    Reality Virtual Engine-Bad for DayZ

    The only problem I have with the engine is the clunky movement, terrible melee, and general lack of "control" when it comes to moving your character.
  2. So logging out to avoid other players is totally legit. It isn't like in a real apocalypse you can't just hop to another universe to avoid some douchebags. Right?
  3. THE ZOMBIE WAS BELOW ME! It was hitting me from the bottom floor while I was on the top floor, while I was bandaging! Your logic / counter to my points is just absurd. I had a weapon, when did I say otherwise? I had a crowbar and didn't want to spend 5 minutes on a zombie, so I went upstairs to logically loot the place before taking the problem outside. I expect more from you. I agree with every post you make, but it isn't because the zombies aren't that hard. Its because it was hitting me from a floor underneath me. I couldn't even see it, yet I was getting hit. How is that not some sort of super power?

    If anyone needs to respawn,

    whats so cheaty about losing all your shit o - o
  5. There was one problem with vehicles in the mod. Anyone could shoot down your vehicle in a few seconds with an assault rifle. This causes balance issues, and I'm pretty sure isn't realistic unless you hit specific parts. There should be a few specific ways to take a vehicle out: Kill the Driver. The most obvious thing to do. Shoot the driver, once he's dead, he can't keep driving. Viola. Shoot out the tires. The car is going to slow down or halt. Makes it easier for you to do step 1 or catch up. Destroy the vehicle by firing at the engine or another spot which makes sense.This also allows players to spend extra time protecting their vulnerabilities while driving by taking protective measures such as; Reinforcing the side windows and such with metal and other things to make it a tad harder for the attackers to shoot down the driver. Having extra tires onboard or reinforcing the tires to withstand more damage. Reinforcing spots on the vehicle that may be exploited to completely fuck up your vehicle.Plus, there needs to be some things you can do in vehicles that make sense, as a person inside one; We should be able to duck down. This way, players who are riding in a vehicle can duck down and make themselves less exposed to gunfire. We should be able to jump out. If a passenger wants to get the fuck out of there, potentially saving his life but perhaps injuring him, he should be able to exit while the vehicle is moving, jumping out and hopefully landing somewhere soft. Perhaps, a player who jumps has a chance to break their legs? Passengers should be able to lean out of the vehicle or fire from the windows. This may seem silly, but its realistic. Passengers should also suffer accuracy losses as they are moving and are not in a position where its easy to aim.What do you guys think?

    When vehicles / cars are added.. Vehicle Damage Balance?

    Still, it could be useful. What if you're getting shot at from the front? Ducking. From the side? Players may shoot at the windows, mainly. Ducking is still useful and since I can do it real life, I should be able to do it in game.
  7. I hope these will come during late Beta or at Retail Release, as allowing players to create custom maps for their PRIVATE hives would be a fantastic idea. Players who get sick of Chernarus can hop onto a custom server, with a custom map, and have a refreshing experience. I'd love to make a map with very few trees, set in the Winter, where you're more likely to find little towns then big cities. Bunkers, Military Installations, and such would be the only hotspots as the map would consist of snowy, ruined towns, connected by roads. Throw in an iced over, freezing river, if possible, and you'd have yourself a desolate, cold experience. Throw in temperature and the need to stay warm and it forces players to make camps and fires (when thats implemented) meaning that you're not going to be moving much unless you're bundled up. I'd make it so that the city like buildings would be spread apart, as well. So you'd go to a small town, with scattered houses a long the road, and perhaps one school building or supermarket. Small towns would have buildings that could yield valuable loot, but only a few of them would. This would make it so players would stop as smaller towns more often, and there would be less "deathzones." The military installations would have only a few barracks, tents, and such, making it so you don't just load up on 500 bullets and two M4A1's along with tons of camouflage. Also, will we be seeing more maps in the future? Chernarus is swell, but it can get boring after a while. In the mod, you had options, such as Namalsk. Right now, we're limited to Chernarus. There are plenty of Arma 2 / Mod maps they could port, though they'd have to go through the process of making the buildings enterable and making them a bit more apocalyptic.

