How to do you attach a local image to post
pilgrim* replied to No One With That Name's topic in General Discussion
Upload a static image to imgur.com Then when your image is loaded there, right click ON the image and copy THAT image location ( it has an extra "-i-" in it ) You can insert that into your post it's the easiest way of getting your own images onto the forum IMO -
<< And so, my friend and I bought DayZ, we paid 1000 rubles. After installing the game, we started playing but didn’t find each other on the map! The game was terrible and we didn’t find each other! I want the money returned ! This game is terrible ! >>

It's one of the things that made/makes DayZ unique - look at the DayZ inheritance = REALISTIC BALLISTICS.. The bullet trajectory is plotted in-game as if it comes out of the barrel of the gun - from the cartridge in the breech. This was a proud boast of ArmA 2 and of the DayZ Mod and was passed on to DayZ SA. - it is ONE thing that made DayZ (and in fact BI's development attitude) different from ALL other games involving FPS. It was so vaunted, that on this Forum several folk argued to include sniper computers as an in-game item. i.e; the militarily pocket hardware that takes into account the rotation of the earth when it is calculating your target aimpoint, as well as all the weapon, cartridge & wind and air-density & moisture parameters (ya know?) total ballistics - There were & are players who took realistic weapon & ammo performance very seriously. DayZ is set up so that realism is completely achievable for weapons performance. That function is deliberately built in to the engine. So why not use it to it's max, accurately imitating real world weapons and cartridges? = as -Gews- points out. Like, it ain't "point and click"

Wolf and Zeds in Building while doors are closed
pilgrim* replied to No One With That Name's topic in General Discussion
Leaving aside doors .. On servers with my local area (usual) ping at 30 to 55 .. and even when I'm on on servers with a ping up to 300+ I PERSONALLY on PC (not speaking for other players or other rigs ) have found it totally cool to get in a house, close the door, and have wolves around the house, zombies skirting round the house and ranting and howling (they know I'm in there) .. and PERSONALLY - after one or two EARLIER experiences - I have found that I can EXPECT to be OK as long as I stay arm's length away from walls windows and doors.. kind of nearer the middle of the rooms, not in line with a door, or upstairs, ya know? there's no point leaning against a wall while a Z is on the other side. either nothing happens or at worst you get an unexpected total headshot. So doing that is NOT a plus. I spend time with wolves, and play games with them. Ive never seen a wolf come through a wall. BUT if they are in a house or barn WITH you their movement can be pretty tricky. Damn those wolves The way they leap around when you're in a closed space with them is just downright HAIR RAISING.. man, I fought a pack of them with a spade and a shotgun in a big barn, behind the hay bales, at night. LOL .. half fast fighting half fast tearing my own clothes up for bandages when I ran out & fast trying to reload.. wow those wolves just run and SNARL an LEAP around something STRANGE !! it's almost nearly too exciting (kind of like, terror, right?) * * * Yeah, Zs can spawn in houses right now, I've heard of that - but hell, so there's a Z in the house, is that such a game breaker? (makes the game more interesting?) .. and hell, there's a Z on the roof = so what? LOL. Just make sure he don't DROP on you. Crazy Zeds. Doors : In my experience, once you are sure the door is shut - it's been shut for a second or three - then zombs MOST LIKELY wont come through it or try to hit through it, unless you stand directly behind the door.. when you stand near there the Z pathing shows a straight line from THEM to YOU - they will try to come at you that way - Remember that a doorway shows up firstly as a direct rout any Z CAN TAKE.. then only a secondary check tells the AI that the zomb can NOT go that way ATM. Doors are dynamic objects and not part of the scenery.. they are not walls or trees or big rocks: those things are always present - doors are sometimes there / sometimes not, as far as path is concerned. Doors are better than they used to be .. they got improved to be "about" ok in 0.6 xx but I don't know that they've got better since then, on PC. (this is IMO, natch) if you look back in the threads you can find the technical stuff discussing this. Doors were a PC issue for a while. p.s. If you log out in a closed room or shed, just DON'T expect it to be closed when you log back in. There's no special reason it should be. Go up in the trees a way, log out behind a bush. that's better and safer for about 100 reasons. IMO -
Wolf and Zeds in Building while doors are closed
pilgrim* replied to No One With That Name's topic in General Discussion
Fair point. * Doors are a special case because of the way their open/shut status is registered. * There were problems of zombies spawning inside buildings, on roofs, etc.. I haven't seen that (very) recently. * Shooting Zs - there are whole threads about that BUT I've never myself seen a wolf definitely run through a solid object, or go through a house, (in at one side and out at the other?) - I guess if you see it again, put in a bug report. Maybe other folk have seen this or reported it. -
they're working on it

