Try playing 1pp, you'll be surprised how often you do still see people (pretty much the same in Elektro)...only difference is, they have a fair chance of seeing you at the same time

Elektro will be full of zeds once the game has them respawning and has more of them...they're attracted by gunshots :)

When you spawn do you a - run to the first house you see b - run straight for the treeline c - take an unusual route using cover and zigzagging through open ground to get to the treeline d - stand still and think Hint: Anything except C is suboptimal for survival with spawn campers around but B can work too if the campers are noob (most of them) -
Was beaten to it... but Zombear...and real bears for that matter, only difference is that one's attracted to loud noises, other is scared by them :)

it's not to do with blood, it's to do with health. Colour saturation = blood level. Blurriness = health level. So yeah, override it if you want and you'll probably die to a single zombie hit in the future

Like many unfortunate moments in my life, my first death was premature. sorry couldn't resist the gag opportunity.. it was actually something lame like a zombie hit leading to a bleed out before I knew about rags

Why is it so hard to implement a logout timer?

It's usually implemented as a 'safe log out' ie...log out fast/alt+f4 if you want...or sit there and watch for 2mins to make sure no shit goes down before ur character is removed from potential danger. tbh since you can insta die from a headshot, it's the same difference my only first hand experience of functions like this -
I think someone should mod out the zombies and make it a purely pvp milsim

Any piece of clothing you associate with bandits?

I hunt bandits with a scope...and I wear camo gear or at least green/brown clothing not to be seen by them...last night I did accidentally shot some freshspawns that stumbled on my lookout post from behind me, but nothing fatal and I patched em up with some saline, food, water and bandages (sorry guys) Dammit...what film is that? EDIT: Famliy Guy :D -

I don't think it's ping, but bandwidth. I always play on <80 ping and get the same issue sometimes if the server+nr vicinity is busy

Same issue here, playing on only a 1mbit connection (120KB down/50KB up) :(

Pros: Might extend the lifetime of the game (bit early to say when it's still in alpha) Cons: Fractures playerbase, will mean pvpers all go play a pvp modded server, pvers all go to a pve modded server... kills the game. imo

So there's issues with server hopping for loot and ghosting...but I don't think that's all the exploits that some players get from having multiple servers to pick and choose from. In my opinion, playing on empty servers and so having free run of the map is an exploit, pretty much ghosting but maybe not with combat intentions. It's quite mad to see the number of servers with 1-10 players active on them and only 3-4 full 40/40 servers. So, I'd propose a regional queue. Basically you choose where you want to play (and so get a decent ping) and then the server drops you in the most suitable (explained below) server for that region. If you want to join with friends, you join a lobby together and then sign up. Stops loot hopping: If there's multiple candidates, then it drops you in the server with the least loot in your vicinity (probably the one you just picked dry) Stops combat ghosting: No way of ensuring you go straight back onto the same server, or avoid respawning in the one you just left. Stops the safety of empty servers: You'll be put into a full(ish) server, 20+ players. Additionally (but maybe not possible) if a server drops to under 20 players, it checks the player positions and then gets merged with another half-empty server after ensuring a minimal clash of players between the two so that no-one's gonna drop on another person's head or in their gunsights. Now, this all needs working loot spawns to be implemented first (otherwise everyone ends up in the same place with no loot anywhere) but with the devs working on the server code atm I think it needs considering now.

Hah I have exactly the same desync issues...consider it after netcode optimisation? Make it private and make a name for yourself for having a good private server?

I don't think I ever have a set route...except for I seem to end up in Tulga or Msta as my first stop, then it's a question of seeing what I've gathered so far. Usually I head west towards Zeleno or the military base near Pavlovo via a few little detours where loot is plentiful. Then I meet up with buddies or go out hunting wabbits...I mean bandits between Elektro and Kamyshovo. Looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow after dying to desync whilst looting a kill - he fail-ghosted and died from respawning 20m beside me - either his buddy or just an opportunist got me in the 5 minutes of faffing to try and put my M4 away so's I could grab the mosin and hide his body as well :(

I like, probably can be worked around by really desperate players (skype on a nearby mobile or something) but a step to eliminate a lot of the TS/mumble clans from having telepathy

I've been wondering about what era they were considering staging the events in... I'm not good enough on milporn to know when the M4A1 was first produced, but from some wiki-fu it looks like it's a recent variant. on topic: Cyrillic alphabet becomes secondary to recognising the towns by their key buildings and geography. You don't really want to be sprinting down to the main roads or stations to find out where you are after a few days of game time :)

Yeah ghosting is the pinnacle of the shameful art of combat logging... log out from a dangerous situation, flank in safety then relog and try to kill the person that was attacking you initially -
Shit happens, start server hopping/camping server hoppers again to get it back

Sick and tired of joining a server and losing my character

I've heard it's caused by either unwhitelisted servers or logging in and out of servers too rapidly (basically you try to log in before the old server has updated your info)...give it an extra couple of minutes after leaving a server before you try and join a new one. It's working for me... so far... As for whitelisting, just use the favourite list to note servers where it doesnt happen.
