    I wanna eat u

BUT. FOOD. ISN'T. SCARCE. Do you see how many farms there are in Chernarus? How many garden plots? How many orchards? Do you know how much food is available in the wilderness? How many animals are available to hunt? Food is "scarce" (HAHAHA no it isn't. Even without including canned food, there are plenty of animals and vegetables to eat) right now because the Devs haven't implemented horticulture, nor can you pick the vegetables growing in gardens, nor can you forage for nuts and other plants in the wilderness. It is Autumn, AKA, when almost all of the plants and trees are ready to harvest/putting out seeds. Potatoes, corn, beans, pumpkins/squash, acorns, hazelnuts, lilypad tubers, etc ARE ALL READY FOR THE PICKING. Animals are out and about breeding, and are very active, AKA TIME TO HUNT THEM. All of these things are either already in, or planned to be implemented. Cannibalism.will.not.be.necessary.

Anyone excited for the .357 Lever action?

Aww... I had hoped it would have held 11+1 rounds, to make logistics easier......

    I wanna eat u

You didn't really answer my question, except for BECAUZZZZZEE!!!!111!!!! In real life, in almost all recorded instances of "cannibalism for survival", it was the last resort. In more modern times, the survivors that took part in cannibalism volunteered for therapy because of it. Cannibalism is bad for you, the "prey" is most certainly going to fight back (more effectively than a deer or a rabbit. Last I checked, they couldn't shoot back), and ultimately, it isn't necessary. So, again, WHY?
  4. Whyherro123

    I wanna eat u

Why? There is more than enough food to go around. This isn't even including the food that should logically be available, in the form of crops and foraged plants. Also, animals should provide more meat. If you do some research, almost all of the recorded instances of cannibalism (that weren't due to mental illness or drug use) occurred during the winter, when there wasn't other sources of food available. We aren't at that point yet. Not even including the fact that eating someone should have a serious effect on your mental health.

Etiquette around people sitting by a fire?

When that is removed, you (and players like you) are going to be SOL. And I will laugh.

Anyone excited for the .357 Lever action?

The GINORMOUS one is a .45-70 revolver, probably a Magnum Research BFR (stands for "Biggest Finest Revolver", but I like the "Biggest Fucking Revolver" epithet) The little one is apparently a .22. Also to note, they are not my pictures, I snagged them off a gun forum....

Anyone excited for the .357 Lever action?

Ahh.... the Walker is a cap-and-ball revolver, so it doesn't take actual metallic cartridges. You hand-load black powder and a bullet, press it into the chamber using the lever under the barrel, and fire it after placing a percussion cap on a nipple on the back of the cylinder. The entire loading process for one cylinder can take upwards of 5 minutes. They are a good gun ( with big enough BOOM to kill rider and horse in one shot, and capable of cracking skulls if swung by the barrel), but not really all that useful for Day Z. As far as I know, cap-lock muzzleoaders are really only all that common in the US, especially revolvers.

Is DayZ really set in fictional Ukraine?

For fucks sakes, people. All it takes is a 2 second Google search, and you will learn that all of you are right, and all of you are wrong. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Chernarus http://imgur.com/9xT3vGQ The actual geography and topography of Chernarus are based on the Czech republic. The Government is based on post-Soviet Republic, and it is located on the Green Sea, a stand-in for the Black/Caspian Seas. There was a signifigant Russian minority in the northern part of South Zagoria, the province that ARMA II and Day Z takes place in. The official language of Chernarus is Russian. It isn't a fictional version of the Ukraine, or of Russia, or the Czech Repulic. It is a fictional, entirely-made-up nationstate partially, but not totally, based on these and a conglomeration of other Soviet and post-Soviet states. And I never even played ARMA II. This is with a 2 second Google search.

Why not? Prefer an M4 or an AK? (snicker)

Anyone excited for the .357 Lever action?

Yessir! I hate HATE HATE how you can instantaneously "top off" empty magazines with loose rounds. It should take, at the very least, a couple of seconds, to do this, if not longer. How long do you think ti would take for you to manually insert 30 rounds into a spring-loaded magazine, without the help of a spring compressor (those things make it really easy.)? Making "reloading" magazines take an "appreciable" (insert time of choice here. I prefer a minute per magazine, and I believe that is rather low. Anybody with actual experience, let me know about how long ti would take) would have an amazing effect on both tactical thinking and strategy. Do you run after that guy with only a few rounds left in the magazine, or do you take the time to top off the mag, just in case he has friends?

Anyone excited for the .357 Lever action?

In my opinion, almost very weapon aside from assault rifles and automatic pistols has not yet received enough love. I can only wait until jamming, weapon cleaning and maintenance is implemented.
  13. New England is on a similar latitude, with roughly analogous terrain, ecosystems, and geophysical figures (seas, coastlines, mountains, etc). Hell, even the same crops are grown in Chernarus as in New England! They are so analogous, that is why I am able to compare the two. It is so similar, in fact, if the signs weren't in Cyrillic, and if I didn't know otherwise, I would've placed the game on the northern Maine seacoast.

It was, originally. There are smokeless versions available.

Do you want pooping in this game?