Wolf and Zeds in Building while doors are closed
pilgrim* replied to No One With That Name's topic in General Discussion
terrifying ! There have been problems with doors in the past - dont trust them with your life - best thing to do right now is be aware of it.. Like, take it to mean the Z smashes an arm through the door and hits you.. keep out of reach, even if they are on the other side of something. - Ive been punched and had my leg broken indoors upstairs on the first floor by a zomb downstairs outside the house. It's maybe good - it adds some extra paranoia to the game. - Never feel safe. 🙂 p.s. How do you know they go through something that's not there ? - wow! Can you see them do it ?? 🙂 Getting inside a house out of the way of wolves and having the wolves and the zombs fighting outside around the village is kind of fun.. also, stand well away from the door while you're bandaging .. -
Players who have a character on a server tend to continue in THAT character, it's the obvious and easy thing to do when you log in, go to the skin you already have Obviously If that skin is locked into one server you will tend to continue on that one server Obviously Everyone who happens to start on that one server will tend to do the same, and continue with the character they built - locked on that one server Obviously Everybody does this - even on public servers, players tend to come back to their habitual server .. there are a couple of servers with good ping or good action - they hang out there often BUT - they DO HAVE a choice. They don't HAVE to DIE to go somewhere else. Hey - your private locked server, whichever you choose, might be a total PARADISE for DayZ players . why not - I can believe that, sure.. A Really Really GREAT Place. .. Just for ME it is NOT a Paradise if I myself, in MY SKIN with my hat on my head, can't walk OUT of it when I want to. This is the way I am.. Now : Are you saying that YOU judge me unsuitable to play DayZ ?? Should I be STOPPED? Am I a danger to DayZ? You have a style of play, I guess. have NO problem with your style of play. Nothing is - "EXCLUSIVE" - So, log in to play the game, either on private or public hives, or play 1pp or 3pp, or play with a controller or a keyboard, or play vanilla or Mod .. sooner or later there will be servers for EACH of these possibilities for everyone I HOPE . The only "exclusive" that I notice - meaning to EXCLUDE - is when one kind of honest player starts to tell the other kind of honest player that they are wrong, evil, possessed by Satan, aliens, in the terrible grip of extraterrestrials, twisted by propaganda, , infested by mind worms, poisoned by wrong-thought, and have to be burned at the stake, or STOPPED in SOME way AT ALL COSTS, even if it means taking their servers and their freedom away from them. Everyone knows hopping is an exploit - But going to a server where locals speak Romanian is NOT AN EXPLOIT I don't understand why you want to take away my right to do that? Do you have freedom of movement where you come from? xxP

there are threads talking about this - you should all get together and hear each other

Nope - not stupid : Check the server listing There are SOME <<Community Servers>> which are often (but not always) "private shard" servers & these are "locked servers" - if you spawn there your tune lives and dies there.. if you choose another server to play, you will be a fresh spawn when you arrive. Some of these are modded. AND There are SOME <<Official Servers>> which are "public hive" servers & are open servers, not "locked" - on PC called <<Official Servers>> If you spawn there, and gain equipment, illness - anything you can carry on your tune.. when you spawn on another "public hive" server your tune will spawn on the new server in the same location you logged out on the old server, still alive, with all the same stuff you brought with you from the other server. Same as on Xbox right now.

