Seriously? 1. What makes you think that an Alpha has to become "better" with every iteration? Theres no rule for that. (Two steps forward, one step back, thats how it often works) Leading to 2. What you define as "bad" or "good" depends on your experience with the game and on your (in)ability to cope with this basic version of a future game and is only your personal opinion. So please, don't speak for me. 3. The solution to your problem: Just log off in a safe place. What is the problem about that? 4. And who told you this is the final version of the login/logout mechanics?

Wow, everytime I read a thread starting with " I understand this is still in alpha.... etc. etc." it's someone who doesn't really understand what an alpha actually is. Pro-Tip: Read the Disclaimers, understand them (serious issues.... etc. etc.) and don't post another pointless thread. Please...

WHY ARE YOU KILLING PEOPLE FOR NO REASON? -.-"
JackinatorLP replied to ThreeFailingPros's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah, i don't like being KOS'ed sometimes, but i deal with it. Come on, nobody here can tell me he didn't even once try to KOS... it's a part of this game.. -
I think it is the mix of both playstyles that makes the game worthwhile at the moment. Sometimes when i'm tired of helping others, i get the urge to go to a nice village and stay there for some hours. No problem. Without "lazy, cowardly bitches" this game would be a lot less intense. Just think twice next time before insulting the community kos-style.

this calls for a cynical answer.. but no, not today. Just... get used to it. :)

It works for me if i go into 1st person mode and then select "drink" with the mousewheel. On hardcore this shouldn't be a problem. Concerning loot: Maybe the server was empty because it was ganglooted before you joined(*edit: just kidding*). How long did you search? I for myself have and had no problems finding food, even on 40/40 Servers. It is just a matter of time before you find something, because the amount of loot is way too high regarding the whole map. Theres plenty of almost everything for everyone.

What would you do? My small encounter.

In "Falling Down" Michael Douglas was shot for the same reason. In this situation i think its ok. ;) -
I think the main problem would be to find an engine that fits better to the game concept. Are there any Games with a 225 km2 level and Frostbite or Crytek engine? I think a lot of these Engines are made for smaller enviroments and contain a lot more detail than dayz because of that. Just Cause 2 on the other hand is huge and has fluffy graphics too, but there aren't that many details. The Arma and Dayz Engines were made for big, realistic levels in real life size. There isn't a house or a car every 2 Meters, but texture detail and landscape are great. So imho there is really no need to change the engine (won't happen anyway), and I have trust in the dev team that this "clunkiness" will disappear soon.

5000 prepatch, 500 now. Edit: my source: -
To avoid boredom after getting geared up i try to play as mercenary! I'm going to do almost anything... for a price :) Finding loot, supporting combat, scouting, medical care, ingame tips, complete sightseeing tours. Evrything except being your slave or participating in your force feed experiments. ;) The biggest problem so far is building up a good reputation, because its all about the trust. Username is merc.psychojake, you can find me ingame..sometimes.. or just send a request via steam... Payment is of course dependant of the gear you have. But mostly i'll be fine with food and ammunition...

Bored of the endgame? Possible Solution!

Would you accept such an offer as a merc? -

New player struggles ( gear, people, etc.)
JackinatorLP replied to CaptRandom (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
You just watched the wrong livestream.. ;) "Day two begins and I first try joining a low-pop server so I don't get slaughtered before getting to balota for weapons. Yes I know it's the super cheesy way to go about it, but I wanted to get more action than running around hiding from people with m4's and mosins with scopes while hungry and dying of thirst." Maybe try another game? -
Possible solution to KOS, hear me out

There are some features in the MOD and the SA that really help me to avoid bandits and let the friendly encounter rate go up to appr. 80% (in my case): -In the MOD: Looking out for Zombies spawning far far away (I hope the new spawn mechanism will include Zombies only spawning in a 300 M radius around players) -Analyze shooting sounds (Player vs Zombie, Player versus player(who shot whom first with what weapon?), PK-Equipment like sniper rifle, machine guns) -Analyze other players (Movement, Clothing [Camo? Military?], Actions, Tactics [Noob? Veteran?]) -Communication with bandits: I think (from personal experience) if you're too friendly and submissive in close encounters, you will get shot for showing weakness, and being too dominant just lets people give a shit about you and try to kill you. For me it was successful to stick to a neutral tone and behaviour. -Take short breaks to watch your Surroundings With all these things it should be easier to minimize catastrophic encounters without adding another clunky element. And if i get shot in the head after countless hours of breeding my supercharacter without even knowin who or what killed me, I'm shouting at my pc for 5 Seconds. After that, its just: Ok, restart, lets go, new Adventures! Getting killed without a warning is and has been part of SA and the Mod. This is why I don't quite understand your need for additional "game boundaries". The Game is as it is. Without the level of frustration immanent to it it wouldn't be half as much fun. Did you ever play PES? I can say, I hate the Game and love it at the same moment. Playing hundreds of hours because the Skills are going up sooo slow. And its difficult and frustrating as hell. But Achieving something is really great in PES, and it's the same with DayZ.. I don't want this game to be casualized. I really hope in the end it will be a game without any HUD (Inventory Management? Just like Surgeon Sim 2013 with a backpack instead of a patient... XD) and additional Markers etc. at all! So DayZ really could reinvent MMO games. :)
