    Lethal Creatures

Nobody mentioned feral dogs. After a collapse of civilisation, you are bound to have feral dog packs in urban (and rural) areas. 4 or 5 feral dogs hanging out on a street corner, doing nothing, would be something any survivor would have to take seriously. They are fast, desperate, mean, riddled with disease, and attack in a pack. - just saying -
  3. It must be possible to clean the hive, to get rid of 'infinite ammo' mags ? (maybe this would be a large undertaking ?) Or a login check for those mags ? Or a check when a character is saved to the hive at logout ?

    Payday masks

people who join the game to kos like to have a symbol to wear, to show their attitude as an all-or-nothing outsider with no care. Hey, I'm not against kosers - just saying, its the "wear the badge" thing. Like marking a bloody handprint on your face, painting tigers or sculls on your fighter plane, etc.. a terror mask.. its just to show. The most intelligent kosers or dedicated snipers (same thing?) should wear a gasmask as this makes your face less visible.. some do.. but most don't, and this emphasises what I'm suggesting, don't it ? Anyone with a payday mask, I'd just shoot them, frankly. But maybe that's why they wear it. It's warpaint.
  5. those mod zombies were mean and bad I liked the way their pathing was terrible so they ran in zigzags behind you, because they ran fast, they were kinda ... frightning Also having stealth to try to get past zombies was great, this was an important game element. If you were crawling they didn't see you until they were close. I had many good times with that -either newspawn trying to get into a village house to eat, while zombies wandered by - or crawling to reach a helicopter crash, with 4 or 5 zombie pilots walking around the field, trying to see which way they were turning and which was coming close. Good stuff. The SA zombies will come up to expectations in time ... then everyone will regret it, heh !

Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness

yes we've had this discussion before. I think your proposal to only have water sources around urban centers is fascinating. I agree that it will make wilderness survival more difficult, but this is not my point. In the north of the map the terrain has already been created to include lakes, stream, standing water. It has been like this since the first days of the SA However these water locations have NO WATER in them You missed this when I pointed it out the first time. You are in favor of retaining wilderness (trees, forest) so we agree on the main point. There is not much wilderness left Most of it has no water sources, although they have been included in the terrain, they are still dry. All the urban areas have water sources why ? [edit: I must add - I absolutely agree with your original post here 100%]

Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness

You give advice, but you never tried it - right ? I can tell. Check the title of this thread, its about wanting to KEEP wilderness as part of the gameplay Saying - "it dont matter if there's no water its soon going to be urbanized" is kind of missing the point pillock but thanx for your input

Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness

if you look at the map I included - you see the three pumps close together in the West, just South of the red line ? Ok, those three pumps are in a village, before the village turned up there was 1 pump in the middle of a field, as you say. In the latest patch the village has vanished again, and we are back to one pump in the middle of the field. It is the right-hand pump of the three marked, it is at 018 033 Check it out. That's why I drew the red line where I did. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#5.017.029

Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness

there ARE NO ponds in the North West. There is no water, the lakes are empty. Last time I looked at the big NW lake - there was a dehydrated rabbit running around in the bottom of it. And the trees have gone from the north region, there is no need to cut them down, most of the trees have already been cleared by sharecroppers and property developers. It's all farmland with the roads of future industry and housing laid out ready for the builders and the carloads of tourist-bandits. Good country up there for a TANK BATTLE but no good for woodsmen and survivalists. The remaining woods are so thin you can see right through most of them from one side to the other. damn modernisation it's no wonder the population got sick and died

    Passive stats

I do understand your points. If you check back in the forums there has been a lot of discussion about this stuff. For me the DayZ game is this: - all players are the same, and there is all kinds of stuff to use, same for everybody, and you use your own wits as best you can. Secondly - DayZ has always been a "rough" game, and an "unfair" game.. suddenly you are dead and you dont even know why. I like that, it is a main part of the game. It's a bad mean game that is not polished around the edges and I hope it stays like that. Because everyone is the same with the same stuff and same opportunities and same dangers, and its down to what you do with it (and the game is going to kill you anyway) this makes a game where players can do completely different things, it's really open world, you can be a no-pants jesus freak, or you can fight a geared military player with your bare fists, or you can live in the forest, or you can play military police... no one is "better" or "worse" than anyone else, there can't be a winner - its always down to you what happens (and you're still going to die anyway). So nobody should get any points or game advantages for anything at all. Not even the slightest. If you find a water bottle you can carry water - that's the advantage you just won, nothing else. IMO. Thanks, good discussion. I'm not saying I'm right, this is just "how I like it".

    Multiple Hive servers Vs Sandbox

And of course the small group of lumberjacks DO NOT WANT to build the Great Pyramids. They never intended to build the great pyramids, quite the opposite - they DELIBERATELY devised a small server model for the game, with private admin of the small servers. So let's not belittle BI for their thought-out, planned, purposeful structuration of their gaming framework. If anyone wants a massive online single-server game, they should go see Sony Online Entertainment - there is a zombie game starting up over there. I'm surprised to see how conservative the gamer population seems to be (not you Chaingunfighter).. Designers and developers are trying to introduce new ideas and new ways of gaming, to avoid the old standard cliches.. and on the other side, many players seem to want only massive servers and LEVELS.. because that is what they are used to, and they have their habits of play and habits of thought. This is truely not a flame or rant - I am really confounded that there is such conservativism among gamers.. From the start the most interesting thing about DayZ was that it broke the mold.. a game that you cant win, and it has no levels, no "skills", and volunteer admins paying for their own servers, an "unfair" game. A real, unusual game (by the people for the people, ya know). This made it popular because it was NOT "the same". But in these forums there are so many posts from players who want to move BACK to the standard games. They want a nice safe MMORPG easy to understand and predictable, everything explained, not "dangerous" - as if there aren't enough of these already. I'd rather stick with DayZ .. ya know ?

Thanks for taking the trouble to read my post and answer in such detail. Speaking for myself I'm 100% NOT interested in grinding for skills - good gods ! DayZ is not a LEVELS game will never be a levels game, it has been stated that levels or skills will NOT be introduced, no one in their right mind wants it to be a levels game. And "grinding" is not in the DayZ concept. As you say yourself, you want to do the same thing repeatedly for a long time so that the computer gives you extra powers for doing that - then it will be easier for you to beat the noobs ? If you can't beat the new players or less experienced players already you are playing the game wrong. If the other player sees you before you see him you are playing the game badly. That's why you loose. If you don't have the right equipment and you don't shoot before he does - you blew it. It is a tough game and there are loosers every minute. Start again. If you think getting the drop on someone is "unfair" then try talking instead. If "nothing in the game is difficult", why do you want to grind to make things easier for yourself ? (please don't answer this last question, it's rhetorical)