No it's not

Are we going round in circles again? - I play ONE character until that character dies - that's my CHOICE - on open servers there are THOUSANDS of players I can meet with my ONE tune. I have ZERO interest in having to keep a checklist of a dozen or more characters on a dozen or more different locked servers, and remembering where those different characters are (all me?) , or what they are doing, how they are equipped, or what's going on on THAT server.. Where's the IMMERSION in having 10 characters? .. that seems pretty DUMB and BORING to me, as if I'm AFRAID to play ONLY ONE character to the DEATH - a character I put effort and skill and MYSELF and experience into - all the way across 100 servers against anything and anyone I meet. WHY is this SO BLOODY DIFFICULT to understand ? I have NO BEEF with private server players.. like I have NO beef with 1pp or 3pp - DayZ lets ME.. AND them .. go their own way, choose their own path. You somehow seem to be telling me I'm the WRONG religion or wrong sex or wrong color ? No, I aint. All blood's the same color, dude - my blood is solo and open spaces and strange places.. That's all. I think freedom to CHOOSE between closed "locked" servers and open public servers is A GOOD THING. Maybe a NECESSARY thing. I hope players get this CHOICE on Xbox. It WORKS on PC. - 100% private locked servers on PC would be a total disaster. ASK AROUND <good grief> You ImageContrl have read the PC threads, you have been around since the start. You KNOW some folk like their closed private clans, some folk like and NEED their right to MOVE in their own SKIN to different servers. That's a good balance to suite different players. If you expect your tune will only last a couple of hours (one play session) then it makes NO difference WHICH locked server you log on. BUT if your tune is something you VALUE and IDENTIFY with then you may find that always being on ONE server limits you to a few players who are regularly on that ONE server. If by cunning and skill and luck you are in the same skin for QUITE a WHILE you might easily want to move away from the half dozen same-same players who are doing the same cr@p on the same server every night. But you cant if you're locked in. Depends how much you identify with your tune, doesn't it ? & Depends how independent you are ? Some players LIKE that a lot, to always hang with the mainly-same known players - but I personally DO NOT GET A BIG KICK OUT OF LOCKED SERVERS AND the SAME FEW FOLK - I find that too SMALL when there's so much else outside (personal taste, OK?) I and my tune LIKE my tune's FREEDOM to ROAM and meet players who are totally Unknown and even speak different languages and have REALLY different play-styles.. Try it box players, when the Xbox game matures a little, you'd be amazed. I had a conversation with a Japanese lady who was in her office on the seventh floor in Osaka and I was in a stone shack in the French Mountains. We sat on a beach on SOME server somewhere and we talked about who we really were. That was cool. - Then I moved on. Week later I was fighting in Moscow. (hard to understand, hu?) If you want to PvP and expect to die in 10mins, that's fine by me, it doesn't matter if the server is LOCKED if you're not aiming to survive, OR if you want to play safe and expected = Enjoy. You want to try to survive through as many different situations and different players, clans, groups, attitudes and etc etc etc.. then YOU wearing your one SINGLE tune have 100 servers to chose from every night and you move between them when you finally get the urge to. Good server I used to drop in a lot, in the early days in Oman.. they were all helicopter freaks and we traded weapons and medicines and jokes, good people, sometimes tricky (kind of Tatooine, ya know?) .. and you can try to EXPLORE, check them out, MEET radically new and different players.. WHY limit yourself to one server and then either dump your tune or top yourself (never go back or just leave the character forgotten) just so you can newspawn in the next server and see if there are different and interesting players there ?? Sounds like you don't have much identification with your game-skin in THAT locked DayZ.. Identification gives you paranoia and victory & care and skills and serious drama and satisfaction and a death you REMEMBER.. THAT'S worth playing IMO (ONLY IMO - are you getting this?) So THAT IS THE POINT, in answer to your question "what is the point?" Which I explained TWICE before you asked it, guess you noticed? Now I've said it three times. AND this = CHOICE = of play-styles is WHY we have private shard (locked) servers AND public (open) servers on PC. Did I say that before? - well DANG, SHOOT ME DEAD ! - I did say that before.. twice now. And this is the THIRD time. Can you folk even read ? If you can read you GOT THE POINT now ? IMO = Don't limit yourselves. xxP - thanx for your time.
-
I totally got that totally and I am totally against it totally for the reasons I totally gave. - are you... MAYBE (??) suggesting that each time you log in to a locked server you are given a RANDOM locked server so that you DON'T meet the same people? .. the same people who always log in to ONE SAME locked server to play their LOCKED character on that server? Because if anyone has worked on a character on ONE server, they will sure as hell go back there to continue with that character - and so will all the other folk who have a character on that server. And sure as hell you will get to know them one way or another..just on that one server. And this already happens on PC with private shard servers - OK? - PC players know exactly how this works out. It's not a new experimental suggestion for PC. Private (locked) servers AND public servers have been around for YEARS on PC. The different game styles that come from them is well known. Ask any PC player. Private locked servers (your suggestion for Xbox) : On PC some folk love it & some folk don't - Personally I don't (er.. see my last post where I TOTALLY explain why.) I like to have ONE character and IRL WORLDWIDE planetary freedom to meet and face and interact with a Worldwide Community of DayZ players, just wearing my ONE skin, ME, one Tune - In THAT skin I live until I die. And DayZ can take me anywhere across the world where I CAN live or I die. = Real LOT of people to meet, dude, on the planet. Different habits, languages, attitudes, clans, psychos, solos, backwoods-folk, city folk, sheriffs, robbers, hoppers, sick, farmers, snipers, killers, hunters, friends, cannibals.. hey - I've played with a sheet of useful DayZ phrases in Russian by the keyboard .. know what I mean? That was still ME wearing the same Tune still trying to survive. OK - Each to their own - on PC there is the free choice of "private (locked) servers" or "open public servers" . That would be great for Xbox too IMO. But = CHOICE = is the answer. As I said earlier : Hopping and duping will be fixed. A software solution will be implemented. Afterwards, when hopping and duping are fixed, there will still be folk who want locked servers and like the play-styles they can develop in a locked environment , and there will still be folk who want freedom and taking their Tune off far anywhere into the total unknown..

DayZ is Beanz or Death. That's what it is.

