Go to the forest of trees

What are you talking about? Also, sure thing, Mr. Forum Police, sir

Go to the forest of trees

That time was "eyeballed", if you will, and could include wood-gathering (whenever my troop goes camping, firewood duty is a 24/7 detail), shelter building/upkeep, cooking, resting, etc etc. I am not saying it should take 10 hours of real life time to accomplish said activities, just a significant amount of time, as a nod to realism. Plus, there would always be the option of not doing these things, if you just want to run around and gank people, with the result that you will be less effective than someone who is properly prepared.

Go to the forest of trees

Damn straight. All of those activities should realistically take a good deal of time, to the point where it might be reality where you sit in camp for a couple of real-life hours maintaining your weapons and gear. Don't want to do weapon maintenance (dis-assembly, cleaning, sighting, zeroing, etc)? Suffer from inaccuracy and unreliability (firearm jams, lowered melee weapon damage, etc) Don't want to maintain your gear? Watch as your clothes have lower protective/capacity qualities, backpacks lose gear from holes and broken zippers, and binos/compassesetc get worn out, scratched and useless. Don't want to spend the time to cook a healthy, hearty meal, and eat junk food and soda instead? Exhibit a depressed immune system, lower energy levels, etc. I want survival to be hard, not just "open backpack, drink soda, instantly use sewing kit on pants, etc". You should try to SURVIVE, not just live....

I just have to ask; what the hell is your picture about? Leeks? Attractive redheads? I am....conflicted.

    Spawning of guns

I too believe that you should spawn into the map (preferably when new), with at least one of the new items the devs want us to play about with (ie. test)........ ON THE EXPERIMENTAL SERVERS ONLY Having us find the shit in order to test it is illogical and really, a rather inefficient way to test new items. Have them spawn into the world as normal, to test their spawning abilities, but let us try the damn things out, so we don't have the next next-to-useless sawed-off shotgun on the stable branch. Also, I agree to above that you should find ammunition near a weapon.

    breaking legs to grief

Ah, no, I didn't start the topic and call it as such. Lrn2read before you get all snarky.
  9. Whyherro123

    breaking legs to grief

Certain people in-game will break other people's legs, so they have to crawl everywhere, then leave them there as a form of asshole-ery. It is to make them mad, while the leg-breakers get a kick out of other people's aggravation.

I HATE playing 3rd person servers.

For one, my head in real life doesn't bobble back and forth like it is attached to a spring. I can also rotate my eyes in their sockets, giving me close to 270 degrees of vision. In 1pp, it feels like your eyes are stuck facing forward, while you just turn your head. If I zoom in all the way on 3pp, I can at least pretend i am moving my eyes to justify the expanded view.
  13. Whyherro123

I HATE playing 3rd person servers.

My main reason for playing on 3pp right now is the fact that I've got a shitty laptop that has truly horrid FPS drops whenever I look close to the horizon (probably a loss in framerate from trying to draw so much stuff, I suppose). On 3pp servers, I just look at a 45 degree angle to the ground, and I can squeeze a decent framerate out of my laptop. On 1pp, I just can't do that, my FOV is too low to make my playtime in any sort valuable. Once I get a new PC, I'll most likely switch over to 1pp. But right now, I just can't play on 1pp servers

Keeping it dapper in the countryside

I have a question: why are there no belt holsters for a sidearm? I just want to be able to carry a revolver on my hip! :(
  15. Whyherro123

    Throwing knives

Have you ever thrown a knife? It is hard enough making it stick, much less causing enough damage to incapacitate someone. Use a javelin instead, if you've got to throw something. Simple as fuck, and can be used as a melee weapon if they get too close. Or, you could use a gun instead, which was what the rest of the world did back in the 1600's, because bows/crossbows, throwing knives, and javelins didn't have enough "bang for their buck", if you will.

