I consider myself a combat medic. I always carry plenty of supplies to heal/feed/hydrate survivors in need. But I carry firearms to fend off the bandits and hostiles. Now if I could carry something to block the cheaters...
-
Agreed. Nothing is more frustrating than being killed by someone using one of the shitty methods we all hate and despise. -Combat loggers -Ghosters -Server Hoppers -Gamma Cheaters All need to die in a fire.

Combat logging ruins the game. I got shot and killed last night. The guy told me to put my hands up, I did not comply (for some reason). I couldn't see him (night server) so I turned a little bit to try and see where on earth he was (my guess is he was a gamma cheater, I am not). I heard a half-assed "free...." before I was one shotted (somehow, from behind I assume, and I had on a ballistic helmet). And I believe it was a server hopper since I had completely scanned the area. But I could have combat logged as soon as he said (put your hands up). I always give players the benefit of the doubt, so I like to be fair. However being that I was on top of one of the construction buildings, there was only one logical place he could have been, and no way he could have seen me without his gamma jacked up. So to complete the list: -Combat Logging -Server Hopping -Ghosting -Gamma Cheaters All ruin the game and how it's supposed to be played. While I wouldn't dare tell the devs what should and should not be done (stability and optimization still trumps these right now, imo), these are definitely game ruiners for the fair players among us. No way homeboy could have seen me creeping on top of a construction building without his gamma way up. And no way he was in the vicinity since I was up high and scanning my surroundings specifically to identify movement. If he was playing without any of the above cheating/crutch methods, then he should be renamed Ryu Hayabusa.

I meant the military and/or police forces in that area wouldn't have the funds to purchase a weapon like that. So you're not likely to find one. It's not like they'd say "oh shit, Zombies are here. Better order a .50 cal."

Duo Blackrose's list of pistols

Disagree. We have how many different magazines for one rifle already? 4? 5? I say why the hell not! -
Had roughly 115 rounds the last time I had a Mosin (before death). Roughly half those rounds came from civilian areas. Get out and search, you'll find plenty.

That sir, is a damn fine post. Have some :beans:

Solving Both End-Game/Meta-Game and KoS Problems At Once

Even though Rocket said they won't happen, supply drops do make sense. America does it for areas that are hit by disaster. I don't think this would be any different. As long as some benevolent country caught word that there are survivors in the area, they may try to drop supplies and food into the area as a humanitarian effort. So it makes sense I think, but it's not going to happen regardless. -
Water and energy consumption rates figured out - and they are not as I expected

Fit to Fight, to stop overuse of firearms, maybe helping Kos

I mean, I've had days where I've put hundreds upon hundreds of 30-06 through an M1 Garand without any ill effect. A little sore the next morning maybe. But nothing that would prevent me from shooting accurately. -
Totally agreed. As far as the secondary rifle, I think you should be able to sacrifice your melee slot to carry an additional rifle sized weapon. I see no problem there. I know I'd do it when shotguns are implemented for sure.

For some it is. But I don't exactly go jolly-jogging up to a guy with an M4 in a gas mask and try to make friends. If I see someone who is armed, I assume they would rather shoot me than risk their own life. It's up to me after that to determine if I can get the drop on him so I control the situation and can find out, or better to just sneak off and not be seen. If you're getting blasted on by someone you didn't see, you're not being sneaky enough or they're just way sneakier than you are. Also, stay away from Cherno/Elektro. They are graveyards, period. -
Love the inventory system. The *ONLY* thing I would alter is the ability to rotate items so you can "tetris" fit stuff into your backpack. Similar to Resident Evil 4.
-
Now I totally agree that a zombie might occasionally have a can of food in their pocket or something. Very legit to think a survivor had found some food, and fallen victim to the infected horde. Thus you blast them, and a can of tuna might be in their pocket.

Please note: There is no such thing as a "Sniper Rifle". There are bolt action and semi-auto rifles designed to be used at range. They're only considered a "Sniper Rifle" when wielded by a trained Sniper. Having said that, I don't really think any long rifle within reason should be restricted. However, not a single .50 cal weapon should exist in this game. They are far too expensive and rare for some sort of Russian Police force or local military to use.
-
I doubt that. Expensive! And the rifle is even more expensive. Still, they do exist here in good ol' 'Murica. But there is more than one way to skin a cat.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo4kFzECXGs

And put infected blood smeared clothing on your possibly wounded body? Nooooo waaaaay. Otherwise if any one thing was common, I would say it is probably clothing. It's the only thing people wouldn't take in excess as they flee. Most likely what's on them, maybe some extras, but the rest of their space would be for food and supplies.
-
If they ever put it on sale, it will be after release. And it will be full price then, and most likely be discounted back down to what it is now. It's better to buy it now, support development, and enjoy the lowest price it will ever be.
-
Those are all the firearms in the game at the moment. There is no shotgun, so don't waste inventory space.

Hell you can do it with a 5.56. The very last year I attended the National Marine Corps Shooting Match in Camp Perry Ohio, it was won by a Female Marine using a heavily modified AR-15 (1000 yard competition). Having said that, wind is a huge problem for the 5.56 at extreme ranges due to the size of the bullet. Regardless, it happens. But people shoot 1000 yards with .308 with little trouble. Or as one of my father's previous employer states about the round, "supersonic at 1200 yards with the energy of a freight train". http://www.fulton-armory.com/FAR-308-Titan.aspx

Yup, I've done it before. Found a crowbar, made homeboy's head into a pile of mush. And you could hear the butthurt for miles....... -

It happens. At least you're not losing anything as a fresh spawn. -
Movement definitely needs to be tightened up and corrected in some cases. The tapping forward and moving an entire meter is very annoying I must say. Also if you're moving forward and you draw a weapon, you continue to move forward for the rest of the animation regardless if you're holding movement keys or not. That definitely needs corrected.

Definitely should be removed from the core hive, in my opinion.
