OK, ''scuse me, point taken .. But still - Gews - is the expert who can tell it like it is.

TOTALLY the same discussion going on in two Xbox threads.. (the other thread could do with cleaning up too maybe, before merging). Both are on exactly the same topic. Both started in the same 24h. But the other thread began first & has some more interesting ideas, not mentioned here.

A.308 cartridge is the civilian version of the NATO standard 7.62×51mm cartridge - but many civilian (.308) loads deliver more energy than the standard NATO military load. - Given the dimensions for a 7.62 (Russian) and a 7.62 (NATO) - neither had "larger bullets" .. and "larger bullets" (meaning "different weight") may not (at all) give greater penetration, even if both are similar FMJ design, depending on the load -To over-simplify, the x54mm cartridge is just 3mm longer than the x51mm cartridge, the bullets are the same diameter. - Gews can give you the breakdown exactly for penetration under different conditions, if he wants. He is the One who Knows.

No prob - nice story ! << I am quite a ruthless killer, and it is why I remain the best player in DayZ >> but the dude started a thread YESTERDAY about <<how to be the pro lead player in dayz>> and another the day before that. Now he's forgotten again and started a new one, instead of collecting together all his great advice and reader comments in his own REAL thread. So there seems no point in joining this thread, by tomorrow he'll have forgotten it and started another one AGAIN. This is a pity for Survivor1431 who could do himself a favor. He could give advice, tell stories, and gain some followers & and start some discussion - if he stuck with just ONE thread about how he plays like a pro. = IMO =

Yo! Survivor, you've forgotten you started the same thread yesterday .. add your new tips on there :

The SPs have NEVER taken any interest and never interfered AT ALL with what happens inside any of the game instances they hire out online. It is not in their remit to police any single game instance, they run thousands of instances of hundreds of different games worldwide 24/7. They do not have the manpower, and they NEVER do it, they never have, they are totally NOT INTERESTED. Probably they comply with CIA requests if they receive them - that's all. BI cannot interfere with game instances hired by SPs to private individuals, that is a contract between a private individual and the SP run on a third part server hired by the SP. It has nothing to do with BI. Also, of course, BI does not have the remit or the manpower or the right to police thousands of DayZ instances worldwide 24/7. Via Battleye and Steam they can take action against hackers, but not against in-game actions. Can you QUOTE and put links to your information source please ? If you have any ?

Right. The server vanilla software is set to a 24hour cycle. As soon as a DayZ instance is loaded into a server it automatically takes it's time clock from THAT server (which is set to local time of course). That's all. It's that simple. And I guess it's that dumb, too. The EASY private owner solution is to give the server owner a +/- control, so they can (for instance) set back the game clock to "Server time minus 5h" . Then it will get dark 5 hours later than 'realtime' on that Dayz. If they set it to minus 10, that Dayz will have night in the middle of the 'real local day' and dawn will come up towards evening as most players begin to log on. A solution for public servers is a little more difficult.. because BI or the SPs can't spare the manpower (or have other difficulty) to set a local time offset by hand for each DayZ instance worldwide, whenever it is designated and starts up as an official public instance. I don't think SPs even inform BI which instances ARE official. So randomize the time offset automatically when each DayZ instance is set up.. make it 6 hour earlier or 6 hours later than server local time .. then everyone should be able to find a (fairly) local public server that is either day or nigh, as they prefer, whatever real time of day they play. If that instance happens to be private, the owner can use their +/- to set time as they like. - this is just my idea of a quick fix across the board for all public servers that could be implemented in only a few lines of script. - Caveat : Some thought should go into dealing with weekends differently , when many players might log in from "local" morning to "'local 4 a.m."

