  1. I've got a Sensei so I'm well equipped to advise there.

The build quality is excellent. If I was to judge based only on the feel of the mouse in your hand and the quality of the switches then it would be my favourite of the many, many mice that I've used but the sensor is pretty poor and you'd definitely expect better for the price. The difference in tracking between the FK1 and Sensei is unbelievable.

If you're dead set on Steelseries then go with the Rival. It's a much better mouse.

I'm not dead set on any one brand. I just like the Sensei because it's wireless and of the style I like. I'm not a competitive gamer anymore so I don't need oodles of performance. Just want something that looks nice, feels nice, and works well. The price is a bit of a turnoff and so is the fact that it's rechargeable rather than battery powered and that it won't work without the base nearby (yikes!) according to the amazon reviews. Those problems combined are a pretty big pill for me to swallow, but otherwise it's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm still on the fence about it.

  2. This is the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks.

As I am a left handed individual this may reduce my options.

I think ColdAtrophy recommended this brand of mouse as well. Apparently this shape is most ergonomic.

My new computer will be here within a week so, my hunt for the perfect left handed mouse is on!

I am (obviously) in no position to be recommending mice to anyone, but in my quest to find a mouse I like, I came across the Steelseries Sensei. It's ambidextrous. My girlfriend is also cursed with left-handedness and she'll be using my laptop as well, so I was considering the wireless version of the sensei, which looks gorgeous. The price, however, does not, though I did manage to find them for about a $100 on amazon. They have a wired version of the sensei which is much cheaper but it's out of stock on their site. You may be able to find it elsewhere though. Not at all recommending this to you since I don't know dick about mice, but I'll leave a link so you can look for yourself https://steelseries.com/gaming-mice

Right now I'm sort of divided between the Logitech G602 and the Steelseries Sensei Wireless. I am still very open to other wireless mouse options and I appreciate the responses and expertise of all who have posted.

  3. I just copied it from my Amazon review.

But...why do you want a wireless mouse so much? Wired mice are superior.

I don't doubt that they're superior. It's just preference. Same reason I chose a laptop over a desktop. Just suits me better. I often drag my laptop from my bedroom to the couch to the kitchen table to wherever. The fewer cords I have to trip me up when I'm walking down the stairs in the middle of the night, the better. I know there's little logic in it, but it's like asking someone why they like their favorite color. They just do.

  4. wireless is nice, but it sounds like you're leaning toward performance.  that mostly means wired.

I have a deathadder chroma.  which is frankly overkill for me because I don't pvp or anything.  but it's incredibly responsive and well-made.

I don't consider myself a competitive gamer, just an enthusiast, so I don't need the craziest most high performance mouse. I just want something of quality with a little performance that works for me.

This is the best mouse that I have ever used. Hands down. No doubt in my mind. I wouldn't ever buy another mouse should I ever have to replace this one. And that doesn't look like it will happen soon at all.

I bought this mouse around two and a half years ago and I have been using it ever since. Buying a gaming mouse can be tricky, since you want something that will give you lots of options for customization, feels great in your hand, and can also be good for using in non-gaming tasks. The G600 does all those things excellently, and I literally (literally literally) have zero complaints about this mouse.

It's $40 and I enjoyed this mouse far more than the G500 and G400 that I tried. But why should you buy this mouse? Lemme tell you...

    1) It has a third mouse button clicker on the far right. This will spoil you and make it impossible to go back to any regular two click mice. What can it help you do? In Battlefield, I set this to swap to my secondary weapon like a pistol. It opens my inventory in 7 Days to Die or Minecract. It swaps my weapon in Guild Wars 2, it changes my camera from 1st to 3rd person view in DayZ. It lets me melee SUPER quickly in Call of Duty. It brings up my inventory in The Witcher 3, and closes it back up. In Garry's Mod it's my push-to-talk button. It takes a little getting used to, but having that third clicker there is so helpful I cannot stress how much it helps you do things super quickly and easily in games.

    2) 12 programable buttons on the side! 12! If Jesus had this mouse, he'd have a button for every Apostle. It helps me swap equipment in an instant in games like Battlefield and Dirty Bomb, as well as quickly prone and crouch. In Guild Wars 2 and WoW it is super super super handy for using abilities and spells in a moment's notice. It's easy to get down the muscle memory and in the case of GW2, helps you to target enemies with abilities far faster and more precise than using other methods...and that makes you perform better in the game.

