DayZ moving to new engine - ENFUSION

I am excited to see this evolve, I was totally new to the Arma series after finding DayZ SA, so it is interesting to see the flexibility of this engine at work. Personally I say better they take all the time they need to make a superior piece of software, than appease us with updates. To all the anxious individuals who feel BI is lagging ass, I did too for a time but think about it. When you count the minutes and days the week never ends, so lets take a look at the bigger picture. 6 months in, major redevelopment of an entire architecture, changing studio location, expanding team out of country, training new in house teams, developing new projects, implementing new systems and tech from scratch, and oh ya all this while running plenty of servers for both testers and players alike with very little outage. It would appear that this team is kicking ass on many facets simultaneously. Besides now there is Arma 3 and well, DayZ SA? Whats that?

Plan for release of 0.45 to Stable

Our economic Design perhaps. Moor's law applies to all things even space and time it's self, we live in an age of breakneck speeds, time limits, small windows of opportunity, light-speed data. Not many individuals can even awaken in the day without already being late to an appointment, it is imbued in us. Look at Credit card consumerism: "Why wait? Buy now pay later!", Fast food, TV on demand... DSL was the shit, for a minute than T1 and Fiber and there shortly DSL speeds became unbearable. With more capability comes exponentially more demand, therefore it's impossible for the demand to be satiated. It's like that episode of Futurama where Prof. Farnsworth's test tube son sends a contest letter having to wait 2 full seconds for a reply when the envelope guaranteed instantaneous.

    Patch tomorrow ?

I wouldn't expect vehicles or Barricades in Q3 in fact i have the strongest feeling that most everything presented in the road map has probably pushed back a ways, May was not a successfully updated month that means one content release dead line has been missed so far.
  4. Sure it is. See you on the next update. How do you figure? Why exactly should a Zombie stumble slowly? Furthermore if you would like to get into what zombies 'should or shouldn't do' you must consider that the "Living Dead" shouldn't and wouldn't even exist at all, dead heart means bloodless muscles = No movement. But if you take the side of: A Virus that morphs the human form into a cannibalistic almost invincible entity that is more or less dead but indeed still living(need that heartbeat) you then see that Zombies would most certainly sprint because the only way one could survive as the Zombie genre always does; multiple gun shot wounds and delimbing, is to have an extreme amount of adrenalin coursing through your veins.(again heartbeat needed). Therefore the Rage Virus in '28 days Later' that resulted in sprinting Zombies is the most probable and likely zombie scenario to date, and contrary to your statement sir Zombies DO sprint.
  5. Alright here we go day two of surviving and frankly I don't know what so many are complaining about, the new zombies actually make this game intense, at first they seem too hard but hey how have we all been playing lately? I know i gained courage due to the lack of Zeds and just sprinted everywhere. But now that's no longer an option like in real life you must be stealthy to avoid detection. So adjust your game-play and you'll see it really is an improvement, and once you get a fire axe you got no worries the zombies become bumbling harmless children again. Easily dealt with via a bonk to the head. But more realistic!!! It's amusing the Fan-flak for not updating fast enough, and then the fan-flak after updates come!!?? Nothing's good enough for folks. Overall its cool but could use some tweaking as far as endless respawns, path finding and line of sight, to appease those who wish for effortless survival perhaps offer different variants of Zeds like Slow, Medium, Fast or something.
  6. If you have to ask this question than I strongly suggest waiting for a finished product, or at least Beta when it arises. This project does not need anymore angry fan-boys manning the flak guns.
  7. Two pennies for y'all, I am liking the fast zombies and increased spawns for the most part. However, some concerns. Firstly: They are now too smart, or have super vision powers. I'm spotted/followed from a kilometer away through buildings and forest by multiple Zombies, if they are going to be greater in number and faster perhaps make them a little dumber, or more blind. After all their eyes are rotting out and or hemorrhaged. Secondly: Though the extra spawns are much appreciated it feels too automated as if the computer is battling the player by continuously spawning enemies within vicinity, which is cool(minus the continuous part) if done right. For instance one should be able to clear a tiny rural village of Four to Six Zomboids and hold the spot down, in its current state they are just spawning endlessly nearby and chase players away, perhaps a distance limiter could be implemented or something to that degree. Thank your for the changes, digging the intensity now just a lil tweaking.