payday 2 M4 and weapons compared to dayz

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Alright boyo, if you are such a badass mothereffer, just answer a few questions for us lowly peasants. I'm sure you have the time in between being a top-notch surgeon, running your hospital, shooting at the range, and posting on the Day Z forums 1) please list your degree credentials. Degree, University, year, thesis, etc. Not difficult 2) What hospital do you own/operate? Again, easy to research 3) What medical journals do you write for? A necessary part of the field, for one held in such esteem. A link to one of your articles would be wonderful. 4) When and where did you win this lottery? This should be all over the news, btw.
  18. Whyherro123

I HATE playing 3rd person servers.

how the hell is 1pp more realistic? It's like having a set of blinkers on. Granted, 3pp isn't much better, but at least you can see.

payday 2 M4 and weapons compared to dayz

People need to stop confusing the M4 and M16. M16: full-sized rifle. Used by National Guard and some US Army units. M4: carbine, used by most Regular US Army units, has 3rnd burst capability. M4A1: carbine, capable of fully automatic fire. AFAIK, issued to Special Forces, special Infantry, etc, but will (starting in 2014) be replacing the M4 and M16. Sorry, it is just aggravating.
  20. Whyherro123

Pistols too inaccurate as well as m4?!

The M4 sprays bullets like a drunk hobo taking a piss, while the Mosin-Nagant is capable of making in-game shots fully 2-3x more accurately than the real-life rifle is. Stupid game mechanics detract from realism, and I'm sure for many players, fun. But, I am sure we all need some wool-fucking coats and driving caps, while the M4 and Mosin have been fucked up since December...

It's too easy to get guns

Where are you all getting the figure that the Z-Apocalypse happened 5 years ago? If that figure is true, then either: 1) We should have all starved to death in-game a long time ago, as there appears to be no agriculture going on 2) Civilization would have restarted a long time ago In my honest opinion, that timeframe is stupid. In it's current state, Day Z looks to be happening at the end of the great die-off, the "starting stage" of the collapse of civilization. There is no agriculture, no new towns banding together, etc. It hasn't been 5 years; civilization doesn't work that way
  22. Yeah I had that happen once. Took a bullet to the chest, then shrugged it off like a boss. Checked my pack later on, everything except for the book was fine. Apparently Charles Darwin and I are bros.

    RAIN!

How so? Chernarus looks to have a temperate oceanic climate, probably the most hospitable to human beings on the planet (with the exception of tropical and chaparral environments), and the one that has seen literally the highest levels of inhabitation and development in the history of human civilization. In terms of survival, temperate ecosystems tend to have a large number of plant and animals, that tend to be broadly similar across the ecocline. Of course, you should know the plants and animals of the region before attempting to eat it, but you would be able to recognize a deer or rabbit from Asia as, well, a deer, not one of those fuckweird animals from Australia. As for survival in Chernarus, it shouldn't be that difficult, relatively. There are plenty of water sources (including perfectly safe well systems), a stable and relatively forgiving weather pattern (including temperature), plenty of agricultural fields that should be scavange-able, and, in all seriousness, there just plain isn't a lot of wilderness. You will come across a road eventually, which is similar to the situation we have in New England. Pick a direction, you will come across some sign of human habitation surely enough.

    RAIN!

In a survival situation, everything has to be judged on a risk vs reward basis. EXAMPLE: If i go out in this rain, how much energy will i expend (through movement, metabolic process, homeostasis, etc), and what will I gain? If you aren't going for life-or-death loot, like medicine, it probably isn't worth the expenditure. And, let it be known, no piece of clothing is "waterproof" no matter what the advertisements say! If you go out in the rain, you are going to get wet, if not through direct exposure, then from perspiration due to crap-tastic rain gear. In almost every situation, going out in inclement weather is not worth it. We invented houses for a reason, after all : P
  25. Whyherro123

    RAIN!

Exactly. Human beings aren't totally kill-tastic monsters all the time, especially when there is a benefit to cooperating. It is just in this game where people go about stroking their assault-rifle-shaped erections constantly.
