In that case, I'd like to see a server type where you only have one life, and you have to survive for 28 ingame hours. Whoever does this first "wins" and the server resets and allow dead people in again.

Guy charged me, I shot him dead bang bang. "No message recived" Fuck. I log back in, guy is still dead, I got my ammo back. ...wat

I'm fairly certain you'd expend more energy digging than eating the worms would give you.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
Rufert replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
It's weird, there was another post about this(that I just found, although I did try to search before making this one) And the response was overwhelmingly negative. I'm not sure why that is, or what changed. -
Except that sluggish view controls make some people nauseous myself included. Before I figured out how to turn it off in the config I couldn't play the game for very long without feeling ill.

Some people are dicks, some aren't always stay out of sight or keep hard cover between you and them until you have a better idea of what kind of person you're facing. There are three kinds of loot spawns, residential, industrial and military. You can get lucky, but for the best chance of getting weapons you need to find some military structures.

What do you think of fresh spawns being able to punch?
Rufert replied to Chungmugong's topic in General Discussion
I like it. They do however need more incentive to stay hidden and scavenge than to banzai the shit out of the first other player they see. I'm more wary of fresh spawns than I am of well equipped players, fresh ones have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain from attacking you, they die they just respawn and try again. -
If I was to guess I think hospitals/medical tents.
-
You can do this if you play on Hive servers, character is bound to the server.
-
I think it's coming, I'm not sure how else the bayonet would work.

I actually think the most realistic first person movement I've ever seen in an FPS was Miasmata. You could run fairly fast up steep hills, provided you got a running start, then you'd slowly lose speed, and eventually start stumbling back down. If you ran too fast down hills you ran the risk of falling as well.
-
That's not so bad, running with your hands free in real life would allow you to lean forward more and use your hands to stabilize your ascent. Going up a steep hill without using your hands however is just as slow, if not slower than it is in the game currently. As you run a high risk of either faceplanting if you lean too far forward, or fall over backwards from the heavy backpack.
-
Certainly could be done faster with your hands free.

The backpack in a backpack, in a backpack... bug/exploit?
Rufert replied to Cydone's topic in General Discussion
I thought they fixed that. In a bit of a ham fisted way though. You should be able to roll up backpacks that are empty and carry a few extra. -
Trying to Report Bugs but it won't accept the Submit
Rufert replied to TheWiredWorld's topic in Troubleshooting
I had that, it's not very well explained, after much fucking around you I found you just have to put in the last number. 114008 -
Why Doesn't the Controller Work?/Movement Assignment
Rufert replied to TheWiredWorld's topic in Troubleshooting
I really can't imagine how you'd be able to play with a controller in such a pvp centric game. First of all it's a simulator, this it has a lot of controls for various different nuances of movement and manipulation. Second it's a FPS, people using mouse and keyboard will always be faster and better than you. I just don't see how it'd be fun. -

D: I don't really want to molest my keyboard. -
Possibly the best sound addons I've seen so far, Rocket please add something similar!
Rufert replied to GrandadAssasin's topic in Suggestions
Beans. I fear this thread needs a better topic, it's quality content is too easily overlooked with that sort of all caps nonsense. -

Rufert replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
It's probably been requested before, I know I wish for it every time I play. Most actions in dayz have toggles, can running please have one? There is no real gameplay value to having to hold down W.- 559 replies

Apparently this made kotaku.

Beat me to it.

I'm perfectly fine with casual and hardcore servers, let people pick what they want, not having both sides soured by compromise.

If everyone is running around in five man groups like you guys there'd naturally be a lot less chance of finding anyone since they'd be less spread out I assume.

I've seen a lot of these threads, here's my take on one. Instead of the usual having zombies evolve in different ways I'd prefer three different stages of decay. This is seen in some zombie media. Fresh ones, those are the ones currently in game, they're quite happy chasing you at running speed, and see you from pretty far away. They are pretty rare but can be everywhere, in forests, in villages and in the bigger towns. They're pretty much the current zombies, in spawning frequency and location. Except they're more plentiful near military installations(the military were fit before they died) Not so fresh ones, these have decayed a bit more, and their knees and joints have suffered as a result of their running around when they were fresh. They're not very fast or very alert, but slightly sturdier. These are usually found in smaller villages and bigger towns, hardly ever outside, Ye olde zombie. These are either further decayed versions of the previous two, or were elderly or otherwise infirm when they got infected. Slow, nearly blind, tend to stick together in large groups in cities, will follow you, but slowly. These are the guys that will bunch up at the exits of buildings if you take too long looting in cities, pretty easy to avoid unless you make a bad judgement. These you'll find in the bigger cities in large clusters, and in hospitals.
