Seems legit, are players already hacking?
hannibaldaplaya replied to exurok's topic in General Discussion
You can find Mosin ammunition in residential areas. -
In my experiences, the FNX45 has been more reliable at the M4A1 at distance. This is a bit.. odd. Let me compare two experiences I had in the SA, one which I effectively used the FNX45 to take out another player without having to use more then three bullets, while another where my initial "surprise" shots with my M4A1 seem to spread out and not hit the target, despite being rather close and having my ACOG scope right on the target. EXPERIENCE #1 Weapon; M4A1 Now, I'm not mad I died in this experience, as I did bite off a bit too much to chew, but the main point here is that despite my ACOG sight, being prone, and having a clear shot at the target, it took a few tries to even take 1 down. I had heard gunfire in one of the apartment complex type cities outside of Cherno, so I got into the tree line and sneaked my way towards them. I find myself right outside the Supermarket store thing, watching from the trees as I prone down and watch as zombies fall dead after bursts of gunfire. Thinking it is only one player, and seeing him as he walks past the window, I wait for him to exit. He will be leaving, unless he decides to server hop, but since he is at a Supermarket I don't expect this. Eventually, he leaves the store, and I see he's with another guy. Weighing my advantages- Cover, Surprise, etc- I decide to fire. After one of them stops for a moment, I get my sight on them, making sure I have the shot, and I fire, in a small burst. This doesn't appear to hit him, and if it did, it wasn't doing much. This is when the third guy comes, and the confusion sets in. They run to a shed, thinking they're getting shot at from the Supermarket or behind them, basically giving me the best shot imaginable. They all clump up inside that shed, open to me, and I fire, right into it, but somehow, I don't hit a single one of them. Next, one guy runs to the Supermarket, and I fire at him as he does. When he stops to crouch behind "cover", I easily take him out as his supposed cover isn't going to work for someone on a hill, behind the trees, prone and firing at some confused (yet fully geared) players. The next guy, like, shoots at me, and I get hit. So I bandage myself, and in the corner of my eye, he literally just stares at me from a car. Like, "Hey, man, I'm going to let you bandage, then we'll gunfight yo." After bandaging myself, I spaz click the M4A1 toolbar button, and it takes like a total of 15 seconds to get it out. Going prone again, I fire at the guy behind the car, thinking I hit him, before the last player flanks me and shoots me in the back. As you can see from this experience, the M4A1's apparent spread prevented me from easily thinning out their numbers and threw away my main advantage. Had I had a mosin or a pistol on me, I'm pretty sure taking out the first guy would have been a lot easier, though the M4A1 does hold up in actual combat. EXPERIENCE #2 Weapon: FNX45 Me and my friend are securing Elektro on a server, waiting for my friend. We both have mosins, pistols, all of that good stuff. As we walk around, looting a bit, anxiously awaiting our ally, my friend spots a guy go into the Firestation. Knowing he only has one way to exit, we get into position, hide behind some cover, peak our heads out, make sure our guns are loaded, and wait. Eventually, he comes out, and decides to check out the corpse on the ground outside the gates, which is a blessing in disguise, as it literally distracts him long enough for me to accurately pump 3 bullets into his back, killing him. Proud of my accuracy, me and my friend run up to his body and loot his corpse. He had a vest, camoflauge, etcetera. He was decked out, clothes / armor wise, and had an M4A1, but he lacked ammunition. Later, our friend came, took the M4A1, and we ran off to try and get to Balota, only for us to split up a bit and for me to get shot in the woods as I waited for my friend to grab a PU scope he supposedly saw in a building nearby. As you can see, the FNX45 took out a player from quite a distance. I was surprised the shot even hit, and if it hadn't been for my friend and our expendable ammunition, I would have probably hesitated. Fortunately, I did not, and easily shot him down. If I had the M4A1, since it was actually a lot farther of a distance then in EXPERIENCE #1, I'm pretty sure I would have only grazed him with the first few shots. BTW I KNOW THIS IS ALPHA I also heard that the M4A1 has a weird amount of spread, is this the problem?

FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?
hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I didn't set my zeroing, I was simply on top of a hill, laying prone, firing from the tree lines at people near a Supermarket that was close enough for me to easily see what they looked like, what they had, etcetera. It seemed as if the spread is what fucked me over, because I did eventually hit one of them, its just the fact when I hit was a bit random. -
FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?
hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I did have an ACOG, but I lacked a Bipod or Foregrip. The problem is, should I require those to hit another player from barely any distance, while laying prone? I had him right in my sights, I shot, and it didn't appear to even graze him.. -
FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?
hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
The problem is, this was at RELATIVELY CLOSE RANGE. I wasn't shooting at them from end to the city to another. If I have a screenshot of where I am, I'll try to get it. It was literally in range where I should have been easily able to hit one of them, who was standing still, while prone with a pristine M4A1. The fact I hit another guy from a slightly farther range with an FNX45 and killed him in 3 shots shows that the pistol is just, well, more accurate. -
I've found them in- FirestationsThe top floor of that one building with storage areas and stuff that has like a roof at the top and has a Military spawn in the room at the top floor

Do not implement features that punish KoS in some stupid karma sort of way!
hannibaldaplaya posted a topic in General Discussion
I keep on hearing people shout, "Add a karma system thing that punishes players for KoS and rewards players for heroism!", and I keep thinking to myself, uh, NO? Why would we want a system that punishes players for their fucking playstyles? Plus, a "karma" system / whatever would be so difficult for the developers to make, as there is literally NO WAY to figure out if a player legitimately killed someone. Players would get punished for defending themselves! We do not need features that directly punish KoS. Wait for zeds to be a threat. Then, players will think twice about firing guns as they will fear zeds swarming their position.- 48 replies

Right now, you can't carry that many rifles on you in DayZ. So, when you encounter another rifle, you either switch it out for your current one or just leave it be. This is good! In other survival games, they have made it so guns are like any other fucking item and only take up one slot. If I were to play Nether, or Rust, or any other survival game mmo thing out there other then DayZ, I could have ten rifles in my inventory. There is no reason to NOT leave a gun for someone else to take, when you can fit it into your backpack (somehow). The only guns you can carry tons of in DayZ are pistols, which is useful if you want to grab your friend a gun incase you meet up. Other then that, if you find 3 M4A1s in a camp, you can only really take 1. In the other games listed above, you can take all fucking 3. Lets keep it this way- Its realistic and prevents people from taking every single gun they find, allowing other players to find weapons and have a chance against other players.

Right now, finding loot is very simple. You got to a location, you scavenge it, you leave. Chances are, if you go to a warehouse, you'll find warehouse things, if you go to a military camp, you'll find military things. This is all fine and dandy until you realize how redundant it is to find the same guns, ammunition, cosmetics, and other useful / useless stuff in certain buildings. The Firestation is currently the biggest offender. Everytime I would go to a Firestation anywhere on the map, I'd always find the same things, if noone had got to the place before me- Pistols, on the bottom floor near the stairwell, also on the second floor, and sometimes the top floor.Magazines, also on the bottom floor near the stairwell, sometimes on the second floor.Chest Holsters, on the bottom floor near the stairwell and the first floor.Gas lamps, in the large, open bottom floor space.Gasmasks, bottom floor open space, and the first floor.Assorted camoflauge, second floor.After I started noticing these patterns in what I would fine, I decided to do a test, which you can do yourself if you're not worried about getting killed as you log in by someone else or want to be a purist with your character, but since this is alpha testing, I decided to go a bit more in depth with what I was seeing. I logged off inside the Firestation, logged onto a near empty server, and looked around. Didn't take anything, just looked. Sure enough, the same items were in the same general area. There was no apparent "rare" spawns, just the same items. Sure, sometimes there would be no magazines, or two magnums, or one pistol, or two gasmasks, but it wasn't spawning anything else other then the specific items, and it was keeping with the specific areas that I listed above. What the game needs is loot that is a bit more diverse. This will probably come as more weapons, and thus more ammunition, is created. I hope the Firestation, as the game progresses, is a bit less dull with what it spawns. If I want a pistol, I go to a Firestation, but I don't expect anything else. It is always good to have more items spawning in areas so that there is a reason to loot the place. Once the game gets to the point where looting each and every building is smart and can yield valuable items, we will be in the green. BTW This isn't a complaint, just a suggestion / sharing of what I've discovered in-game

