Any of you guys wonder what time period dayz is in.

I thought it was already established that this takes place a short time after ArmA 2. (2009) Earliest it could be is 1985+ anyways, with mentions of the conflict in Kolgujev, and by extension, Everon/Malden/Nogova. (Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis) http://i.imgur.com/0TAl9m5.jpg?1 http://www.dayztv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/dayz-everon-sign.jpg And now that I look at it, look at the release date at the top of the billboard. 2009+...but maybe it could be before ArmA 2..? -
Problem with this merge is that I don't think the game is shit and want my money back.

YOU'RE ALL JUST USING ALPHA AS AN EXCUSE OMG CAN'T YOU SEE THE DEVS ARE ILLOMANATI???? -
I'm not sure you can just duct tape the barrel back on and expect the gun to work. xD
-
Just sayin' not every person with guns and ammo are cold blooded murderers. They just want to defend themselves.

And if I help the Powder Gangers?

+1 :beans:

Should I just hand guns out to everyone, then? *gets popcorn*

I REGRET NOTHING! Except the time I told the OP who suggested Skyrim lockpicking mechanics to go die.
-
your mind is very strange indeed, then.

Your character is immune to becoming a zombie. The infection is, I assume, spread just like the flu and what not. However, I do think you should be able to eat it, but it has a very high risk of giving you serious infection and disease.

While the AKM has better stopping power and much more common magazines, I still love the AK74 for the fact that extra 5.45 can easily fit in my inventory. Also the AK74, especially the mag, looks the best out of all the AKs.
-
I don't believe this is necessary to add to every suggestion post. xD Or really any of them. If something becomes popular enough, the devs will know about it.

SVD's are to be brought in once the loot system is all finished. They want it rare, otherwise it turns into the Mod. So soon...tm...I guess.
-
Scopes are indeed still in the game. They seem to spawn more in civilian areas than military now, however.
-
The MP5K has a much higher turning rate than the AK74U, and accepts a large range of attachments. And so far for me, MP5Ks are easier to find than AKS74U's, especially the mags. I also like the sights much better on the MP5K, as well as the better stability. It's all in preference; so far I've had better luck with the MP5, it seems to take things down faster, but maybe that's just me.

For the Mod, you'll want to go on Steam and purchase "ARMA: Combined Operations" (Which is ARMA 2 and ARMA: Operation Arrowhead together, both games required for the Mod.) If you want 1337 graphics too, get the DLCs. They add higher resolution textures to your characters and some other stuff; but it's not a big deal one way or the other.

I left for a good 3-4 months after a certain patch that caused zombies to ruin all gear in 1-2 hits. Trying to keep 30 people geared up was impossible; and the whole game was nothing but run away-bandage, run away-bandage. Zombies would spawn about 2 feet away from you, instantly hitting you no matter what. I simply didn't even have the time to safely logout..it would take a good hour to get rid of all the pursuing zombies. So I took a nice long break, kept up with development, and joined back in. Had fun ever since. (Though only about 2-3 people from BoC are still around.)

A new approach to the bandits and heros situation

While I don't agree with OP's ideas either..2 much ad hominem 4 me. -
No gun is "better" in this game. I myself prefer the AKM for the stopping power, range, and how god damn awesome it looks. It's a very good all around primary, especially in CQC. The MP5 is an excellent secondary however; you can fit in your backpack. Good rate of fire, but not a lot of stopping power. Make sure you have enough time to put a good 3-5 bullets in at close range (1-2 for zombies). Not useful at all at long ranges. The ammunition seems to be equally as common, although AKM mags have been easier to find so far than MP5 mags. Overall it comes down to personal preference. Even if someone says a gun is the worst, just try it. Try it once. The shotguns for example, while most certainly not the most practical weapon, are very fun to use. (Then again, so is an AKM with a drum mag. :P)

After many hours of playing I've realized one thing....

Pffft. You act to aggressive. I can calmly walk in the middle of the NW airfield, bullets flying everywhere. But not a single one aimed at me. -
No backpack, but I had full winter clothes and boots. Ran for 20 minutes in deep snow in the middle of nowhere cause the fkers dared me to run there without a snowmobile. Totally worth it; shooting AK is fun.