No, what I am saying is that excessive defecation is unrealistic in a survival situation. "Stress" ins't just a physical thing, being tired. It is a psychological, mental thing. Just because someone has made a fire and is sitting by it doesn't mean they relaxed. They could be (and should be) thinking ahead: where am I going to move tomorrow? Do I have enough water? I need more ammunition. Man, I hope those zombie-things don't come in the night when I am asleep. I hope nobody can see this fire from the road....... BOOM, stress! And it doesn't only affect the digestive system: literally your whole body is affected: wounds take longer to heal, you suffer from headaches and your decision-making skills are impacted, your immune system is compromised, you have trouble sleeping (which adds to stress).Everything. Plus, where are these people going to get their stockpiles of food from? Eventually, they are going to have to go to town to get more. And if you stash food in a camp, it sure as hell better be ripped apart by animals while you are away. And mate, EVERYONE's playing style has a lot of running at this point, what with no vehicles and all. When vehicles are added, they will either require muscle power (physical fatigue, AKA stress) or fuel, which hopefully will be "little and far between".

Do you want pooping in this game?

You obviously are not understanding my point.

Do you want pooping in this game?

Day Z.... isn't a survival situation? Mate....survival isn't just "food and shelter and shit". Re-read what I stated above. STRESS. Les Stroud isn't stressed (or, a lot, at least), because he knows if the shit hits the fan, a helicopter would swing by to pick him up ( do you honestly think the network would let their "baby" die?). You would definitely be under stress if you had to hike 10 kilometers a day, on little more than a cold can of beans, fighting off your infected neighbors all the way. And, what do you think would happen when the Devs severely lessen food spawns, as they have said they were going to do, and from what I have read, has already started happening in .50 Experimental? Subsiding off of foraged vegetables (AKA high in fiber), or when standing water becomes dangerous to drink straight? Case in point: I've been on a backpacking trip for 10 days. I had plenty of water, and enough food so that I was never hungry. Guess how many times I shat in those 10 days? TWICE. I urinated far, FAR more times than I defecated. (which, I would not want implemented either. It is already abstracted enough through game mechanics)

Dayz SA not realistic at all.

Explain the fruit then. Or the lack of overgrown lawns, perfectly painted buildings, unbroken fences, etc. Just because a car is rusty, doesn't mean it has been sitting there for several years.
  19. Whyherro123

Do you want pooping in this game?

Jesus Christ, guys, it is almost like nobody has ever actually been on a long backpacking trip. When your body is under stress ( AKA long hours of hiking, running for your life, living off of low levels of food, dehydrated, etc), it suppresses the need for defecation, in order to both extract more water/nutrients from the waste, and to avoid losing water through defecation. You might be stupid, but your body isn't. Go out into the woods, and don't eat/drink anything for a few days, or subside off of plant matter you find. Tell me how many times you poop, and, when you come back to civilization, tell me just what it felt like when you did relieve yourself. When all the water is extracted from fecal matter in the large intestine, you will feel like you are passing a life-sized statue of the Crucifixion. AKA, unless you drink some bad water (and if you do, you deserve to die), you will most likely not be pooping all that often. Finally, again, just what the hell is with this focus on pooping yourself?! I am ever so slightly concerned.....
  20. Mate, I live in an urban section of New England, and the roads around here are fucking awful. Ever hear of "frost heaves"? Asphalt roads get DESTROYED quickly by the environment if there isn't maintenance done regularly, and Chernarus seems poor-er than my city. Also, don't forget; in cities, the degradation of infrastructure would happen EXTREMELY fast due to the flooding of sewer systems (without electricity, the pumps would fail. Realistically, Novo should be under water), and the subsequent collapse of water mains. Also, powerlines are not made of titanium. Around here, all you need is a good windstorm (not even downed trees, necessarily) and you can get lines ripped from the poles. Finally, 10 minutes down my street, and you are surrounded by farms, Deliverance-style. They have a SHIT-TON of rusting equipment (scrap metal, cars, tractors) littering the yard. Come to think of it, some of the places by me look far worse than Chernarus, and we haven't had a zombie apocalypse!
  21. Whyherro123

Dayz SA not realistic at all.

If you understood just how long it takes for vegetation to both grow and rot, you would, in fact, realize it is impossible for it to have been longer than a week since the SHTF. Case in point: abundance of fresh produce (also, produce that we can't see grown in gardens), especially vegetables and fruit that are especially high in water, like tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, kiwi, etc. These things would rot faster than others. Plus, there is tropical fruit in (relative) abundance. These fruits would not grow in Chernarus at all, and especially not during the time of year where Day Z takes place (mid-Autumn) Therefore, it stands to reason that they were shipped in, which, in turn, means that intercontinental trade must have occurred very recently. In my house in New England (which is literally the same environment [Temperate Deciduous Forest], latitude, and regional conditions [ climate moderated by large bodies of water, etc]), I can't keep a bunch of bananas "good" for longer than a week, maybe two if I put them in the fridge. As there is no working refrigerators currently in Chernarus, it means these bananas came in less than a week ago.
  22. Whyherro123

Do you want pooping in this game?

Incorrect. Biological organisms and viruses get killed in water of a certain temperature. It doesn't even have to be boiling; the boiling just lets you know everything in there is dead. The boiling, however, will not "remove" chemical contaminants, which might be what you are referring to. That is why you filter drinking water after you boil it, just to be sure. And, with regards to your second sentence, they are literally the exact same thing.

What Is Your Favorite Current Food In Game?

Nope, only if you eat the brain and certain intestines. The rest of the body is "fair game".

I...I am sorry, but is this how some British people actually talk? Cause this is so stereotypically funny, my stomach hurts. And you guys across the pond give us Americans shit for "butchering the tongue".....
