Clarification on "Base Building"
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
No, not realistic and not likely to happen. We aren't in a collapse of civilization that has to rebuild buildings from the ground up. Smart people would take what is at hand and try to create and start a new place to live. No one would be stupid enough enough to abandon what they have around them to take a hatchet into the woods in hopes if building their great fortess. You make it sound that humanity is going to turn back into neanderthals and go off to find their little island to build anew all the while turning into a gang mentality of killing everything that isn't wearing their colors. -
Clarification on "Base Building"
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Base building removes the realism. All it does is turn the game into a clan vs clan warfare match. I trust the devs to do the right thing and the modders to do the wrong thing. Epoch is garbage and that's what a large chunk of the playerbase wants and I guarantee it won't be part of the base game. I will play a vanilla dayz until there is no vanilla left and move on to something that doesn't suck. -
Has a lack of UI actually decreased immersion in DayZ?
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to scriptfactory's topic in General Discussion
It's not hard to identify anyone. The problem is that everyone chooses to run soldier mode and have the exact same gear. Every video I see of clans showing off how leet they are shows them wearing same vests, same backpacks, same M4's, same helmets, same jackets and same pants. There is so much variety of clothing to wear but again, people choose to play as the same character as everyone else. -

Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to scriptfactory's topic in General Discussion
The topic was already beaten to death and trumped. No tags, no identification, none of that stuff. It's done, beaten and gone. -
Oh they aren't coming out any time soon, especially during the alpha process because that would be utterly stupid to do but it has been confirmed, sadly.
-
Oh of course. We haven't even been told what kind of modding will and will not be allowed yet.
-
You are aware modding will be coming out, right? Which means we will most definitely be getting different versions of DayZ. DayZ Carebears Paradise, DayZ Bandit Party, etc.....
-
What about through mods tho? Will Bohemia allow players to create mods that could virtually turn their server into a pure PvE playground? I understand through private servers you can enforce the rules but could this happen?

I guess you don't remember finding fresh fruit many months ago was not all that common plus the fact that there is no need for repair whatsoever on the V3S just proves that my assertion is correct and that's what people think the game is going to be like. Find vehicles everywhere and go vroom. Their bubbles are really going to be burst in the coming months but the point to this thread isn't about vehicles, it'a about night time and if it's too late for them to fix it. -

Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure how it's negative? The same posts pop up daily asking about wanting more vehicles so they don't have to run around anymore and I am 100% sure they don't get the fact that this game is not going to play like GTA where you can find vehicles laying around everywhere and freely jump in them and go. It's been mentioned by the developers, mods and players that this first implementation of vehicles is at it's very basic. We do not need to fix them yet, which again, they don't realize they will have to do. Anyway, off topic there. The original night time was not too dark unless you are playing on a dying monitor from 20 years ago. You could see perfectly fine in the open when is was pitch black out and it only got completely black in the forests and inside buildings. Inside the building is where the lack of proper light rendering was hindering the night time experience imo. Not to mention they had the lighting issues with the flashlight going through walls which I do believe was fixed many months ago. -

You don't think explanations have been posted for over a year now? Heck, even the roadmap shows what they have coming up and it's only going to make the game harder(which is good). I am not sure what you mean about holding their hands? -

Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I really hope you are correct but day time is like the current running speed. People are so accustomed to it that even the slightest tweak is going to send this forum into a frenzy of rage and hate posts. I have faith in the devs to create the monster they are making but will it cost them a large chunk of the playerbase? Quite frankly, and this is my opinion, the majority of the current playerbase is playing DayZ for all the wrong reasons not understanding what kind of game it's going to be. -

Opinions on teamspeak and DayZ SA?

I'll be on steam chat with a buddy and once we meet up we'll usually turn it off and use in game chat. We're the real hardcore players and not the prissy kind who think that it's tactical to use TS :D -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Don't get me wrong, Gibonez, I know you've mentioned the fourth wall thingy a lot of times but even that is pretty lame as it makes people pop in and out of existence. 3pp removes the element of surprise and suspense. You can open a door to a building and spot the guy waiting in ambush for you without even seeing him. That is stupid. -

Caught hacking or was multi-accounting on the forums. Those are really the only ones I can think of. -
High settings uses more GPU and low settings uses more CPU.

Tired running around for trucks >=[
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to MatchboxChick's topic in General Discussion
Hate to burst your bubbles but, as it's been pointed out, get used to all the running because you'll be doing a lot of it while hauling back parts to even get a vehicle working. -
---ATTENTION ALL SERVER HOSTERS---
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to airborneguy's topic in General Discussion
I haven't really read too much about the private servers but apparently you can kick people without any reason according to this. http://dayz.com/files/pdf/Server_Hosting_Rules_Private.pdf Keep in mind that you could have a very lonely server if you feel the need to randomly kick people and word gets around. I for one wouldn't play on anybodies server who just kicks people because they feel like it. -
In my opinion not having the indicators enhances the game. Shaking should be enough notification that your character is cold. I'm all for removing status messages out of the game entirely.

Do we really need more zombies?
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
Yes, DayZ needs more infected. Now I believe that instead of the usual infected roaming around outside in the open it'd be nice to be sneaking around scavenging inside of houses and buildings to open up a door to a room and see some infected inside. This would add a lot more sense of danger to just running around full tilt through buildings collecting loot. -
---ATTENTION ALL SERVER HOSTERS---
Caboose187 (DayZ) replied to airborneguy's topic in General Discussion
A lot of times if you see the name Admin is because steam or the game itself, not sure which one it is, will be named after your computer and there are quite a few people who just leave their computers as Admin. They aren't using the name to spite you or anyone who hosts a server. As for the blank name I could have sworn it wasn't allowed anymore but I believe you are not allowed to kick for those.
