Oh fun - all geared up 12 hours ago, now naked. Fun.

.. its that time of the month for you, isn't it?

    Why are 22's such shit

I shot some .22's today. They are fairly accurate, reliable guns. Of course, its a small bullet, but it is still a bullet. Most kevlar will deflect it, helmets will help too, but getting shot is getting shot. Especially if a .22 hits you in the head. You would probably be dead. The bullet would bounce around in your skull and rip apart your brain.
  3. The DayZ Mod is a clear showcase of what can go wrong when you give players the ability to change the starting loadout, spawnrate of loot, and the ability to spawn in items. Private Hives on the mod ruined the game for me. Why? So many servers with SELF BLOODBAG - 5000000000 VEHICOOLS - 204032350 HELICOPTAS - SPAWN WITH SNIPER & NVG. So many of them. All near full. Barely ANY vanilla servers, on the public hive, that had players. Throw in the fact that server owners end up selling gear to their players, spawning in weapons and items for them if they get some real life money in return, and you have a problem. Donating to many servers results in pay2win style advantages. A good bit of mod servers do this. Though I love giving the community the option to modify the game, I'd like the plague of Private Hives like the ones in the mod that frankly took a shit on the purpose of the game to be avoided this time around.

    Suggestion - Map Markers

Oh, thank god, I thought you meant a literal arrow on your screen that directs you to an area with the amount of meters away it is and everything. Adding pen-drawn markers to maps? Actually sounds cool.

    No firearms.

The poll options are narrow and biased. Where is the "Improved melee, large variety of guns, rare ammunition" option? You basically made anyone who voted Yes to guns in your poll look like some filthy casual who enjoys things being easy...

    Never the right ammunition...

The server was mid-full. This was on Experimental, night-time, too. I could barely see. I was using a headtorch. Other then that, I was wearing a leather jacket and no pants, it was fucking glorious.

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

Once you give modders the ability to really change the game, sure, you get SOME good things, but a good bit of the time it ends up turning the game into something it isn't. Admin tools, such as the ability to ban / kick, are commonly abused and can really ruin a player's session, especially if he was doing nothing wrong. Plus, a modder could make some sort of overpowered weapon for himself and his server, making it only spawn on his loadout. Sort of like 2bit's sexy gun in Garry's Mod, a hilarious OP gun that alt-fires rockets and is 100% accurate and deals 100000 damage per shot. In other games, modding can be great, but in this game, there will be a lot of modders who will just make the game easier, knowing more players will just abandon the harshness of vanilla to go to a server where you don't really have to work for anything. Though I enjoy Garry's Mod and the modded gamemodes, a lot of them pull bullshit in order to make money. Everyone hates microtransactions and pay2win policies in games, but apparently people like you support server owners charging for advantages on a game that they didn't even create. All they are doing is hosting the server, really. Plus, big servers end up getting so much money in donations it becomes less of a "INCOME 4 OUR SURVIVAL" and more of a "INCOME 4 MY PRIVATE STASH OF STEAM GAMES AND LUXURIES OH YES" Trust me, just look at some of the PERPs. The guy who has the rights to that keeps others out of the gamemode by DDOSing and filing copyright claims on them, unless they pay him off. The PERP servers that actually get to live, by either paying the guy off or avoiding his attempts to shut them down, make TONS OF MONEY in donations. Why? They limit normal features for people who have not invested into the server. Cars, guns, crafting recipes, all locked away unless you pay the owner a good bit of cash. Plus, most of these servers have the option to pay real life money for ingame money. In short, people who "donate" to game servers usually get an unfair and ridiculous advantage over normal players. I was on a DarkRP where donators could super jump over fences. He abused this to jump over our defenses, instantly kill both of our surprised guards with an AK47, and then raid our base, adding a few guns and a few printers and a few thousands to his millions. Now, in those gamemodes, there is nothing you can do about it, and they're not trying to SIMULATE something, either. They are silly gamemodes, most of them relying on grind-style systems to keep players playing. DayZ is a whole different type of game, and allowing server owners to sell advantages to their players will completely shit on the experience. On less serious gamemodes where dying means a lot less, it is fine- Though you still feel cheated, its nothing like getting sniped by a guy you just killed who spawns back in with a god damn DMR.

Yeah, the only thing I think we should see from the community, mod-wise is: MAPS

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

How can you tell that a person is "crying" when they are typing out a coherent response on a keyboard. You seem to belittle anyone who thinks that pay2win donator incentives are something that we shouldn't have in DayZ is just a crybaby and needs to go on another server. Though, what is the point with replying to you anymore? We're just feeding the fire. You're obviously too stubborn to acknowledge any of our points. You are wrapped around your shallow defense, all cozy. There is no getting you off of that. Also, for someone who says we are "crying" about this, you do seem to respond to this thread VERY quickly. For someone who apparently doesn't care and thinks we are just a bunch of crybabies without any points other then our unmanly tears, you have been spending an awful lot of time in this thread, despite doing nothing but replying to people and telling them to stop their "QQ".

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

I'd be fine if he had any actual points for private hives that do this kind of stuff. He is literally supporting servers that remove all challenge out of the game with one statement- "You can't tell people how to play or how to run their server they spent their hard-earned moneys on!" Suuuure. Except for the fact that having players spawn in with sniper rifles and allowing them to find a helicopter every 5 meters spits on the whole point of the game... Oh, throw in the fact that donator incentives can screw other players over. Having it so you can give $25 for a spawn loadout with an assault rifle and tons of steaks allows players with more real life dough to have advantages over players with less real life dough, which isn't fair. Admin abuse becomes a problem, too, when the staff can get rid of another player who bests them in combat with a simple ban. Overall, it isn't a fun experience.
  13. Until they add stats, there is not even an e-penis factor to surviving for a long time, because you can't track it. So you can just pull shit up your ass. Noone will believe you, and your virtual DayZ survival cock will be invisible to everyone but yourself. Which is REALLY sad.

