Do you want pooping in this game?

In my opinion, and in my experiences, drinking untreated water is not worth the risk. And, why should fire-starting require certain items, if shitting is going to be put in game for a "realism" aspect? Come on, now. You can't give with one hand then take away with the other... Finally, if you are that far along with regards to dehydration, you have done something wrong, as in "gone three days without drinking or eating wet food" wrong. Your body has enough water stores to last for 3 days of exertion without resupply, before you are at serious risk of dehydration sickness. if you can't find/treat water before then, you probably aren't going to find any.

Notably, I don't agree with that either. Griefing is anathema to me. I just don't get any pleasure out of someone else'es suffering.

Do you want pooping in this game?

In what situation would drinking take precedence? If you don't have the 15 minutes it takes to build a fire and boil water at sea level, then don't drink. If you are being chased by a zombie, you obviously don't have time to drink, and stopping to sip from a pond or fountain is foolish at best and stupid at worst. And, I am referring to other means of water treatment as well, some of which take far longer than boiling to be effective. For example, take purification tablets. They aren't instantaneous; they take at least 30 minutes to start being effective, and in cold temps/higher altitudes, take upwards to 2 hours. Which is why purification tabs are my backup to my backup, because they take so long. I can treat enough water for a day of activity in about 20 minutes, most times less, by boiling then filtering. I'm just saying, if there is something, anything else more pressing than drinking at that moment, you don't need it enough. Any shmuck can build a fire, even by rubbing 2 sticks together.

Again, even if it was stored, why would you just drink the water straight? I just don't understand that. I treat all the water I drink in the wild twice, because I don't want to die with my pants about my ankles, covered in liquid death from the waist down. Take the 10 minutes and boil all drinking water. If you don't have 10 minutes, you don't need to drink that badly. Simple.

I know, which is why I don't want there to be actual shit in-game. Maybe the diseases you get from drinking untreated water could be from fecal e.coli bacteria, but don't actually have shit present. there is simply too much potential for abuse.

I know you state you haven't gotten sick. But, I want to remind you that you haven't gotten sick YET. You shouldn't drink from a natural, untreated source at all, even if it looks perfectly clear. Giardia is literally the shittiest thing to have ever. You can get it from appearly-perfect water. I can't stress enough, people who drink untreated water in the wilderness are living on borrowed time. It is a statistical certainty that, based on how much water a person needs to drink to survive, drinking untreated water will result in some sort of illness, even if it just indigestion. Even some tabs and filters don't kill everything. Boil, then filter your water to be 100% sure it is safe to drink.

Do you want pooping in this game?

I have an issue with whoever said shit should infect water sources. I cannot, in my right mind, willingly believe ANYONE, survival training or not, would shit in, near, or around any water source. If they were that stupid, how did they survive that long. As for contaminating other's water supplies, that is why you boil the fuck out of any liquid you put in your mouth, just to be sure. You don't just drink from the stream, that is practically begging for death. I just don't see any practical use. No "worthwhile" practical use, that is.

Do you want pooping in this game?

Hell no. They could "model" diarrhea by having you fall unconscious, then waking up a few minutes later, finding out you just lost a massive amount of water. Have it go on for a few hours, too, to make it the killer it is in a wilderness survival situation. That sounds like a good idea. But, having a conscious and active shitting activity, with animation and all? Think realistically here. What would it add to the game? And what do you think would be both the first and most prominent usage of said animation? -Sigh-

    Thread in defense of banditry

Nothing wrong with banditry, but don't try to justify it saying "resources are scarce". Like hell they are! You can get fully geared up within 2 hours if you know what you are doing. Resources aren't "scarce"....they are just "scarce" where everyone and their zombified mother is -cough,cough-COAST-cough-
  10. Yep, pretty much. Arrows, bolts, and other subsonic projectiles effectively "cut" a hole in flesh. Supersonic (hell, not necessarily supersonic. A musket ball has relatively low velocity (1100-1200 ft/s with 120 grains of propellant), and it will still turn you into mince when it hits) liquefy flesh, due to the forces involved.

One handed bladed weapons ( Knives ), Too weak?

If you want a OHK to the skull, use a regular carpenter's hammer. Seriously. A hammer would be the best H2H weapon in the zombie apocalypse. No edges to sharpen, you can't break it, and you can use it for different things. Genius.

    Cigarettes ?

