Tip: watch in 1080p so you can read the chat. We saw this guy enter the jail, and saw that he had an M4 with what looked like an ACOG (turned out to be a RDS later). We were interested in the scope, so we were going to try and hold him up for it. We had no intention of killing this guy, but since logging like that is the dumbest and lowest thing you can do I finished him off before he was able to make it out of the game. Better luck next time, Pavel. You're an ass.

Thanks! No, it is actually 40 fps. It says 'video' in front of it which looks like a 1 in YouTube quality ;) My settings are basically on medium. If I don't record I can set some stuff to high and still get about 40 fps, on low I get 60-80 fps (while recording). Anything above 35 is okay for me, so these settings work best. I only have a gaming laptop, so I don't have THAT much power anyway. I use NVidia ShadowPlay to record. To me it's by far the best software, way better than OBS, Fraps or DXTory. Hardly any performance loss while recording. I record in 720p, 22 MBps using H.264. My graphics card is an NVidia GeFore GTX760M (overclocked) and my processor is an i7-4702MQ 2.2GHz (3.2GHz turbo, overclocked to 2.4GHz, turbo 3.4GHz).

So me and my friend were looting the airfield. Since he was the one with the least valuable gear he decided to go in while I kept an eye out on the outside. I did not see anything, but as he is running around he gets hit with a Mosin shot. He runs into the jail and asks me to look around. Soon enough I see three(!) guys approaching the jail and tell him to just sit tight and wait for them at the top of the stairs. He does, but they start talking to him. At this point I am deciding whether I want to approach them or not, but they are trying to talk my friend into coming down and say that they are friendly. We did not trust it, but since my friend didn't have much to lose and I had no way of taking three guys out without them hearing my footsteps (the doors were closed) he decides to come down. As soon as he pops his head out... He gets shot. Now it's on! I decide to circle around and ambush them. Three guys, all by myself. This is where the video starts: Later we found out that the third guy combat logged when I shot his second friend. How sad. Still, their little bandit group got what was coming for them and justice was served that day!

Then you're either blind, or have been watching a different video. This. Exactly this. I could not agree more, sooner or later people will find out (I hope). The KoS mentality is one that I can have fun with as well, because it always feel good to kill people that tried to kill you seconds before. But I would love to get held up more often in this game, get robbed/exchange loot and both walk away. This game is not about loot, it's about surviving. And we helped that guy survive; we let him go and he was in the middle of Berezino, a town where there is always loot to be found. We spared his life; it would have been easier, less time consuming to just kill him right there on the spot (or even worse, leave him there unconscious with a broken leg) but we didn't. We wanted to see him walk out of there and be able to continue with his quest, and it gave us a good 5 minutes of fun. It's what the game is about, people!

Have my beans! That was exactly the point I was trying to make with this video. It's not a 'look-at-how-sweet-we-are'-type of video. It's a video to show people that not EVERY guy with an M4 and military outfit will kill you on the spot or leave you to rot with a broken leg.

We let him go in Berezino; I'm sure he will be able to find food and ammo. There is a water fountain right down the road. I let him keep his cantine.

We shot him in the leg AFTER he pulled his gun out on us while we specifically told him not to move.

So me and my friend heard a bunch of shots and decided to go check it out. He went to the roof of the school, I was chasing the guy that was shooting. I ended up chasing him into the school, when this happened... I know it's not the most entertaining video (if at all), but I just wanted to show people that there are geared players who are willing to help, EVEN if we already shot you in the leg (when my friend told him not to move he pulled his gun out). I've seen many players on the forums/reddit lose confidence in other players, and that's why I am posting this video. Stay healthy, guys!

Since I am the only one with an M4 I decided to hold him at gunpoint (we do rob people, but do not kill them unless it's extremely necessary). So far, it's all good. While I have the hostage under control, my buddy goes out to handcuff him. Turns out he had been messing with his key-bindings and changed his Action keybinding to something else. The hostage figures out that this is his opportunity; he flips us off, and while I was still wondering what was going on he runs out and left me completely baffled (I did not shoot because I did not want to kill him). I try to chase him, could have shot him in the back but again I did not want to kill him. We looked through the town, but he was gone... major respect. Disclaimer: yes, I know we handled this in a completely noob way. Sometimes you slip up, it's part of the game. I just thought this encounter was hilarious and major props to the hostage for having the balls to flip us off, run away and ACTUALLY get away. Disclaimer2: For some reason my microphone was not recording, so you only hear my 2 friends talk. If you are readying this, you are awesome dude. Thanks for that hilarious moment!

Lol. This exact thing happened to me (the story about the dev shutting down the server due to DDoS attacks), I was in Elektro at that time, but just ignored it and kept on running. Never ran into anyone.

Don't give the guy false hope, people. He will get 20 FPS at best in the woods, but as soon as he is in any town (big or small) it will drop under 10. Even on the lowest, lowest settings. Good luck fighting zombies/players with that.
