Yup. Jacked up they enable night vision, literally. -

You and I have very different definitions of playable... -
You are right on all points. But the Devs can fix it :) And when they do, it will be a day of reckoning for exploiters B)
-
I think he's serious. I understand where he's coming from, I just disagree with it 100%. Exploits exist in a lot of games, but they're called exploits for a reason. You are exploiting an unintentional part of the game to gain an advantage. Thus, you are a cheater. Period. In a game aimed at hyper-realism like DayZ, being able to Godlike-teleport yourself from world to world until you find what you're looking for is a way of cheating. It's unintentional, everyone hates it (and you for doing it), and the devs plan on eliminating it. There is nothing legit about it. You are a dirty rotten cheater, and I hope you get shot in the face by a legit player and become a nice loot pinata.
-
If you: -Server Hop -Combat Log -Ghost You are using exploits to gain an advantage, and you're a piece of shit. The devs have expressed desire and plan to change these factors. It's just a matter of time. Thus, they are exploits. No matter how legit you want them to be, they are not. And the entire community hates you for it.

Are you kidding me? As a fresh spawn, you are GOD. You are actually more feared that geared players, in my opinion. Why? You have absolutely nothing to lose. Go find you a melee weapon, or hell even your bare fists. Run around like a madman at Balota and try to score a TKO against an armed bandit (happens all the time). Loot his body = Profit Anyway. A lot of things will change with Zeds are fixed and fully implemented. They're barely a deterrent now, and I've actually been killed because of how lame they are currently.

Strange. My gamma/brightness are each at 50% and I can't see a damn thing outside. I mean nothing. Just blackness. -

Current natural night lighting is unrealistic. Moonlight and starlight provides far more illumination than the sea of black that exists now. On a full moon, you can walk out into a field and it's perfectly visible. Under trees it would certainly be darker. But you would be able to see much better than you can now. Also the other things meant to make nights better aren't working. Flashlights function, but the light-clipping makes you light up like a lighthouse beacon. I should also be able to shine my flashlight at my compass for navigation. The flashlight taking two hands to use does suck a bit actually. These aren't 30lbs flood lights or something. -
That would work really well actually. That way the intrigue of military areas remains, just increase the likelihood of those spawns by a small amount (10-20% maybe).
-
I would love to see 100% random loot. And I think it fits the game anyway. I think if an M4 were to spawn in a civilian area (for example) it should be resting against a dead body/skeleton. Perhaps a survivor that had found it before wound up there and starved/bled to death. I think it would be cool! And solve the server hopping issue.
-
Server hopping effectively breaks the game. Look at it this way. Server Hopping: -Little to no danger to earn whatever gear you please, just logout where it spawns -Quick and easy gearing of even a brand new beach spawn -Avoiding all perils regarding running from town to town trying to find all your supplies and gear -Can easy stock up an abundance of ammunition and your select weaponry -It's lame Now picture a server or group of servers where it were somehow impossible to hop: -You must take the time to run through the forest, along the roads, through each town, looking for what you want. -Once in a town, you have to make your way past zeds and potential players to reach your destination -When running you're actually expending energy/hydration, opposed to server hopping where little is used -You face all of the dangers of exposing yourself as you sprint from town to town looking for your gear -You may get there and the gear is already gone after a 30 minute hike (probably taken by a server hopping asshole) In short, server hopping is pretty lame and a game breaking mechanic. You don't work for your gear, when many of us are. The game is much more challenging when you have to actually go earn your gear as opposed to easy mode.

So I just saw a server named "Friendly! No KOS! 24/7 day! 3PP: ON!"

Time to make a raiding band to go kill everyone on the server.... Anyway. Some people want to play DayZ, but they wan't all the actual elements that make it DayZ taken out. A carebear version I guess. I don't understand the point, but to each his own. -
So I played solely 1st Person Servers the whole day today and my thoughts are
Bakercompany86 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Agreed. I think it jacks up the intensity a few notches when you can't safely peer around corners. Makes you play like a true FPS, slicing corners and what not. It also adds extreme value to the Hunting Backpack in my opinion. The most capacity without limiting your rear view. -
Night time servers--- THE BEST SERVERS
Bakercompany86 replied to Space Milk's topic in General Discussion
Despite the gamma cheat the night servers are always empty. I stay on the night servers a lot, although I don't jack up the gamma/brightness. I take my chances with my flashlight and try to use it only when absolutely needed. I do sincerely hope they add realistic night lighting (from the moon/stars) so people don't have to use the gamma/brightness deal. But yeah, night servers are great. I'm glad they're implementing the ability to tell which servers are on night cycle from the server menu. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
Bakercompany86 replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
WHY THE FUCK are we going to force bandits to wear some stupid armband? That is GODSIGHT. Some stupid fake ass way to identify how a player is going to behave without their consent. And as mentioned previously in this thread it is an extremely FLAWED idea. Any form of bandit identification outside of your own brain is a lame idea. So what if someone tries to KoS me, but they're a lousy shot? I'm forced to run away or be marked as a "bandit" by this dumbass system. Thus some hero is going to blast me because I'm a fake bandit. It's a horrible system, and has no place in DayZ. -

