Solid Idea. Might help when rain gets added, keeps your head warm and dry. I would love to see post-processing effect with stuff like this. Hud up? muffle sound slighty Sunglasses on? darker but no sun glare. Gas mask? immunity to gas (duh) No foggy breath, but obstructed vision and you can hear yourself breath.

Inventory space - same capacity but 4x number of squares
Ymath replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I wouldn't mind having to store things in specific holders, but more squares and asymmetrical items.. no thanks. One of the least fun aspects of the game is the "tetris" of moving items around so they fit. At least give me an "auto-sort" feature that places everything together for me. -
Random Death without hunger/thirst messages?

shamelessly just stole your signature :) Credit given where credit is due. -

Headshot from long range can insta-kill you with no sound. You got sniped bro. Also wrong sub-forum. -
Give players badges (Like achievements, but not) for things like "Killed 1000 zombies" "Alive for 1 week in game" "Gave 50 Blood bags" "Killed 100 players" ect. These would be tiny little icons displayed next to your name in the player list screen. Obviously you should be able to choose whether or not you want these visible. To prevent screen clutter you should only be able to display about 4 of them at any given time. This would allow people to get a gauge of what kind of player you are, how long you've been playing, and if they can trust you (to some degree, because they CAN be turned off) These should NOT be silly things like "Killed a zombie with a fire extinguisher" or "fell to their death". Hell, I wouldn't mind one that said "Alpha Tester" :) My 2 cents, what do you think? Edit: Oh, and I think they should carry over from one life to the next.

Understandable. I was trying to make them less "congratulations, you killed 10 zombies" and more into "congratulations, you killed 1000 zombies". Long term stuff.
-
If you bothered to read the OP i stated they could be turned off.
-
Actually, If you press P in game, a playerlist with everyone on the server pops up. I'm in no way talking about names or badges showing up over a players head in the game world.
-
That was the mod, this is the stand alone. Also this is a bad idea, sorry.

a way to reduce KOS, combat logging, ghosting, & server hopping!

Although this thread has been posted about 10,000 times, this is one of them that actually makes a bit of sense. -
Interesting. As much as I love variation, is there really any significant difference in these rifles to warrant new models?
-
Interesting idea! There was something akin to this in BF2 project reality mod. You could throw the hook onto just about damn anything and climb it, really a lot of fun and added to the game.
-
Agreed, I would like to see some time and effort go into it. I want the dev's to tell us a story with the map.
-
I was going to post this exactly.
-
bump for good idea.

Ultra-lights are the ONLY type of aircraft I would ever want to see in DayZ. Military choppers can stay in the mod.
-
Agreed, I'm sure zombies will be fixed though. What I'd like to see is zombies that can stay on your tail with speed, but you can still find ways to evade them. Maybe the "shambling" can be saved for indoors? not the super slow version from the mod, but something in between.
-
It would be nice to have some situational awareness, especially for us first person only players. 5.1 surround (front left and right, front center, rear left and right, and sub) support would really help with that. Zombie running through the woods behind you? sounds like he's there. Player sneaking up on you at night? Heard him coming. ect.
-
Not a very realistic mechanic. Seems a bit pointless to me, sorry.
-
All good idea's, they've been mentioned before. Hopefully things like this get added.
-
Thanks for doing a search first. This seems like a good idea, they can do a lot with the current energy systems. swings could take energy, misses could cost more than hits (like they do in real life) carrying your weapon in hand could leach more energy.
-
You'd probably stop getting that response if people bothered to use the search function.
-
Neat idea, You'd have to put some limits on the amount of items, also the size and type. This could degrade them over time and eventually destroy them. How would you go about marking the location? a small dirt mound?
