What exactly makes Standalone so taxing on your system?
hannibaldaplaya replied to anderswhk's topic in General Discussion
Its the killer of every single list... A) B) C) D). One is not like the other. This game is built on an outdated engine that has always had performance issues. I sincerely doubt it will ever be optimized fully. The engine is just not good in optimization terms. -
Making a thread on the forums should be the equivalent of reporting the issue. Plus, players and potential customers should be able to know that shit like this happens.

Everything should be discussed in public. Keeping things behind closed doors is horrible. Let the community know about issues like this.

Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
hannibaldaplaya replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yes. Look at how rarely Arma 3 goes on sale. Sure, it does every once and a while, but it sticks at $60 for the most part, while they sell Arma 2 as cheap as gas station hot dogs most of the time. Combined with these ridiculous prices and the fact DayZ is an Early Access title that costs $30 is ridiculous, and yet they expect $60 for it when its finally released... -

No, mods never ruin any game. Mods in DayZ Mod only provided alternate gamemodes that you, personally, did not like. There were still 'hardcore' and 'vanilla' servers, just many preferred to play on what they considered enhanced versions. Just because you believe DayZ must be played in one singular purist way does not mean everybody else does. Not allowing modding will detract from both custom 'hardcore' modes and custom 'easy' modes. Let people have the tools to make what they want with the game. How the fuck is that bad? -
No, sorry. Wait for mods, though I don't want them, its clear others do, and there is no problem with that.

Alright, pal. Oh, no, Overpoch! We can't have that! Don't allow players to have any sort of modified version of the game with some different, occasionally considered easier aspects. We need to cancel out modding entirely! That's smart, right? NO. Guess what you end up missing out on? Custom Maps, many of which would probably be made from the start to be apocalyptic, unlike Chernarus.Custom Weapons, for those who do not like the arsenal available by release.Custom Mechanics, such as an even harsher environment or Stalker-style blowouts, etc etcCustom Clothes, for those who think the cosmetic area may be lacking by release.Modified Loot Tables, for those who want more or less.Yeah, man! Lets cut off custom maps, custom weapons, mechanics, clothes, and the ability to fine tune how much shit is in your modded out DayZ world because, oh no, Overpoch! We can't have that! No. Modding is never a bad thing, ever. -

CS:S is modded to hell. CS:GO, not so much. This is in my opinion is a design flaw. Any game that does not have modding capabilities is, well, flawed. Why? You're cutting off the fucking community from endless bucketloads of free community produced content. How the fuck can that be a bad thing? Oh, no! People will make PVP focused DayZ gamemodes! Aaaah! Who gives a shit. You don't have to play every single mod. You can stick with vanilla, you can play something made to be harder. There might be less on these servers but you guys act as if they will be empty. Plus, you say that you'll all be 'forced' to go to these 'worst' servers. Just go on the ones you enjoy and populate them. Put some effort into getting others to play. Open your own! Modding is never a bad thing, ever. -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

Why? Why not have 'assault variety of weapons?' You can have both civilian weapons and 'tactical' weapons. They can coexist. They're both effective, too, a bullet is a bullet - It kills. -

I simply want there to be as many weapons and calibers as possible by release or late Beta, not now in Alpha. -

This is a PC game. Modding is nearly a requirement, especially for a game based off of a mod in the first place. -

No, sorry. Let's hope it doesn't stay that way. Why? Private servers will eventually allow modding. If modding is never added, Rocket and Bohemia can kiss my candy ass, because I will never support them again. When they allow modding, guess what would be nice to do? To make servers with either lower loot spawn rates or, well, the obvious higher loot spawn rates. I'd love to be able to play a custom version of the game where, say, there is a lot less bullets, a lot less food, and a lot more challenge. I wouldn't be able to do this if, you know, you got your way. I know what you fear - The DayZ Mod servers. We all fear that, but, really, this is a fucking video game and people will make it into easy mode if they want. Just wait for the more rare hardcore servers when we reach that era in a few years... -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
hannibaldaplaya replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
No gun is a bad choice, if the devs don't go with a fucktarded mindset that one gun is a 'plus' and a 'minus' at the same time. You can have more then one type of weapon in a video game. Easily. They can have 30 bolt actions, 30 assault rifles, 30 shotguns, 30 pistols, 30 semi-automatics, 10 lever actions (much more narrow range of weaponry), and 30 submachine guns. Will this 'unbalance' the game in any way? Hell fucking no. Just add a small chance guns spawn with their magazines, the only problem the loot tables give us. Expand calibers for a more diverse loot table, as well, and you will have a game where you're probably going to find a different weapon everytime. You'll bounce from gun to gun depending on what you find. Finding a gun shouldn't be easy, there should just be a large variety of them. It will make the game inherently better. More people have their 'dream gun' in the game and you get to use more then the drab and drag mosin or AKM we've all gotten very used to. -

