In electro go to the sea and turn right, follow the coast about 5 km you get to cherno, before the town turn right (at the railway), the construction site is there before you go into town, a way back from the sea. But that coast from electro to cherno is not a good place to travel. I know people who've been that way and never came back. Or if maybe they came back they were crazy and drooled a lot and talked about strange things. They weren't the same afterwards. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus xx

  4. Persistant storage can't be hive based, it would make no sense - every time a player logged in to a server his tent(s) and stashes would appear too, and vanish when he logged out? Doesn't make sense. And that would be the same for vehicles? A point about persistant storage is - other players can find that stuff when you're not around. Or are you saying that every time you plant a tent, that tent would be persistant, in the same place, on every server in the game? With a million players? Has to be server based obviously.

I'm worried that the Devs are banking on 'optimization' to be able to fit zombies in the game - because optimization is the roof-space of the software, it means you already reached the limit of what you can run, and you try to get more in by 'optimizing'. But the Zeds are a MAIN feature of the game, not an extra. For example: Already there are a hell of a lot less trees than there were in the mod, I guess because 'instances' of trees clog up the server... so, making runtime 'space' for more lootable buildings => less trees. I think it's that simple. Server limit. I heard Bohemia mention 'bigger servers - or servers 'doubled up' as a possibility (but this means it's more expensive to hire space per game). Problematic (! hai !) More server power and put back a LOT of reasonably BAD zombs, to make players sweat, and because it's a zombie apoc. game. That's why you're trying to survive, right? Or go back to the old mod system of generating plenty of zombs only when a player is in the area. Plenty of Zombs - they can go up stairs, they can open doors (I don't care much if they clip or walk in the floor , I'm used to it), they can be dumb so long as they chase you, they eat you, break your bones, infect you (I hate that) 5 or 6 zeds is bad news. Ragged edges don't matter too much, as long as it works - was never a "glossy" game. Zombs have got to be the key to make or break - I don't see any other way. THEN making fire and all the other stuff IS required, and new stuff..ATM I don't know if there's really enough trees to hide a tent in. We have a 'Breakdown of Law and Order' game. [no I DONT trust anybody] But no Zombie Apocalypse game. And "optimization" is maybe a bit thin to deal with that. I hope the game works. I'd miss it. xx pilgrim
  6. Point is this, friends You are NOT paying Bohemia Interactive for server space - you are paying a Server Provider for server space. OK, you paid for it you can do what you like, you can run porno or you can play Pokemon.. completely YOUR choice.. that's between you and the people you hire from What you CANT do is play Pokemon connected to the DayZ Public Hive... YOU aren't paying for the Public Hive any more than anyone else.. Bohemia Interactive run that, it's part of the DayZ game. So you can't connect to the Public Hive unless you run the straight DayZ Game with all its software and its rules and regulations, the whole packet designed by BI. If you think you bought the Public Hive you are mistaken. OK you have server space - I got server space, thousands of people got server space, Microsoft has server space, all god's chillun got server space, Al Qaeda probably got server space WTF.. Do what you LIKE with your server space you PAID for it. But don't connect to the public hive, dude. If you connect to the public hive you're a public game, dude. Pretty soon I guess Bohemia will arrange the shards and open up the game for mods and private servers, maybe groups of private servers sharing a private hive. Interesting stuff. .. One reserved slot on would be nice, I agree. At the moment we are not there. Public Hive=Public Server .. you and I didn't pay Bohemia anything for our server space and you and I have NO right to run the DayZ Game "how I like" it's not 'my' game, it's not 'your' game, it belongs to BI. But sure - play Pirated Online Pokemon if you want, it's your server, spread the Word of the Lord or do Assassins Creed or sell Specialized Underwear Garments (I'd go for Pokemon, myself) But you cant connect to the Public Hive if you do any of that c[er - cool stuff.] OK? Easy to understand. Wait for Private Hives to show up, Play the Game, Report bugs and cheats because you're in a good place to do that,Don't KOS the Community. Stop messing with all these kids who want to PLAY, they want to KOS, they want to eat goats, kill Zombies, wear cool gear, drink disinfectant because that's the Game, bro. Public Hive. DayZ is not a Pay to Play game, If Bohemia wanted to be BAD (like plenty of others) they could say "Private server, no problem, you just pay us to use the Public Hive, and you can be as private as you like". So be happy with what you paid for. Don't sneer at the players. Earn some respect. You're an Admin, play right. If you don't like people on your server hunt them down and shoot them, don't kick. xx pilgrim
  7. Yes, the game is more at the speed of 'Saving Private Ryan' than the speed of 'Riddick' - its kinda clunky, slow, and horribly realistic. So you're never gonna be looking at your map and a player comes up behind you, and you see his shadow you whip round and throw your knife through his neck - I agree. But in real-world, if you do say, mountain climbing, or low temperature stuff, or sea diving (to name 3 'similar') then it's a base rule to never put yourself in a situation where you need quick reactions; You think ahead and decide before you move. If you need quick reactions you're already somewhere you really shouldn't be. Those activities are stressing, very tiring, and that's why people do them, I guess military combat is worse, (and for street gunfighting you got to be a crazy, right?) DayZ is kind of the same. There IS a BIG place in it for fast reactions for sure, but a lot of it is about awkwardness, slowness, difficulty.. A 16 year-old shooter meets me coming round a corner, I'm dead, usually., he's faster than me. but the same player cant get from Cherno to Berezino without a car? and I made a mistake already to go round that corner. This is just to say that clunky is maybe good, and not to be regretted - It gives you more stress. Like in the real world trying to get a mag in your gun while rounds are already going past your head. It takes a LONG time, you shouldn't BE there, it's a BAD feeling. Hehe. Love it (hate it) love it; This said - OP joe_mcentire is right: hope the Zeds do what they SHOULD, hope the servers can stand it. At pres. I'm playing for old times sake and to see how the new game feels as it comes up.. but we NEED the zeds to get the streetfighters to pay attention to surviving a little bit. I think they'll enjoy that in the long run. This is a Z Survival game (the best) right? xx pilgrim

