I just was gently reminding him that bullets are eminently producible with a little know-how, it would be the other shooty-bits that are the problem. : P -

I agree. Making weapons beyond a simple spear or club is realistically beyond the scope of 90% of the population. There was a reason societies had specialized weapon-makers. Making something that would not only work, but stand up to repeated usage is actually rather difficult if you don't know what you are doing. I know how to make percussion caps, but I am unsure if they would work in place of primers on a modern brass cartridge. The principles are the same, but I still don't know if it would work... -

yeah, true. I've seen video's on people making muskets using nothing more than a pipe welded shut at one end, however. I wouldn't use the thing though, unless I made it and knew the pressures involved. I like my hands a little too much : P -

You do know there is a difference between a bullet and a cartridge, right? The bullet is the part that zooms out to getcha, while the cartridge is the brass that holds the propellant and primer (in the case of modern rounds) The .75 caliber lead ball fired by my musket is a "bullet". The paper tube containing the black powder to fire the bullet is the "cartridge". Important difference. -

Nope, making lead balls for a musket, something that can be done with a crucible, ball mold, and cast-off tire weights. I am against making modern cartridges in-game, just for that reason. -

I tend to get away, and stay away, from the coast, just on principle alone. Seriously, if you stay on the coast, you will find zero loot, as well as 90% of the players on a server at any given time, 90% of who will beat you to death/ shoot you dead for little reason. The smart players get out of Dodge early, and go become grizzled Mountain Men up by Vybor. Plus, don't run up to people while screaming "FRIENDLY". it is aggravating, and, sadly, not too many people will believe you, as they probably got burned in the past by some buttnugget. Stay calm, cool, and collected, and keep a low profile (don't have a weapon in hand, or have the weapon held at rest). It is best to make voice/chat contact first, as most people will react negatively once surprised. Make contact via voice/chat, THEN reveal yourself. Also, don't be a buttnugget once contact has been made. If the other player sounds/behaves like a fuckhead, be calm, but get out of there safely as soon as you can. Don't insult/provoke other people, for the reason stated above. Pretty much, you want to avoid drawing attention to yourself as much as possible. Remember your military training, and try to implement those tactics you learned as much as possible. Don't run down the center of a street, walk/jog in the treeline just to the side of the road. Don't derp (generally do stupid things, like running full-tilt) through a town or city, you will attract attention (both players and zombies) like nobodies business. Peek around the corners of buildings first, to look out for danger. Avoid high-value loot locations (supermarkets, hospitals, major weapon spawns, etc. There is a map online that is very helpful) like the plague, unless absolutely necessary. You can find literally everything you need to survive in the smaller towns north and west of the coast / major cities. Plus, the scenery is beautiful out there. I sat and watched the sun set over the mountains today south of Zelengorsk today, and it was amazing. Don't worry, this game has a steep learning curve, is all. -

I might be only a new member of this forum, but I don't know why trolls are so openly allowed. Is there a place where this can be reported? -

They don't have OCD. They have a case of "wanting to be able to understand your rambling". A horrible disease, I suffer from it myself. -

You should care, because it makes you look pretty fucking stupid, which, to be entirely honest, isn't helping your case at all.....whatever your case is. And, protip: nobody cares that you have been using computers since 1997. There is no seniority system. What we do care about, however, is how your atrocious grammar and writing style makes it next to impossible to understand....whatever it is you are trying to get across (seriously, besides the basics, all I can see is rambling) -

Yeah, pretty much. When I say I am against KOS, that doesn't mean I haven't willfully killed in Day Z before. It just means I don't run about with my assault-rifle-shaped erection blazing everywhere I go : P -

Because I would like to see PvP take more of a passive role, later on in the game. To me, PvP doesn't mean only "fuckmurder everyone because they are THERE", it could also mean competition for resources. You starve to death because somebody took all of the canned food, and you can't quite punch a cow to death. That is also PvP "getting the drop on someone" is radically different than KOS. When you get the drop on someone, you don't have to kill them. I've gotten the drop on many people. I then let them know I can see them, and I have the advantage. If I see them doing something I don't like, they get a bullet to the chest. Boom, PvP, not KOS. Banditry is also not KOS. I've been held up before. Handcuffed, headbagged, the whole nine yards. It was fun, even if there was a chance they would waste me afterwards, because there was some goddamned interaction going on, only with words, not bullets. -

One thing I didn't like about hunting in the mod was how you required a hunting knife, even if you've got an axe. I have gutted animals with a tomahawk almost as many times I've used a knife (yes, a tomahawk does not have the same blade profile as a splitting axe, yadda yadda) The point is, if you are hungry enough, you will do what you have to do to eat. Including ripping off animal hide and tearing chunky bits off of the bone. -

And, they are pretty much in the game already... And, you ain't gonna drop out of no treestand and chase someone down. A 15 foot drop is pretty much a guaranteed leg-break unless you know how to fall, and even then, you are likely to tear a ligament/muscle. -

Yeah, horses are a pretty stupid idea. Anything a horse can do, a bicycle can do better, with the immediate advantages of 1) no training time 2) no feed requirements 3) you can replace a bike tire infinitely more easily than a broken horse's leg 4) bikes would be everywhere -

Hehe... It really depends. Jerky, by it's very definition, is very lean meat. With no fat, you would essentially starve to death if you tried to live off of nothing but jerky. Now, PEMMICAN, on the other hand, is one of the only foods you can live off of literally alone. With nothing but pemmican and water, you can survive for years. Pemmican is a wonder-food. And relatively easy to make, too.
