    SKS 30 round magazine attachment

I guess it'd be about as likely as finding US made weapons at every Russian military position on the map? Anyway, unless there is a real draw back in doing so, Rocket and the team may allow the (rumored) AK-74M magazines to be used by the SKS. Like OP said, in way the two weapons are part of the same family. I don't even know if I'd bother with the screwdriver portion. Edit - errr, I'll leave the original post as is but the error of my ways came to me as soon as I posted. The 74M mags would be for 5.45 rounds while the SKS uses the 7.62 I believe so my bad. There would have to be a unique mag, but you could call it "Adapted AK-47 Mag" or something, which would likely be plentiful.

    New Canned Food

I've been pondering stuff like this as well, as in just how much variety do we need of items that realistically do the same thing - in this case the example would be "give food". Your list is well put together and comprehensive, but my concern is would having that many added items and the variety it brings be better for the game? Yes it would I suppose, but my concerns are if cluttering the loots tables would lead to larger issues. I would personally say maybe take a few items that offer a unique difference to what we already have, such as: - Canned Mixed Fruit - a healthy choice with near instant energy return - Canned Mixed Vegetables - another healthy choice, but more hardly than the fruit - Canned Ham - a high protein choice - Tin of Caviar - in keeping with the Russian theme, basically a luxury item I would add those four items to the Loot Tables, rather than added the 20+ specific ones you have only for simplicities sake. What do you think?
  3. Seems like this should be another good patch, making good progress. Also, to everyone complaining about zombies and pathing issues - I personally love it that you never quite know where a zombie might come at you from when you're in a house. If this were a "real event" you don't think zombie's would enter a building by any means available to them? Through windows? Maybe smash holes in walls if flimsy material? Etc. I don't know if Devs ever planned to have breakable windows complete with zombies crawling in or whatever, but until they do I'd rather not have them only enter through doorways because camping is not only boring but takes a lot of fear out of the game. My two cents. Disclaimer - I consider camping and sniping/hunting two different things, don't want to get into a fight about it, just how I feel.

Maybe nerf the healing a little?

I've found a couple times that no matter how much I ate or drank and no matter how much I conserved energy the Healthy status would not come up. I hopped to another server those few times and the healthy status was immediately there or there soonish (it takes time for the body to absorb that energy). I think it may just be an occasional bug, and it doesn't seem server related in the sense that it always happened on the same server.

    Cars as loot location?

Totally agree Redwolf - either the majority of the spawn locations aren't working as intended or have rates so low it seems that way. Not sure which I guess, until I finally find loot in a location I never have before. Something a little more than what we have now, but definitely not as high as it was would be nice. Also, it "seemed" like the loot tables were much harsher on the hardcore server I was playing on. Granted most of the little houses in the tucked away little village are usually poor loot locations as it is, seven houses and finding only two cans of pop is nuts. I really wanted a shirt - mine was gone for bandages lol.

    Mythical 'Healthy' Status

@ BadAsh - cleaning your wounds with the Alcohol Tincture does give a responding status such as "My wounds feel cleaner" after a time. However like you said, infections don't seem to be in the ame atm so it's likely a moot point - but the Tincture is indeed active. Unless they just shut that down somehow in the latest patch - if that's what you're saying, you may very well be right.

Gas Canister and portable gas lamp

Lol Spartan, I'm going to try that. And yes, you can set it on the ground and it will give off light. My question: "Do beams of light still shoot through walls like we are living in feudal japan?"

    Cars as loot location?

Agreed, loot seems down across the board. In one way yesterday I was frustrated because I'd gotten used to how it was, in another way I realized I had to adapt and that made it more challenging which was fun.