No, but it is like farting every time your opponent tries to concentrate

Zones How about - if you log out inside 300m of a military spawn point (a mil base or airport) - then you have a 90 second logout, AND when you log in again you are given a random login just like a new spawn. You keep all your gear, no prob, but you arrive at random on the map, because you logged out in a mil loot Zone.. 1 ) this will slow down hoppers a lot. If they want to hop, they will have to hop outside the Zone.. run into the Zone, loot and run back OUT of the Zone to hop again. This leaves them in play - like normal players - moving into a dangerous area.. They cant hop repeatedly inside one building or tent anymore .. 2 ) Anyone inside the mil Zone will have a STRONG incentive to fight or run if a firefight takes place - they can't ghost and it is highly dangerous to log out with a 90 second timer, and this encourages them to play realistically under stress. If they are cornered in a building, they have the choice of fight, surrender, or make a break for it.. combat logging out is a lot less safe with a 90 second wait during a firefight, and anyway, doing that will leave them randomly somewhere on the map next time they log in. 3 ) No one who logs out in the ZONE by mistake, or because of a bad connection, or because they have a home emergency, can really complain at all - because all that happens to them is they have a random spawn point when they log back in. hm ??

Berezino is a tacky town to wander around unarmed. You're better off in Cherno for instance, if you have a good knowledge of the streets. Be very proficient at sneak, hide, run, dodge. Know back entries and exits, hidden corners, sheds, routes, hiding places, dead ends. Going through a big town, sly and alert and unarmed, can be done, even as a way of life. It's an interesting way to play. But survival is moot if you have a firearm or not, in any place where there are very likely to be other players. There it is. Live by your wits.

How To Escape Psychological Suffering While Playing DayZ
pilgrim* replied to Survivor1431's topic in New Player Discussion
Well - DayZ is a virtual reality game.. in the sense that it is not Tetris.. You invest time in a 'tune that looks like a human, you know that the avatar << IS YOU>>.. You move through an environment. It is YOU that moves through this environment, you do not BELIEVE you are only manipulating pixels on a screen.. that would be pointless. So you are playing the part of a human being moving through an environment. OK, so a part of the game structure is to try to convince you that "something real is going on", and you believe that as much as young children believe "something real is going on" when they play with dolls.. THEN any/all aspects of your personality are involved in this constructed/virtual/imagined/aided reality. This means you DO NOT "have" to find an AK and shoot someone to "Win".. You can - and to some extent you MUST (because you are human) play DayZ in order to avoid stress and suffering.. This may be a different way of stating the SAME obvious role play objectives of a semi-mil virtual survival & zombies game, BUT you are in an open world - and you CAN do what the hell you like.. If you "imagine" that you can kill another person with a military rifle, you can also "imagine" that you can quietly eat your can of beans and watch the sunset. There is no difference - if there is any difference you have brought it into the game with you, and it is in your head, not predicated in the game. It always surprises me that people who have entered into this virtual "play" often limit themselves to COLLECTING LOOT, as though a rule book says this is how to win merit points and "win the game". But that rule book is in their head when they enter the game, they invented it. It's interesting (to me) when folk have different rule books.. this is one of the great advantages of playing online and encountering many real individuals in their avatar form. Dumb example : You remember "the Church of Jesus with No Pants" groups who used to wander around DayZ and hold meetings ? - I was not a fan but I did not object to them. It demonstrates there are wider possibilities in an ego-centered first-person virtual game. There is more than "the obvious". No one looks much at the graphics in DayZ except (mainly) to complain about them. The graphics are no more nor less "real" than a painting in a gallery, except that "you" exist inside the artwork and move through it.. or so you believe (else you wouldn't be wasting your time playing, dude). So it's legal to appreciate the environment as a representation of the semi-reality you have chosen to enter. and it's legal to use any technique available in the real world to aid you to navigate through this life you have chosen in the "spirit world". It has dangers and beauties otherwise you would not be there. So whatever you do in DayZ to some extent reveals your own nature.. to others AND to yourself.. AND this includes trolling.. So to me this is a fun thread, maybe some (thoughtful) new players will find it interesting. In HARD FACT they are sitting in front of a flat screen covered with pixels that create an illusion. They enter the illusion. This is a good place to start. Be cautious of what you "see". Examine what you "believe". Enter the spirit world. In the full expectation of death you will remain calm. This is called "enlightenment". -
How To Escape Psychological Suffering While Playing DayZ

