    .22lr Damage is absurd.

You do realize you have to chamber every round on a manual-action firearm, right? Like the mosin, or the shotgun. You have to manually work the action (or, in the case of the shotgun, actually break it open to feed in shells.) in order to chamber another round. I am fully expecting the Mosin to eventually require stripper clips in order to fit 5 rounds. Having to insert one round by hand does not actually take all that long, especially with a bolt-action firearm (speaking of those, I kinda-sorta wanted a bolt-action .22...) It is just the clunky User Interface of Day Z that makes it suck. In real life, I can hold several .22LR cartridges in my left palm, and manually insert them into the chamber as I work the bolt with my right hand. Not that difficult, and it takes less than a second.

    .22lr Damage is absurd.

Eventually, you WILL make a mistake. Either you are overtired, or you have gotten cocky after being unmolested for the last 10 villages you've looted. Then, when you make that fatal mistake, I will be there to put a .22L round into your knee, and use you as bait for the zombies. .22LR, ineffective my ass.

The New Hunting Rifle And Pistol

  5. What benefit does cooking well, or building skills provide? Seriously: Bandit 1: Yeah, so we've got the newspawns handcuffed in that shack. Which one gets executed first? Bandit 2: All of them, except for the guy with the cooking perk.. I heard he can heat up a can of beans really well. Bandit 1: Fuckawesome. He sounds like a worthy addition to our group! In order to make perks/skills work, they have to be worthwhile, and diverse enough to be useful. Maybe your character was a trained medic before the apocalypse, or he is an armorer and can reload ammunition......etc.

The New Hunting Rifle And Pistol

In actuality (real life), I would prefer to use a .22LR or, more likely, a 12ga shotgun over almost every other firearm available. Available everywhere, pretty much every firearm company has a weapon that can chamber it, lightweight, multi-functionality, etc. Remember, in a long-term situation, ease of logistics trumps almost every other quality. This stands for almost every piece of gear you can own.

Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

It isn't that it isn't going to feel pain, it is the fact that it won't be able to move. The human leg is rather complicated, with muscle groups and ligaments acting in concert to move the entire limb. Get a muscle cramp, and see what I mean: You can pretty much only hop about until the cramp goes away. If muscle function is impaired (it doesn't even have to be completely removed, regular damage from say, a bullet.) the limb is essentially useless. Also, when your body metabolizes adrenaline, EVERYTHING speeds up; heart rate, muscle cells firing, everything. You'll bleed out faster running around than you do sitting still. Also Also, you have a major vein and artery in each major limb. It isn't just the femoral artery you should worry about. Look up "pressure points and bleeding" etc.

Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

Here, go shoot yourself in the limb, or in the stomach. Go ahead, destroy that muscle. Then, go run somewhere. It isn't just the pain from getting shot that would prevent you from running. Chances are, a good-sized chunk of muscle/ligament that you would ordinarily use to walk simply ISN'T THERE ANYMORE. Also, yes, due to adrenaline, chances are they wouldn't feel it, until later. They would, however, bleed out. You do know you bleed when you get shot/wounded, right? If they get shot in the lungs, they would drown in their own blood within a couple of seconds, that is, if their lung didn't collapse immediately. Everything doesn't boil down to pain, bucko.

    .22lr Damage is absurd.

That ( .22LR user taking out an AK armed player) is definitely possible. Not likely going head-to-head, but if the .22LR were to sneak up behind the other guy, and put a bullet in his dome, guess what? Free AK! Plus, the guy with the .22LR can carry SO MUCH MORE ammunition than the AK guy.

Ha, to be honest, I was thinking about moving up there once I finish my degree. Need to make some money first, to afford some new toys.

I want the woods to be dangerous..