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

Instead of reading his points and trying to debunk them you reply with yet another insult, attempting to make someone who wrote well-thought out points on the pros and cons of private hives appear as if they are some sort of "crybaby". If you really can't disprove any of their claims, why reply in the first place with something so immature? It just makes you look bad, and the mix of numbers in your name doesn't help, either.

    Oh hackers.....

The stair bug "bit" you. You later died of glitch malaria, approximately 0.000000000000000000000002 seconds after. Very sad tale.

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

Except, that would require me to spend more of my money to play the game it was meant to be played... not everyone can afford to run their own server and have a "utopia" in their eyes. Sorry, pal, welcome to the world. Not everyone has cash to throw around.

Replace "Hands" with two Hand slots

I think it would be handy if we could have a pistol, or a weapon that can be held and used with one hand (though it would be a lot less accurate / stable), while holding something else in your other hand. You could, say, have a pistol at hand while carrying the bag of someone who you had just shot after he opened fire at you, then haul that bag to your pal to give it to him. Plus, you can do this IRL. I say we replace the hands system with a R hand and L hand system, like Project Zomboid currently has. Weapons that require both hands will take up both hand slots, while weapons like pistols and knives will take up one. Though more animations would be needed for this, it would allow dual wielding and other creative things for players to do with their hands. Though dual wielding may seem silly, remember- It makes you a hell of a lot less accurate, sacrificing that for the badass effect and double mag size, though reloading with both hands occupied is a hassle.

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

This isn't a QQ thread. I'm worried that what happened to the mod will happen to the SA. DayZ is meant to be an authentic zombie apocalypse survival simulator. People buy it for fun, but it does not need to be easy to be fun. If you want it to be easy so it can be fun for you, you are playing the wrong game. Surviving is fun, tense gunfights are fun, dying can even be fun. Everything is tense, harsh, and out to get you. This should not change. What will make it change? Private Hives with the logic of "Lets make everything super easy and not challenging at all."

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

The problem is, private hives inflate the server market and there will be NO VANILLA SERVERS left for me to play on. Which throws my enjoyment out of the water. Plus, if you bought DayZ, you should be looking for a challenge. I guess hacking, server hopping, combat logging, and ghosting are okay, because people enjoy playing the game that way? Also, you use the f-word way too often. Yet again, this makes you appear hostile. Instead of being civil, you remain a tone of anger and stubborn-ness. I guess you enjoy logging onto a server to find a DMR and a Ghillie Suit already on your character, despite having just joined? Isn't that fun, removing one of the main features of the game, which is gearing up? Sure is fun to remove all the tension of being a fresh spawn....

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

No. I love games that you can mod. I love games where mods actually ADD to the game. For example, I enjoy L4D2 mods because the content there allows you to PERSONALIZE your gameplay experience and also allows you to get new content, basically for free. I also love the mods available for FO:NV, as they add hours of content to the game, all just for your time. At first, when people brought up the argument "Please no modding / Private Hives on DayZ", I was sketchy. I'm all for letting the players contribute to the game by modding, but then I remembered the experience I had on the mod. DayZ is a game where allowing people to pussify the experience doesn't add to the game. Mods can be great, I'd love new maps. All I am saying is that there needs to be a limit on how easy you can make the game by removing, basically, all of the challenge. You're making a broad assumption. Another game I love with mods? Starbound. Another game I love with mods? Far Cry 3. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available

That "Who the fuck are you to tell people how to play the game?" was hostile and uncalled for. If you are going to argue against my point, please be civil. Now, since the initial post was a bit rushed and simplified, let me explain to you why private hives tore apart the mod. Firstly, private hives can be good. The problem is, a lot of private hives on the mod ended up taking away most of the difficulty from the game. Instead of adding cool user-made content, it just made the game easier. It made it less about survival and more of an open world deathmatch with zombies and cars at every corner. Now, this is fine if those servers that are basically pissing on the intended experience are isolated. The problem is, the market for DayZ Mod servers got FILLED with them. Private Hives with stuff like self-bloodbag, increased rate of vehicle spawns, and military-grade spawning loadouts outnumber vanilla public hive servers on the mod. I had legitimate trouble finding a server on the mod where I didn't spawn with a gun, or where the spawnrates of both weapons and vehicles were increased drastically. You're putting the argument out that I shouldn't be allowed to "tell people how to play the game". Well, here is the problem, pal. If Private Hives emerge in the Standalone that pussify the experience, I will no longer be able to play the game how I like to. Which is without the ability to bloodbag myself, spawn in with a sniper, and find an SUV on every single street in the map. That isn't fun to me. Spawning in with end-game shit is not fun to me. Plus, getting shot at by admins who spawned themselves in guns isn't fun either, especially when they can ban you if you kill them. Look at Rust, a game I don't really like (for good reasons). It has tons of issues with admin abuse. I don't want DayZ SA to have these issues, though we're already seeing them with the abuse of kicking (though this can get their server taken down, yay.)
  24. hannibaldaplaya

    SaviorWooten and TheBearJ Admin Abuse

Report them to their hosting service, as they are not allowed to kick players on their server. Since it is connected to the hive, they can't just kick you to keep you off of their "looting grounds."