    3) Sturdiness! Been using the same mouse for two years and it's never skipped a beat or had a problem. It isn't wearing out with the exception of some of the bottom padding, though it still works flawlessly. And with the exception of having to fiddle with a setting in F.E.A.R...I've never had to adjust anything regarding the EXCELLENT software that comes with this mouse...

4)Logitech Gaming Software is phenomenally useful and easy to set up. It lets you change everything from the mouse settings itself to progamming what games have what hotkeys and what functions every little button does. I cannot stress how easy this is to use, and it works very very well with other Logitech products like the keyboard that I also use, the G510s. Alternatively, what I ended up doing was changing the third click button to perform the "=" key, which is never ever used for anything, really, and simply setting in-game commands to the "=" key so I don't have to swap games or profiles in the software. So if I go into Battlefield 4 and change the "Swap to sidearm" key to "=", I can just press my third mouse button and Bam! out comes the Deagle.

    5) Easy to grip and aim. It's easy to get used to the physical feel of the mouse in your hands. It's not a very large mouse, and I grip it sorta like a "claw". It's not uncomfortable, and aiming precisely at other player's noggins or selecting items and other things comes very easy to me. It's definitely made it easier to do well in fast paced FPS games.

I know this glowing review sounds like I'm a fanboy, but I'm not. I've hated some of Logitech's other mice. This one is just incredibly good and easy to use and it really will help you in games. It is study and reliable, the software is great, and your muscle memory will quickly build up to press all the buttons with ease.

Buy this mouse. It's worth every penny. It's a steal at $40.

I like that a lot. That's very close to the look/feel I'm going for. It looks like it would be comfortable in my hand. I don't need that many buttons but the third clicker is pretty neat. Too bad it's not wireless. I feel bad that you typed that much but you still made me laugh and hopefully it helps someone else because you seem to know what you're talking about.

  5. Logitek for me, I've been using an original G5 for over 5 years and it's still going strong.

The software is good, I do everything with the programmable buttons, crouch/prone/up (+ & - buttons), lean L/R combat roll (tilt buttons),scroll wheel for scrolling  :D , B4 for reloading and more besides....

Not a fan of wireless myself so if I was going to buy a new mouse I would go for the G502, for you I guess the G602 is what you are asking for.

I'm currently using a Logitech as well and I like it. But it's just some dinky old mouse for my dinky old laptop. Not even intended for gaming. I spent a good chunk of change on my new laptop so I feel like I should have a decent mouse as well. I do remember skimming over the one you showed me though I didn't look at it in detail, which is a shame because upon closer inspection I quite like it. Thank you for your input. I will likely go with that unless somebody else can come up with something better.

  6. So I just ordered a new Alienware 17 R3 gaming laptop with most of the optional bells and whistles included. Yes I know that you can get more for less with desktops and I looked at several other laptops. This was just the best choice for me and I like to play on my couch or bed and I prefer laptops for their mobility, keyboards, and for ergonomic reasons, but that's beside the point. Anyway, while waiting for it to arrive, I've started shopping for accessories. I've already ordered a good cooling pad. Now I need a decent mouse. I looked at Targus and Logitech and some of the Razor gaming mice, as well as shopped around on Google.

I have been unable to find anything that I like so I'm hoping to get some suggestions. My biggest requirements are that it must be wireless and it must look like something an adult would use, not something that looks like the Power Rangers might summon a megazord with it. It also must be fairly small and ergonomic. I sort of want the look/feel of a typical mouse but with the performance of a gaming mouse. A tall order, I know. I'm willing to shuck out as much as $100 for the right mouse.

    So, requirements...

    - Wireless

    - Of small/medium size

    - Ergonomic

    - Under $100

    - Must look like it wasn't designed by an 8 year old

Pro gamers and computer gurus, help a guy out? Thanks.

  7. I see them pretty often in the little brown jeep-type vehicles that are scattered around military bases and cities. I also see them outside of the small building that spawns all the loot on the steps. It seems to be some sort of military building with an office and a bathroom in it. I've been having a lot more luck looting military vehicles around the bases rather than the buildings, as the buildings don't seem to spawn much nowadays.

  8. Really? I've looted through the entirety of the NWAF and Vybor military base about 10 times since 0.55 came to stable and I haven't seen any AKMs or magazines, although handguards, stocks, and PSO-1 scopes seem to be very common now. Wrecked vehicles do seem to be the best loot locations now (found a few AK-74s and a bunch of attachments, other guns and ammo plus my many military vests there) but I have yet to see an AKM there.