Sorry, about to go slightly off-topic, but.... Do you know what kind of damage a .50BMG round will do to the human body? A zombie won't be getting back up from a .50 hit to the torso, as described in the book, it would be torn in half at least. A zombie with no legs is essentially mission-killed. Walk up to it, pull out a sidearm, and finish it off. Plus, you don't use artillery in a LOS situation. The Paladin described in the books has an effective range of 11 miles, and fires a 155mm shell. The effective casualty radius for a 155mm shell is 150 meters, and turns everything within that radius into PASTE. The military should've been sitting 6 miles back, lobbing HE shells into the wave of zeds. The Infantry and Crew Weapons (LMGs, HMGS, Mortars, etc) would just mop up the chunky bits left over from the artillery bombardment.

    .22lr Damage is absurd.

I use a .22LR because it is (well, was, before the panic buying) cheap, lightweight, and only requires a FID license in Massachusetts to purchase, own and operate. I've used it on everything from squirrels up to that coyote, and it has been effective on everything so far. Shot placement is key. I like to get as close as possible, then put a hollowpoint through the dome-piece. Easy, humane, and effective.

I want the woods to be dangerous..

That book was pretty stupid, IMHO. The zombies weren't even good, and the military sucked balls because the author didn't understand how modern artillery or .50BMG bullets work.

You son of a bitch. Now I won't be able to play the game at night again. Slenderman poking his face out from behind every building and tree....."shudders"

Where were you putting your shots? I've dropped a coyote with a .22LR at 20 yards with a headshot. Mangy bastard went down and didn't get up.
  17. If there is going to be an option to use direct pressure on a wound, then it should require you : 1) Be motionless 2) be sitting down 3) have empty hands Literally anything else makes no sense if you want 1st aid to be realistic.

    WTF are with the Books?

    1) "For the price of a modest meal, you can own The History of Rome" Carl Sagan Human beings have an almost uncontrollable urge to record anything and everything. To me, it is one of our most important qualities as a species, as it means we will always have some idea of who we were, and where we are going. 2) In my regular camping backpack, which would presumably double as my BOB in the case of SHTF, I carry several books. A survival guide, plant guide for North America, several different maps, as well as several books I keep for recreation. I'm telling you, nothing is better at the end of a long day, when the rain is sheeting down outside your shelter, to pull out a book and polish off a few chapters. 3) In game, no, I have more efficient uses of my time. But I do carry books as a form of roleplay.

    WTF are with the Books?

In the event of a long-term, total-collapse-of-society situation, it is thought that books would be some of the most important things to save. They are the records of our past, in the forms of cultural works, and the key to our future, in the form of technical manuals. How do you think you will be maintaining your vehicle, without the manual? Properly use a generator? Plan crop rotation, etc.....

Will my character save if I wipe my computer?

Howabout buying a new computer? I am planning on buying an actual PC soon, to use instead of my laptop, and can I use Steam to transfer all of my game files to the new computer?
  22. Part of the reason those two mental disabilities are such more common nowadays is that they are understood much better than they are 50, hell, even 20 or 10 years ago. The rates aren't rising per se, just the rates to diagnosis, due to a greater understanding of the symptoms and causes. Plus, childhood obesity is partially caused by a lack of healthy food options, at least for much of America. In urban and suburban areas, healthy "organic" food is far, far more expensive than cheaper shit stuffed with fillers, preservatives, and salt. This, coupled with a lack of excessive due to helicopter parenting and "stranger danger" fears, leads to higher rates of obesity, amongst both children and adults.

And the USSR won because of the US Lend-Lease Program. We shipped about $11 BILLION worth of war materials to the USSR America didn't win WW2 all by itself, however, the war probably would've been a hell of a lot shorter if we didn't ship supplies worldwide.

What makes a cowboy hat so different from a trilby, or any style of hat? Is it the association with the US, and nationalism, that makes people dislike it so? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be caught dead in a cowboy hat, but that is because I don't like how they look. I wear a Montana-style campaign hat for functionality, which, coincidentally, cowboy-style hats are usually worn for.