This should appear on the death screen of everyone who suggests some stupid "godsight" in the game to identify bandits... -

Satisfy both sides? You're asking for some sort of stupid ass "godsight" to identify potential threats at range.... And that makes you a better hero? This makes me a child? Fucking seriously? You're looking at stripping off one of the coolest aspects of this game. And then what? So you can see a guy is a bandit from far away. So now you go sit in the woods hiding, eating your beans? Alone? Or do you shoot him from afar? And then you're no better than the bandit. It's a stupid ass idea. Thank god it will never make it into this game. -

LMAO....okay here we go. 1. You choose who you help, I choose who I help. It's that simple. Go ahead and ask the assault rifle wielding guy if he needs a band aid. 2. The first things a player needs is hydration and sustenance. Most towns yield some sort of weapon. It's on them to find it, that's my choice. 3. I'm sorry you find my choice of play style boring. Good thing I'm not forcing it on you. 4. Actually, you're trying to force players to play your way. The opposite of what you're actually saying. 5. "Hey buddy, you just shot that guy in the face. Do you mind slipping this armband on so other players know you might want to shoot them in the face?" FUCKING LAME 6. This is not the game for you. Besides there will be more implemented. Cooking, hunting, gathering, even cannibalism. Regardless, your complaint is about how some people choose to play the game. <----------Dead Island is that way. 7. *See #5* EDIT: If you want your own special "identify the bandit carebear bullshit" on your own private server, be my guest. Just don't touch the real game. -

Bakercompany86 replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Stereotyping should be the only method of bandit identification. Just like in real life. See a guy in full camo with a gas mask and a ballistic helmet holding an assault rifle? Might be wise to avoid that person. Why the hell would you approach those people anyway is beyond me. They clearly don't need your help. -

Man I'm sorry but this sounds like a bunch of crying because you've been killed. Time to find a new game buddy. My character has been alive for almost a week now. I've encountered players, friendly and otherwise. I'm still alive. I don't kill on sight unless they're pointing a gun at me. Again, this just isn't the game for you. Pretty sure Rocket said he's not interested in doing bandit/hero skins or any sort of stupid morality system anyway. EDIT: Bandit/Hero skins or a morality system isn't adding a new dynamic to the game. It's not giving people anything else to do. It's just making it easier for those who are tired of being killed on sight. This game doesn't need an easy mode....become a better player. -

1. No intelligent hero arms the person they're helping. Feed, hydrate, administer medical help. Do not give them a weapon, that's asking for trouble (and pretty retarded). 2. I've helped plenty of people who didn't turn around and try to kill me. Primarily because of #1 above, and the fact that I keep the ball in my court at all times. 3. Yeah, there is plenty of stealth in this game. If you're just running around like a madman, yeah you're going to be seen. I've managed to sneak around many unaware players. Most of the ones I've helped I've approached via stealth. So practice makes perfect I guess. 4. No I don't want to discourage players playing the way they want to in DayZ. I'm not even a bandit, I play a medic. So I'm not concerned with killing people. I certainly don't want some lame ass arbitrary system floating over players heads so I can walk around in easy mode and have nothing to fear in a game about fear and survival. 5. This comment shows how much you (don't) pay attention. I'm not a bandit, nor do I want to be. But I don't want to strip every ounce of challenge out of this game, as you and others seem to want to. Sounds like you're the one who should revert to COD or BF since you clearly want and need some shit simple system to clearly draw a line between friend and foe. Sounds like this just isn't the game for you. EDIT: Hero/Bandit skins are a fucking horrible idea. Absolutely terrible. I shoot a guy for whatever reason, and *poof* my entire wardrobe and look changes....regardless of the reason. Stupid.... -

Why are people playing an ultra-hardcore game, if they want things made easier for them? I don't understand that at all. The entire point of this game for me, is it's hardcore nature. If I see a player in the distance, I make the conscious decision of whether I want to risk trying to help that player or avoid them entirely. If they were somehow marked from far away, that avoid the entire mental conflict of making that decision. Thus DayZ is no longer DayZ. -

Bakercompany86 replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. You take a risk by helping someone. That's what this game is all about. Risk vs Reward. The killing on sight will be toned down when the zombies are fully implemented and their AI fixed. That way people won't just be able to fire at will around cities without drawing the hordes attention. They will need to speed them up slightly so they can easily catch players though.
