..hmm.. In a Privately Owned Company the executive with final say is the Boss who owns the company - All other company staff are hired to do what the Boss wants them to do. They are not hired by the Owner for any reason except to ensure the function & continuation of the Company. Private Companies exist to make a profit or at least to break even after taxes and expenses. I don't think you can call this system the owners "meddling" with the workers - unless you want to challenge the basic, very standard, structure of Western Capitalist Democracy. But if you do - that's fine by me.

Information you probably need to know, but had no idea.

Persistence in single player or home server?
pilgrim* replied to BCBasher's topic in General Discussion
seem to be a "new generation" of players who use the forum to Tweet and don't actually READ to find out that they are opening the 7th thread of the month on the same subject. (scuse me saying so) Maybe they'll mellow down into a community and - exchange - ideas, or maybe they're Internet 2 victims ... << Search Function - I dont give no sheeeet about no foookin search function >> If a topic ain't IN YOUR FACE first page when you log on, nobody notices it's there any more. Let's see how it goes from here on. I LIKE finding threads & opinions and ideas and looking BACK to check stuff, but I'm senile and Ive been doing this since ARPANET. -

Microsoft Xbox officially said K&M is coming : link above - they list DayZ as one of the included games for K&M. BI have indicated (on this blog somewhere.. if you look for it).. that separate servers will be used for for K&M Xbox and Controller Xbox I GUESS - the reason for this is the totally different control structure for the two input devices - and also the impossibility of equalizing the two, to give players on a single server the same fair chance in any circumstance... So K&M will show up on Xbox DayZ, but only on servers for Xbox K&M. that's how I understand it. I guess it's a pity (from the PC POV) that PC players and Xbox players can't ALL meet up on one server, just to prove once and for all that us PC dudes and dudesses are totally in every way set up with a better rig AND ALSO by natural selection smarter, eviler, faster, more intelligent and 900% deadlier. So - for your own good - unfortunately the planned technology won't ever let you come and Get Some. I'm not being PC elitist .. it's just Darwinian selection, drippin red in tooth and clawZ.. - ain't MY fault. xp

It tells me you said in December << I am tired of fighting this battle >> your Constant Theme is : How stupid the devs are and what a big mistake they made. Then you follow on with 30+ posts saying the exact same thing, for exactly the same reason, regular as clockwork. It's ALL you EVER do = Shit on the devs. The one same message again and again. (apart from the ads for your clan). - Aren't you TIRED of fighting this battle ? Hey Gordon, we GOT the message, they got the message, everyone got the message - It's a very simple message and you SAID it THIRTY FIVE times. Now do you expect the devs all to come over and commit Ritual Suicide in front of your door? xxp

how many days is 1.5 weeks ? = 10.5 (are we counting weekends?) I guess when there's something to update, they WILL update it ? No point doing an update every week and and saying: - "hey, this week we've we've reduced morning mist (who wants a server reset?)." - "hey, what we've done this week unless you're a programmer, don't even ask. It won't interest you, it takes hours to explain, you won't read it and if you do you won't understand it." - "hey, this week we've we've added a new plank texture " - "hey, this week we're working on a whole bunch of complex stuff like we just told you last week"

To me the perfect balance with respect to the zombie loot : 1 ) randomize loot carried by zombies so plenty don't have any at all (..or e.g. zombies never carry food.. or occasionally carry raw meat because they only eat players ) 2 ) Introduce zombie variation (like the old mil pilot zombies from wayback) so one zombie in 5 is a mean MoFo who fights hard, doesn't care if you hack their arm off, takes 3 bullets to the chest and keeps coming, and will tear the door down if you try to hide in a house. ??

DayZ has BattleEye too - the 1,500,000 bans on PUBG are ONLY BattleEye cheat bans. The same anti-cheating measures ARE employed on DayZ. I have no idea what other bad stuff happens on PUBG that cheaters get away with. for frame drops and hit registration - there are threads on those exact performance topics. This thread is a rant about making DayZ more popular by making it simpler. The theme - for what it's worth - is that most Xbox players can't stand complexity, so they don't like DayZ. The thread starter says : Make the game dumber, you will get more Xbox players.

It would mean that for a server restart, the entire whole game database of every single loot item on the map would have to be backed up and then restored competely - not just player items etc... I can't see any advantage to this. Perhaps someone has a rational explanation of why Xbox servers would do that? What is the advantage, either to the player or to the game persistence software? Is this part of solving "the persistence problem" ? p.s. If all loot items are backed up and restored, then all zombies in their current locations at reset should be backed up and restored too ? Might as well be? Easier to do it than to specially exclude them from "total persistence" I think the only solution is - ask ImpulZ drop him a mail p.s. there is a discussion on PC that might be related :
-
Yes it would be interesting to know if an Xbox server relocates all loot items as they were before each restart. And also the REASON for it. I don't know the software answer to this and I have NEVER heard or experienced that all Xbox spawned loot is persistent on restart. Man Parts 241 claims it is, but I think he's being offhand. From my experience with PC I cant see any reason for implementing such a heavy functional change, for extremely minimal & doubtful player benefit. For best factual knowledge of Xbox restart loot mechanics - ask ImpulZ Modders & PC server owners doing backups will tell you how it works on PC.
-
Even in a IRL live war zone you will not find a functional assault rifle in "10 mins", and definitely not in an evacuated camp. .. Military folk tend NOT to abandon weapons frequently; for some reason.. They'd rather dump a tin of food or a beret than their assault rifle .. its a thing with them. Also, when surrounded and attacked by zombies they seem to hate leaving unused ammo lying around.. I cant imagine why? Maybe they want to hang on to their guns even more than you do?
-
?? so when EVER an Xbox server restarts it automatically remembers where every single individual item of spawn - type, item, and location - is at shutdown, across the whole map ?? Please explain your theory. On PC this has never been the case.

It's not flue - it's a virus with initial flue-like symptoms. Unique but perhaps similar to Ebola.

this is the best restaurant in town - 100,000,000 flies can't be wrong -
really ? - Prison island was a (later) addition to the game as a kind of specialized PvP location.. On PC it was the good East Coast choice for folk who wanted PvP. Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dayz+prison+island

Nice !! BUT - Have to say: duping on Xbox REALLY IS a gameplay disaster. - I was going to say " IS BECOMING SERIOUS" - but it has gone past that point - I guess by now TOTALLY ALL Xbox players know how to dupe. This STRONGLY tends to make the game meaningless for those who do AND for those who don't. IMO