And about safety, I intend to have at least one friend with me for security during the trade. Obviously still a chance they'll try something, but having backup will be good.

I think NEAF has 2 APCs, a Humvee, and 4 of the small brown military trucks that all spawn AKMs. I've only been to NWAF once briefly since the recent patch and didn't spend much time looting there, but I've heard others say that there's not much loot there since the patch. I could be wrong about that though. Right now cars, military vehicles and police stations seem to be the best places to loot. I've seen a lot of good stuff in all civilian buildings as well but not many guns in them.

  9. I've seen several the past few days on the APCs and little brown open-top military trucks around military bases and a few other places. NEAF is a good place to check. You might be safer just looking for one there rather than risking what you have to some rando who might shoot you rather than trade with you. They really aren't that hard to find. I've seen quite a bit of ammo and 75 round drum mags as well.

  10. This should probably be in Standalone General Discussion...... Not sure why you put it in Off-topic.....

I also highly doubt that he drank the gasoline, either.

I listed it under off-topic because it's not especially important and in my mind, unimportant things go in the off-topic section. If I'm wrong, Admins please feel free to relocate this thread. Not a big deal really.

As for the gasoline I'd say there is a fair chance he drank it. Is there a way to check whether it's water or gasoline in a container? Unless he was clever enough to drag the container onto the chainsaw to see if it gave him the refueling option.

  11. To the guy who shot me in the back as I ran out of the Gorka police station last night, I hope you drank that gasoline in my PET bottle. If you didn't, enjoy my chainsaw because I carried that thing for HOURS searching for gas for it and only got to slice up one zombie with it before you took it from me.

Seriously though, I'm not upset because I found an AK and drum mag within two minutes of respawning. I'm just really curious to know if you drank that gas in my PET bottle, thinking it was water.

  12. I probably best fit the Neutral Friendly category. Once or twice I set out to murder people but that was more of just an experiment. I'm typically friendly towards everyone I meet unless they show hostility. I like to get very well geared and carry as much loot as I can then search for people so I can give the stuff away. I also take big risks. I don't usually bother being all tactical and paranoid. I put myself in harms way quite a bit for the sake of helping others and entertaining myself, which is usually what gets me killed.

  13. Sorry, but after a few years of dealing with the same thing in the Mod whenever Zombies would get buffed up a bit we are a bit tired of the whole, "I thought this game was about shooting newspawns and teabagging them, why are you moving away from player interaction?"

Completely understandable, though it doesn't justify elitist vets being douchebags to anyone who doesn't want exactly what they do. I don't want this game to be anything like CoD, but I also don't want to fight a horde of zombies with naught but my fists. I lean more towards the pve side myself, but for the sake of fairness, it would probably be best to have a more diverse game than just "lets run from zombies until our lungs burst if we don't starve first." If people wanna fight zombies, bring hoards of zombies. If they wanna pvp, give them tacticool stuff to search for. If they wanna play the cowboy way, give them firepits and repeaters. There's room for all, and devs seem to be doing the best they can to satisfy everyone. That's what makes this game great, the freedom to play however you like. If you want to move away from player interaction, then there is really no point to DayZ even being an online game. As OP said, they have offline zombie games already.

  14. Found tons of 30 round mags for MP5 in every police station I've been to. Also found the actual gun itself in the 3rd station I checked. Saw a RAK and it's corresponding mag in a police station a few nights ago. Found an AK-74 sitting on top of a ruined APC at NEAF a few days ago. Also found tons of ammo, AK-74 mag and an AKM mag in and around other vehicles at NEAF. I've checked tons of civilian buildings and haven't seen many guns at all, but plentiful ammo. Besides a few locations I'd say guns are pretty rare presently. On a separate note, I haven't seen too many axes besides a hatchet. I hope they make them more common as they are pretty important for many things.

  15. The OP was a (circle) jerk first in this case, see?

I don't make this game and don't pretend to know exactly how it will be, I just test it and present thoughts and ideas.

What I can tell you is that for going on 3 years now those of us who do want a "death by zombie simulator/bear grylls simulator" (you know, DayZ) have had to endure the low brow casual PvP set who are trying desperately to make this DayCoD.

    Finally, their uppance, has come.

Oh I agree with you about not wanting strictly another pvp game. I'm into the whole survival sim thing as well. I think the game has managed to be a good outlet for many playstyles. Survival sim, pvp, pve, rp, social experiment, etc. I think it would detract from the overall experience of the diverse player base if the devs were to focus solely on fighting zombies and eating berries. Just not really diggin the holier than thou attitude some veteran players seem to have.