One post saying "Nice" then fifteen one line posts saying" nothing is playable". Dude, you could put those ALL in ONE post ..; wow, imagine!

Sharing. NOT criticising you research, WY - except the Wikipedia vid, natch. [ I go to Wikipedia for baseline info and the links, it provides an excellent place to start on many topics. Like everything on the internet, never believe one source. You know how Wikipedia is structured and peer reviewed, I guess... [e.g. you, I or anyone could right now add a couple of slanders to any wikipedia page and they will be there until someone notices & challenges them.] Someone of your quality should be contributing, for the general benefit of free info, IMO - just saying. Most of the Wikipedia page on Bohemia Interactive - if not all of it - is written by Bohemia Interactive. The figure of 300+ employees was included in the body of the text but was removed along with some lines on company history in Dec 2018. The same staff figure remains quoted in the Company Info panel. I mentioned it around here a couple of months ago, but most folk are REALLY not interested in company dynamics. I have no idea if it is correct. I queried it (and the link given) a while ago on Wikipedia - as anyone can do. Wikipedia is as good as the people who contribute to it. - & standard company info is not filed on public domain in the Czech Republic (unlike UK, USA & others). * There is a recent vid linked somewhere in this Forum where a DayZ team leader explains in passing how he is allocated resources [i.e. programmers] for DayZ. He mentions the subject while really talking about another point (by mistake, almost .. call it a slip). The link is around to find: I wont link it here, because I don't think it is fair to pick on individuals and nail them for things they say about BI. They are not (in the main) spokespeople for BI and they are sharing their experience rather than making policy statements. BI gives them "an unusual amount of freedom". But it is interesting to read between the lines and pick up bits of info that can be put together into a clearer picture. I wouldn't blame the devs in any way for their work on DayZ. I would look at policy decisions and moves in the company over the last 2 years. Of course - the problem with being an "open" and easy going company where the employees can discuss freely - within limits - on projects and activity, is that you will very rarely get the decision maker themselves in front of the camera, or making written statements. = IMO =

" BI - Number of employees 346 (2018) " - mainly technical staff. Info updated Dec 2018. The owner of the means of production is able to claim the right to surplus value because the owner is legally protected by the ruling regime through property rights and the legally established distribution of shares which are by law only to be distributed to company owners and their board members. [ Margaret Thather's Economics 101 brochure ? ] -LOL- it's Marx, dude <good grief>. * OK, no sense of humor, no sense of camaraderie go = = = = yourself I said earlier in the thread, if you do - that's fine by me. xxp

Daytime servers are night when logged in....
pilgrim* replied to chili1496's topic in General Discussion
If you're playing at a time a lot of players will be online - like maybe 7pm or weekend for instance - servers that say "day" but have low player count WILL be night, or will be dawn/dusk as Guy Smiley says. As soon as it is not full daylight on the server, nearly every player moves out. Where there are medium or high pops, there will be daylight for sure. -
Be polite - don't ever diss anyone - just stay quiet and calm, kill them, cut them up and eat them. - problem solved -
-
If you found any fixes/tweaks/new adds that they didn't mentioned in the notes, write here.
pilgrim* replied to MarczXD320's topic in Xbox
oops! - there goes the thread .. -
You are the Admin, right? (make sure you are) . .. On Steam make sure you are set to download the standard game and not Experimental. If you ARE, then go find this file on your PC that is messing with you .".addons\plant2_tree.pbo" see where it is, check if it is readwrite, see what else is there.. Maybe quickest just to DELETE that file - that whole folder - THEN do "Verify game files" and the files you need will be auto-replaced by Verify. Turn off your local file AV while you are verifying and when you are playing. Anyone got a better suggestion?
-
I am 100% against this. You want to play on a locked server, always the same people doing the same thing? That's not DayZ. You want to have multiple different characters to play on multiple locked servers? That's not DayZ. There are plenty games that do this - go find one. DayZ is a WORLDWIDE game. Designed as - MEANT to be. If that makes you feel UNSAFE and INSECURE then you just don't have what it takes to be a survivor. Find a Battle Royal somewhere. > Hopping and duping will be fixed. A software solution will be implemented. It won't ever be fixed if you ISOLATIONISTS turn DayZ into little private clans of friends "playing" pretend PvP and sitting round the same SAFE campfire forever. NOTE - this is OFF Topic. So - Back on topic, OK ? @-Gews-is the ONE who can tell you about bullet impact and damage, in total detail.

(I'm actually looking for) Night official servers during the day?
pilgrim* replied to eno's topic in General Discussion
look at the next continent .. you get a ping of 300+ but if its day your side, it's night their side. e.g. In Europe after 17:00h -18:00h Central European Time , any official server with low pop will be night .- 1 reply
