I thought this was some kind of clever server hopping prevention. Just a few minutes ago, I guess all the servers started rolling restarts. So my buddy and I kept picking new servers as we were getting kicked. On the 3rd one, I spawned with only my vest and it's contents, my axe, helmet, and glasses. No pants, jacket, backpack, or shoes. Another interesting thing I've run into under the same conditions, I've spawned in and had all of my damaged/worn gear become pristine. I had 120 damaged 9mm that were suddenly pristine and ready for use :D Bugs will be bugs I suppose. At least this is the best DayZ has ever been. I'm even running into proper players again!

Night time servers not working? Please Help
Bakercompany86 replied to TheCookiemob59's topic in General Discussion
Anyone know if they fixed flashlights yet. You know, so they don't shine through an entire city like a Lighthouse Beacon on the coast? Also I can confirm, no matter what time it is on the server I join it's always been day lately. Not a huge deal, but I do enjoy night servers. Especially now that the FNX gets a weapon light. -
[Question] M4 and ACOG
Bakercompany86 replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The thing that pisses me off about the M4 is that even it's single shot accuracy is garbage. At 50 yards, healthy, rested, pristine parts, single firing a round at a zombie should not miss. Very frustrating. -
Sneaky server update! (confirmed)
Bakercompany86 replied to RoterBallon's topic in General Discussion
Yesterday I looted those tents to great success. I found a tent with 3 LRS for the mosin in them. No bull. Found a 4th in another tent. On my standard character, I ran through the same tents and was able to fully equip my M4. Pristine ACOG, Pristine RDS, Pristine Magpul buttstock, worn bipod, I have like...600 rounds for 5.56 now? More than that including whats in my magazines. Also found a worn silencer. Only thing I didn't find was a weapon light and the rail foregrip. -
I agree on every point you made. If they remedy those issues, then obviously it would be at least fair. You should be rewarded for stealth, IE crawling and using melee weapons. So if the auto-aggro-non-stop-circle-spawn kicks in even for melee, that isn't very fair to me. Having said all of that, I love the zombies now. An excuse to expend some ammunition. However I'm fairly geared. I would think this system would totally bite ass for a newspawn. EDIT: I also thought I heard a while back that hordes were planned? I'd really like to see that happen.

KoS in relation to the new spawn mechanism of Zombies: Good or Bad?
Bakercompany86 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I do think this change will affect all players, KoS or not. I noticed the zombies just never stop spawning and auto aggro you when they respawn. So unless you're at extreme ranges, I would think shooting a player in or near a town would cause you trouble unless you caught them after THEY aggro'ed the zeds. But I had to get a good ways out of town and kill my pursuers to get them to cease spawning. -
OP: Cool story bro (seriously). I had a similar experience today trying out this patch. First I should mention, everything seems smoother and the network feels crisp most of the time. Don't know if anyone else feels a difference. I read about the zombies new behavior here first. Then I decided to check it out.... What I've noticed is that they will spawn randomly in a circle around you at roughly 50 to 100 yards and auto-aggro you. Needless to say, the only reason I survived today is due to the expenditure of ammunition. I had a close call, was beaten pretty badly when a few caught me. Trying to pull out my FNX glitched and delayed (noticed problems drawing a pistol since patch). But they put a whoopin' on me that had me nervous about a zombie death for the first time in months. So definitely not a bad approach to making zombies challenging and a KoS deterrent (this happens by default). With this current implementation, if you aggro a zed you must flee to stop them. You will have to get a good distance out of town and kill all the zeds tailing you to cease them from spawning. The zombie pathing seems tweaked but not fixed. They seem to try and go around buildings instead of through them. But I have still seen them completely bypass fences and the like. I imagine this will be very difficult for new spawns.

Funny thing is, I bet most of the people complaining about Zombie difficulty were the same ones complaining about KoS. So now we have an effective anti-KoS measure (don't shoot, or you're swarmed). I can't wait to get on and try it out.