    Wow

This thread made me smile, then laugh, then sad. I appreciate what you were trying to do Cyreck - I've been lucky to have more positive encounters then negative ones. By that I mean a majority of the time I've come across other players no griefing has occurred on either side. Sometimes a shootout occurs, sometimes a friendly wave, occasionally even a trade or teamwork. It makes the game a lot more fun truth be told. As for the vehicles question, I'd really hope that vehicles require teamwork. I don't know how complicated it would be to implement, but perhaps the only way to get a vehicle running would either be through a ridiculous single player timesink or a multi-player coordinated effort ala three people each doing a different task at different points of a car at the same time with the appropriate parts/tools etc. Even then, I would make it very rare. If I log in on DayZ one day and find it has became GTAZ I'll be very sad. Like, cry myself to sleep sad :(
  12. It helps separate those who not only want to use a particular playstyle, but also so they don't have to worry about others "exploiting" the other variety of playstyle. Not that everyone who plays in 3rd person does, but I can see how some would perceive it as unfair.

    Daytime servers

That's fair enough noblue, hopefully optimization down the road will fix that for you.

    Correcting SA ballistics

Great work Gews! I usually don't crunch the numbers from the code itself, but I could tell the ballistics were definitely off. Like you said, hopefully a lot of the values are placeholders for now. The game seems to strive for authenticity, so I imagine at some point this will be corrected - but you are right in that the real danger here is too many players "getting used to how it works" when it is incorrect and then complaining once it is working properly. I think posting the raw data here along with your alterations is great, it allows those less educated in ballistics to understand what we're talking about - hopefully the Dev team takes your suggestions.

    Daytime servers

To everyone saying nighttime doesn't work for them - why not? If you don't enjoy it, I guess that is one thing but I hear a lot of people either a) flat out won't even try it b ) try it once and quit because annoying/too hard or c) crank their gamma up and play like it's day. I played around for a couple hours on a nighttime server the other day and two things happened - I found I enjoyed my experience a lot more, because a lot of the ease of the current build was gone simply by reducing my sight range and I also experience my first twilight which was also very neat. Just saying, give it a good go - plus because a lot of people avoid night like the plague, you often can loot to your hearts content on those servers if you want to find and test things out.

Did they add the SKS Rifle?

Agree with wartzilla - my damn quote isn't working for some reason. Parts of this game, especially when it comes to firearms, accessories, etc are quite accurate and others not so much. If you're going for accuracy in the details, go all the way.
  17. In regards to the ammo debate, my bet would be on misrepresentation. Regardless of whether or not the 7.62x51mm can be fired out of the Mosin (which it can), the real questions is how "realistic" the Dev team want the firearms in this game to feel. I know "realistic" and "zombie apocalypse" hardly belong in the same sentence, but hear me out: I love the Russian setting in this game, it is different. They've gone to extreme lengths to make everything feel like "the Russian version of" if not an actual Russian product. If that was the case, we'd likely see the ammo boxes labled as 7.62x54mm which would be the true Russian manufactured cartridge for that rifle and several others. Or the other explanation that someone offered that we will eventually see .308 firing weapons in the game could be true, but then in that case I'd prefer to see the box in English for realism's sake (assuming of course the Russian don't re-box stuff like that - I'm pretty sure nowhere over there manufactures that ammo type locally).

Finally found a Mosin, and left it there

What you suggest could be interesting waffen, however most games will simply stick with an artificially slower fire rate and make the manual chambering of the round an automatic animation.

    Character roll-back after new patch?

Character resets should practically be expected, as well as game instability. We're here to test this for them and don't forget that we paid for the right to deal with bugs, bugs, and more bugs so that others didn't have to. We PAID for the right. Every user was made plainly aware that they really should not pay into the alpha but we did anyways. So chill, continue to post issues like this in a constructive manner so that the Dev team can look for resolution, and enjoy the experience along the way. @ AdamUK - and yes, if the issue is database instability then it is good that they are ironing it now rather than later. But maybe dial back expectations.

    Do you combat log?

Newer player, want to ask something out of confirmation: So I've only engaged other players in combat a few times, actually surprising how many friendly or at least non-violent encounters can be had. Of the times I have or have been engaged, I'm usually going down because I don't go straight after guns upon spawning (there's a lesson in that sentence somewhere...). But now once I'm down in the unconscious state, do you consider it combat logging if I logout to respawn rather than waiting to see if I become conscious again (I just learned that can happen)? I pretty much assumed logging out to respawn was a better use of my time, but I have no idea if that someone is "cheating the other player's experience" or not.
