    As-50_Thermal and MP5K [ Standalone ]

I wish DayZ would stick with its location and add weapons appropriate to the area. Games like STALKER had weapons that fit the location and it really added to the immersion- The most common assault rifle? An AK or an AK variant. The most common pistol? Makarov! Etc etc. Sure, it is possible to see western weapons like the M16, M4A1, M14, and etc in the area DayZ is set in but right now we have M4A1's and M1911's. I love the M1911, but seriously, its priority should have been BELOW the Makarov!

This game. And the people who play it

DayZ is a sandbox game. People can do what they want. I went around with 4 others yelling at people and chasing them with a pitchfork. We also had a man in a leather jacket running around in the most silly way possible while making motorcycle noises. It was fun. We pitchforked a lot of people. A lot of people ended up knocking us out. In the end, two of the last remaining fellows drank disinfectant, and I put them done, and then I went and blew up the Gas Station with my pitchfork.
  3. Seriously, I don't see why so many people hate the public hive. If it wasn't for the public hive, DayZ would be a much different game for me. With a character that is bound to every server, I can always stay on high population servers or play with my friends without having to start over. Now, public hives do allow server hopping and other naughty things, but the timer is helping against that, though I think it should stack a bit more. But where do private hives fail? Because, trust me, there are downsides to a private hive. Let me go over a few- 1. Private hives are limited to a single server. This single server could go down at any time, get shut down at any time, or lose population at any time. The server can be 37/40 one day, 2/40 the next. There is no guarantee the private hive will stay popular enough to provide a true DayZ experience to its players. 2. Private hives force you and your friends to pick one specific server before you start playing. It forces you to start over when you join another friend or have them start over when they join you. Instead of just joining a server together, with your public hive characters, and meeting up, you are forced to decide who gets to be the geared one. 3. Private hives give administrators lots of control. Why? Since nothing is carried over from one hive to another hive, spawning of weapons and cars by the admins is usually fine. This can lead to admin abuse, and if every server is a private hive, admin abuse can plague a game like this. No one wants to leave a server where they have tons of stuff, even if the admin is a dickwad. 4. Private hives, due to their modifiability, can make it nearly impossible to find a vanilla server. We've seen this in the mod which ended up having so many "Spawn with AS50 / 50000 Cars / 200 Heli's / Self Bloodbag" servers! It made it nearly impossible for someone like me to find a server where you didn't start with anything. Private hives also end up selling gear for real life money. Basically, an admin will spawn you in a DMR if you give him $5 over Paypal. Not fair to those who don't want to pay some server owner for in-game gear. Now, mods can be really good, but can also lead to pussification as we have seen in the mod. Now, since I don't want to be biased, what are the downsides of a public hive? 1. Players can hop from server to server to loot areas. They have to wait through a current 5 minute timer, which some wait through and others don't. A lot are normal players who are pissed off that loot doesn't respawn and decide to server hop so they can actually get anything from a place they spent 30 minutes running to, while others do it a million times and end up having bazillions of rounds which is a nice gift to someone who hears them logging in. 2. Players can combat log, though this is only really effective to snipers. You can log out during combat, but you are there for 30 seconds, ripe to be killed. What about the upsides to a private hive? 1. No server hopping or combat logging. What are the upsides to a public hive? 1. Its easier to play with your chumps. 2. If the server you normally play on goes down, temporarily or permanently, you can switch to another server and not have to worry about. I personally think we should stick to public hives, and if private hives are added, the server browser have two tabs- Public Hive and Private Hive.

    Sporter-22 is WAY too quiet

I've fired tons of .22's at indoor ranges recently, and the Ruger 10/22 is not this quiet. It isn't incredibly loud, but it sounds like a pellet gun in the game for god's sake.
  5. Unfortunately the only way to fix this is for them to optimize the game or make ATOC not affect the size of trees or foliage without causing performance drops.

Stand alone attachment system = COD

The attachment system is so silly. Magpul parts = Super accurate M4. No Magpul parts = Bullet Hose M4.
  7. Until I buy my new PC, I can care less what these features do, as long as they make the game playable for me. I still have a huge disadvantage against you. My meager 25 average FPS and 10 FPS in cities makes me an easy target that can not hold up in gunfights. Despite this I have learned to manage and took out a guy at Balota with a shot to the head from my mosin.
  8. It is against the rules of hosting a server. They are not allowed to lootfarm and kick anyone who joins to maintain their lootfarm.
  9. No. This punishes people with less powerful rigs. Do you not understand that the game is poorly optimized? If I turn post processing on, my framerate drops. If I turn on ATOC, my framerate drops. If I turn up shadows, or details that make the game look pretty, MY FRAMERATE DROPS. Not everyone can afford a super rig. Tweaking settings is a PC feature due to the diversity of specifications.

    Tactical Vest

ALERT, ALERTTTTTTT. The livestreamer you are watching is doing at least ONE NAUGHTY THING. He is either duping an old tactical vest or hacking it in.
  11. 30 minutes? What the fuck? There are plenty of times I will be playing, and then a friend will want me to join them. What am I supposed to do? Go and spend 30 minutes doing nothing as a timer is up on my screen? Hell no.