That isn't how nicotine works, at least with someone who isn't addicted to it. Nicotine calms Snake down because he is addicted to it, thusly, he needs a "fix" unless he goes into withdrawals. If he didn't smoke, he would get more and more jittery. Take a look at any cigarette addict in real life. If refused a smoke for an appreciable length of time, they get jittery as a motherfucker. Nicotine and Caffiene have ROUGHLY the same effects on the human body, both being stimulants. A stimulant will not "calm you down", but perk you up, which is why it is a bad idea to mix a stimulant and a deppressant, like coffee and alcohol, or energy drinks and alcohol. PSA ALERT Bad idea, you could die if you do this too much.

One handed bladed weapons ( Knives ), Too weak?

Why? The tip would break off too easily, it looks like. You know, as an aside, and nothing personal, we have this problem every year at the Scout camp I work at. Kids bring in these fuckmassive "military" (cough, cough, no they aren't. Chinese plastic covered SEAL TEAM SIX knives for $13 from Walmart, does not a military knife make). They think they are badass, and that I will be impressed, when they show me these. I sigh, pull out my KA-BAR (which I paid $90 for), and tell them exactly how many times I've used it (twice, and it has since been regulated to the shoulder strap on my bag) I try to tell them how to properly use, care for, and, most importantly, what NOT to do with these knives. Of course, they disregard me, and proceed to go and try to chop down trees/throw their knives into trees/chop firewood, and then come bitching to me about how the point broke/tang snapped/rotator bolt sheared/edge grind is ruined. I tell them a very useful bit of info " Don't mistreat your knives, and they will not mistreat you. Every tool has a purpose, and if you try to use a tool for something it isn't purposed for, it will probably/eventually break". Out in the woods, I carry 3 tools on me. They are: -Good multitool: for "small" things -Mora sheath knife: for "medium" things -Tomahawk: for "big" things You don't "mix and match" purposes, because then something gets broken, and you are out of a tool....

One handed bladed weapons ( Knives ), Too weak?

I...what? I know knives cannot be mounted on rifles as of yet. I was talking about the forces involved. Mounting a knife as a bayonet lets you use more force (two hands, more efficient motion, longer range/higher velocity, etc), causing more damage. Take a look at the combat knives used by the majority of modern forces nowadays. There is no difference between a "combat knife" and a "bayonet", they are literally the same knife. Handheld, it is a combat knife, mounted on the rifle, it is a bayonet. Also, the width of the blade has little to no effect on the damage it will do, because you are going to stab with it in almost every circumstance. In that case, longer (for a certain case of longer) is better, as it would let you hit the vitals more effectively. Finally, show me a combat knife that is dual-edged, and I will show you a overspecialized knife, cripplingly so. Most knives designed for combat, with the exception of certain commando knives from WW1 and 2, are single-edged for rigidity, strength, and utility.

One handed bladed weapons ( Knives ), Too weak?

Why should a bayonet take more hits to kill? You can apply much more force with a bayonet than you can with a knife-in-the-hand. Realistically, as someone who is trained in knife combat, you would want to use a longer blunt weapon (like a hammer) instead of a knife if you had the chance. The actions with a blunt weapon are more instinctual, and can deal as much/more damage than a comparative knife wound. Real knife vs knife CQC involves a mixture of knifework, footwork, hand-to-hand, and grappling. Plus, you would be better off stabbing someone instead of slashing them. The stab has a greater chance of causing internal bleeding and organ damage than a slash, which are mainly for keeping the enemy off-balance and for weakening them via superficial cuts. Finally, you want to hold your knife using the "icepick" method, rather than the "hammer" method (look them up). Using the icepick, you can stab with much greater force, and target vital areas (the neck and upper torso) much easier than the hammergrip, which targets the stomach instead. Look up MCMAP pdfs online for a sense of what I am talking about.

    APPROACHING CRITICAL MASS!
  21. You are deliberately underpowering the bullet in this instance to make your knife look better by comparison. A .22LR has MUCH MUCH less powder than a .223/5.56mm, anybody who knows anything about firearms knows that. Shoot yourself in the foot with a 5.56mm, you are liable to lose the foot. Stab yourself, you will have a neat hole that, depending on what it hit as the blade went through, could require only stitches and bed rest to recover from. lrn2debate, please

    Player Controlled Currency System?

It really isn't. No means of testing the quality, except for using it, which means you would be literally burning your money. Gunpowder, on the other hand.... Also, what if they don't have ammunition in your caliber? At least with loose gunpowder, you can load your own. Same with lead.
