I'm going to start this thread with a slightly scary story of someone I met, so beware. I'm pretty sure I met this guy on TF2 (His name will remain anonymous), and he was pretty cool. After I figured out he had games like Risk of Rain and Starbound, I naturally played with him. While we were playing Starbound, I tried to trade with him. He traded an instrument for my instrument, but when I tried to trade him for one of his weapons, which was inferior to him but rather balanced for me, he refused. Why? He considered it CHEATING. This threw me into an argument with him, which allowed me to unearth his (broken) logic- Trading, modding, getting items from friends, that was all cheating to him. Do I agree with him? Hell no. According to this man's logic, anytime your friend gives you some ammunition or bandages you in DayZ, you're cheating. Anytime you trade your M4 for your friend's SKS, you're cheating. Anytime you modify a singleplayer game, like, say, Half Life or Fallout New Vegas, you're CHEATING. It is very obvious that this isn't really cheating to most people and it shouldn't be considered cheating, ever, as mods and player interaction such as trading is a wonderful thing to have in a game that shouldn't be considered an exploit. What am I getting at here? A lot of people seem to consider gamma magic night vision an exploit in DayZ. Is it? Well, yeah, but at least there is a bit of reason behind using it: Everyone can use this exploit as well, easily. Not using it puts yourself at risk. The flashlight is currently clunky and hard to use. Some people seem to consider turning off Post Processing in DayZ makes you an exploiter as well. Do I agree? Hell no. Yes, let me keep on a setting that adds annoying blur and depth of field when I could play the game without such annoying features. Throw in a forced setting that fucks up your vision when you get shot, though, that would be great. Is there anything you guys consider cheating that others may not consider cheating? btw we all know that server hopping /. combat logging is a serious exploit and that it is a cheat and those who use it should be just a tad ashamed of themselves, just a tad .

First Impressions and Hopes

Calling someone's thoughts 'invalid' is invalid. Noone's thoughts are invalid. There is no such thing as an invalid opinion. -

They get a gun and immediately think they're Tony Montana and can survive several gun wounds while mowing down tons of people while only holding the gun with one hand.

Temp Fix for Stable Branch "Heart Attack"

The server owner is sending global messages that seem like notices. You're all being tricked, ignore it. Heart Attacks aren't in Stable. Its an easy to spot troll. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

I'm waiting for the day I encounter a hacker. So I can tell them why their logic is flawed. -
Worst DayZ players I've ever met?
hannibaldaplaya replied to Crazy_Spider's topic in General Discussion
I've had people rush me with axes at Firestations, only for them to die from a double-tap from my good old magnum. Then they cuss at me on mic. -
I can barely hit trees with the SKS from 100 + meters. It is ridiculous. Even with perfectly aimed shots, your bullets curve randomly and make every gun unreliable.

Shh. Shh. Its okay. NO IT ISNISRTSJDGDSGH

What he means is that since all guns were realistically accurate, you didn't have to worry that your shots would miss due to the stupid dispersion as you have to in the SA.

It isn't like you have to when 95% of your DayZ friends play on 3PP and they are too lazy to abandon their characters and move to hardcore... -

apologists are delaying development.

Rust is a bad example of game development. Garry Newman is a greedy prick. His game, Rust, is a terribly optimized piece of shit that flip flops every update. Updates break FPS, break other things, and they rarely add anything and have removed their shitty zombies. -

No. Your lack of intelligence has required us to deem you a threat to others. Your public execution is scheduled this evening. Glory to Arstotka. -

Anyone who yells ALPHA at any sort of complaint, criticism, or form of feedback about DayZ is an idiot. Alpha is when players test and provide feedback on the game. Some people do this via criticism, complaining, or being not as civil and apologetic as you want them to. The only thing you can't do during Alpha is assume the game will always be as shit as you think it is currently, but you can call it shit and you can point out flaws. Why? So the developers get to hear your complaints and perhaps take them into account. We are here to provide feedback and criticism on the game to help shape it into something fantastic. Yelling ALPHA at people who suggest stuff is the stuff I expect from fanboy numbskulls. I love the game but getting yelled ALPHA at for making suggestions on melee and other things isn't fun. -
Unfortunately, to appear as friendly as you possibly can, you're going to have to give up a rifle. But, with some inventory tetris, you can fit yourself an axe, ammunition, food, water, medical supplies, and a pistol or two for self defense. Now, you're probably wondering- WHY HAVE YOUR AXE IN YOUR BAG? I play with a lot of groups. A lot of the time, their guidelines on who to shoot or mug or torture include those with a gun or an axe. Basically, if you have a melee weapon, you appear a lot less noobish. You don't seem like a freshspawn and your menacing axe can make paranoid geared up groups see you as a threat. To minimize this, I put my axe in my bag. This prevents players from seeing my axe on my back. This prevents them from knowing I'm even armed. This prevents them from shooting me right when they see me, unless they like to shoot unarmed players. My yellow raincoat also adds to this, as I am very easy to spot. Now, why would you want to do this in the first place? Well, if you're someone like me, you want to make sure the people you meet and want to potentially help don't see you as a threat. Plus, with this type of loadout / build, I can still conceal weapons for self defense. Booyah. Plus, as a bright, easy to spot target without a visible gun or axe, reasonable players are less likely to fire at you. This also gives you the advantage of appearing harmless. Though the point of this build is to appear friendly and harmless, you can use this to your advantage if you'd like. Imagine you meet some dupers who openly brag about using exploits or whatever, but they don't instantly kill you and try to get you to team with them. WHEN THEY'RE NOT LOOKING PULL OUT YOUR CONCEALED WEAPON AND DISH OUT JUSTICE TO THE DUPERS. DUPEBUSTERS! Or you can use this for evil. Which would be sad, but, hey, smart.

How I Appear as Friendly as Possible

Funny, I just watched Scarface last night. I try to remain a mellow, nice guy, but I do throw around references to Mobster movies and that kind of stuff. -

... I wasn't trying to say I use this to trick people, its moreso to make them not immediately shoot me so that there can be more diplomatic relations. Plus, I'll just switch to something different, then. -