Dayz in five words or less

    Distractingly Unplayable, Enticing, Chronically Irresistible

    Two primary weapons

HA! I Love it! this is how I envision my self in my post Apocalyptic fantasies! Beans to you Sire.
  10. When the Zombie Apoc really does happen, people like you will not last, expecting everyone to hand you shit. Die already, for the planets sake.
  11. Excellent work Dev team! The Adult testers here are much appreciative!!
  12. They suffer from the instant gratification with summer winter effect complex. even when one gets what they want it still isn't good enough. Just like the Summer and Winter cycles. It' is a prominent affliction here in the United States of America, a disease being spread amongst the world like the Zed virus.
  13. Modular Armor Definitely, Magnifying glass to replace matches, Zippos, Bungee Cords(for traps), and i would very much like to utilize the weapon cleaning kits eventually and actually dissemble the Bolt Carrier Group of the M4 for instance, at least basic take down. http://cdn3.volusion.com/j4enh.r2en5/v/vspfiles/photos/BCM%20Bolt%20Carrier%20Group%20AUTO%20MP-6.jpg?1350634880

    Looting on low population servers

Ultimately you can do whatever you want, go ahead server hop, but you may find it's more of a head ache than it's worth. I suggest (to new players at least) to pick lower population servers in order to become acquainted, not server hop but find safety to get used to the game in order to grasp what it's all about without dying every 3 minutes. Once you know the ropes, get familiar with the map and coastline than it's easier to survive higher pop servers, I am at the stage of dabbling with medium to full servers from fresh spawn stage for a challenge, and because I gradually worked my way into DayZ I didn't get burnt out on all the banditry KOS right of the bat.

Elektro Peace Walk - The Outcome

I love this, and too would enjoy being apart of, I would be happy to offer my services as security if I'm geared or my martyr as a walker if not. Ill keep an eye out for a steam group!

    Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)

It makes sense for sprinting, horseman of ye olden times have recorded trained horses dropping dead from being pushed beyond physical limitation presumably having heart attacks. Full bore Sprinting straight from say Elektro to North East Airfield is roughly 10km (6miles). Although a human body likely couldn't run it's self to death without first passing out (unless stimulated with some sort of substance) this may serve as a temporary game balance at the very least. As far as frame rates until they've added all their new bells and whistles as well as content i wouldn't expect optimization yet.

A console version would kill this game tbh..

We PC gamers are always the ones with the short straw waiting for console releases to reach us. Given that this game began on the PC it would be an erroneous use of resources if they were to try and juggle both console and PC development simultaneously. I say it's the console gamers' turn to wait for this PC title to reach them, in fact there shouldn't be any thought of console development until this is finished, or at the very very least -functioning Beta. Shoot the PC community gave Rocket and Bohemia 24 million dollars, in a record amount of time I'd say that buys development priority, I guess it'll come down to whether Bohemia prefers to make big bucks or provide the complete excellent product to the community that is being promised.
  18. Agreed, the very concept of "living Dead" is impossible, for muscles cannot fill with blood to flex and move without a beating heart so it is quite realistic that shooting the heart would lead to death. However perhaps gut and other shots take longer to die from after all the zombie sickness does enhance the integrity of the human body (quick blood clotting, no pain response what ever your preferred justification) plus until mouse smoothing and acceleration are..well... smooth and accelerated the head is almost not worth a probable miss.

