Do You Belive Players Who Shot Unarmed And Friendly Fresh Spawns Are Bad?
Wyrmgol replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
It's still complaining about KOS. If nobody was killing fresh spawns, then they can run around nilly-willy with no fear until they gear up which is exactly my point above. You should be playing DAYZ carefully from the get-go. Not carefree until you are a legitimate threat to others. I agree, running up and down the coast wasting fresh spawns isn't fun which is why I don't do that. But if those maniacs want to do just that, there is nothing wrong with it, and their contribution to the early tension is welcome IMO, if not needed. In a real apocalypse you would have maniacs like this exploiting the weak just as we have in society today. The rules of oppression and manner in which it is committed are the only differences. My whole point is that without these maniacs, there is no real fear. I don't think I missed the point, I was just giving examples of my play style. I have no idea what they are getting from doing this but I can recognize what we all get out of their presence. And your last statement is mute as even when you are fully geared, 80% of all engagements start with someone having the drop on someone else and killing them before they even know they were there. If your argument is that a good player is aware of their surroundings then how is that any different from being a fresh spawn? EDIT: The OP is talking about Elektro for god's sake which even going back to the MOD has a history as being an unfriendly place. -

Do You Belive Players Who Shot Unarmed And Friendly Fresh Spawns Are Bad?
Wyrmgol replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I seriously don't understand how people can complain about KOS. It's the reason you are sneaking around in the first place and the only real danger in the game to begin with. The risk of dealing with other players and the chance of losing everything is what provides the atmosphere in this game. It's also the reason you enjoy playing friendly, because without it, friendly would be the only play style and thus nothing memorable. If you got shot, you got outplayed because they saw you first, or they seized the upper hand because you were too trusting. I myself, don't KOS people without guns 98% of the time and about 30% of the time I don't even KOS people WITH guns. I might even attempt to befriend someone with a gun from time to time if I feel like it or if I'm bored and want some company. Sometimes they will KOS me and sometimes we'll play together with nobody back-stabbing each other. But... you better believe that the entire time we are playing together, I am fearful of it and maybe even considering the back-stab myself. That is what makes the game interesting. The tension created when playing with strangers who are one-click away from taking everything you have worked for. The fact of the matter is... There are times when you absolutely should kill a fresh spawn. If you disagree, then you are most likely terrible at this game or just downright naive. Any fresh spawn running around you nilly-willy during a firefight is immediately suspect. They may be someone you just killed in that firefight or just someone looking for a quick kit via the knockout game. Either way... why take the chance? Even if they have no ill-intent, who in their right mind would be running around an ongoing firefight? If the point is to survive, then they are playing terribly, so shooting them is in their best interest as it will aid their own progression and ultimately make them better at the game. The tension you get from DAYZ is a direct result of the KOS risk. Even if the zombies start working better and there are many more of them, the players are, and always will be, the greatest threat to you. It's a survival game and you are competing with everyone. Sometimes you will aid each other and sometimes you will get killed immediately. I'm sure once the game is finished there will be more reason or benefit to aid each other and there won't be AS much KOS as there is right now. But, there will always be KOS in DAYZ and it has nothing to do with player skill. It is a play style and everyone does it at varying frequencies. Even these so called heroes will regularly make excuses to push toward KOS that fits into their play style such as, he wasn't responding, he just shot someone else, he looks like he's up to no good, he moved when I said freeze, etc. Stop deluding yourself. Without KOS, this game would be boring: -You're not hiding behind that wall because you're afraid of zombies. It's because you know most players will shoot you without so much as a howdy-do. -You're not running from tree to tree because you don't want zombies to spot you. It's because you know there is a good chance some ass-hat is on top of that building and ready to blast you from a mile away. -You're not laying down underneath that window because zombies throw rocks. You're doing it because bullets > glass. -You're not having fun playing with that stranger because someone is finally being FRIENDLY and helping you. You are having fun with that stranger because someone is FINALLY being friendly and helping you. Without the fear of KOS you are just running from place to place in straight lines playing a mediocre gathering, eating, drinking, and occasional self aid buddy caring, sim. EDIT: The only real measuring stick between the people that are bad at the game and the ones who aren't is the amount of complaining that takes place when they die. Every death is a learning experience and every time you die you did something wrong. Take responsibility for your mistake, learn from it, and move on. I've died tons of times, mostly to KOS. I have learned something new every time. -

( Not a tutorial)How to get easy long range scope?
Wyrmgol replied to Addex (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I have seen them in the barracks and the military tents (pre broken-tent spawn) only. That being said I have found the PU scope tons of times within garages, the little 1 story red-brick cafe/bar building, and on top of the 3 story, grey, parking garage structure. I just figured the LRS scope will also spawn in these locations. XRann seems to be saying they do. I just never confirmed myself. -

So many times I come across an entire town looted except for the garages... heaven. -

I have two at the moment. Had 1 since before all the tents stopped spawning and got 1 last night off some guy we killed. I'd hate for it to get blasted in my backpack at random so you are welcome to have it. None of my friends like the MOSIN. It is now 4:25 PM where I am and I'm at work. I will be on later at approx 10:30 PM. PM me around this time (10:30 PM my time (central)) with the server you are on and be somewhere near Berenzino and we can work out the details of getting it to you. If you want to find it yourself, others have already explained... garages, industrial, and a few civvy buildings spawn scopes as well. I usually find the PU in all these but I assume they also spawn the LRS. Long rows of garages are my favorite spawns as they are pretty much a 1 stop shop for a chance at anything you could possibly need besides high end guns. Anyway, hit me up if you want it. -
Beans for you because your statement is so true. I take shortcuts on (finger quotes)hardcore(finger quotes) that I wouldn't dare take on regular... running through fields and such. I feel safer on these servers than I do on so called PVE servers.

I play both as well. I would say situational awareness and planning is needed more in regular as your competition has a better view and can see around walls etc. People refering to 1st person as hardcore are deluding themselves. It's a lot easier to run around in 1st person and not be seen by other players due to the restricted view. People aren't being nicer on these servers, they just aren't seeing eachother as much and from as many "gotcha first" angles. 1st person is actually easy-mode. Yes, 3rd person can break immersion. Yes, seeing above and around walls is not logically sound. But this makes the game more difficult, not easier. In regular you have to watch out for someone being behind that distant wall/tree/building and watching you. You are never safe anywhere whereas in 1st person servers, cover actually means something. I can understand you saying seeing around/over walls is boring... but you cannot say unchallenging as every other player has that same ability. So now YOU are being watched over and around every wall. It's fairly obvious that the mode that restricts view the most is going to be more unchallenging as you have less angles and views to worry about. Like I said... I play both for the different feels they provide but regular is by far the most brutal when it comes to other players. I do agree immersion and firefights are more intense and fun on 1st person, which is why I like it.

Same here... they all keep going down every couple minutes.

You can now double-tap while swimming which you couldn't do in the mod. It makes your character do the cross-stroke and move faster. I only swam once so far in SA DAYZ but didn't think it was that slow. Are you saying that even with double-tap it is too slow?

I logged out on top of the boat and am now stuck inside a room with 2 bunk beds and can't get out. I am stuffed, and thus, will take hours to starve to death. Someone please come shoot me in the face! Let me know what server to connect to if you want to help out - Wyrm