Get up on a high headland with a view over a major city and watch the sunrise or sunset on the terrain and the ocean. Take it easy. Sit down, pass half an hour or so.. Worth doing.. can be really superb. You are well fed, comfortably equipped, you are a survivor - so what's the hindrance? .. appreciate this life. -
A short time after the warning your actions wont be saved anymore, then the server will go offline until it restarts. You get the connection lost message and you have to log back in.. .. so when you log back in you will find that the last few things you did.. maybe 30 seconds or so, are not recorded and you will be set back 30 seconds in time.. if you just changed guns, or ate a can, or left something on the ground, or ran through a town - when you log back in you find you are back at the start of doing that stuff .. If you're go on driving a car until you lose the connection, when you log back in you may be standing on the road and the car could be half a mile back down the road (?) go find it? - this can be a pisser if you have just found a pristine carry vest and you are sorting all your stuff into it and have gear in clothes on the ground when you get the "No Signal" message... when you log back in, whatever was on the ground is gone, and you are not wearing the new vest.. and whatever you transferred may or may not be in your pack anymore... time jumped backwards So either log out when you get the warning or take the risk and play till you lose the signal and have to log back in.. either way your last actions will be like they never happened < this is when everything is working the way it should > I guess folk right now will say - When you see the server restart message take MAX 10 seconds to hide in a bush and Log Out. If you're in a battle with zombies then run like F out of there as far as you can and hope there's none close when you log back in. It takes a minute or so for a server to restart, before you can log in again.

How To Escape Psychological Suffering While Playing DayZ

I think Survivor1431 means - stop misunderstanding life if it is causing you psychological suffering -
lol - Exactly! - well, last Monday they were looking for a project leader (I think I recall ?) .. and today they are not (I guess they got one?) .. so ask around, there must now be someone who is putting the game-frame on the drawing board. So if you cant live without MTs push for them. Seems to me like this will be a QTP game [Quick To Play] so if/when it shows up on Xbox, maybe you can buy your loadout before you log in? and frankly - a fast QTP version of DayZ with all that "distance" & "grind" & "boredom" taken out? = small play area & bases & PvP - What else would it be targeting except Xbox ? << The next step: the Survivor GameZ, one of the original Battle Royale mods that helped kick-start the live streaming craze way before DayZ Standalone or PUBG were a thing.>> [BI quote] ask Yoda

and p.s. yes of course I'm unhappy with the state of DayZ right now - aren't you? - isn't everybody? Over a few years Ive seen that it is NOT a mass popularity game, it is not INTENDED to be - and however well (or badly) different iterations have worked, there are ALWAYS players who don't get it, who cant stand it, who rail and spit, and drop out. "Why isnt their an autorun" .. etc etc.... y'know?.. the players with a short attention span who want quick kicks every 5 mins. Even when DayZ is on form, this is the WRONG game for them.

I was replying to a post that states : << What developers seem to not understand with console players is that we are very picky and demanding. A pc player can play a broken and ugly mess for 2 years while the console community will rage like no one else. We are used to optimized (well, not Always) and triple a games from very renowned studios but now we get lazy, sloppy and ignorant developers releasing half finished games.>> This is tripe and balderdash and brain rot. I have PC and Xbox and know the strengths and weaknesses of BOTH.. and I KNOW what Xbox is designed for and what market it targets and what games sell well, and why .. OK dude? .. So what's up with the constant chin-drool hate coming from this Thread attacking PC players? << PC players can play a broken and ugly mess for 2 years but Console players are picky? >> C R A P - try to act like adults "Xbox players" OK ? You'll get replies back at the same level as your comments. Make intelligent comments. Then you won't have to be afraid someone calls you "game slut" - whatever the hell that is. I'm guessing it's not polite but frankly I don't know. It's not a a term I use. Enjoy

You could hire your own server, fall off a roof, and be banned from your own server for life. Then how long do you go on paying the rental?
