Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
RangerFire replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Personally, I am a big fan of the zombies post-patch. While they are considerably more difficult, I believe that long-term they will make the game more interesting and more of a challenge. I am significantly more wary of fights now that these zombies are running around, and as they are much easier to handle with a group, it encourages working together. However, this level of zombie difficulty should be preceded by fixing their ability to walk through walls and altering their agro settings. Currently they agro from ridiculous distances and in ridiculous places. Fix that and their ability to walk through walls and you have something worth working with. The animations make them difficult to headshot which I think is good. I think that they should be more resistant to bullet damage from the 9mm, .45acp, .357 and 5.56 rounds. A 2-3 shot kill to the body from these calibers would move gun selection away from what is simply best to kill players with. Just my 2 cents. Overall, +1 for the new zombies, but some aspects still need work. -

Game Freezing Regularly For Minutes
RangerFire replied to Paranoia Penguin's topic in Troubleshooting
I have something similar to this happen. After anywhere from 1-10min of play, my DayZ will freeze up as if I am disconnected from the server. However I can still move around in game but the environment does not change for me. I cannot interact with anything, including my inventory and other players are not visible. Either waiting 5-10minutes or rejoining the server fixes it, but only for another few minutes. Is this somewhat like that which you are experiencing? -
Glad to know I'm not alone! It happens in servers of all ping values, so its not that they are just slow because of that.

I've been playing the Standalone for quite a while now and since the last patch, I have been experiencing a strange connection issue. After joining a server, I can play for a few minutes but then suddenly it will stop responding. Zombies won't move and my friends will run off into the distance even though they insist that they are standing next to me. I can't take out my guns, interact with the environment or interact with my inventory. During this, I get the yellow (unbroken) connection chain or no chain at all. Frequently my friends will tell me that I am being hit by zombies and have to shoot them off of me and bandage me up, but on my screen nothing is happening. Strangely, I can still walk around. If I wait 5-10 minutes, suddenly everything that happened while I was experiencing this issue will occur at once. Doors will open, I will be bleeding, friends will re-appear etc. This is accompanied with the Broken Red Connection chain. If I leave the server during the connection issue time period, it is fine and when I join back in the process repeats; I can play for a little while, but eventually everything freaks out. Anyone experienced this? Any ideas what the cause is? My current thought is that it is my internet losing connectivity for a short moment and then the game freaking out and taking a while to catch me back up. However the fact that it happens every time after a few minutes (anywhere between 1 and 20) makes me doubt this.

Does this include Hardcore servers? Because I've experienced this on regular servers, but never hardcore.
-
Odd, the pistol flashlight worked for me in damaged condition. However the moment I log out of hardcore servers, my character resets. This is not the case in some regular servers.

My entire group just died... and there weren't even bandits or zombies.

Ahh didn't know that. I appreciate the advice! Hopefully it will save a group in the future ;) -
Ammunition should be extremely rare
RangerFire replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I personally feel as though all ammo should be a cross between Mossin and .357 in terms of rarity. And that mags should be more like the pistol. It would create interesting standoffs as mags are easily ruined if you take someone down with a gun. Therefore you would be looking at more hold ups and more interesting banditry. -
Thanks for the info!

RangerFire replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I agree with this. Player interaction would be much more tense if you had to think before firing a bullet. In my opinion, mags shouldn't always spawn full. Maybe you find a lot more that have 1-5 bullets in them. When loot starts respawning correctly, this will be more feasible. Also, as bullet types expand with the inclusion of new guns, the spawns will be more saturated and hopefully it will be harder to find ammo to match your gun. -
Anyone experienced this issue with the gas lamp? Mine was in worn condition, so it should be fine. But it completely blacks out the area around me and provides no light. I've seen people using them without issue, I have no idea why mine doesn't work at all. I didn't check the condition of the canister, could that be it?

18 here, message me on steam: RangerFire If you get a group of guys together, I'd love to play. I have skype and teamspeak so whatever works. Can't play all the time for the next week, but I've logged over 100 hours so I normally do play quite a bit.

Yeah I typically wear Red Helmet + Red backpack and black clothing because I like to play in dawn/dusk times when I can and I find that greyish is hard to see. And I can't stand the all camo look that everyone uses. I guess it just wasn't enough! -
This Game is Astonishing at night... But my favorite time is when the sun starts to come back up. Running with friends is always a little more fun. When a friend helps light the area up, the night is gorgeous.
