First off, thank you for posting this. And thank you for posting the server lists and tips that you have. Much appreciated :) -I think zoom should be also disabled on the first person only servers. You can squint your eyes, but it doesn't magnify your vision by 4x... -First person to me is much more immersive and atmospheric. I'd much rather play on FPS only servers to further enhance my gameplay experience. -I think there's less KoS on FPS only servers, because most CoD KoS kiddies are afraid to lose their 3rd person view for safely peering around corners and over walls. -As I mentioned above, 3rd person kind of kills the immersion for me. I love this game in First Person view. I think it's really how it's made to be played :) -If you want good hiding position ideas to observe the enemy or find that ideal sniper spot, go watch Enemy At The Gates ;) -I would love to see a "peek over wall" feature. Something where your character and slightly pull themselves up to peer over a wall, only revealing their head. Similar to the lean mechanic. All in all, when the game is patched and mostly bug free, plus has all of it's planned features, first person will be the way to go for the ultimate experience :D -

Please don't change the death mechanic in this game. It's one of the main reasons I play. I don't want another game where death has little to no penalty. This games penalty for death even trumps Dark Souls. -
Some good info in this thread. I was wondering why I was reset 4 times last night. Is there a status page for the hive? Somewhere we can make sure it's up before inadvertently wiping our character? Or is there a news source I missed where they announce it's status?

I would like to see multiple characters for a few reasons. As long as they don't exist on the same hive (which is mentioned above as confirmed). When I log out with my buddies, I won't want to have to move that character just to play the game. A minor inconvenience I know, but that's why this is just personal opinion. -

Pretty funny :) Given the total longevity of consoles, they'll probably see it on PS4 and XB1. I personally hope DayZ is so successful that it not only happens, but it's demanded :) I want BI to make MILLIONS off this game. -

I would definitely see it coming to PS4 over Xbox One. Especially since PS4 already has 3 FTP PC ports since launch that I can think of off the top of my head. It would be very easy to map the controls to a controller over M+K. No problem there. Gamers can adapt regardless of control method, never doubt them :) -

I sincerely hope some day console gamers are able to enjoy DayZ the same as we PC gamers have and will be. With the current hardware of next-gen consoles, there is no reason they can't run it. Having said that, porting is a time consuming and costly process. We have a long way to go before the PC version is even ready, we're just getting started. If console gamers are lucky enough to see DayZ, it will be years from now. Keep your hopes up, and your patience :) -

I remember taking our Garands up to some mountains in Virigina (among an assortment of other firearms). The Gun Store my father worked for at the time held an annual "blast-a-thon", which is your typical mindless expenditure of ammunition at various targets. That year we happened to have some manhole covers among the items to be ruined with gunfire. One guy managed to take the AP rounds we brought and saw the manhole cover in half :) I wish I still had the picture of him holding up the two pieces and smiling ear to ear. -

First off in terms of realism, does it make more sense that fleeing survivors would take 6 Magnums with them, or load their pockets with ammo? Second, *you* cannot find the ammo. Two days ago I gave my buddy a loaded magnum and 40 extra rounds. Yesterday I found another 30some before my character got reset. -

Who voted for more weapons? I could slap you... Focus on bigger issues. Client stability and server hopping I think are the two most important in my opinion. Guns will be added.....that shouldn't be our focus. It's not like the devs planned on only having 4 guns in the game. -
Please god, no .50 cal rifles. They don't even remotely make sense in this setting.

Thankfully there are plans to address combat logging, server hopping, and ghosting. As to how or what extent, I don't know. As the gif shows, this player wasn't in any apparent danger minus the presence of another player nearby. So even with all of these measures implemented, we might not be able to stop people from just "going into their turtle shell" at first sign of a threat. But who cares if they do? If they find solace or fun in the constant logging in/out of a server to avoid death, they're eventually going to run into the server hopping countermeasures. Plus that's really time consuming. I give a heart felt "meh". -
^This The sun is definitely off. That will really screw up a new players sense of direction....ended up in the endless hills to the west. Then I found a compass, and figured out the sun is indeed in the SE.

Agreed. Then it would be much more entertaining to watch people try and track/hunt that person down to end their increasing record (for the top slots). As opposed to "how many bambis did I kill today". -

Exactly. If you find enough food and bottles/canteens, who cares what they do to stay alive? That's the entire goal of the game, SURVIVAL. As far as I'm concerned if you are smart enough to stay well fed and hydrated, and keep away from all bandits you are WINNING! -

Except they will most likely starve to death while afking. Could also easily implement a mechanic that only tallies if you're active and moving. It's not hard to figure it out and program it in. If your character doesn't move at all (rotation or otherwise) for 30 seconds, your increment stops tallying towards the goal. If refined, this idea might give players the incentive to keep their characters alive longer. The "value of life" players have been asking for, but only coming up with half-brained "punish the bandit" ideas. I like where this idea is going. It's easy to implement anti-abuse measures. This also makes bandits more sinister (especially of the KoS variety) and will force players to be much more careful and sneaky. I dig it :) -

There's already plenty of confirmed weapons. Give them time, this isn't just an Alpha, it's an early access Alpha. 2 Shotguns are already confirmed, and a crossbow among other things. -

Or not even really one loot away. I've seen several videos of one-hit-knockouts from only fists. And a fresh spawn has literally nothing to lose. So say you're geared, walking along the shore and BAM, you're out like a light. Then he's geared and you're naked. Not to mention a fresh spawn can sprint like an Olympic Athlete.

^ This. I'd bet that every new gun we'll see high spawn rates on for a while. This makes sense because they'll want to see a lot of rounds go down range for testing purposes. So do them a favor, and get out there and sling some lead!!
