Quoting yourself isn't proof. It just....isn't. What IS proof, however, is numerical examples: polls, graphs, data, all the suggests that the majority of the playerbase doesn't want complexity, doesn't want survival, and instead wants a basic 24/7 PvP-fest And, the burden of proof isn't on me, because I am not trying to actively prove something. You, however, are.

Back to topic, I just examined my combat boots, and the sole was peeling off one of them. I only wear them on campouts and hikes, so everyday usage is not applicable. So, combat boots aren't invulnerable to wear and tear either.

PAHAHAHAAHAHA. Pretty much no-one here is believing a word you say. Either back your claims with proof, or stop wasting our time.

And yet, there are posts here on this forum clamoring for MORE COMPLEXITY, MORE REALISM. The game itself is already fun AND popular, boyo, as evidenced by it's sales figures. Methinks you go a bit too overboard, yourself. What you want is not what the community wants.
  7. For those of you saying that a "primitive-style" bow and arrow wouldn't be able to effectively kill someone, watch this video. The bow is as "primitive" as it gets, being a direct copy of a Neolithic bow found in Britain. It has a realtively lightweight draw (from what I can figure), and the presenter is only using about half of the potential of the bow, yet it drives a stone-tipped arrow through the ribs of a pig carcass from 30 meters away.

Not essential... in your opinion. You seem to have problems getting this through your head: you don't represent the playerbase. Hell, you likely don't represent the majority of the playerbase! In my opinion (and apparently, the opinion of some of the most veteran forum members), we want a survival game. Essential to that is diseases, infections, and degradation of equipment.
  9. Uh, what? It happens after ARMA II, AKA 2009-2012. So, pretty recently. What do you mean by "classic cars and weapons and other old stuff"? The only "old" weapons are the 91/30 Mosin Nagant and the IZH-42 shotgun. The cars are all post-Soviet POS, and none of the other weapons are really that old.

It isn't "in depth". It is an essential part of survival. And, I never played the mod. I literally "heard" about the game, and it was described as a survival game.

Lock picking from a lockpicking hobbyist

If anything, I would like to see the "Fallout 3" style lockicking implemented. That was cool.

Uh, yeah? That would be the extreme end of what should occur, but yes, an infection is SERIOUS BUSINESS in a survival situation. Does......does that surprise you? Worst part is, in an actual survival situation, infected wounds are all but guaranteed to occur (happen to me all the time, especially on the legs, hands and feet [briar patches suck, coincidentally]). You literally cannot keep wounds sterile 24/7, and eventually they will be contaminated. And this is when you have Triple-A ointment, disinfectant wipes, and medical attention back home! And no, the oral antibiotics currently in-game won't do jack shit to a "real" infection. You need IV-antibiotics, and actual medical attention.

Actually, I heard of Day Z as that "survival game set in the Zombie Apocalypse", not as " that PvP game where people going around griefing, with some mildly-associated zombies and survival for flavor." Again, speak for yourself, not the entire playerbase.

    Newspawns asking to get killed

Bahahahahaha Cry about your spawn some more, then "actually" play the game. The game is in the "total" experience, not only in how fast you can get into PvP.

Speak for yourself, boyo. I want a survival game, not a "pick up the closest blunt object and go PK-ing" game. Deterioration of equipment is a part of survival. From what I have read on this forum, a lot of players agree with me. At least, the ones that are mature and can actually plan ahead instead of just using their forebrains.

    wtf instant death?

Like....pretty much all of the rest of the game-breaking glitches, as well as the glitches that come about due to the implementation of new "stuff"? Bugfixes happen during Beta. We are "technically" supposed to be finding all the glitches now, in Alpha.

    wtf instant death?

Glitch of some sort. Normally, I dislike the phrase, but ALPHA. The Devs have far more important things to fix.

    Yep.

    Newspawns asking to get killed

YES It takes "only" 30 minutes to run from one corner of the map to the other. Mabye 35-40, if you stop to look for clothing. If you can't take 30 minutes to play the game, then why exactly are you needed so desperately by your friends? In my clan, all of our ops take at least an hour to do (get into position, move from cover to cover, set up overwatches, etc). I've died during an OP at the NWAF, spawned at Cherno, and ran all the way back to join the op again. I didn't miss all that much. Took gear off the dead bodies, and was back and "ready to go" within 5 minutes of running back. On a Friday night, what is 35 minutes to me, when I have already been playing for 2+ hours? People crying about "bad" spawns is hilarious.

Lock picking from a lockpicking hobbyist

Pretty much. The only time I would be picking any locks is when I would want to lock the door again when I was done.

Annnnd that is why I have a collapsible toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste in my survival kit, alongside hand sanitizer, sani-napkins, and other personal hygiene supplies. Personal hygiene is important, kids. ESPECIALLY in a survival situation.

Lock picking from a lockpicking hobbyist

Pretty much. Take one of these, insert the pry bar in the jam next to the lock. Kick it until the lock breaks (I've done it, with the hatchet none the worse for wear. It is a solid piece of steel, not gonna break.) Or, apply the pry bar directly to the hinge, kick until open. Screw wasting time picking locks.

Why do the majority of players i encounter suck?

You aren't going to get much sympathy here, unfortunately. I agree with you, for what it is worth. The reason (One of them, in all seriousness) KoS-knucklefuckery is do prevalent right now is because there is little else to do. 1) Survival is bare-bones squared right now. Once you get a rain-jacket, you are effectively "all set" (which shouldn't be the case) 2) There are, IMHO, too many weapons, and too much of a focus on negative player-player interaction. Give a man a fish, and he will scream at you over VOIP and beat you to death with it because of "boredom". Give a player a set of handcuffs, and he will handcuff you and force feed you things. Give a player a box of ammo, and he will hunt down players to kill (because shooting zombies is a "waste of bullets" 3) Zombies are essentially a non-threat. 4) You can server-hop for gear FAR too easily, making "survival" and "loot scarcity" essentially moot. Server hop for a couple of hours, get an AKM and enough magazines to supply an Iraqi militia. 5) Little to no focus on group survival, positive player-player interaction and so forth. No construction, agriculture, industry, trading (NOTE: almost all of these are forthcoming) Check out my content for some of the ideas I had to prompt grouping up, as well as actual ideas behind gear production, and "reasons" for organized PvP.

    Shoes in experimental

For your training, you probably (DEFINITELY) had a pair of shoes that fit correctly, and provided proper padding and support. You also probably "broke in" these shoes first before doing any running in them. I would know: I did varsity Track (X-Country, Indoor and Outdoor), as well as backpacking, hiking, and orienteering. I've broken in PLENTY of shoes, both athletic and outdoors. In Day Z, we don't have that. We pick up a random pair of shoes and throw them on. Are they properly arched? Are they wide enough? In real life, if you wear shoes of the right size, but not of the right arch and width, you will be in agony. I would know: I have perfectly flat feet, which are also very wide. If I wear any shoes other than my own, I pretty much can't walk the next day. Do me a favor; put on a pair of loose, ill-fitting shoes. Then, walk 100m on a sidewalk, then on a rocky path, then through the woods, then up and down hills (make sure your feet are sliding around nice and good inside the shoes). Now do that every day, for the next week. Tell me exactly how you feel after that week. There is reason people learn how to make/sell shoes for specific feet. It isn't for fun. I am all for this. It just has to be.......toned down a bit, like almost every "survival" aspect of the game. I don't want my shoes to fall apart after 5 minutes, but I don't want to be okie-dokie after wearing a random pair of trainers over the hills, through the woods, and down that stream.
