Pistols should have a chance to spawn with magazines
hannibaldaplaya replied to maninthewall's topic in General Discussion
But you should be able to find them in RESIDENTIAL AREAS. Not everyone goes to one of the few military bases just for a pistol magazine. They are INCREDIBLY HARD to find if you're in a town. -
Ah, yes, I misread your post. A rear sight should be essential to aiming precisely, and the weapon should be a lot more difficult to handle. How do you deal with this without random dispersion is beyond me.
-
I hope so. I thought he was saying it is useless as most M4A1's come with the carryhandle optics, but now I see what he is saying, and I hope he doesn't mean sights should start affecting the bullshit dispersion.
-
I have shot a gun before. I have shot plenty of guns before. What I meant is to you expect it to magically stop the bullets from curving the way they do? The BUIS and the Carryhandle Optics both don't affect how the bullet flies, they just make it easier for the person using the rifle to aim accurately. Its a purely cosmetic decision between picking one or the other.

[Experimental 0.44] Zombies are fixed?

They still see you from miles away. :C -
Its an iron sight. Do you expect to MAGICALLY make the gun more accurate like the Magpul parts?

Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
hannibaldaplaya replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Off topic, but that is absolute bullshit and I think you Canadians should push for less strict gun laws! On topic, the main reason we want magazines to spawn near or in the weapon (empty of course) is so that guns that are currently useless BECOME useful. Right now, the M4A1 is the only weapon I use with a magazine as you mainly find it in areas that spawn M4A1 magazines. The only pistol I can really use is the Magnum, as I don't need a magazine! I'd love to rock the M1911 but it is hard enough to find the magazines unless you head to a military base, which isn't everyone's fancy. Plus, who is going to use a Sporter 22 when they have military weapons? The magazines, both 10 and 30, should spawn empty / near-full / somewhere in the middle on the sporters, near the sporters, or at least somewhere residential. The sporter is useless due to the lack of magazines in any area other then the military bases and the three magazine-based pistols are rarely ever used due to this as well. -

Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
hannibaldaplaya replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
Hey, two - three shots in the leg knocked a freshspawn who was trying to knock me out last night out, and I used another two rounds to finish him off, though I'm waiting for my mag to run out so I can toss this damn M4. -
Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
hannibaldaplaya replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
Hrm. Though if you make the crossbow kill in more then two - three shots to the chest, it will become utterly useless, you have to factor in realism. A crossbow will kill you, just like a bullet, if it hits any of your vital organs. We need vital organ hitboxes, or something. That way a shot to the chest can be lethal or nonlethal depending on where it hits. I personally think the crossbow should be a two hit kill on the chest, perhaps causing the player hit to bleed and lose a lot of blood. One hit is just outrageous, its nearly the same as a 7.62 round right now... -
Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
hannibaldaplaya replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Unless you don't want to go to one of the military bases. The issue here is that if I find an Amphibia, 1911, or FNX45 at any of the normal towns, why should I pick it up? I can have tons of .45 ACP and a bucketload of .22 LR, but I can only chamber one round, and since none of those magazines spawn in civilian / residential areas, I'm out of luck. This forces me to only get to use these guns when I spend an hour or so looting NWAF and Balota, due to their tent camps. The magazines rarely spawn. They are hard to get a hold of, because they only spawn at the military tent camps, firestations, and a few other specific places. -
5 things that really need to be addressed.
hannibaldaplaya replied to Etherimp's topic in General Discussion
1. Bullshit Weapon Inaccuracy / Dispersion (which makes most of the rifles unreliable, even the mosin at times) 2. Zombie Pathing / Really Bad AI (we don't even have basic stealth) 3. Melee needs huge buffs and really needs the clunk to be removed 4. The engine's core issues need to be ironed out as smoothly as humanly possible 5. Guns spawning without empty magazines making certain firearms USELESS -
DayZ Experimental | More people are silent and do not want to talk?
hannibaldaplaya replied to theswedishcathead's topic in General Discussion
Don't trust the turks, man, I met some and they used me as a packmule, picked me up and killed me when they got me to their group. -
I meant in the game. I MEANT IN THE GAME. I MEANT IN THE GAAAAAAAAME. In the game, you can fit a pistol into your pants, for no apparent reason, and I was simply pointing this out. I do own several pistols, do not make wild assumptions.

No. No. And No. Did I mention "No"?

