  1. I think that was either what the reloading sound upon logging in was supposed to represent, or that sound was an unintended consequence but used for exactly what you intended. Honestly, now with the server login timers the issue will reduce. Situations will still come up, but I don't think you'll see people using it as an everyday tact in terms of the ghosting. People may still try and combat log, but if you're an aggressive player you can make them pay for it now. Problem solved I'd say.

    Spears

I like this idea a lot. In theory a Fresh Spawn could gather the materials to make a crude spear at the first house with a garage they come to. I don't think they should very powerful, representing the ease which with one could be crafted. The main benefit would be the added range making it safer to engage zombies with. It is the same reason I want makeshift stabbing weapons, or a shiv as it is sometimes referred too. Use a pair of pliers or a wrench (perhaps pipe wrench would be better, but then why not just take pipe wrench?) on a screwdriver and viola. Or, depending exactly what a "shard" is (it seems to be an upcoming crafting material), add that with duct tape for same effect. Something that can be commonly made, but is not as good as even a kitchen knife. Mind you all of this is a moot point as long as simply punching remains as effective as it is in its current state.

    ADD LTL ROUNDS!

I think the way that the Shock Meter (tracked independently from Health and Blood it seems) works could be used as is. Where as most damage does a larger amount of health damage than shock damage (presumably, the notable exception being zombie attacks), LTL would be the opposite. Some health damage maybe, but a large amount of Shock Damage. The lower a targets Blood level, the faster you can knock them out by doing Shock damage (theoretically how it works now). If what I explained (as it has been explained to me) is how it works, the implementation of the system would not take long at all. In the case of tasers, the Shock damage should be enough to overcome full Blood level in one shot I would say rendering immediate unconsciousness which itself would simulate an incapacitated state since tasers do not knock people out so far as I know. Again, the higher their Blood level the faster they would regain consciousness - which for someone at full Blood would be almost immediately likely - several seconds, or around there. Low Blood levels might take several minutes - not perfect, but it works off of the existing system. Good, yes? Edit - IMO this is also how most Blunt Melee weapons should work as well.
  4. Less ammo should be a yes. Or at least, not in quantities it was spawning before. I think the real issue was that every magazine that spawned was spawning full. If they put a variable count into that equation, it would help a lot I believe - that way if you hit an airfield and find six mags, you're not finding 120-240 rounds in under five minutes. In regards to the KoS, really right now they have they're playstyle and there is not much anyone can do about it. I mean if it is fun for them, then fine. I do wish it wouldn't ruin others fun, but can't be helped right now. Perhaps we'll get the option to have PVP endorsed servers - I would wager a guess that most KoSers are just bored, not malicious. I'm sure the Dev team is looking into ways to curb this, such as reduced mil-spec gear spawns, more zombies, tougher zombies, loud sounds perhaps even "spawning" additional zombies in nearby proximity, etc. Any or all of those things will chip away at ignorant KoS - by that I mean those that do it because they can and get a kick out of it. But KoS seems like it will always be around, just hopefully not as rampant. Patience is key here I think.

List of Ideal Weapons for the SA

I would say when the AK-74M comes in, just add the option to find and attach Wood-style Stocks and Hanguards to replace the standard issue black plastic ones. Will give you the same feeling without having to make a dedicated 7.62 AK round.
  6. I thought of this today and wondered if it might not be interesting. Right now there is a bit of metagame that happens when coming up to locations to loot. A high percentage of the time, zombies present and closed doors says "this area hasn't been looted and there are no other players around." Zombies not present and doors open says "this area has already been looted, and possibly someone is still around - I better pay attention and be careful now." The Zombies being around problem may/may not be taken care of by Zombie respawning. Theoretically Loot Respawning could fix the open door problem, because then you never really would know. But my suggestion aims to put players in a bit of an emotional bind - if you walked into a town right after a server restart and didn't really see any noticeable zombies and saw that a few spots had open doors, would you not pause to consider your options? Possible play it really carefully and find a vantage point to see if anyone was around? I would say if the Devs were to implement this idea start with 50% of doors/gates being open, test it on the experimental server and adjust from there based off of feedback. It would be another fun little way to take some of the metagame out of the game. What say the masses?

    Fresh Servers Spawning Open Doors/Gates

Hmm, well once more graphics optimizations have occurred we may very well see this - at least, extended the footprints beyond a few seconds. Thanks for the tip, I've never noticed before!