  9. Hi Steak and Potatoes That IS odd, I got this message from the Steam DayZ Server List: And I got this message from the forum: << If you encounter an abusive admin or server do not post it here. We cannot do anything with these reports>>. I understand. But I'm NOT reporting a server. I want to make that clear. If they give me a Sheriff's Badge and pay me, I will police these Admins for Bohemia Interactive. But that's not my job at the moment. This image only shows PRIVATE servers on the public hive - they kick players. I haven't added a screenshot of the JOIN=KICK servers (- they kick players too) there is about the same number again, some have both PRIVATE and KICK in the Server title.. I like the "You not pay - you not play" server myself.. don't you like that? They say what they are right up front.. So this is the way DayZ is going ?? My HUD does not say: INCOMING -> 30,000,000 dollars My HUD just says: INCOMING -> You are on your own, Player xx pilgrim
  10. So why does Bohemia allow it? Hi, Max (constant) Planck and Boneboys, We have 40+ Admins who state in writing that they run private servers. Does Bohemia agree to this or does Bohemia put a stop to this? I did not write the contracts with the Server Providers any more than I decide on the game contents. I make suggestions about what I think would be good, Im just a player, Im NOT Bohemia Interactive. I notice that Bohemia Interactive is being skanked by 40+ Admins. The Server Providers know it and Bohemia know it. So why does Bohemia allow it? I just suggest that Bohemia DO something about it (and either way I won't ever mention it again). This is NOT something 40 Admins did to ME, so its not for me to compain to the GSPs about it. Im only trying to warn Bohemia that their rules are ignored, and players IN GENERAL don't like it. I personally don't have a complaint about any one Admin who has treated me unfairly. I think Bohemia might have a complaint about 1.4 million players being treated unfairly, in breach of contract, that's for Bohemia to decide But its not for ME to decide. I cant act on behalf of < Bohemia Interactive v Server Providers >. I'm not an employee of any of these. So for me this is the end of the subject - no more posts on it. Thanx for listening Max and Boneboys, we all agree this is a great game. If the game goes down the drain I've wasted E17, and it would be a sad day... but its not my job to chase down that public list of PRIVATE servers and JOIN=KICK.     This zombie game needs more....