Right now, Chernarus is a fine map, sure, but it lacks a plethora of unique areas. What do I mean by that? Currently, most towns in the game look the same, other then a few of the new ones. Same buildings, acceptable, same old battered cars, sure. You can't expect new buildings in each town, but you can expect one thing- Something unique or noticeable about that town. Something that makes it stick out and gives the player a reason for going there. I'm talking about some sort of unique remnant. Perhaps one or two towns have festival banners and abandoned, bloody floats in the middle of the street. The infected interrupted their celebration, leaving a nice, eery remnant for passing survivors to take in. Maybe have a carnival, or some sort of amusement park, or some sort of place that shows Chernarussians weren't dull, boring people who did nothing to entertain themselves? Perhaps a shooting range in rural areas, or a community center in others. These are all things that could be used multiple times, and would add some liveliness to the map, but there are some other things that could be done as well. Specific, unique, one-place only areas could be thrown around the map, like the car that's at the bottom of a cliff near NEAF. Perhaps have more car wreckages on the long roads between towns and cities. I know you fellows don't like adding military spawns, but how about alongside crashed heli's, we get randomized crashed military conveys on the road? They would spawn a few bits of gear, not as much as an airfield, but a bounty neverless. It would also reward exploration. Imagine being in the middle of the map and spotting an old military convey on the road. Though they are basically the same thing as a crashed heli's, the same basic idea, it would be a good thing to throw in, randomized loot spawn wise. You could also have more houses in the middle of the woods. Isolated cabins, surrounded by thick trees, making a perfect location for a base of operations for a survivor, and also adding to the woods. You could stumble upon a cabin, and a shed, along with an old rusted, wrecked pickup. The area could also be dirty, sort of hardened. Perhaps have the construction site of a humble log cabin somewhere in the woods, supplies all around, ready to be built? Of course, that construction was interrupted by the infection. To expand upon the shooting range, it could be a good place for survivors to flock to for a few reasons: 1. You can use it as it is intended, as a range. 2. You could possibly find ammunition, and perhaps a gun, though ammunition should be the primary thing to spawn. It could be a good place for CIVILIAN GUN spawns as well. To expand upon the addition of more common car wreckage between towns / cities on the roads and why it would add to the game: 1. When vehicles are added, it would force players to navigate around the wreckage and make offroad vehicles more valuable. 2. In the panic of an apocalypse, people are going to get into wrecks. 3. I know the devs love making stuff spawn in trunks, they now get another opportunity to do so. This is a bit of a ramble-style post, but I really want the map to be UNIQUE. Right now, a lot of the towns feel copy-paste, which was fine for Arma, but this is DayZ and as an apocalyptic title it needs to up its atmosphere.

Melee is now a Joke in Experimental- Fists more effective then Fire-Axe
hannibaldaplaya posted a topic in General Discussion
Experimental has made melee WORST then it already was. It is not more effective to just spam your fists at a zed's head until it dies them to use a fucking axe. It was bad enough your fists outdid the bats, the crowbars, and the hammers, and anything really other then the axe, but now your fists literally do everything. They also excel in player versus player combat as they focus on knocking someone else instead of causing devastating damage, what?- 39 replies

