Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
Geckofrog7 replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I personally like 3PP, and have used it in ArmA all the time. Yeah it's not realistic, but neither is 1PP. I like to be able to quickly assess my surroundings like I would be able to in reality. That said, why force everyone into 1PP anyways, even if it was the stupidest, most unrealistic thing ever? Everyone has their different preference in playstyle. -
I'd say just go gear up again. It's fun.

Shrub is the messiah of DayZ. Spreading the word of being fren & brave. no being kill, only frenly. I wear a Wolf mask and I run to the coast to drop off care packages for the less fortunate. Stahp with the generalizing Payday masks, I've never met a single bandit wearing one, only friendlies.

Possible Admin Abuse? Wtf! Zombie chases Me for MILES!
Geckofrog7 replied to JRL1990's topic in General Discussion
lolwut? admin abuse? -
Sprinting with gun pointed forward = CoD/Battlefield? Also, I've ran exactly like that irl, with an AKM, (wasn't loaded, though) did not trip or even feel unbalanced. The sprinting animations seem fine to me. And this game has come steps and bounds where KoS is concerned; I see about 300% more friendlies/real bandits these days than back in January. So far I've seen absolutely no similarities in sprinting with CoD or Battlefield. (the former I played until 2011, the latter I've played from BF1942 to BF4)

Ways to Kill a Zombie we would like to see possible
Geckofrog7 replied to bobotype3334's topic in Suggestions
-it would probably more kill them from the shock, and I'm not sure this engine can handle that type of gore. -Maybe with a .22, but any weapon past that should have no problem killing them in 1-3 hits. These guys are just infected humans, not super mutants. :P -While this is by far my favorite, it should by no means take a minute. And although they might be dulled from lesser pain being infected, I doubt the zombies are gonna just keep fighting you while on fire. But yes on everything else. I especially want to be able to let zombies bleed out, and I may be the only person who finds that a home brewed flamethrower/defoliant projector, especially one mounted on a vehicle, would just be the best thing to take out a group of infected with without wasting ammunition. It would also look very pretty. Oh, the unconsciousness thing too, that should apply to infected. -
DayZ is nothing compared to how Halo was back in the day. And how CoD is now, unfortunately. But yeah, just avoid people until you've figured out more of the game, or they will annoy you to no end. Head north to the villages, not the airfields. Lots of loot, no kids. (few people at all) The coast is a deathtrap.

I say just make it like ArmA on the normal 3rd person servers. Why subject only vehicles to this anyways?

AUG needs buff until AUG = welcome to the clutch.

@george_smiley, Thanks for the mags, I'll keep an eye out for magpuls and scopes. Yeah I know, I can just pack it up. I like it as a spot to spill some extra rubbish, particularly clothes and ammunition.

I always keep a few in my backpack/pants as well, though. If a zombie ruins your jacket, you're grade A screwed.

Anyone ever discovered a building with a ridiculous amount of loot?
Geckofrog7 replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
True, but shouldn't we have maybe a stickied page or something? There seems to at least be one thread every day about "INSANE LOOT CHECK OUT THIS SERVER". -

Nope. Never encountered this issue. Must just be you, cause I've not seen any other threads on this topic. -
(3rdP) Have: -AK74 (no mag) -willing to spare a few AKM mags; or even the AKM and all 4 mags if it's something good. -FNX mag -Makarov with lots of extra mags and ammunition Want: -Black Balaclava -White Balaclava -Blackskull Balaclava -AK74 mag -Tent Willing to go on a big long loot search if someone needs something in particular. We've scoured the earth for these items, and they've yet to pop up. (Even the tent with apartment trick) Seriously though, will trade good stuff for balaclavas. They're important. For reasons.

*guy in bright yellow raincoat shoots you in the head once with a .22* "You are dead." Gear matters not in PvP. Only your positioning. I get killed more with military and utilitarian gear than I do charging with a .22, yelling "FOR THE FATHERLAAAAAAAND!!!"

Although I have a feeling heat is going to be nerfed hard and hypothermia will again be the more ruling side in future patches, would not pouring water on yourself from a canteen, water bottle, or even a soda be a half decent way to cool off? Cause at the moment we have few options: A. Wear t-shirt or some other thin layered clothing. (Which will quickly kill you in colder conditions.) B. Take your clothes off every so often to cool down, which is not only very unclassy, but takes a good amount of time to even get back down to hot. C. You can jump in a pond/ocean/creek but once you're inland, those are few and far between. D. Walk at a slow pace. While this sounds dreadful at the moment, maybe once vehicles are in it'll make a lot more sense. Even if it becomes a non-problem either from nerfing overheating, or from making sprinting obsolete, I believe that bottled water is a no brain way to cool down which people in hot climates use every day.

Results of killing (insanity, morality)
Geckofrog7 replied to threedogification's topic in Suggestions
If this were the realistic case, certainly Simo Häyhä would have been a complete mad hatter. @caboose, while in layman's terms you could call them insane, I'm willing to bet that a good amount of those people are simply brainwashed, not necessarily insane in the technical sense. Hitler is arguable, but for the most part even Nazis were mentally stable. Not that they weren't ruthless killers, but they didn't just go off on a rampage and kill random people; (except for the ones who did.) they were actually quite friendly if you were fortunate enough to be in good terms with them. -
Firestations. This is why I never trust them.

Now this is the kind of survival type thing this game absolutely needs. I really hope that instead of raiding grocery stores for canned food, we'll have to catch our own food if we want to keep eating.
