Phones, Pepper Spray, Tear Gas, Wallets, Belts, Hip Flasks
Sawnek replied to bobotype3334's topic in Suggestions
I like the idea of restraining somebody with a belt. As handcuffs seem to spawn so often within the game, perhaps they could make handcuffs a little more rarer (Spawning only in police stations and perhaps a couple other spots), then have belts be as common as they are. It would be the less reliable way of restraining somebody. -
I started off from playing the mod some time last year, although I knew about DayZ at least a year before, watching a couple of videos on it at the time. I later bought the Standalone on the first day of release via Steam.

Whether you care for the controversy or not, I'm sure you could already see the headlines on the news: "Child Murder Simulator Hits PC" Or some over-exaggerated headline like that, while controversy can get a game out there, much like GTA, even if they added children into the game it would bring some really bad controversy to the game.

Here you go:

I don't think it would. I've had a situation where I'll hear somebody talking nearby, I'll attempt to get their attention and ask if they're friendly, and then they'll stop talking and begin opening fire. I don't think KOS matters entirely on communication, but just on how the player is. As mentioned by others previously, some people just don't want to talk, whether it be due to being uncomfortable, it being late in the night or they just simply don't want to talk. The game shouldn't have to punish people for not wanting to speak.

Everything that's wrong with DayZ servers in one picture.

I always thought that the 'SUPER HIGH LOOT' titles were just the admins way of attracting players to the server. -
How exactly would toothaches affect your character though? If they were implemented, I'm sure it would happen quite often due to the amount of crap that your character eats and drinks.

What account was hacked, your Steam or DayZ?

Some of the best moments for me is when I'll see a fully-kitted out player nearby, forcing me to go into stealth to either get away, or attempt to communicate. It's those moments that are pretty damn intense for me. On the mod, I have seen a few servers where there are rules against killing other players, so definitely check those out if you're looking for a friendly server.

By the sounds of it, he probably adds it into the background during post-editing.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Bizon, MP5 or AK-74u coming in.

Chernarus needs a theatre building + other building ideas.

Agreed, perhaps have a small abandoned carnival/theme park. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this is the Pripyat Amusement Park. I could see how eerie it would be to be within a small theme park at night with the infected and bandits running through it. -
To be fair, the game is still in Alpha, meaning newer weapons and vehicles probably won't arrive for quite some time.

Me and my friends have also been having problems with Steam over the past few weeks. It's especially annoying because it always seems to happen whenever we feel like playing a game. Luckily it only goes down for a matter of minutes (The most being about 20 minutes), so it fades fairly quickly.

I don't see any problems with trading cards being added into the game. To those who think they're pointless or unnecessary can just sell the cards via the Steam Market or completely ignore them as they don't add any advantages in-game. You may think the cards have no point to them, but hey, there are people that also enjoy collecting cards.

How about this: Depending on the quality of the rag or rope or whatever gag used, would depend on how well the victim can talk through it. OP suggested that they can talk in a lower pitch voice, but how about if it's pristine, they can't talk with it, maybe if they hold down the mic button, they're character is heard attempting to speak for as long as the button is pressed. As for cutting out tongues, I don't think there's any need for that, it seems a little over the top for me. Having rags to silence the player would be fine because it would be brief and if the victim somehow escapes then they can still talk. If their tongue was removed through means of torture, how would the developers be able to make it so the players speech via microphone would be affected?

I would say that contacting the owner is worth a shot. Sure, the owner may take sides, but if that's the case then just join another server - on the other side, the owner may warn the donator too.

Nope, not a spoiler for the TV series because the TV show has passed the part where it has happened in the comics, not to mention there have been many amputations already on the show and doing anymore would just be a little stale ("Oh, another character has lost a limb..."). Merle taking his own hand off in season one would most likely be the equivalent to the spoiler mentioned in the OP, Merle wasn't in the comics by the way. With that being said, I could imagine amputations being used to torture unfortunate survivors. In the scenario of having a broken leg or an arm, you'd have to definitely have plenty of medical supplies to stop the bleeding and such.

I think one of the greatest parts of DayZ are the players themselves. We are completely unpredictable, and you may even find yourselves questioning whether or not to kill somebody. With the introduction and a heavy involvement of Non Playable Characters would come the end of that feeling, you wouldn't have to care about whether you want to kill them or not, because killing them would only be beneficial as you get items from the dead NPCs - bandit or not. I haven't played enough of Epoch to know the NPCs all too well. The only encounter I ever had was with a group of about four NPC bandits walking through the open fields near Cherno, they turned around and opened fire on me and my friend. We killed the NPCs quite quickly, and after realising that they were NPCs (No kill message came up in the chat), we didn't feel get that feeling of: "Oh shit, we just killed a group of survivors...", but it felt more like when you kill an enemy in a Single Player game - no emotion or feeling at all.

When I played on release, a lot of players I saw were wearing this (Most likely due to the fact that you could find the Payday masks quite easily), but recently I haven't seen players wearing it as much, although this may be different for you guys. A few posts I'm seeing are mentioning that they kill or don't trust anybody who wears the Payday mask. Surely this should create a negative image for the mask, meaning less players will want to wear it. As for new players who find, they will eventually learn of the 'consequences' of wearing the mask. It's product placement, but hey, at least there isn't a billboard for it, imagine how much that would kill the immersion.

I think I may have posted in a thread about Sewers before, but oh well: I like the idea of a sewer system. If you've ever played Resident Evil 2 on the PS1, a part of the game plays in the sewers - albeit a little short. I could imagine a few manholes around the city with some being wide open, and some requiring you to open it with certain objects or have an abandoned sewer treatment plant a little far away from the said city, where you can access the sewers from there. The sewers would require a flashlight, but I could imagine how startling it would be slowly exploring the sewers, hearing nothing but the sound of your footsteps, with the limited sight of what your flashlight will reveal. When you would hear the sound of screeching, turning and seeing a Zed sprinting full speed at you, or even worse, a group of survivors.

There are many post-apocalyptic games with a storyline. I just enjoy the ability to make my own story, whether I'll be a friendly survivor or a bandit. The ability to make your own decisions without a storyline holding you back makes DayZ stand out. On the other hand, it would be interesting to be able to use the already existing paper and pens found around Chernarus to write things on. People could end up writing some interesting entries in a roleplaying perspective.

I'd like bows in the game, but would definitely need a quiver added alongside the bow. It would add an element of stealth to your fights, but at the risk of accuracy. With the right physics added, the bow would make a great addition to the weapons.

Is it on the same server? If so, are you dying in the same general area?