    In the early mod the Zombs were great, because the Devs had problems with the zombies tracking... so they speeded up the zombs to about 3 times 'normal', and the zombs ran in zigzags all over the place, but following you FAST and closing in. Them being so fast was the only way to get them to catch you because the tracking was bad. It gave a wierd effect that definitely caused fear and worry and stress. It worked good and made the game different. At first they were only around houses, so if you tried to sneak up to get food, 3 or 4 would spot you, go nuts and come RUNNING. This speed and strange action made them frightning because they didnt act like "normal" zombs you'd imagine.. DayZ zombs suddenly jumped up and ran at you FAST. In open country you could outrun, but if you fired a rifle (for instance) from a roof top, suddenly you'd see zombs running in from all over the area, 5, 7, 10 and they'd group up on the ground below you and groan and howl when they heard you move, and run around in bursts. You wouldn't want to fire a gun inside a block of flats, unless you were sure you could fight your way out. So if you took one shot from a balcony with your Lee (yea!) then you had to immediately worry about your survival.. no time for a long gunfight with another player. And if you were a newspawn coming up the coast, you had to be REALLY careful not to get trapped in a house or shack. So for a newb the zombies were Frightning, and you definitely didn't want MORE than there were already, in THAT game. That same level of zombs now in SA would be very good. There can't be more, or much WORSE, than that or they'd just kill all the newspawns before they can find an axe. So as a new player, first thing that happened was you got killed 4 or 5 or 6 times in a row by Zombies, before you even found an axe or got to the damned supermarket, before you even met another player to shoot at you, or help you, and you shouted for help on sidechannel and ran a lot, or you hid and crawled, and if you used up your two bandages.. you just keep running. Maybe you'd make it this time. That was just to start the game.

See my post at GSP declined action for report of kickfarm server Tonight Feb 14, I count 39 servers with "PRIVATE" in the title - (try it, put the word 'private' in the server filter) Now put the word "kick" in your server filter - I read 46 servers that say "join=kick" in the server title Some say both - check it out, with other ways of saying the same thing, I count maybe 60 servers that ARE PRIVATE But they are all on the Public Hive These Admins are saying up front in public that they break the rules, they say it themselves in the server title. They kick you if you join the server. OK that's something Bohemia should take up with the Server Providers... I dont think its down to each player to register a complaint when the Admins say out openly in a written statement that they are breaking the rules. It's for Bohemia to square this up, are PRIVATE servers illegal or not? Are JOIN=KICK servers legal or not? To say - <don't wast blog space/our time discussing this, go complain yourselves to the GSP> - is wrong, this is not a special individual Admin abuse case - it's the contract between Bohemia and the Server Providers that is getting shafted here. Bohemia and the SP should sort it out (easy and quick for Bohemia to do, right?). And SAY what is the rule - can you put <<PRIVATE>> <<JOIN=KICK>> in your server title or not? Are you going to let that ride or not? This is not individual Admin-Player abuse. It's generic.. there are over 50 of these servers already. Are they right or wrong? Can ALL admins do this, so the whole Public Hive becomes PRIVATE? Please tell us. Thanx
  13. 46 - Put the word "kick" in your server filter. For me today, this gives a list of 46 servers saying << join=kick >> or very similar 39 - Put the word "private" in your server filter. I count 39 servers saying << Private >> in the tile 15 - there are also servers that say - quote: << test server, go away >> and << We have fun - You not! Don't join>> , << we kick your ass >> or <<Admins only>>, <<join=character wipe/BAN>> .. different ways of saying the same thing. 70 - I guess with overlap of server title words, this gives around 60-80 'PRIVATE' servers that ... ARE PRIVATE, you ARE kicked if you join. These are all Public Hive This is NOT a problem between the Player and the Server Provider - it is a problem between Bohemia Interactive and the Server Providers The server providers have agreed to terms of contract with Bohemia. I understand the deal includes provision of Public and Private servers, but NOT private servers on the public hive, and no private servers right now. Excuse me if Im wrong about this. I would like a spokesperson from Bohemia to say clearly if PRIVATE servers, using the Public Hive, are legal or illegal at the present. This is a request. If they are Illegal, can Bohemia please send a polite e-mail reminder to each of the server providers (there are five, yes? so its not a BIG job), to point out that "join=kick" and "private" CANNOT be used in server titles, so that Admins doing this can be sanctioned NOW. It is not up to the players alone, to chase them down, Bohemia has the right to make this clear if it WANTS to. Its really not a lot to ask, dudes xx pilgrim and hell - if Bohemia supports this admin abuse, I'll hire my own private server on the public hive and play ..all alone (gnagh!)

    2 Things that should be implemented ASAP

    I guess some server admins haven't realized that server time and the sun should match. I go on a server showing 13:25, and its night... (that's sad, Admin).. they maybe mean its 01:25 At sunrise the shadows point West At noon the shadows point North At sunset the shadows point East its not complicated. If you had an ingame analog watch you could use it as a compass for more accurate direction finding (I guess one will show up soon). But knowing server time, or at least server time when you log on, you can tell your direction from the sun. Even not knowing the time, you can orient pretty well just by estimation. You get to know the map bit by bit; remember landmarks; notice how far you go when you run for 10 minutes.. that kind of stuff works. If you're really lost go East to reach the coast. Anyone checked which way the clouds move in SA ?? hmm?