Maybe. I tried joining servers that were both empty and full just to see. Horrible lag everywhere. Tired of the 5 minute timer....but still glad it's there.
-
Is this why we have godawful lag today across all servers? DayZ doesn't want me to play today it seems.
-
Yup. At the expense of the rest of the country.

I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

Why co-operate if you're gonna get shot anyways?
Bakercompany86 replied to Goddam Firestations's topic in General Discussion
Solution: Don't put yourself in the position to be held up :) If they trap you in a building, but you are armed, then you are just as much a threat to them as they are to you. You can pry my M4 from my cold dead hands B) -

Stopped reading right here. I want this. The game feels too unamerican. I need a McDonalds on every corner, and I should be able to find BigMacs and a side of fries in there. They can survive an apocalypse...have you ever left out McDonalds food? On a more serious note. Who cares about the Cowboy hat? You don't think in that area that one person might own one? Plenty of American have the furry russian hats here. So why not? If you don't like it, don't wear it. It's a fucking hat. I do agree on the M4 and Colt Python. I don't mind them in the game, you could just picture one of the military outposts being an American one. We do have bases all over the world. So who's to say we wouldn't set up a makeshift camp in that area for whatever reason? Although I am glad they drastically reduced the spawn rate of the M4. I do think the AK-47 makes much more sense, but I'm sure they'll implement it eventually. I don't understand moving away from Zluto Soda to Sprite and Pepsi.... Why did that even matter? I don't mind the change, though, a soda is a soda in the apocalypse.

I actually didn't know they were being completely re-worked. That's awesome! You have my patience.
-
That's definitely a valid idea. It does indeed seem like it was meant to be a CQC to short range option and literally nothing beyond that. Which I guess won't be as big of a problem once more weapons are added. I haven't found an SKS yet but I would like to test one out.
-
I like the way KoS uses emoticons.... Annnnnnyway. I wouldn't mind Zombies being moved to the top of the "need to fix" list. The wall clipping is bad for multiple reasons, and I've actually been killed by players because zombies couldn't walk up stairs (to slow down their climb up).

Right here. I've been shooting my entire life. I've fired most firearms available to civilians (within reason). I had an AR-15. I could have picked a booger out of Lincoln's nose on a penny at 100 yards. While I don't expect that from a video game M4 (and my AR-15 was built with National Match parts), I shouldn't miss using iron sights at 40 yards, shooting while crouched. That's just rubbish. As far as the "cone of fire", I've always hated them. It's fine for hip-firing weapons. But when using iron sights, there is no reason you can't just let recoil do it's job. I don't need some artificial BS to "make" me miss. I want my M4 shots from a completely pristine weapon to be 100% accurate up to 100 yards. I don't care if you want to have weather conditions affect bullet travel, that's fine. But on a clear day/night, at 40 yards, with my iron sights clearly on the kill zone, I shouldn't miss. It's garbage, and annoying. What I'm referencing happened last night. I was in a town, crouched, aiming at a Zed from no more than 30-40 yards. I fired once...missed....fired again...missed....then the zombie came running straight for me. As it closed the gap, I fired again....missed....and finally when it was roughly 15 feet away, I fired and finally hit it. Rubbish.

I've literally been on the same character for over a month now. All gear intact.

Finally found a Mosin, and left it there

I've heard multiple reports of this now. Hopefully it was an accident, because it's stupid. -
Nights simply too dark. Like walking on the dark side of the moon.
Bakercompany86 replied to Cydone's topic in General Discussion
Dunno what black hole some people live in, but even when the moon is somewhat cloud covered it's not that dark.... -

The current moonlight is not realistic. Go outside, in a field, at midnight. Watch how much you can see. Now compare it to DayZ (which is equal to having a sack over your head). The currently moonlighting is NOT realistic. That's my point. If it were, people wouldn't need to gamma cheat. -
