in down the road, when someone has some <spare time>.. but I wouldn't expect any NEW developments. Apart from BI strategic alignment and console policy - this is why we are now at 0.1; because nothing else is going to happen. (no harm in that, right?) And let's be realistic, we aren't ALL old time players with a DayZ history and scars. Remember, a LARGE number of console players (read what they say on this Blog) are NOT playing DayZ to grow crops, get wet, survive, boil water, move across country, ride bicycles, build ovens, go fishing, get sick, make arrows, or have new, different, never-before-experienced survival/crafting gameplay .. They Are Really not GAGGING for those things. Seems like they want cars , military weapons , and bases. Not ALL console players want only THAT DayZ, natch, but not a majority of PC players even own DayZ either. I think there is a general consensus of opinion on console concerning DayZ - And the console is the market focus. BI is retooling for the console market, both in hardware and conceptually (read this Blog for that specific info - it is there). I have NO "like/dislike" opinion about these events . - just saying. So if we add up : Company strategy + console + debugging + end of innovation + tweaking What do we get : (simple addition) we get - by default - DayZ 1.0 No problem. I put up a Kermit the Frog shouting << Yeaahhhhh !!! >> but it was taken down. call it DayZ 0.62+ or you can even call it DayZ 0.63+ .. but that's what 0.1 is, and will be. Who said : "DayZ has reached a point in which I am no longer needed" = the Creative Director xxP

It was GOOD for me.. was it GOOD for you too ?
-
< Yes. > I would say YES with greater vigour if I were permitted to support BIs decision. {sigh} My <naive> support for BI has been removed as "trolling" and I have been warned not to repeat it (my first ever warning after 2818 posts, dude ! - maybe I should stop while I'm ahead?) - I read this to mean <IM0> there is some stress behind the 0.1 announcement, and perhaps some slight surprise or dismay at the overall tone the blog has taken. On a lighter note : I look forward to bases becoming fully functional so I can make life & death totally miserable for anyone foolish enough to shut themselves in one. I note & deeply appreciate Parazight's insightful comment on "grenades".. This sounds utterly wonderful and really the only sane response. 1.0 = Bring it ON ! (pull the pin and throw it)

PC : For a while here (in France) .. all the low-ping region SA severs were locked to REAL time.. So during the real-life day it was LIGHT, and through the real-life night it was DARK. And that was just incredibly dumb because - except for 2 days at weekends - everyone came home from school or from work and played DayZ all the time, every time, in the DARK. Wow, I got sooooo BORED coming home at the end of the working day and logging in to SUNSETS... <duh> Like is this <My Second Life> or something ?? Sure you get some great Sunsets in DayZ but no survivor spends his whole active day in Twilight and Darkness.. .. Seriously? So if I wanted to play for long in daylight I had to log abroad and look for alternative time zones = with REALLY heavy pings, dude! = or just wait for the weekend? Or log into the one or two TOTALLY FULL public German ultra PVP maniac-kid servers with non-stop daylight ? So that was a Bind. OK? * It would be good to have day and night on official servers (for Xbox that's all of you, right now) .. BUT if the clock was set to - say - an 17 hour clock cycle or a 9 hour clock cycle (instead of 24) , then if you logged in at the same real-time every day, it would be a DIFFERENT time in DayZ, every day of the week.. So if you hated night and you logged in at nightfall, you could maybe go play on some other server? The only problem WAS (and still is, on PC), that the Server Providers were setting up the instances, and THEY just plugged the official (public) instances into the real-time server clock, because no one told them to do otherwise and they wouldn't lift a finger to do it anyway. So this altered cycle has to be built into the SA binaries by BI - e.g. at startup the game picks a random hour and then run a 17 hour cycle from that. (just an example) And server owners can override that if they want to (at least on PC, maybe one day on Xbox) The SP technicians (if they even got any) sure as sheet wont help setting times-of-day on servers. xxP