    Rain water collection

    You've never been in the NW - go look for water up there, friend. Collecting rainwater is a good idea, need only funnel, containers are already in-game - rain water is pure too, no chance of disease. I was in a rainstorm in the NW yesterday. I was located NW of the garages and the water tower.. ya know? (I guess ya don't)... Sooner or later snipers are going to work out there are only 2 water points in that WHOLE NW REGION. You heard it here first. And the lakes up NW you can see on the map are DRY, the Devs didn't put water in them.

Memorize the map, learn to navigate, go across country. OR get yourself an axe and run to the 'remote' NW corner of the map, see if there's any WATER in the lake up there. We might meet. xx pilgrim

    Broken leg with no morphine

    Crawl out in the street shouting "kill me kill me" somene might help. OR keep crawling till you find sticks and T-shirt (rags) to craft a splint, to heal your leg, easier to find than morphine. OR contact Trusted Medics of the Wasteland (find them on this DAYZ blog) and they may turn up to help. OR just keep crawling till you starve or the zombies get you, but it's much more likely another player wil waste you first... I dont know if there ARE any zombies. OR get on a roof and jump (you can still climb with a broken leg) OR just glitch out through a wall and drop, that's the easiest suicide. You can't press respawn with a broken leg ATM. What YOU really need is Keyboard Only Sidechannel - this is a need in the game, to contact people, talk before you get shot, call for help, .. all kinds of stuff. Sidechannel worked well in the mod, as long as people didnt voice-talk on it. Keyboard Only Sidechannel (KOS) will make a big difference, it lets you get to know people gradually, over a few days, you see the same guy on the same server.. after a while you type "hi".. then one day he asks for help, and you already 'know' each other, maybe its worth the risk.. you don't team, but next week he helps you if you need it.. At the moment you either teamspeak with your buddies, or you speak to a stranger face to face and 50/50 you get shot. So there's not a lot of stranger contact in the game unless you play "I'm running around in my underwear". Bring Keyboard Only Sidechannel to DAyZ StandAlone (KOS) !!! Keep crawling bro, if you DO survive you will remember it for years.

    Game Development Priorities

    Day .... ( Z ) without the Z its just ... another day since the MOD What happened to the ZOMBIES - the BAD mean ZOMBIES... They walked around, they chased you 5 at a time, they heard you talk, they climbed stairs... so many could come in 1 building that you couldn't get out over the BODIES, and they kept coming.. NWAF was TOUGH with NO other players on the server, they TRAP you they break your legs an' then 6 of them they EAT you, dude! Devs had to put a LIMIT in the MOD so that not more than 40 ZOMBIES would come for your ass if you were ALONE in an area so where are those ZOMBIES, did they all COMBAT LOG???? xx pilgrim

    I think this is more 'hunting' than 'combat'. It's a different skill, but I have no moral thought about either. But I think IMHO its a bad idea to run across open places, for sure. Maybe the guy had two bullets in him, or he knew he was caught with his pants down, and he decided it was time to be Zen? Off topic - Anyone know what happens in game if you log when you're unconscious? (like, unconscious where you are NOT going to revive, however long you wait _ and nobody gonna help you either) Does your body sit up for 30 secs because you are not dead when you leave the game, then vanish? Or does it go to 'dead player' in game as soon as you log out? pilgrim

    Yes G in fact I think you're right. Beanz to you, stranger. I checked a few coordinates of SA locations against the MOD map and they remain exactly the same, so the map has not got smaller as I feared. I thought maybe it was reduced in size to help the servers. Going around wilderness places I knew (very well) from the mod I had a STRONG impression there was less space. I was just going by the sun and the north star, and remembered locations, to see what had changed. So all this open ground, FIELDS and ROADS where there was wilderness FOREST in the mod, made the whole place seem a lot smaller. It will be difficult to hide a camp in the north now. Going across open fields and along tracks and roads is not the same as walking through forest. So I got the feeling I moved faster in SA and there was less space. Nowhere to really hide out. But you are right, the map checks out to be the same size as it was, its just that the northern wilderness got overrun by civilisation, I guess... And there are a lot less trees. I just have to get used to SA being a different game to the mod. thanx for putting me straight. xx pilgrim
