My entire group just died... and there weren't even bandits or zombies.

Sometimes if you minimize the game with a weapon raised it starts firing on its own, until you press the fire button to reset it. It wastes a lot of my ammo -

Took out 8 tonight. Would have been more but I let a few people go. Started with a trio of bandits. Long ranged them with a Mosin and a PU scope. The final standoff was tense. Last guy was protecting his friends loot. Server crashed before I could loot them all, which really sucks causes they had awesome loot. The rest were just idiots.

What causes this glitch? Happens to me all the time.

Anyone else like the idea of unique mobs roaming Chenarus? As you traverse through the wilderness you might suddenly find yourself being run down by a bear defending her cubs, or a ravenous wolf pack. You might be unlucky enough to run into a boss zombie, much faster, and scarier, than your typical zombie, with it's own character model, sounds, and animations. They could carry unique loot as well. I think it would add a lot of excitement to the game knowing that there are other things lurking about Chenarus; things that don't follow the same rules zombies do, things you would actually be afraid to find. Hearing a roar in the distance could alert you to their presence. They could make loud noises when killed, alerting other players that one was just taken down. Maybe the echoing sound of a player getting mauled would make one think twice about taking a particular route (or motivate a daring scavenger hunt). There could be different mobs based on the day/night cycle as well. In WarZ there was a rumor going around that there was a roaming super zombie. If you went into the farthest corner of the map at night (the swamp), you could hear a roar. If you were new, like I was, you actually thought something was going to come out of the dark and maul you. It was terrifying, until I learned that there is no such super zombie, and there is nothing in the game to back up that terrifying sound. Me and my friends played the game thinking that something could chase us down out of the the darkness at any time. The game wasn't as fun anymore after we realized there was no such threat.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. Mysterious threats lurking in the wilderness of Chenarus.

Are you setting the range of your weapon? Use pageup and pagedown to set the distance of your target in meters. Also, bullets drop after traveling a certain distance. Mosin bullets drop to the left. Don't aim for the head all the time, just try to land any shot at all. Chances are it will kill them. Crouch when you fire. If you can prone that's even better. Also, make sure you aren't breathing too heavy. You can't whip out your gun after sprinting a mile and expect to hit your target. Make sure the attachments on your gun are in good condition. Scopes increase range. Also, make sure you are healthy. All of this affects accuracy. One slow careful shot is all it takes. Take your time, and do everything you can to improve your accuracy before you fire. Your second shot won't be easier.

Hive, mode and time columns in server browser http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/165709-pending-changelog-experimental-branch-031114343/ Items will probably still wipe every once in a while, but we will be able to see what hive we are joining, so we won't be doing it to ourselves anymore.

No one but hackers should be getting banned at this point. With that said, I think server hopping/ghosting is ruining the game. The game was not meant to be played as if we are magical teleporting people jumping through alternate dimensions, trying to get into a good position to kill another jumper, or trying to get that loot before any other jumper does. DayZ is not supposed to be the movie Jumper

A lot of people on the boards advise having a list of servers you know are safe in your favorites. I've been doing it and I haven't been wiped in a week.

My understanding is that your items get reset if you join the wrong server/hive. Maybe I'm wrong.

I kill players who are threats, or players who I think have items I want. I don't kill if I stand nothing to gain from it. -
Those items are gone because they are taken by server hoppers. Hopping is the problem, not the solution. Hey, I just ran a mile to this new town, but all it's shit is gone because people are intermittently signing into the building where the Mosin spawns. What am I to do? Run to the next town and hope that a server hopper hasn't taken all the good stuff there? Nah, I think I'll just server hop. It really is ruining the game.

For the moment I'm okay with this. I don't want people with better rigs having an advantage just because their computer enables them to see farther.

I won't miss the m4 spawns unless they make the m4 better. Mosin all the way. You'd think that the m4 would be better at close range, but that isn't really the case. The Mosin is just better all around at all ranges. Actually, at the moment, every other gun sucks in comparison. I don't even bother with sidearms anymore. -
Camping respawns? You don't deserve to call yourself a bandit. Worst thing I ever did was server hop at the top of the military base in the woods north of NWAF looking for unsuspecting players looting. I had never killed anyone at this point and I was fully geared. Didn't find anyone so I gave up. I signed back on an hour later and lo and behold there was a player prone looking for me on the lower platform (he heard me log in). He was so unlucky. I logged on with a perfect shot on him from above. I learned how inaccurate the m4 was that day. He was geared with a pistol, some ammo, a shovel, and a small green backpack. He must have ran straight to the base after spawning (this was before the spawns were changed.) What a waste of time LOL

It's pretty obvious if someone is a bandit. If they are patrolling around with their gun raised, they're bandits, it's that easy. Masks of any kind are also usually a dead giveaway. People in SA already dress accordingly. -

I'd like to see zombies without the ability to go through walls. Same goes for flashlights. I'd also like to see the return of day/night and weather. I'd also like for the items in the game that don't work yet (suppressor, bayonet, duct tape, etc.) to work. I'd really like to see hunting implemented as well. edit: I remembered while playing just now that I'd also like to see an option in the inventory to eat all of something with one button, instead of left and right clicking over and over again. I'd like to see swapping and picking up items work without stalls or glitches. Waiting for a dropped item to reappear on the ground (if it ever does), or waiting too long for your weapon to raise at critical moment, can be frustrating. I've noticed that gates can be difficult to open and close too. I gave up on closing one behind me yesterday and it resulted in my position being given away and the death of my survivor :( -
Is there a reason you can't just swim back? Am I missing something?

Could DayZ be done better on a different engine?

This. The game world is huge and there are no loading screnes. It doesn't seem like much but that's hard to pull off. Just think, at any point in time there could be a firefight a mile away from your location. You don't see it, you dont hear it, but your computer is still processing that information. You'll find the aftermath laying on the ground when you get there. If you had a scope you might have even been able to witness it. It's pretty crazy when you really think about it.
