  1. Exactly right. Regardless of why you kill someone, you shouldn't be "marked by god" because you chose to do so. And as mentioned above, the reasons for killing someone aren't always rooted in evil. Prime example. Buddy of mine was trying to meet up with me outside of Cherno, but he was stuck in it. He sees an unarmed player, makes contact, doesn't butcher him with his axe, and goes on his way. Only to have said player find a weapon, and come kill my buddy with it before we could link up. The player probably just wanted his loot. But does he deserve to have some "godmark" on him because of his decision? No. Was my buddy foolish for letting him live? Not really, but it did come back to bite him in the ass. But this is what this game is all about. "Karma" is not real. No matter how much someone wants to think it is, it isn't. So adding some sort of "bandit identifier" to this game is just an absurd idea. Not to mention a HUGE part of this game is deception. What if someone is trying to pretend to be a friendly, only because they have an Axe and you are staring at them with an M4. So they can use this ploy to get you to let your guard down, and butcher you with their axe for your gear. But if they had killed someone previously, you'd know because of this "godmark" and kill them before they killed you. In my opinion, this goes against the very core foundation of this game and what the devs are trying to achieve. Having said that, I have 100% confidence that Rocket will never ever allow something this lame to be implemented into DayZ. It goes against what he's trying to achieve, and he's said that before. If you're tired of being killed by players, you're doing something wrong. LEARN TO SURVIVE BETTER. I've been alive for days on the same character. And I haven't killed a single person with this character yet. I observe, sneak, pay attention, check all avenues, cover all bases. I watch the players move about Cherno from a safe distance. A group of 3 of them armed to the teeth. Most likely, encountering them wouldn't be a good idea. So I keep them at distance, and mostly stay away from the coast because I know it's suicide. Unless I'm looking for a kill for whatever reason (say I need food). There should be no reason I can't murder someone for their supplies without some stupid "bandit mark". As far as killing fresh spawns or unarmed people goes, player choice. Simple as that. First off fresh spawns aren't losing anything. And what if I need a battery?
  2. If you've survived long enough to gather and hoard that much ammo, why not? Besides, firing without a suppressor brings MORE Zombies. You can evade them (speaking of when the AI and bugs are fixed). But you have to RUN. And if you watch videos of the mod, when people run from zombies they usually run into MORE zombies. I honestly think people save ammo to kill players, not zombies. I know I do. I refuse to shoot zeds in all but the most dire situations. Regardless, why would we punish players outside the norm of the game with some lame morality system?
  3. And that is what this game is about :) The intense moments created by player interaction and reaction that really get your heart going.
  4. Depends on how much money they want to make :) The more players they reach, the more money they make (of course considering the cost of paying people to port it). Otherwise I bet we see a Mac port eventually. But seriously, tell your friend to get Windows...
  5. 10/10 Have some beans. First off, KoS isn't really a problem. Only if you're trying to get the easy weapon spawns in Balota AF. Stop trying to do that....go north. You'll have much more success and peace. Secondly as OP mentioned, Zeds will be the balancers for large city PvP. Right now people have no incentive to hold their fire. When there's a zombie horde between you and the guy with the Mosin on the hill, do you think he's going to ring that dinner bell? Probably not. Give it time, this is an early access alpha in it's earliest stages. In no way is it a complete product, said by Rocket himself. But jesus man, don't punish players for how they want to play just because you're tired of being killed. That's just lame and has no place in DayZ. I've been alive for DAYS. I've observed several groups of most likely hostile players from afar without them ever being aware of my presence. Learning to be stealthy and sneak around is part of the game. Don't play stupid. And remember that death is a core part of this game.
  6. TMW - Please have one or a few of your members add me on Steam. User name is the same as my forum name. I have donations now, I will most likely have donations later. We will communicate via steam/teamspeak to set up rendezvous. Thanks for doing what you do. It's really cool :)

    Vehicles needed asap?

I'd much rather them focus on the core of the game before worrying about vehicles which will be an epidemic by themselves. I want to see bugs ironed out, zombies fixed and multiplied, more weapons/supplies/gear added, cooking/hunting/gathering added and perfected. Not to mention balancing loot spawn, such as military grade weapons. I also want to see a lot more weapons added with many different ammo types around. (9mm, .40 cal, .44 mag, .22LR, .38, .270, etc). Vehicles will be added eventually. As it stands, it's not that difficult to run north and hit the NWAF. Besides, I freaking love it. The nervousness of running through fields and forests to your location, never sure of who you might encounter or who's watching... They are rested after the holidays, and well funded after the success of the SA sales. They are primed and ready to rock. Let's allow them to focus on improving the core of the game before worrying about end-game stuff like vehicles and tents.

    My wish list for Dayz

Spray Tags - Would be very cool. Don't have a problem with this in the slightest. I definitely think you'd see a rise of gangs and "clans" in a post-apocalyptic world. Game Timer - Yes please! Definitely would love to track my survival times among other stats as well. Carry/Drag Corpses - Absolutely! Kill a guy in the streets? Drag him in a building to safely loot :) Buddy killed in the streets or unconscious? Drag him somewhere to safety where you can protect/revive him. Yes please! In game currency - Could take it or leave it. As it stands in game items are valuable enough to trade with. Class/Ability system - Please god no. I feel it goes against the core value of what makes DayZ unique. No skills outside of what you can put your mind to in the game with the available resources. And definitely no special "abilities". We're humans. We all pretty much have the same ability.