Duo Blackrose's list of pistols

We do need more variety when it comes to Pistols, and SMG's would be nice. -
Lack of diversity with Loot
hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
So I don't have the right to make a thread posting a NON HOSTILE suggestion / test of mine? For an Alpha game? You're really ignorant. This is in ALPHA. Everything is being tested that is implemented so far. -
ok so here i mapped out what it is like in the dayz world for everyone so ass you can see the little red faces are you guys all lonely and the red circled areas is where all the other bottoms are

Uh, dumbass, look at this- Did you even read the thread? Its a SUGGESTION / SHARING OF WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED IN GAME. Not a complaint. THIS IS ALPHA. ALPHA MEANS PLAYERS SHOULD SHARE AND REPORT ISSUES THEY HAVE WITH THE GAME. -
Barns appear to have no loot whenever I encounter them
hannibaldaplaya posted a topic in General Discussion
Is this just me getting unlucky, or a loot bug? I never find ANYTHING in Barns. They're empty. Not even a damn book. -
Happened to me. Some guy was blasting annoying music on his mic and kicked everyone who joined.

hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I'll be laughing when you find yourself actually dying to zombies. What you are saying is absurd. The developers have made it clear that they are looking to make zombies an actual threat, by upping the amount of them and improving their AI. By the time the game is released, we'll be able to actually sneak past them and we'll actually fear firing the loudest of guns. -

hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
As updates are released, zombies will be a fucking threat. Right now they aren't because they are buggy and can be easily taken out with an axe. Your logic is flawed- As time goes on, zombies will become more of a problem that the players will have to deal with. If the developers weren't planning on this, they'd just remove the zombies and make this a gigantic player interaction survival arena. -

You do realize that this is Alpha, and the number of zombies and their pathing and stuff will be increased drastically as time goes on? The zeds will become more of a threat, trust me. -

hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. A system like that is borderline retarded. Say I shoot someone, because I don't want him looting a building that may have a weapon or ammunition in it. I'm making sure that guy doesn't become a threat, and I'm securing that loot. Should I be punished for making that decision? No. -

Say you have an M4A1, a few magazines, and you encounter another player. He doesn't see you. He's looting carefully, his melee is the only thing out, and he doesn't APPEAR to have a gun. The problem is, the town you're in is full of zeds. You've been sneaking through, trying to use your melee quickly and quietly so you don't get yourself attention from another player. Now, you could fire your M4A1, pump a bullet into this fellows skull, but the shots are going to help the zeds get to you, which is going to end up wasting your ammunition, time, and also reveal your position to other players. Its a hard choice, isn't it? -

hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
When zeds are polished and more are added, there will be literally NO reason for this karma bullshit. Players who kill those unarmed will risk their lives by firing off a loud ass round, which will attract zeds to their position, thus making people think about who to engage. Plus, this is DayZ. You're supposed to be scared of the other players, and you need to always be careful. Just because you got sniped running down Balota airfield or down the road to Cherno doesn't mean someone was being a griefer, it may be due to the fact they kind of want to keep the loot to themselves and are getting rid of you incase you do get armed in the area and pose more of a threat to them. -

Most of the time I track groups from the shadows, hiding in the tree line, I get bored and just open fire on them and see if I can take the 2 or 3 of them. xD What players don't realize is that this game would be nothing without PVP. PVP is what makes this game an adrenaline pumping experience, one where you actually get a bit shakey and riled up during a gunfight, where you end up being careful, slow, and quiet with what you do, where you end up becoming fearful of the sounds you hear. Hearing someone on a microphone in a place like Balota is chilling, especially in the camp, as you know that there is someone there and you are in an area where getting ambushed is easy. I was recently in a gunfight at Balota, was only passing through to get to a friend, when I was shot at by an M4A1. Every shot missed, and I got to cover. I had a mosin, and after a bit of nervously waiting for someone to pop out, I realized I wasn't the only one engaged in this. Another player was up on a hill, which I could see, firing at something. I had found myself in a gunfight consisting of 3 players, all hostile to each other. So I shot, and I'm pretty sure I took him down, if I didn't kill him he was probably hurting. The other player got me as I made a dash to get into the nearest house, and my back was sprayed with 5.56mm bullets and I found myself dead. It was quite the experience. Didn't care about my loot, had a lot of fun! -

There isn't, but idiots are pushing for it everytime they get shot by some guy in Balota.
