    Sniping is a cowards technique?

I must be slow, I still don't get the point : 3pp has always been a feature in ArmA since way back .. and 3pp and 1pp have been in DayZ since the first day of the Mod. And to make absolutely certain there is never a problem with 3pp or 1pp, and to guarantee that EVERYONE has what they want, BI ensured there was - a 3pp version for players who wanted 3pp, and - 1a pp version for players who wanted 1pp. In DayZ if you want 1pp you play on a 1pp server, if you want 3pp you play on a 3pp server. Are you saying you want to play 1pp but you want to do it on a 3pp server ? you say: "there are so many games that would be better without but decided to allow it" Can you name the games that have seperate distinct servers to cater for 1pp and 3pp players ? I only know of DayZ maybe you know others ? So what is "sad" about the two versions of DayZ ? You want to play on a 1pp server yourself, but you also want to stop people from playing on 3pp servers ? There is a GAME you can play, you might like, called = < DayZ 1PP > = . Try it.

    Sniping is a cowards technique?

But .. but ... 3pp really is a planned game feature.. isn't it ? You think it just happened by mistake and the dev's didn't notice it, and now everyone takes advantage of it except honest folk ? There is another glitch that some players call "running" You may have heard cheaters talking about it? If you press the right combo your tune will actually go faster, so you can move about more rapidly than players who are walking or crawling in the normal way. We don't like to talk about "running" because if word spread everyone would start doing it to get out of trouble situations very easily. Then the game would be ruined and unplayable.

    Notes on the ground

I I liked Chapter 3 with the gasmask and the icecream, but I didn't understand the thing at the end. Notes seem to be catching on. Don't ever stop to look at them if they are lying out in the open in a public place.

What Do You Want to See When you die?

did you read the thread, Lee ? http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/202753-what-do-you-want-to-see-when-you-die/page-3#entry2038799 ( a blond, a bronze uplift, leopardskin underwear, she has a message for you, what else do you want ?) xx [this is the screen for male players, the screen for the girls is better]

More likely in Chernarus than vinyards would be potato fields, I guess. if you found a still in a shed, you could make fuel, molotovs or .. other stuff they distill from potatoes wiki/Potatoes

    My response to dupers.

Don't blame yourself for that, blame "playing DayZ" for that. if you don't like playing DayZ at the moment ... you don't have to but that's no reason to spoil it for others. I guess you really agree .. right ? 1 ) "there isn't much to do in the game than just run and kill everybody" 2 ) "Duping just makes collecting gear faster, that's it" so you dupe, then: 1 ) "there isn't anything to do in the game than just run and kill everybody" 2 ) nothing and that makes it better for you ? dude, what you doing here ? you know how many games there are ? why do you play a game you don't like that bores you ? are you crazy ? "abuse it" - (lol) and abuse other real players while you're doing that. I guess you don't have what it takes to play the real game, hu ? lack of respect xx

    Lost my rifle TWICE now

Have you downloaded 0.48 for Experimental ? If you have version 0.48 loaded, and you play Standard (0.47) there are a number of strange movement glitches ATM. - when I tried to drink from a lake I threw myself prone in the water and stood up again with arms in the handcuff position (no handcuffs) and couldn't get out.. sighting down the gun which I could now equip held behind my back showed me the ground .. only cure was to log out and back. No fun. If you have version 0.48 running, use Steam Library to "opt out of betas" and Steam will revert you back to 0.47 in 1 minute, then various movement glitches go away. Maybe yours too. If you have this problem on Experimental - or you have it on Stable when you have 0.47 loaded (version number shows in the top right corner when you start DayZ) then maybe it is a real bug. Check bug reports, put in a report. xx

    Sniping is a cowards technique?

Someone says in a youtube commentary, that "DayZ enormously favors the player who is stationary over the player moving into contact". - meaning in 3pp obviously.. "standard game" ( now called 3pp at last ) This comment is true - it's not exploiting if you consider that it is a base condition of the game - if you move into an area you are much more vulnerable than the player who is already there - this is always true. I think if you know this you can live with it because it's the same every time. You might even argue that it has similarities with real contact/assault/penetration situations (but I'm not making that argument) I'm just saying it's a condition of the game, same for all players. As long as you know it, you're ok, you're still in-game. move carefully, I guess.. the other player has the advantage. - and even in 3pp he has to have line of sight to shoot. After 20 years of front-line experience Robert Capa said famously : "If you don't move they can't see you"

    Sniping is a cowards technique?