No need to be a jerk about it, my friend. I've noticed on other threads you're pretty quick to attack people who don't want exactly what you want out of the game. The guy is just voicing his opinion. He's saying he wants them implemented in a challenging yet not impossible to deal with sort of way. Seems reasonable. I think he's also referring to this small, smug, elitist group of players developing on the forums who tear into anyone who doesn't want a death-by-zombie simulator. Personally, I'm pretty happy and impressed with the development of the game but I don't expect it to be made exactly how I think it should be and you probably shouldn't either. Just relax man, I'm sure it'll be a great game and most of us will enjoy it.

  17. Yep, it goes all the way back to early DayZ mod for us.  Whenever we would be overlooking an area and action wouldnt happen, we would each point our snipers at each other and pretend to shoot.  This time it ended in a misclick and my death lol.

This would make a good public awareness firearm safety video. Seems like a commercial I would've seen on shitty local TV in the 90's.

  18. While the new zombies have problems, I think the difficulty in dealing with them is being a bit overblown on the forums. They certainly are more difficult. I can't dodge them as effectively by dancing around them. They don't move like robots anymore. Looks much better. I played all afternoon, looting small to medium sized towns. Even made a trip to the NE airfield. Never had more than two of them on me at a time, and I killed all but two of them with a fire axe. It does take 3-4 hits from the fire axe to kill them now. Either they nerfed the axe or buffed the zombies. They did beat the hell out of me when I had to deal with more than one at a time.

Oddly enough, as much as I was pummeled, the only articles of clothing that took any damage were pants and shoes, both ruined. I was wearing a plate carrier so that may have protected me and my jacket from taking damage. From what I've seen, it seems that the best strategy is to head inland off the coast immediately after spawning and start looting small villages. I actually saw a ton of military clothing and vests and such in civilian buildings. Like a high-cap vest spawning on a civilian car. I saw fewer guns than I normally do in civilian areas but besides that I quite like the changes to the loot economy. For anyone having problems I'd suggest heading inland and staying away from larger cities.

  19. I'd like to see the Stone Cold "suck it" gesture when he does the two hand karate chop to his genitals.

I was gonna suggest this but this fella beat me to it. I'd love to see the old crotch-chop make a comeback. I miss the 90's.

Also, AIRPLANE ARMS w/ mock airplane noise!

    Montella_hk0607_07_airplane.jpg

Finally, I know this is a bit off topic but can we please have the option to equip our pants on our heads? I feel like this would go well with airplane arms.

  20. I was playing an "RP No KoS" server. There were only two other players on it so I took advantage of the relative safety and was having my way with NWAF. A short distance outside the airfield I find the very first operational truck I've seen (haven't played much the past few months) so I was pretty excited about it. Certain that the thing will be out of gas, I enter the cab and by some divine miracle the fuel gauge reads full. Now I'm pumped.

I start driving up and down the airfield like a madman. I was almost hoping someone would see me and stare in awe at my big beautiful beast. After a few runs around the airfield I find no one, so I decide to start looting tent town. Server restarts. I step outside for a cig. Come back some time later and my truck is still there. I'm excited all over again. I will drive this truck far North and hide it in the woods somewhere before I log off for the night then make a trip around the map in it tomorrow and see what shenanigans I get into.

Just then I hear a distant automatic weapon. HUMAN! I haven't seen another player in ages. I will drive up on him, wind blowing in my hair, scoop him up and we will have great adventures together! I set off in search of him and eventually locate him gunning down zombies somewhere near the center of the airfield. I can only imagine how bewildered and impressed he is with me as he sees me drive up out of nowhere, stopping a short distance away from him. "FRIENDLY!" I yell. No response. He just stares, mouth agape, clearly in awe of this truck driving angel of dark skin and light heart that sits before him. "Do you need a ride?" I say. Again, no response. Now his legs have started working again and walks over to my truck and stands but a few yards away. "Hop in!" I say. He stares for a few moments.

Then it all goes so wrong. I see him raise his weapon and point it at me. This truck is too slow to move me out of the path of a bullet. I sit and wait for the inevitable, and sure enough "You are dead."

If you're reading this Tuckerwhatevertherestofyournamewas, I forgive you. Enjoy my truck and remember to change the oil every 3-5k miles.