    Why they need to fix zoom (in conjuction with FOV)

    I edited my post, please read. Sorry, I misunderstood what was being shown.

    Why they need to fix zoom (in conjuction with FOV)

    Don't have a narrow FOV? Take away my FOV options and I will put your head on a pike. I want to play at 110 - 120 FOV because that is my preference. I love that shit. EDIT: Misread the thread. Oops. This needs fixed.

    Its mainly because people just want things to argue about, imo

    Dean "Rocket" Hall, may I ask a Favor?

    (PROBABLY) No. You can easily get a PC for a decent price that can handle this game, as long as you make sure to get a set of specifications that the engine currently knows how to use correctly. Plus, the control layout and other complexities of this game make it nearly impossible. The game would have to be streamlined in terms of movement controls and inventory controls. Throw in how inaccurate a controller is with aiming, and you have yet another problem. So, yeah, probably not.

    Unarmed / Low Tier Melee Players not Listening to Armed Guys

    Except we're talking about bandits mugging / holding up people and resorting to shoot a player when they don't cooperate.

    Unarmed / Low Tier Melee Players not Listening to Armed Guys

    I'm not on a powertrip... I simply held up the guy instead of killing him, and it ended in me killing him because he wouldn't cooperate.
  14. Now, the reason I am asking is that I know DayZ and Arma 2 are games that handle your specifications in quite a weird manner, so I want to know what the best possible specs to get would be for my new PC. I need specs that not only handle DayZ SA and Arma 2 at a good framerate, but specs that also handle most games at a good framerate as well. My budget is around $1000, and I'd just like to know your recommendations. I currently run the game at decent framerate, but it tanks in cities and makes PVP near impossible if I'm attacked. I've also been planning to get a new and better PC, so now is the time to make sure my desired specs can handle what I want to play. Suggestions?
  15. This is WAY too common, especially when you factor in zeds that can hit you while facing the other way. This forces you to take the time to tear up your shirt, slowly bandage yourself up after clicking use several times to get it to work, and really doesn't make sense. When I'm bashing at a zed with a shovel, it shouldn't be able to slash at me, its attacks should be interrupted if I am the one who hits first. Plus, bleeding occurs almost everytime I'm hit. Am I just unlucky?
  16. Uh, be careful. A player could easily come and wreak havoc. Are you going to have armed guards to take out any hostile geared players?
  17. hannibaldaplaya

    Possible map expansion ?

    I hope they add map editing as the first thing you can modify, so that we can get community made maps and stuff like that.

    Dual wield

    So? You can dual wield in real life, it just isn't accurate for shit. Its like a stupid, badass looking gimmick that is going to get you killed! :D
  19. hannibaldaplaya

    Dual wield

    Make it so they're incredibly inaccurate and deal. You can do it in real life, so, why not? Have fun cocking the two revolvers back, lol.

    Rocket has some fun on New Years?

    ... I saw the same message, but I didn't receive any sounds..

    Seems legit, are players already hacking?

    You can find Mosin ammunition in residential areas.

    FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?

