    0.60 V3S too slow

-ahem- DAT ALPHA THO Do you just not understand the point of Alpha? Jesus Christ.
  2. Like, seriously. I love Day Z, and I only have 1000 hours or less. What the hell are you doing for 2200 hours, idling on the main screen? Killing nublets on the coast gets boring eventually, I don't care who you are.

    Updated Kuru

Am I a trend-setter, now? : D Asides from Kuru straight-up not existing anymore in reality, you do realize that eating more human meat makes the "disease" worse, right? Not better? Eating more of a poison doesn't make it less lethal. I blame post-apocalyptic media for the spread of "Kuru". Every cannibal in PA movies has the shakes. In "reality", you don't get Kuru from eating random human meat. You get it from eating the brain/spinal/nervous tissue of someone that already has the disease. Kuru was comparatively uncommon amongst Men in Papau New Guinea because they ate the flesh of deceased relatives. Conversely, it was common among women and children because they ate the brains of the deceased. Considering how the "zombie disease" in Day Z is pretty much canonically a prion disease (mentioned in one of the early reports by Dean Hall) maybe that is what is causing the brain degeneration of cannibals....... except for the little fact that the players are canonically immune to the zombie disease. I FUCKING HATE the cannibalism mechanic in Day Z, and in most "survival games", almost solely for the idea that Kuru somehow magically exists everywhere, and that cannibalism is "necessary" in a survival game. I really wish they would take it out. Let me tell you a little something, Espa. Day Z takes place in a Temperate Deciduous Forest. Temperate Deciduous Forests are some of the most hospitable environments humans can live in. Plenty of food, plenty of water, plenty of shelter. ESPECIALLY during the time of year Day Z takes place in. I blame the devs 100% for implementing cannibalism, where in "reality" there would be plenty of food for hundreds of people, with just a little bit of effort. I have rued the day ever since they implemented it, and never once mentioned things like cattail, acorns or any of the other "survival foods" that would be readily available if Day Z were any way "authentic". It tells me how the devs want the game to go. Cannibalism would not be necessary in Day Z. Cannibalism is not needed in Day Z. Trying to make a "playstyle" (/snerk) out of it is foolish. Want to know what a playstyle is? A farmer, a survivalist, a bandit. Not a cannibal.

Still no love to the survivalists ?

I always thought that loot shouldn't respawn, or, at the very least, decrease in quantity over time. Otherwise, there is no purpose, other than RP, to have hunting/fishing/foraging in the game. Or, canned food would provide much less energy than "made" food, or eating nothing but canned food would cause certain health effects. Eating nothing but beans and spaghetti will cause you to lack vitamins. Scurvy, anyone? If canned food is "better", easier to find and is easier to "access" than other sources of food, people aren't going to use the other sources. We see it right now in-game. Who, asides from the people trying out the mechanics, actually farms, fishes and hunts? Nobody. I am rapidly, and have been for some time, losing faith in Day Z as a "survival game".

    Helicrash SOPs

Have a designated chain of command, and, probably more importantly, a designated chain of communication, helps a lot with this. Specific positions of responsibilities help a lot as well. For example, I am usually the designated "Scout" for my clan. I am usually 5 or so minutes ahead of my clanmates, scouting out terrain and looking for movement. I actually very rarely get into combat, and am usually sitting in a bush with a pair of binoculars. Other than that, we usually have at least a "rear-guard", to provide cover-fire for when the main section goes a-looting, and if we have the guys, a couple fireteams out on the flanks as well. We never cluster around loot or in buildings anymore. A couple guys go in, grab the goods, and we separate it all later. Other than that, chains of command help, because jesus fuck does the phrase "too many chiefs, not enough Indians" applies to Day Z too well. Get more than three people in a channel in TS and the channel will descend into a screaming match.

    Insane DayZ PvP

Can you fucking not jiggle around your camera like a meth'd-eup tweaker who is also on crack?! Jesus fuck. This isn't "insane PvP". This is more "my opponent doesn't know how to split up their attention and fire and spread out in cover to prevent flanking" and " I like to run through the woods and spray-n-pray when I inevitably get surprised by the opponent I knew was in there". This wasn't insane, this was hilarious. Now I know why I can ROFLstomp assault-rifle-equipped Geardos with shotguns easily. No usage of cover, no supporting fire, just HERP A DERP.
  7. Whyherro123

    Fixes and friendliness

You are probably putting the firewood in wrong. Don't throw it directly into the fire. You have to combine it with the initial fuel. Throwing it directly into the fire destroys it. Firearms: then what are you complaining about? Can opener: you probably should. I sharpen my can opener almost every other time I use it. It makes opening cans take much less time and effort.
  8. Whyherro123

    Fixes and friendliness

Fires last longer depending on how much firewood you put in them. Put in a couple of sticks? The fire will burn out in a couple of minutes. Throw in several logs? The fire will last much longer. If you have to reload after every shot with a firearm, that means the firearm is a single-shot firearm. You do realize that you have to press R to work the pump or the bolt of a firearm now, right? The can opener is made from shitty cast-iron. You do realize that you have to sharpen can openers in real life, right? Or, failing that, replace blades every so often?

    No loot in .60

You only get Cholera if you are already fucked up. Apples give both food and "safe" water. I am willing to bet money there is at least one apple tree, with infinite apples, in every settlement, even those without names. Ergo, you have no reason to be getting Cholera, unless you are so incompetent that you can't/won't pick apples for 5 minutes. Of course, I disagree with almost all of the above: 1) Something along the lines of 95-99% of the water spigots all over the map should be removed, or made inoperable. Day Z will never be a "survival game" if water is so criminally easy to get. 2) Cholera, or some other water-borne illness, should be literally a given if you drink untreated water. Making potable water for a single person is pretty simple: boil it, chemically treat it, or run it through a filter, which in turn are easy to make ( take a plastic bottle, cut the top off and jam it inside itself, and layer in some clean powdered charcoal and sand. FIll up the bottle and let the water run through it.)