    Fresh Servers Spawning Open Doors/Gates

That is so fantastic - now I'll know if I ever come across that. You'll get random beans one day on the most recent post you've made and maybe not know why. But it's because those t-shirts saved someone's life. @TEST_SUBJECT_83 - it's not about whether or not to loot houses with open doors. It's about removing the metagame of "Oh, that door is open, someone has been/still is here." All the points you made are good ones, and I personally operate the exact same way as you and chaingunfighter. I'm just saying, it becomes an ambience thing - a little bit of a mind job for those not quite jaded in their playing experience, who still feel the thrill of a possible encounter.

piles of dead littering the streets

I'm not one for over-the-top gore just for the sake of it, but realistic gore done properly can have a profound impact (if you laughed at that, you're probably mentally damage :P). I would say only if done right - which I would say the bus scene on the SE peninsula was. Random bodies just lying around everywhere, torn to pieces, blood trails leading every which way...why? Also keep in mind - I have no idea what the rating on this game currently is, but it might not have been pushed into the highest bracket just yet. Extra gore could do that, and that might hurt the bottom line. Just saying.
  11. For sure. I guess I should have said get a weapon in the game for the major roles, add for some of the niche roles, then fill it out with a few extras based on taste, regional accuracy, or even that old-school feeling. In your exact example, I would say let's have the Mosin, the SVD, the Ruger, and a .308 hunting rifle maybe (or appropriately chambered rifle for an ammo already in game would be even better). I would say more or less all our bases are covered unless the community has to have an anti-material rifle too. I guess if Rocket and the Super Team (not smartassery, you guys are super) get environmental damage going down the road anti-material rifles could be a lot of fun. Honestly, I think we're on the same page - not even sure why I'm posting this response lol. Edit - out of curiousity chaingunfighter, do you know if the upcoming Blaser B97 is going to be the rifle version or the shotgun version? does anyone else know for sure? I just assumed it would be the shotgun, didn't realize it could be an over/under rifle too - on the website the manufacturer seems to indicate that the shotgun version is the B95.

    Timekeeping devices!

Almost positive that watches are coming in - to what degree of detail I don't know, but the way you use the compass in game is pretty frickin great (didn't even realize I could press spacebar and see it while moving - was looking at it in the tab screen all the time like a dummy!) so I'm intrigued to see what they do with watches. This site, which seems to be on the ball, has them confirmed "to be implemented": http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Watch It's got previews of a lot of the other upcoming equipment too, check it out.

List of Ideal Weapons for the SA

Honestly this. The models for upcoming guns look done (wasn't it you that posted images in my other thread? pretty sure it was) so I also would love to see the art team working on fleshing out the "improvised" weapons and the hunting/foraging aspects of the game. Too many mil-spec weapons and this is BF with zombies and some survival elements. Honestly that's just my opinion - I want this game to be different because I don't know that it every wanted to be/could be the top end shooters. But I don't really play those games - I'd have to do bunch of uppers to keep up with these kids nowadays and that ain't my style. This game is different, a survival games that happens to have guns in it, as well as zombies. That is fun to me, but then again who am I to dump on anyone else's idea of fun? Just saying there are other games out there featuring a much wider selection of guns, and a lot of them even have zombies too. Let's leave those games be who they are, and this game who it is.

What Exactly Do We Want From Loot/Zombie Respawning?

From what I've heard, the Devs don't want servers to have to restart unless a patch comes out (maybe not even then) or their is a service interruption of some kind. This is coming from multiple other people who have discussed this very issue, so I unfortunately don't have a link for you. But it does make sense. Servers restarting every four hours is a) abusing the system and b ) likely a temporary solution until loot and zombie respawning is instituted.
  15. We're throwing some pretty good ideas on this around in here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/171081-enhancing-fall-damage-leg-injuries-treatments/?hl=%2Bbroken+%2Bbones Not my thread, not trying to push it on you lol.