    In my experiences, the FNX45 has been more reliable at the M4A1 at distance. This is a bit.. odd. Let me compare two experiences I had in the SA, one which I effectively used the FNX45 to take out another player without having to use more then three bullets, while another where my initial "surprise" shots with my M4A1 seem to spread out and not hit the target, despite being rather close and having my ACOG scope right on the target. EXPERIENCE #1 Weapon; M4A1 Now, I'm not mad I died in this experience, as I did bite off a bit too much to chew, but the main point here is that despite my ACOG sight, being prone, and having a clear shot at the target, it took a few tries to even take 1 down. I had heard gunfire in one of the apartment complex type cities outside of Cherno, so I got into the tree line and sneaked my way towards them. I find myself right outside the Supermarket store thing, watching from the trees as I prone down and watch as zombies fall dead after bursts of gunfire. Thinking it is only one player, and seeing him as he walks past the window, I wait for him to exit. He will be leaving, unless he decides to server hop, but since he is at a Supermarket I don't expect this. Eventually, he leaves the store, and I see he's with another guy. Weighing my advantages- Cover, Surprise, etc- I decide to fire. After one of them stops for a moment, I get my sight on them, making sure I have the shot, and I fire, in a small burst. This doesn't appear to hit him, and if it did, it wasn't doing much. This is when the third guy comes, and the confusion sets in. They run to a shed, thinking they're getting shot at from the Supermarket or behind them, basically giving me the best shot imaginable. They all clump up inside that shed, open to me, and I fire, right into it, but somehow, I don't hit a single one of them. Next, one guy runs to the Supermarket, and I fire at him as he does. When he stops to crouch behind "cover", I easily take him out as his supposed cover isn't going to work for someone on a hill, behind the trees, prone and firing at some confused (yet fully geared) players. The next guy, like, shoots at me, and I get hit. So I bandage myself, and in the corner of my eye, he literally just stares at me from a car. Like, "Hey, man, I'm going to let you bandage, then we'll gunfight yo." After bandaging myself, I spaz click the M4A1 toolbar button, and it takes like a total of 15 seconds to get it out. Going prone again, I fire at the guy behind the car, thinking I hit him, before the last player flanks me and shoots me in the back. As you can see from this experience, the M4A1's apparent spread prevented me from easily thinning out their numbers and threw away my main advantage. Had I had a mosin or a pistol on me, I'm pretty sure taking out the first guy would have been a lot easier, though the M4A1 does hold up in actual combat. EXPERIENCE #2 Weapon: FNX45 Me and my friend are securing Elektro on a server, waiting for my friend. We both have mosins, pistols, all of that good stuff. As we walk around, looting a bit, anxiously awaiting our ally, my friend spots a guy go into the Firestation. Knowing he only has one way to exit, we get into position, hide behind some cover, peak our heads out, make sure our guns are loaded, and wait. Eventually, he comes out, and decides to check out the corpse on the ground outside the gates, which is a blessing in disguise, as it literally distracts him long enough for me to accurately pump 3 bullets into his back, killing him. Proud of my accuracy, me and my friend run up to his body and loot his corpse. He had a vest, camoflauge, etcetera. He was decked out, clothes / armor wise, and had an M4A1, but he lacked ammunition. Later, our friend came, took the M4A1, and we ran off to try and get to Balota, only for us to split up a bit and for me to get shot in the woods as I waited for my friend to grab a PU scope he supposedly saw in a building nearby. As you can see, the FNX45 took out a player from quite a distance. I was surprised the shot even hit, and if it hadn't been for my friend and our expendable ammunition, I would have probably hesitated. Fortunately, I did not, and easily shot him down. If I had the M4A1, since it was actually a lot farther of a distance then in EXPERIENCE #1, I'm pretty sure I would have only grazed him with the first few shots. BTW I KNOW THIS IS ALPHA I also heard that the M4A1 has a weird amount of spread, is this the problem?

    FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?

    I didn't set my zeroing, I was simply on top of a hill, laying prone, firing from the tree lines at people near a Supermarket that was close enough for me to easily see what they looked like, what they had, etcetera. It seemed as if the spread is what fucked me over, because I did eventually hit one of them, its just the fact when I hit was a bit random.

    FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?

    I did have an ACOG, but I lacked a Bipod or Foregrip. The problem is, should I require those to hit another player from barely any distance, while laying prone? I had him right in my sights, I shot, and it didn't appear to even graze him..

    FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?

    The problem is, this was at RELATIVELY CLOSE RANGE. I wasn't shooting at them from end to the city to another. If I have a screenshot of where I am, I'll try to get it. It was literally in range where I should have been easily able to hit one of them, who was standing still, while prone with a pristine M4A1. The fact I hit another guy from a slightly farther range with an FNX45 and killed him in 3 shots shows that the pistol is just, well, more accurate.