    No loot in .60

Toploniki and Novaya Petrovka have 2 wells about 5 minutes west in Sinistok, and another about 5 minutes (if that) south, just east of the NWAF Krasnoe has 3 wells about 3 minutes to the west in Stary Yar, or a hop-skip-and-a-jump south in Kamensk Ratnoe is located alongside the major river of the game Polesovo has a well in that nameless village about 3 minutes east. Is Zaprudnoe even a town? It has, like, 2 actual houses. Regardless, the wells for Toploniki and NP apply. Cheranya Polana has numerous wells in Novo, as well as a well about 30 seconds to the south of town. Karmanovka and Dubroe have the wells in Novo, as well as two wells directly to the east in some nameless village Priorgordki is, 2 minutes outside of Cherno, man. Even still, there is a well about 2 minutes away, eastward down the coast. Dubrovka has a well just north of town, in a little settlement. All the rest of the little towns up north are easily within about 5 minutes of the other towns I mentioned. So, yes, you got me. I concede the point. However, you are never more than 5 minutes away from a safe water source on the entire map. The only way you should ever have to drink pond/stream water is if you are so hilariously incompetent that you can't find a road and follow it.
  11. Whyherro123

    No loot in .60

I'll bite. Which towns don't have a water spigot? Likely the newer small towns in the extreme north, but you are within 30 seconds of a larger town with a spigot, so they don't really count.
  12. Whyherro123

    No loot in .60

Seriously? How did you die from thirst? Literally every settlement on the map has a water spigot. Just like something like 99% of all the settlements on the map have apple trees. And berry bushes are everywhere. The only way you should be dying from dehydration/starvation is if you are hilariously incompetent.

    Rain is fps killer

I don't have a problem with FPS drops during the rain, and my desktop is 5+ years old.

Remove fog from the coast on sunny days

Fog can exist on coastlines during sunny days in real life.
  15. Whyherro123

How do some of you justify this game?!

Except, you know, Day Z isn't a Survival Horror game. It is a "survival game", one of the first, and that generally means loot scarcity. PS: there is pleeeennnnttttyyyyyyyyy of loot; food, guns ammo, etc. It is just slightly harder to find compared to earlier versions of the game. Now, instead of running directly to "gun/food houses", you actually have to look for stuff. The horror! https://imgflip.com/readImage?iid=26445440

    Dayz Gold release + Reliability

I would be particularly surprised if Day Z was released in 2016, and I would be extremely disappointed. We are basically already halfway through 2016, and, to be entirely honest, it seems to me like the game isn't even ready for beta, much less a full release. What systems do we have that are completely finished, and are ready for bugtesting? None of them? Hell, certain mechanics haven't been meaningfully touched in months, if not years.

Music in DayZ - Short tracks

Day Z should not have music. It is a post-apocalyptic "realistic" survival game, music would rip immersion away so fast, my head would spin. Sound effects, like the wind rushing through trees, or between buildings, would be great, though.
  18. Whyherro123

    Loot doesn't respawn

    The tears, I love them.

    Constant overheating - ignore?

I mean..... the trees are losing/have lost chlorophyll, pumpkins are large and orange, apples are ready to be picked (and even starting to rot). All the environmental signs point to mid-to-late Autumn. And, of course, it can get hot in Autumn, especially during a sunny day with only light breeze. But, it seems more likely, almost overwhelmingly so, that the weather simulation and environment are not matched up on purpose. If it got as chilly or even downright cold that Autumn can get in hilly country, a lot more people would be dying and a lot more people would be complaining.
  20. Whyherro123

    Constant overheating - ignore?

Is it? I am almost 1000000000% certain that the environment says that it is Autumn..... Maybe the temperatures are all fucked up.
  21. Whyherro123

    climbing trees - predators

What climbing hook? The only "hook" in-game is a hay-baler. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Hay_Hook
  22. I haven't had that much success with knives, actually. Yes, they are good for making people bleed, but, mainly due to the time it takes for someone to actually bleed out in Day Z (fucking forever), I never really got too excited about having to chase people down and preventing them from bandaging I never understood why a sharpened stick did less damage than a spear. I love me some bows, though. People have a tendency to underestimate you, and the bow is an excellent ambush weapon.
  23. I had the same problem, you have to go intl "filters" and uncheck the "passworded" box
  24. First off: I agree. Melee combat is shit, it has been shit, and, unfortunately, it looks like it will remain to be shit. I most-certainly hope I will be wrong, but a couple of patches ago, Brian Hicks all-but-stated that the melee system was done. My main problem with the melee system isn't that it is so poop, it is that 99% of the melee weapons in the game are useless. They either do so little damage, to the point where you would be better off not picking them up and just using your fists, or they are decent, but get overshadowed by the various axes. Axes are the go-to weapon of choice, because the swing arc is so predictable and because it deals some hefty damage. The thing about melee weapons is that they swing in an arc. You have to pay attention to the arc of the swing, and connect the weapon to the target at some point in the arc for it to any damage. It doesn't just deal "hitscan" damage. Which is one reason why axes are so popular, they swing in a diagonal arc, to the point where you can either smash someone in the head, and even if you miss, you are likely to hit something. Other melee animations, like stabs and slashes, are "less effective".
  25. "Way too loud"? What the hell are you talking about? I've killed more people with shotguns and the Blaze than I have with assault rifles. Easily, to a significant level of magnitude.
