Why would you want to play on a "NO KILL" server? That completely defeats the purpose of the game. What do you do after you get all your gear and there's nothing left to do? I for one think the community is pretty great. But if you don't know what you are doing, you get punished hard. That is why there is so much complaining going on about KoS.

The developers know what they are doing with the arma engine. They have been using it for a while, and the framework of the old game is still there for them to work with, which saves a lot of time. They are modders after all, not really game developers. If they switched engines we wouldn't see DayZ till 2018 and it wouldn't even be recognizable.

Haha, it's pretty hard to get mad about dying when she's here.
-
I think it was intentional when it was made that way for arma. It's not approximately off though. Its exactly off. You can shoot accurately knowing exactly how far off.

I don't think so. The player can rotate it any way they want, but I think the angles of the two perspectives are parallel. If 3PP is angled at all, it would be up, not down. Either they are parallel, or 3PP points up. Otherwise the results of the test would be different. Only way to know for sure is to recreate the test and see if the difference between 3PP and 1PP increases or decreases based on distance. I prefer to know exactly the way it is. That way I can use it as an advantage should I run into any KoSers :D

Good job finding a relevant pic, but I don't think the line of sight drops like that. 3PP line of sight is parallel to 1PP line of site, and 1PP line of site originates from your gun barrel (as represented in your picture). That's why the 3PP crosshair is slightly higher and to the left of the bullet I fired. I always shoot in first person (unless I'm wasting bullets on zeds), but it's odd that the game leads you to assume that the 3PP crosshair is accurate. It even bobbles around when you raise your weapon, which I interpreted as reflecting where your gun is actually pointing. It does reflect where your gun is pointing when it's bobbling like that, but the actual crosshair is down a foot and a bit to the right. The bobbling of the cross-hair is just weird, because it suggests that it's showing you exactly where the crosshair is, when in reality it's way off. I don't actually have a problem with it the way it is. But I think It's worth bringing up.

Beats me. Uploaded that stuff a long time ago. I only use that photobucket for stuff like this. Haha. For a minute I thought you could somehow see me through my webcam, because I kind of look like harry potter and there is a couch directly behind me and my girlfriend was naked on it last night when I was playing.

It's quite a bit more than a cm as you can see in my thread I made on the same subject. There are pics with proof. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167912-noticed-something-slightly-off/

Sure will.

It's funny because I was debating whether or not to include that information, I didn't, and you called it out almost immediately, haha :P If you look close enough you can see a zed charging me down.

I understand why it's happening. That doesn't help us people that want our shots to go where the cross-hair is. I think this makes it clear where Rocket stands on the first-person/third-person argument. But, we already knew that.
-
I was going to include why in the original post but I thought it was irrelevant. I took the screenshots when I first noticed this. I didn't want to waste 1 of my 4 shotgun shells and I also didn't think the shotgun would be precise enough for testing. So I started searching for a different weapon to use and this is the result.

Just because they prefer to play first person, doesn't mean they want to kill everyone they see. Why are you expecting them to be more aggressive? The people who support first person play style are purists anyway. These types of players are more likely to interact with players in positive ways. Why does this surprise you? It should be expected. Better players don't KoS. Hardcore = better players.

Everything seems to be back to normal. I guess that maintenance fixed whatever problem there was. Haven't been reset once today. Last night the hive was all over the place. Anyone still having problems?

That's one way to put it.

He's comparing it to other early access survival games that run better. He's reviewing it as an alpha product.

[Suggestion] Option to permanently flatten grass in front of you
Solopopo replied to gibonez's topic in Suggestions
Um.... yeah, or you can just play with everything on low and have no grass at all. -
The most recent update messed the servers up. I'm getting pretty impatient myself, but the game worked much better before. The lead developer himself said the game is only 20 percent complete, and you're surprised by a lack of content? Lack of content is what makes an alpha an alpha.
-
So before the most recent patch I had a list of about 20 servers in my favorites that never reset me. I've had to erase them all because they aren't safe anymore. There are regular and hardcore servers/hives, we all know that, but it feels like there are at least 15 fragmented hives right now. I've been bouncing around testing server after server and I almost never spawn in the same place. I can't even tell which hive is the "correct" hive anymore. My server search bar is filled with hundreds of public/regular servers, almost none of which seem to be connected to any other. What the heck is going on? How does splitting the hive into two separate parts (regular/hardcore) create seemingly thousands of sub hives? The game is currently unplayable. inb4 alpherz herr durrr

Anyone been up there yet? I just noticed on the Dayzdb map that there is a town in front of the area where the ship is now.
-
That's what I'm talking about. I can't even switch servers one time without losing everything. I'm not hopping, although when people first started posting about this problem the default response was "stop hopping noob." <_< Sounds to me like this is a problem we will be dealing with for a long time, after every update. Sigh. I guess I'm done for a while till this issue is fixed. I'm not about to sink 2 hours into a hive that might be gone tomorrow.
-
So to stop serving hopping they broke the hive? That makes sense.
-
They spawn at server hopper's feet. Don't bother. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus In all seriousness every red dot in cherno/elektro spawn Mosins, except for the large tower. Almost every red dot on the map spawns Mosins, or at least M4s. You've probably ran over where they spawn a hundred times, they are just always missing, and because they are always missing, you can walk right over the spawn point and never know it. I got really lucky one time, which is the only reason I figured it out. For my first 30 hours I hadn't seen a single Mosin. Memorize where red circle buildings are in your travels. Edit: I'm talking about the big red dots btw, not the small ones. The small ones are usually melee weapons.
-
I've heard of players losing their Mosins when trying to spray paint them. I just lost mine by simply having a spray can in my inventory. I swapped my Mosin for a shotgun on the ground and it completely disappeared. When I looked at the spray can it was empty. It was not empty before I dropped the Mosin.