Enhancing Fall Damage: Leg Injuries & Treatments

I think the system does need to be fleshed out some, but I think you've taken it a little too far. I do like how you've categorized the wounds based on severity, but in sticking with the nature of how this game lets us know we're hurt what about something like this? "I feel a throbbing pain." - the player has a severe sprain or simple fracture in an out of the way place, such as hand/wrist, jaw, etc (if damage to individual body parts is able to be tracked in the future that is). This would represent the damage taken from a minor fall, maybe one or two hits from a lighter blunt weapon or zombie. The damage would apply straight to health and shock. Treatment: morphine, painkillers, or improvised splint or better. "I think something is broken." - the player has a severe sprain or simple fracture in a more serious spot, such as a foot/ankle, any other joint, ribs, but not a major weight supporting bone. This would mostly represent the damage taken from a good melee scrap, a more serious fall (maybe up to one story?), and likely also having a tactical vest eat a few bullets. Again the damage would apply straight to health and shock, but would be a higher value thus triggering the second and more serious statement. Depending if the specific body part can be tracked, effects such as reduced movement speed and/or aim penalties would not be out of the question if easily accomplished. Treatment: morphine or painkillers, and an improvised splint or better. "Something is definitely broken." - the player has a fracture or even compound fracture in a serious spot, such as leg, arm, back, etc. This would represent a serious injury taken either in a melee fight, getting shot but surviving, or a dangerous fall. In regards to the fall, this would be one only survivable if you could eat the damage by having more health - e.g. the fall is going to do roughly 2000 damage straight to health, you need to have more than that to survive it. It would not be out of the question for your character to go unconscious from the fall if the shock was high enough. Again, consequences such as movement speed and/or aim penalties make sense. Treatment: morphine, and an proper splint (possibly vitamins to help with healing). "I can hardly move, I need help." - the player has suffered multiple fractures or multiple compound fractures. This would represent multiple serious injuries sustained either in a melee, multiple gunshot wounds yet surviving, or a fall that should have killed you. Again, this should really only be accomplished if you had protective gear on and were at full health. In a fall, unconsciousness should be a guarantee in this case or if not bleeding then - likely not both, otherwise the player would not likely survive unless helped (could be the point however). Consequences should be extremely limited movement, such as limited to crawl only. Treatment: morphine, and an proper splint (possibly vitamins to help with healing), and likely blood replacement. That is how I would do it at any rate. And as with the other Status', I suppose a system could be developed for upgraded the severity in the case a player was not immediately able to treat the wound. For example "I think something is broken." could become "Something is definitely broken." if the player had to travel some distance in order to find the materials to make a splint.

    Non-lethal weapons

I've seen the suggestion a few places, and it has merit. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167375-add-ltl-rounds/ That thread has a good conversation going. It has also been mentioned in both of these collaborative idea threads (disclaimer, one of which is mine) so rest assured other share your view :) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/170636-master-list-of-equipable-items-the-community-wants-in-the-game/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/164282-suggest-an-item-thread/

List of Ideal Weapons for the SA

Some good suggestions in this list. I think what we really need to remember is the more we ask/demand the Devs add, the worse the Loot Table Dilution is going to be. I keep mentioning this, and it is not without cause. Surely we can get by with one or two examples to fill each roll? Take shotguns for example. Right now we already have one in game, it looks like the Remington 870 is coming, and then they are adding the Blaser 97 Over/Under barrel - just not sure if the rifle or shotgun version. But if it is the shotgun version, well yes - they are three distinctive shotguns. Two have a one-two shot mode, one is a pump action. They are all shotguns however, is whether you fire from over/under or side-by-side that important? All I'm saying is, fill the roles first - no semi-automatic shotguns? I'm not even talking mil-spec, or at least not full-auto - chaingunfighter mentioned some really good options above, especially the Saiga 12 which would make a lot of sense. We have no SMG right now. We have no LMG right now. To be honest I don't know if we need either, but you can see what I'm saying. I don't think we need three more bolt-action, 5 round mag, WWII era rifles. I don't think we need a dozen different assault rifles. Once they add the AK-74M, maybe add an HK and/or an FN as another NATO based rifle. Once they add the CZ-75 pistol, maybe add in a Makarov and/or GSh-18 which are two very popular Russian-region pistols in military and police service - plus the Makarov would have had huge surplus from the Soviet-era, so I'm sure you can get one today in Eastern Europe no problem. Once the add the Ruger 10/22, maybe add another bolt-action hunting rifle like a CZ or a Remington - maybe, because don't they just fill the same roll as the Mosin? If we did all of what I suggested above, including one SMG and one LMG we are up to 14 firearms in the game. And that is not even counting the impending bows/crossbows. Surely those kinds of numbers are enough, even if we didn't use the specifically mentioned weapons? Fourteen weapons can be a lot if you are looking for a specific one of those. The other thing to keep in mind is, if you're mentioning a weapon that is not chambered in an existing caliber (or soon to be existing caliber, which will be the 5.45x39mm, 9x19mm, and .22 caliber) then we need even more ammo types. More ammo types will mean it will be that much harder to find specific ammo for the weapon you do manage to find.

    Add .38 Special to Standalone

Not the worst idea - the .38 special can be used for other guns as well as having the multi-weapon functionality. I'd say let's let them bring in the guns they're already working on, and then bring this up again.

    KSK/Saiga 12

Disclaimer :) Edit, also pretty sure KS-23 was a carbine that fired 23 gauge rounds used in the Prison System.

    Fresh Servers Spawning Open Doors/Gates

Not just on restarts (which, lets be realistic, it'll happen on occasion) but whenever a server starts. Most updates/patches will cause a restart anyway. The point is, you log in and you know for sure the server just reset for whatever reason - it is all about fear of the unknown. That's my point.
  24. I can see that you want it - what about the community? Throw me and others the link here.
  25. Updated with a few new items, you can find them in italic. A few weapons, weapon slings, customizable clothing for indentifiers like armbands, etc. Man do a lot of people start threads about the same subjects :O