How to authentically strike the right balance of PvP in DayZ SA.

Please God no morality or sanity system. More zombies will be added, not to mention roaming hordes. Couple that with zombie AI tweaks and that's all the pvp balancing you need. Just more incentive to be careful when shooting around cities. PvP in it's current standing isn't even a problem. People who are constantly kos'd are spending too much time around the coast, especially Balota trying to get the "easy guns". So far my past four encounters with players inland have been shakey, but nobody died or got robbed. Exact opposite actually. We all offered assistance and supplies to one another. It was the forced roleplaying that I believe makes DayZ truly unique. The murderers roam the coast. I figured this was well known now. Tired of death? Head north. Once the zombies are fully implemented you'll have your balance. In the mean time don't put any lame morality systems in place that prevent players from playing the way they want to.
  10. I don't see a problem with the current implementation of the compass. Once they fix the hotkey system it will be fine. The hotkeys suck currently as you have to press the button a few times to bring it up. And then sometimes it puts it right back away. Otherwise the compass is fine imo.

    DayZ in a nutshell

    If that's what you've been doing....smh

What happens if you go off the edge of the map?

It's like the hallway in Poltergeist. The hills just keep going and going and going...... I did that accidentally when I had no other source of direction but the Sun. And the Sun for some reason isn't ever East or West....it's to the South.... Really screwed me up until I found a compass and discovered this little bit of info.

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

I just don't understand the fun in server hopping... I can tear apart an entire town, and if I find a can of beans I get excited. Maybe we should all just start camping the corners of military buiildings.

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

For server hopping, you could possibly implement some sort of instanced loot. Basically when you log in, any loot that is within 100m (or whatever seems appropriate) you cannot see, but other players who were already on that server can. Instanced loot exists in several games, as does phasing technology. Just a thought.
  15. Do you accept medical supply donations?

    Matchbox inconsistency

I just don't understand why I can't put the 43 matches from one box into the box of 85 matches I already had, when the box holds 250 matches...

This is not what I hoped DayZ would be

Interesting. I like the majority of this community so far. In game and out. I've only see one troll thread of really bad ideas. The rest had ideas I may have agreed or disagreed with, but they weren't horrible ideas.

This is not what I hoped DayZ would be

I'm confused, is the OP mainly complaining about being KoS'd?
  19. That choice should definitely remain in the hands of the player. Keep your trusty axe around, that requires no ammo and can butcher legions of zombies? Or sacrifice it to use those shotgun rounds you've been hoarding? Plenty of risk vs reward here that is based on the players decision. Not to mention a shotgun isn't exactly as stealthy as an axe.

Zombies hits = Bleeding (almost everytime)

According to the game animation, that's what they try to do. In all the Zombie fiction I've read/watched they're trying to tear you apart, literally. But usually this isn't just them trying to standup fight you. They're literally throwing themselves at you for whatever chance they can get to eat you. I think that's why most zombie games that incorporate QTEs they're mostly trying to grab you and bite you.
  21. Technically if you remove the buttstock, carry handle, and trigger assembly of an M4 it would easily fit into a backpack. Of course it's not exactly combat effective as you'd have to reassemble the entire thing. Taller backpacks could fit an entire M4 with ease. They're not that large of a weapon, nor are they that heavy. But definitely you could sling one over each shoulder.

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

There is definitely validity to your point. It would definitely kill two of our biggest problems. There was another idea someone posted and it was based on timers. Basically you can switch once. So you could still server hop, but very very limited. As far as whether it's easier to wait for a timer or run to another location...meh...I'm never comfortable sitting still. But that's me, others I'm sure feel differently. I just don't really want my character stuck on one server. If the server becomes laggy or crashes/reboots, then I'm forced to make another character. There's got to be a better way to kill the 3 problems (combat loggers, hoppers, and ghosters) without punishing the rest of us who play in a legit manner....hmmmm. How could this be done?

For all of those that want to raise the player limit

I would like spawn to stay on the coast. Definitely get a thrill out of initial survival and continuing my journey north to gear up. I don't see anything wrong with 60 players on a server. Like someone mentioned, with private servers you can set the cap anyway. So why are we talking about this? Regardless, on a 40 player server 35 of them are most likely on the coast and concentrated near Cherno and Balota. I travel north and rarely see anyone.
  24. I think you should be able to sacrifice your melee weapon slot for a second rifle. I don't see anything wrong with that. Not like you can dual wield them. No reason a player shouldn't be able to carry an M4/870 or Mosin/870 or M4/Mosin etc. I mean you can hold a fire axe there (rougly 7lbs.) And that's the same weight as my 870 at home (probably about 8 lbs loaded).
  25. Bakercompany86

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

How would it not? They'll still change servers and "hop", but it will be a lot less frequent. Make it 30 to 60 minutes then. The static character idea sucks.
