all the games on all the servers are exactly the same official DayZ Standalone game If you wish: you can pay to rent a copy of the game running on a server then you are the administrator of that one copy of the game but your copy is still exactly the same as all the other examples of DayZ, it is still the same official game look on the forums here to see what are the rights and obligations of an admin some admins have different attitudes to how they run the game but an admin cannot change the DayZ game so all the servers in the list are official, all the DayZ games are 100% from the creators of DayZ xx pilgrim

Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
pilgrim* replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
maybe hardcore players are naturally blinkered, so they don't mind having such a limited point of view in the game ? I say this with the greatest compassion and sympathy for my fellow players, both on Normal and Abnormal servers, and hope I will not be misunderstood -

3pp is more to my liking I agree with GRick 100% What he says is true IMO However, I remember something from BI quite a while ago, where they explained an aspect of 3pp, and why 3pp was incorporated As a human being, at the moment I'm sitting in front of my pc, I have a horizontal field of view that includes about 160° (maybe a bit more). If I put my arms straight out sideways from my shoulders, and look in front of me, without turning my eyes I can - just about - see the fingertips of each hand at the same time when I move them. Try it: so everything from far left to far right I can notice and react to in real life. But in 1pp (in the game) I have a field of view considerably less than half of that. I see what is on the screen, but from side to side the screen does not stretch all the way across in front of me. Nowhere near. It only shows a small part of my real human field of view. Similar for vertical view - but less, and it's usually less important. So to deal with this - for players who wanted to have more realistic situational awareness - BI included the option to pull the viewpoint back somewhat, so you see your avatar in front of you. Now your field of view corresponds better to what you can see if you are really in the field. But it is only an approximate imitation of the human field of view, still - better than nothing ? I understand that this was one of their considerations. This is why players say they feel claustrophobic in 1pp - they are right, they can't see a lot compared to real life. OK - just wanted to explain that. But - GrimeyR is still completely right about 1pp and balance. Really depends what kind of game you want to play. Could claim that these are 2 different games, and the playstyle is different for each (not better or worse). xx -
well - (anyway) we all agree it does not have to be realistic to be authentic whatever definitions are used, we can understand what Rocket's getting at.

True, very True: And in DayZ we already have the Green Mountain Myth so you could easily run into bigfoot there but - bloodmoney, before you are swampled by the usual forumcrazy input, you really ought to read Ella's Standalone Guide - good intro to everything you need to know if you don't know it already and worth reading

Make server restart warning compulsory
pilgrim* replied to General Zod's topic in General Discussion
I was reading this thread and thinking about my local low-ping-area, where late evening there are maybe 2 full servers, and quite a few with 3 - 5 players. Nearly every time I log in to one of the 3 - 5 players.. after a short time it restarts.. and if I go back to the same one it restarts again soon after.. and there will be 3 of the players still the the same after each restart.. so I was thinking about admins of that kind, and how they must be irritated by this thread and suddenly 'ping' a NO vote turns up with no text to explain it It made me laugh. Is there another explanation ? Come on N0-sayers.. will just one of you tell who you are and why you vote 'no' ? -
Q : How long does it take to become an expert sniper ? A : Nobody knows.

Irish, when you're eating your beans you don't kind of heap them up on your plate and squash them into a mountain shape, do ya ? (or do ya?) On topic - I think player name is a good point. Everyone on this thread seems as if they thought a moment or two about what name to give themselves .. hmm, except for .... [ you know who I mean ]

boar spear / bear spear / BOHEMIAN EARSPOON - relatively short and heavy and has two "lugs" or "wings" on the spearsocket behind the blade, which act as a barrier to prevent an injured and furious boar from working its way up the shaft of the spear to attack the hunter Don't worry Shrub not ever used for the unicorn pig, of course. perish the thought. xx pilgrim -

Survival rule #1: Don't believe everything you see on youtube entertainment channels. Players KoS for all kinds of reasons. Some players KoS because they can do, it messes up other player's game and makes them feel good, its legal, some people get a kick from vicarious death. Understand that KoS is a real danger in DayZ, and something every survivor has to deal with. It can kill you faster than starvation or falling off a ladder. It is part of the game and you have to be aware of it or you won't survive. If you want to "fight" KoS you must do it in the game, by tactical communication, but this is a technique that has risks - of course (like any DayZ strategies). Waiting untill you are shot and then complaining, is not good survival strategy. - enjoy - -
A dairy cow, with prominent udder and less muscle than is typical of beef breeds, bred for the ability to produce large quantities of milk. Their meat is of relatively low value and is generally used for processed meat. Calming music can improve milk yield, probably because it reduces stress and relaxes the cows in much the same way as it relaxes humans.

Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness
pilgrim* replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
So - we have water all over the place except in the major remaining wilderness area, where there is no water. if you don't see this as somehow a problem, I'm fine with that. A little confused, but no prob. Most players are not interested. If everyone finds this normal, I'm a minority voice, it's cool.. Urban pvp is perhaps the order of the day, and the future trend in SA. Permanent storage and/or bases will be perhaps also be urban only ? I like wilderness, like forests, hunting, etc. I understood the thread was against the marginalization of wilderness. I think wilderness is a useful game-theme and should affect gameplay including the play of urban-based players. This was the case in the mod (but only IMO, of course). I think now I must have misunderstood your OP, so I'll leave it to you. Let's see what happens when permanent storage comes into the game, and how it is implemented. Will any players make use of wilderness at all ? - as for instance as they did in the mod, or in other, new ways ? Would be a pity if the players who are interested in wilderness started bickering among themselves, as their voice is already pretty marginal. xx -
?? so why do you do it ? For myself - I don't. No point in my case.