    A Guide to having FUN

This guide isn't about surviving, it isn't about tactics, it is only about being silly and enjoying yourself. NOTE: This guide will not help you if getting killed or losing your gear frustrates you. I will list out a few simple steps on how to be as silly and crazy as possible in DayZ. Find a server that is near-full. This guide to being silly and having tons of fun requires plenty of players. Stick to the coast, and be as careless as possible. You may be shot a few times, even as a fresh spawn, but do not let this deter you. Mess with the people shooting at you, talk to them over voice, but don't show any anger. Try to make jokes, even if they are spraying at you as they circle you. BE SILLY. Refrain from picking up guns. You can, but once you do, you appear super hostile, and getting immediately shot isn't fun when your life goal is to mess around. Go to Elektro, Berenzino, or any other sort of hotspot. Once there, shout on your voice comm while moving through the town, be as careless as possible, and meet players and see how they react. Probably die. Respawn. Go back to Step 2.

Hunting- It better be damn hard

If DayZ has the same hunting as it did in the mod or the same hunting we saw in Far Cry 3, so help me god... I want hunting in DayZ to be an experience where you have to be careful. You have to be patient and quiet. You have to move in a way that will not alert nearby animals and your best bet is to come upon one that doesn't notice you. I want hunting in DayZ to be mainly stealth based. I don't want to see people with LMG's just going into the woods and spraying down a herd of deer and being able to eat for two weeks. I also would like it so that you have to be careful about your shots. Bullets ruin gear on dead players. Bullets can ruin meat on dead animals. This will force you to be accurate and precise if you want the most food. You don't want to eat some steak with bullet fragments in it!

"That female zombie is starting to look attractive"

Someone needs to do this as a troll message- "You have cholera, your ass explodes causing diarrhea to spew into your pants, leaking through the already torn holes."

Dean Hall on Dayz ported to consoles.

Lol, DayZ with a controller @ lowest running 10 FPS, I can only imagine.
  21. These features will be good. Being able to fashion tribal style weapons from the woods will be great. Ineffective, not durable weapons, but makeshift and tribal and shit.
  22. I'd really like to see this. Even a game like Project Zomboid is currently lacking this feature! In real life, I would not barricade my windows with planks until I had to. I would move dressers in front of windows, couches in front of doors, etc. Very makeshift barricades that would be rather easy to get through, but still basic enough to hide and defend your 'base'. If a horde of zombies was coming for me, or a physco with an axe, I would rush inside a room, close the door, and push all the furniture against that door and look for a window to climb out of. I would slow the zeds or the fellow from getting through without having to nail planks to a door. Really, being able to move furniture will also expand barricading from more then just that. Players will be able to take dressers, tables, beds, and couches, and use them to make makeshift perimeter fences. This will not only look impressive, it will look survive-y and makeshift. Unfortunately, I fear the game will stick to things like planks being the main barricading tool. :/

    A Guide to having FUN

Not cracking jokes or being serious can cost you your life. People ar eless likely to shoot someone lighthearted then they are someone who isn't fun to talk to. :|
  24. I've been playing DayZ for a while. A lot of times, I play with friends. When playing with these friends, I get to know how they play. Sometimes they are on full population servers, all the time, hardcore mode, that kind of stuff. Others force me to get on a low population server for boring loot sessions with them. Others take me and others to airfields and try to get us to server hop repeatedly with them. Some even offer me duplicated guns from an exploitable bug. Are they bad people? No, not at all. The only dupers I met were randoms who were friendly to me. Of course, I didn't accept their duped weapons, and wasn't supportive of it, but they didn't shoot me on sight. Though they did talk about sniping at Elektro with the long range scope mosins they had duplicated, which pissed me off to a certain extent. But other then this, where they bad people? Where they scum? Not really. Sure, the dupers who used the dupe gear to kill freshspawns on the coast, yeah, they aren't necessarily valuable members of the community. But the server hoppers? Most of the time, its just people pissed off that loot won't respawn who don't want to run for a few hours to get stuff. Of course, this is usually with the mildest of server hoppers. People who hop once or twice and then stop. The people who insist on hopping more then ten times for gear? Most of the time, they're only in it to hoard ammunition, accessories, etc. Server hopping is a rather common thing, even if you only do it once. The lack of loot respawn can push people to do it when they find an area that was probably looted 2 hours ago. The number of server hoppers will drop when loot respawn is added. The number of dupers will drop when the glitches are patched. But the question is, should anyone even be doing this? Especially when they use this advantage against other players? In my opinion, duping and then using the duped ammunition or guns to kill other, friendly or freshly spawned players is just a dick move. What about you guys?

    A Guide to having FUN

I don't see how you're having any fun then, I've tried the whole super-north-super-serious-super-survival stuff and it gets boring after a while, it is a lot more fun to take risks and play carelessly. :P