    Ella's standalone guide

.... things that are not working: fireplaces pen&paper rope matches shotgun pellets duct tape cooking rice gas burners burlap sack Walkie talkie (inform me of anything else) glitches/bugs: rubberbanding items take awhile to drop on ground just wait* ladders are suicidal movement of mouse dupe glitch some places have no loot loot spawns in walls players spawn in buildings after rejoining wall glitching (inform me of any others)" -----------------------------------------------------------] Loot: *I've found that replacing the item in the vicinity with your own or sometimes placing your item in the same row as the item in vicinity will instantly transport it, don't know if this helps. Door ways: if your angled (for me at least) my characters shoulders tend to clip stopping me completely, almost like the house scaling is a little small. Audio bliips: Aggro zombie audio every where i go, in the middle of the forest, in an abandon village etc. They never seem to interact with my PC so it is not the invisible zombie bug. Audio blips: Random chewing or drinking sounds again in the middle of nowhere, and Non Populated Zones Mesh particles: (Don't know the proper term) almost like grey wire mesh visible in the branches of the trees. Weird Workarounds(Maybe) FOR DE-SYNC ISSUES (just a workaround) I've found that when my De-sync rises crazily; Stopping, looking down at the ground and NOT INPUTTING ANY DATA (no key strokes, no mouse movements, no commands) will regulate the De-Sync value back to zero i give it a few minutes if I'm safe. I use this when i really can't be logged off, with De-Sync up to 100000 on one occasion -works everytime. Does not work for server resets. This may prove useful for some testers. For rubberbanding I am uncertain and would like feedback but sitting down every few hundred meters may lessen rubber-banding, and in some instances ive rubber banded back to the place i sat down as if it rubberbands back to your last registered location. I'd like to add i keep a close eye on my ping and De-Sync in the Players list granted its delayed and i have had severe rubber-banding with 0 De-Sync before and after. I will be posting a more comprehensive list of bugs in the appropriate place, figured id let you know as well.
  20. This topic is for general discussion about the perma-death system in DayZ SA, as well as potential alternatives, suggestions and Ideas, etc. This is not a 'bitch about bugs' thread Please stay on subject Note: This game is still in very early stages so certain features are not implemented and may result in below mentioned annoyance(s), I must admit, I love this damn game, excellent potential and it really brings together everything I've ever wanted into one world. However, I am concerned about the whole perma-death thing in the long run, its awesome don't get me wrong i love it too, adds so much suspense to the world, in fact i think its a very unique pillar of the game..... but i kinda-sorta-might hate it as well. Like "seriously about to uninstall every-time I die" kind of hatred. I'm afraid of mass loss of interest leading to the premature death of this exciting piece of work, because of excessive repetition. I mean lets think about one's self spending 10+ hours in one day's game walking miles and miles and miles in land on this googolplex sized map , slowly acquiring items, avoiding baddies, Finally getting to a point of survivability and then -dying for whatever reason (reasons irrelevant in this topic) and starting completely over from scratch. Then doing it all over again....and again..and again....and ag-. (Sorry my mind got stuck in a loop there). I don't know......is it going to work long term? Shux... what is there to fulfill folks? People will invest thousands of hours into this game and never surpass (the equivalent of) level 1. But i don't know what else can be done to keep the gritty feel that makes DayZ SA so engaging, like i said not all features are present so it may be perfect once more options of survival are available but perhaps it's time to have a collaborative discussion about this.

Let's talk about Perma Death (No Bug talk)

Indeed I am new and also believe its what makes DayZ, even said so in my post**. HAHA Its funny cause I don't believe I said or suggested anything about getting rid of it, or even that it was bad. I spoke positively about it (minus my sarcastic bit), if anything I meant to imply about adding TO it more so. I'm only bringing forth my concern of future sales not meeting the mark and Bohemia scrapping this project before its done. The mod has lived for a couple years ya, but a standalone GAME needs to appeal to a broader audience and make sales or else it's a project not worth spending resources on in the business world. I personally can handle perma-death, as well as all of you here that's great, this isn't a thread about that, this is about Could perma-death perma-kill DayZ SA before it's finished? I would like to see this stunning, in depth idea in it's finalized state eventually, that is why i bring this up, and that is why i bought this game in it's Alpha phase. To offer a perspective for the further development of the software, so lets all do that, together. ** "....don't get me wrong i love it too, adds so much suspense to the world, in fact i think its a very unique pillar of the game..."
  22. Win for Zombie simulator!! imagine what you really would have felt like, especially when you find his family picture in his wallet.
  23. I must admit I love this damn game, excellent potential and it really brings together everything I've ever wanted into one world. Note: Perhaps when they implement vehicles enabling faster transport it will help lesson the burn of time spent acquiring things to lose.

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113953

I have found that if you swap the item your dropping with an item in the vicinity it will instantly change and show on the floor in most cases.
  25. Just my objective two sense, Leave it alone. It works, and ive been in quite a few First Person only servers and it isn't a biggy. I personally like having the choice of third person no matter how much i do or do not use it. it allows for more immersion in certain instances, This will go for many other individuals as well, theres someting about a third person/first person-toggle game that appeals to people, so even from a businees standpoint leaving in this function = broadening the target audience. As for realism well come on you can't get it perfect I should be able to peek my little eye arond a corner or raise just a smiggen up over a window sill not arrising any suspicion but no, i have to full on lean my shoulder and head around a corner, and stand to see out of a window showing myself. Third person can come in handy for this. A Third person perspective isn't unreal if you relinquish your bias, I'm pretty sure that when one looks around in real life their perception is beyond 360 degree awarness due to eyeball mechanics, neck dexterity and other senses, hearing, smell, Sonar etc. First person cannot capture this, but Third person camera very roughly emulates those mechanics to some degree. So if we have servers for the those firmly set in there ways, and a demand for thirdperson then lets move on down the road..... there might be some food up in that farmhouse.