A thing nobody mentioned yet about snipers - everybody hates them If you're going to snipe, don't expect anyone to give you a chance to surrender when they catch up with you.

    A theory on random sounds

Yes the Bible can fix a lot of things. If you carry it in an outside pocket it should stop bullets, as it does in reality and movies. I saw a youtube vid (months ago) where the player climbed on a roof and approached a sniper with his bible in his hand. "I will read to you from the good book," he said, and started reading - and the sniper twitched a bit and died on the spot, stone dead. I can't find this vid anymore, but it is there "power of the book" or "the word is strength" or something similar ? Also LeeVanSplif is right - it is time the zombie priests from the Mod came back.. they were worth meeting. I have been chased around the church by several of them after a disagreement on fine points of moral philosophy. A zombie suddenly howling right in your ear, when you are in a bush far from anywhere, certainly puts you in mind of the shortness of life and the meaning of it all. It makes you think quite deeply, don't it ?

    A theory on random sounds

I've heard other players say it happens when players are close to your location. Seems to be more frequent when there are more than 10-15+ players online. When there are very few players you don't hear it. I'd say it is probably not related to proximity, but others are sure it is. It is not related to zombie locations. I have heard these sounds in the far NW where there are no zombie spawns at all... (as far away from zombie locations as you can be on the map) Can it be animal related ? Like the sounds the rabbits made in earlier patches ? And where have the rabbits gone ? (this is totally 116% wild speculation and has no connection to reality, RL or RP or Virtual, based on being alone too long and talking to my friends the undead rabbits, but now they have ... ... gone .. gone off to drink cans and ... count bullets somewhere and .. left me?) tell them you saw me Hai !

    Skinning Animals in .47

thanx for that at the moment I'm still looking for a damn knife, or at least a machete - one good thing I found out while looking, is that the SKS bayonet is good for killing zombies (like a straight punch) .. M4 bayonet (is nice looking, like a big bush knife) works too for fighting. Pitchfork is good against zombies, but you are not going to carry a pitchfork all the time just to find worms, you always need an axe in survival.

Things I immediately noticed about today's release...

(no prob, I was just confused when I read it, it's not my style of speech) sniper's squat ? .. the people I know call it shooter's squat here - sit with one leg out and one bent up, or (usually) kneel on one knee with the other knee up and that foot flat on the ground, to rest on the high knee. it's just a practical thing if you aren't lying down, and there is grass or undergrowth between you and target. Or you can just lean against a tree either standing or crouched. but this thread is my theory about better SWAY in the game: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/206630-sway-function-math-suggestion/#entry2072241

    Skinning Animals in .47

M4 bayonet used to work before 0.47. I had one then, still have it - it wore down quickly when skinning so you had to sharpen it back up. Since 0.47 it does not work. Also SKS bayonet does not work for skinning. My bad luck - I have not found a kitchen knife since animals were introduced. Passed by 1 machete but did not keep it. Knives, axes, machetes you can sharpen back up to "damaged" status, but if they fall to "ruined" status you can't sharpen them. When you use a damaged knife or axe it will fall to "badly damaged" after one use (usually) so you have to sharpen it back up straight away. Use it twice and you wreck it. This means your knife is always "damaged" at best, so you only ever get 50-60% of meat. Carry a stone with you (also use it to make fireplace, recover it afterwards). Camping gas cookers are not working ATM, as far as I know. Fishing is easy.

    Grass is worthless eye candy

Bodies in cover or prone at a distance = give them transparency according to distance, or a semi transparent green pattern skin
  22. Grimey Rick mistakenly banned - I am certain Battleye will sort this out. But in the meantime .. this explains why so many players are saying it is too easy to survive. bring back GR (heh)
  23. You get false positives with any antivirus software, and that is pretty much what battleye is. If you have detection on max, your software detects harmless stuff, and if you lower the paranoia level, some new unwanted programmes slip through because that's what they are designed to do. A standard continuing function of battleye and any 'antivirus', is to keep up to date on the new infiltration/evasion techniques without calling too many false positives. It's always an ongoing and updating situation. I think, IMO, they have a good grip on it - it's hard to say (isn't it) how many forms of attack they have stopped altogether, how many they have limited and crippled, and how many bad users have been discouraged from using anti-game software, just because battleye is there and we know it is always updating. Their sucesses are invisible. The only things visible are the still operative cheats, those battleye is working to eliminate at the present. And false positives must be just as important to them as any other part of their investigation and development.