hannibaldaplaya replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Why the hell should any gun be a "plus" and a "minus"? They can add as many as they fucking want. Oh, the Spas-12 and Saiga are slightly similar! Despite being two incredibly different guns. One is magazine fed. Both look 'oh so tactical'. So what? Add them both. They're both shotguns that you may find in an apocalyptic scenario. While you're at it, add other weapons that fit the role. Create a vast, wide variety of weapons in every single fucking category. The game shouldn't wimp out and have us 'argue' over adding guns. If the gun exists and isn't some super rarity, add it into the game if there is time. The devs shouldn't leave modders to pick up the fucking work and make huge gun packs, but it seems like that is what they are going to do. Adding more guns only expands the loot tables and thus makes them better and more diverse. If its a gun and it could even possibly be there, add it. -

hannibaldaplaya replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
My point is simple and straight forward. Insult me all you want. You already have the closeminded viewset that all 'tactical' weapons should be excluded anyway, so nothing you say really matters to me. Its clear you're too far off to realize that you can't just have a one-sided arsenal of weapons in a game like this. 'Civilian' and 'military' weapons can easily coexist. None of them are 'overpowered'. All guns, in essence, are 'overpowered.' Why? A headshot kills. Instantly, if there is no protection. A 9mm or a 5.56 or a .338 Lapua, it will do all the same if it hits you dead center in your skull. Any bullet can kill anybody. Some are just better at it then others. Some guns can shoot faster, farther, all of that, but they can all kill you. A bolt action can take out two guys with assault rifles, depending on the scenario. The mindset that 'tactical' weapons don't fit and are somehow inherently better then 'civilian' armaments is silly. -

hannibaldaplaya replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Then why not add all of them? Seriously. Lets have Spas-12, Saiga, Benelli. Why exclude any guns from being added to the game? Surely, with all the money the developers have for DayZ, much of it continuing to pile in, they can afford to offer a vast and wide amount of weapons in their game by the time beta is wrapping to an end. Exclude no items. Ever. ADD THEM ALL. -

hannibaldaplaya replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Fuck off. You do nothing to help the game. If they were to add as many guns as humanly possible, thus diversifying the weapon loot tables, who gives a shit if there is 50 'assault' weapons and 100 'civilian' weapons? Add the Spas-12. Why? It's a gun. Its feasibly possible it could be somewhere in Chernarus. Plus, shotguns aren't as effective as, say, an assault fucking rifle. -
Master List of Equipable Items the Community Wants in the Game
hannibaldaplaya replied to - Karma -'s topic in Suggestions
More items make the loot tables worse? Are you fucking serious? No, more items make the loot tables better. Why? The loot tables become more diverse. You see different weapons and items every time you play. Just because you can't get your dream gun as easy as you'd like to doesn't make that a wide variety of items is a bad thing. They should be aiming to add every gun and ammunition HUMANLY POSSIBLE. Not this 7.62x51 for mosin bullshit. 7.62x54R and 7.62x51 are two entirely different rounds. Why isn't one in the game? If there is a weapon that isn't in the game that can be added, add it. Don't give a shit about the loot tables - More items only makes it better, more diverse. As long as they make most guns with magazines have a chance of spawning with one, there will be literally no issues. So, add all they want! I don't understand your logic here. I will suggest literally every single gun humanly possible until there is so many in the game I'm not wondering why there isn't one in the game. -
New Ammo Type:7.62 tokarev and the tt33 ppsh41 and the c96
hannibaldaplaya replied to agouti's topic in Suggestions
So. Fucking. What. That's a good thing. Fuck this game's current caliber work. Lets get proper calibers and shit. 7.62x54R, not 7.62x51 for a mosin. Lets get 9x18 for the Makarov. Hey, guess what, guns like the Bizon use 9x18 too! Keep 9x19 for more modern 9mm weapons like the CZ75 and MP5. While you're at it, add every caliber possible. Make SEVERAL revolvers. Why only have one? .44, .357, .38, .32. Lets see them all. 12 gauge buckshot, slugs, yes, please. How about some .308? 30-06? Lets put them all in. Every round possible should be in the game and every gun possible should be in the game. A post apocalyptic sandbox should have barely any limits in terms of what the hell you can find. -

Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
hannibaldaplaya replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Wow, alright. This logic is fucked up. Why should someone have to pay excessively more just to have their server private if what is needed to run it is just a tiny bit more then normal? You're promoting artificial price inflation. Shame on you. -
Agreed. Good luck populating these 'Special Servers'... even if you get it full, its numbers will go down quick.

These prices are fucking ridiculous and unacceptable. If we could host our own servers it would be cheaper to buy a PC for it then 2 - 3 of private hosting... -