Today, on Experimental, some fellow was shooting off his SKS. Like crazy. So, I take cover in a house, look out the window, my Mosin and its PU Scope ready to lock onto this fellow and take some shots at him. Eventually, I see him leave a house, and go down a road, so I get to a better position, as he is covered by some trees. I see him, I get him in my scope, and I fire. Miss. I pull back the bolt, and I fire again. Hit. By now, he is yelling at me, telling me to not shoot, so I yell back, asking why he was firing so many rounds so carelessly. He doesn't answer. I tell him to put down his gun. He says he is going into the Church and that he won't come back. I switch to a higher window, and see him inside the Church. I keep telling him to drop his weapon, because if he doesn't, it won't matter much to me, as he'll simply be dead, anyway. He doesn't see me, too, he doesn't know where I am. I am wearing bright clothing, inside a window, with the barrel of my Mosin sticking out of it. I am a target that would be rather easy to spot. Yet he is completely oblivious of my position. He thinks he has cover, he thinks I can't shoot him, but I have my scope right on him. I tell him my friend is going to come by and swoop up his gun. He starts fussing about, angry that we are going to take his gun. I don't think he understands the fact that we're not going to let him have a loaded weapon on him. Plus, I want the SKS. He complains about my shot ruining all of his shit. He seems really mad, too, yet he still stands right out in the open, not moving. Ah, what the hell, everything in his bag and shirt is ruined to begin with, along with that nice vest of him. I squeeze the trigger, and he falls down, dead. Now, sure, he put down his gun, but he was getting rather angry and didn't keep his cool. He didn't remain calm and wouldn't move from the area. I couldn't even tell if he dropped his gun or not at the moment, as there was still something on his back. Plus, he could have tried to went rambo mike tyson punch out on me, as I didn't have a motorcycle helmet. He also had barely any blood, and was bleeding to begin with, and there was no way I was going to go and bandage this angry, careless, wounded fellow. No way. He would have knocked me out, for sure. Either way- He was dead. If I would have just mugged him, he would have had nothing but a lack of blood and a need for vengeance. So, yeah, that is why I shot him. To make up for my bad deeds to such an oblivious target, we tried giving away stuff to fresh spawns... Which resulted in one guy trying to pitchfork my pal. Didn't even scout out the area to see if someone was covering him. He doesn't have working legs anymore, but he's still alive. We didn't leave him a splint, either. Before we could give away the rest of the loot, including my mosin which I had switched out, the server restarted. The main thing I can't understand is how he didn't see me. I was in a window, he was looking at me. Well, he looked at me more then a few times. Surely he must have seen me? But he didn't. How? I don't know. Just, remember, don't fire your SKS at zombies or other players or anything in the middle of Svet, because it might result in your death.

Can Nothing be done about MetaGaming in Dayz?
hannibaldaplaya replied to yorkmorgan's topic in General Discussion
You will never fully solve metagaming, never. Unless you come up with some way to wipe everyone's memory when they launch the game and make them believe they are actually in Chernarus, and actually trying to survive, you will never see an end to metagaming. Even without third party comms, the gamma exploit, or the FOV exploit, people still come into this game with a meta-mindset. The only way to get rid of this is to somehow magically devise some temporary device that wipes your head of any thoughts and makes you believe you are on the coast and not just playing a game on the computer, which is impossible and probably illegal. -
Kitchen knife causes instant bleeding?
hannibaldaplaya replied to MoOnKat's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure only the sharp weapons... Also, be careful with the machete, its a one-shot kill to the head. My friend accidentally figured this out on me. :P -
This does happen on Experimental. Time sort of lags between players, can be rather unfair for some who have it as sunset while others have it as pitch black night...

Melee is now a Joke in Experimental- Fists more effective then Fire-Axe
hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I take that as an insult, as if I should not be allowed to go to Experimental and then provide feedback on the forums over such an issue? I was ill-informed that it was unintentional, gosh. You don't have to make blatant assumptions about me, holy hell. -
Melee is now a Joke in Experimental- Fists more effective then Fire-Axe
hannibaldaplaya replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
The main reason the fists are outshining everything is that they are a lot easier to aim then any of the other melee weapons. They swing fast and hit on target, making it a lot less frustrating to just punch a zombie's lights out repeatedly until it dies. This is as effective as using an axe, as with an axe now you have to constantly swing and hope for the hit to register, and if it doesn't hit the head it deals very little damage. It is incredibly hard to nail zombies in the head as they spaz out around and as you move to dodge their attacks, making headshots rather difficult, especially in cities where performance is usually low for everyone. I'm all for dangerous zombies, but the way they are making them dangerous is through frustrating, cheap changes that make the zombies more frustrating and less scary. When you die by one, which is still very unlikely, its sort of like dying to a glitch- They are still rather buggy and now can take a shitload of melee hits from all the weapons. Please, developers, fix the zombie pathing, AI, melee, and then buff the zeds so that they are a threat. Make them overwhelm players and increase their numbers, after they work. -
Erh, no. When you order someone to drop their gun or surrender, you seem rather hostile. Most normal people will believe you are robbing them and will try to engage you if you are very threatening or demanding. The best way to initiate a safe, friendly interaction is to call out from a position where you have the advantage, but talk in a calm, reassuring voice. You should ask them to put their gun away. If they raise it, kill them without a warning, especially if they try to take some shots or look for you, sights to their eyes. Try to sound friendly, not hostile. Also, I've met friendlies at NWAF before.
